The RSBP, that most gentle and respected of UK wildlife organisations, was so incensed by the governments breaking of its pledge not to weaken environmental protections, that it issued the above photograph and caption.

The governments decision to allow building developers (one of the biggest Conservative Party's donors) to pollute our already ailing waterways with extra phosphates and nitrates so incensed the RSPB that they issued the above photograph and caption saying:

"You said you wouldn’t weaken environmental protections. And yet that’s just what you are doing. You lie, and you lie, and you lie again. And we’ve had enough."

This has exposed them to serious political attack. Tory MP Mark Jenkinson claimed the RSPB was entering the political arena and called for the Charity Commission to strip it of its charity status. These cries were echoed in the Express that stated:

“Tories slam RSPB charity over housebuilding row as MPs call for charity status to go.”  (Express: 30/08/230

Needless to say the RSPB, having come under such heavy criticism and threat, felt the need to offer an apology for its earlier post saying its "frustration” had led it “to attack the people not the policy”.

This raises two important issues.

 Should, and are, charities allowed to "enter the political arena” in areas that concern their charitable wok? 

The answer is a resounding YES. The governments own paper, “Political activity and campaigning by charities” states:

“Charities can take part in political activity that supports their purpose and is in their best interests.”(2022)

2. Can you attack a policy without attacking the people who drew it up?

Well, of course you can but policies do not write themselves. Political policies have sponsors, they have authors, and they have approval and enactment by politicians. If these politicians can no longer be named and shamed then this is another blow to our ever-diminishing democracy.

 A government that is so weak and insecure that it feels the need to threaten the UK’s leading bird charity with extinction is a government  in serious moral decline and one not fit for purpose.

Cerita Di Kamar Jenazah

Rabu subuh tanggal 30 Juli 2021, Bapak nya Heri dan Feri meninggal. Kabar yang sangat mengejutkan untuk orang yang setau saya sehat dan masih bisa bekerja diusia tua. Beliau tutup usia diumur 56 tahun. Hari itu saya langsung mengabari Mai untuk cuti. Meski kerjaan masih banyak, tapi ya sudah lah.

Pagi itu langsung ke rumah Feri, Feri masih berada di RSBP untuk mengunggu hasil test PCR, jadi jenazah belum bisa diantar ke rumah duka.

Aku, Heri, & Pandi berangkat ke RSBP sekitar pukul 8.30. Di sana sudah ada Feri dan Pak Dhe dari April, istri Feri. Infonya, kemungkinan hasilnya siang. Yasudah Feri pulang, kami gantikan untuk menunggu hasilnya.

Pak Parman, begitu biasa dipanggil sakit komplikasi, prostat, paru2 dan jantung, jelasnya saya kurang paham. Mendengar cerita detik2 sebelum menghembuskan nafas terakhir salalu terngiang akan diri sendiri, bagaimana ketika menghadapi kematian.

Jam demi jam menunggu, tak kunjung ada kabar. Sampai akhirnya diarahkan untuk menunggu di kamar Jenazah. Ada suasana yang mencekam, tangisan keluarga yang kehilangan sungguh terasa. Ada ibu2, pejabat ormas, sampai Pak Walkot Batam juga datang ke kamar jenazah. Ternyata positif Covid, padahal di pemakaman sudah disiapkan tenda dan kursi2 untuk seremoni.

Siang itu Bang Wenk datang juga menemani. Tapi Dia sampai sore saja karena lanjut kerja lagi dan jemput anaknya.

Di rumah duka sudah menanti2, kami pun yang di RS juga mulai kesal, menunggu tidak jelas.

Sampai akhirnya Pak Parman dinyatakan positif juga, waktu sudah jam 4 sore. Heri Feri sudah ikhlas apapun kabarnya, yang penting bisa dimakamkan dengan baik.

Hari itu juga Pak Parman dimakamkan dengan protokol Covid, dibungkus dengan rapat dan dimasukan ke peti. Kondisi yang benar2 aneh tapi mau bagaimana lagi.

Hanya kami ber 5 yang mengantai sampai makam.

Sepanjang hari Saya banyak berfikir tentang hidup dan kematian. Beberapa hari sedang terpapar bacaan filosofi dan sejarah science. Masih bingung, apa sebenarnya yang kita cari dan tuju? Apakah ada dunia setelah kematian?

Polri Tegaskan Usut dan Tindak Tegas Pelaku Penyerangan Ulama

 KONTENISLAM.COM - Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia (Polri) tegaskan akan mengusut tuntas secara profesional kasus penyerangan terhadap ulama (ustaz) atau tokoh agama yang terjadi di sejumlah wilayah, salah satunya Batam. "Kembali lagi Polri punya tugas pokok untuk melindungi siapa saja, melindungi warga negara termasuk tokoh agama, maka kasus ini Polri akan terus dalami dengan serius secara profesional untuk mengungkap kasus ini," kata Kepala Bagian Penerangan Umum (Kabagpenum) Divisi Humas Polri Kombes Pol Ahmad Ramadhan, saat dikonfirmasi di Jakarta, Selasa (28/9/2021). Terkait penyerangan Ustaz Abu Syahid Chaniago di Kota Batam, kata Ramadhan, polisi setempat telah melakukan langkah-langkah penyelidikan dan penyidikan, termasuk mengamankan pelaku. Hasil penyidikan awal, pelaku yang telah ditetapkan tersangka diketahui pernah dirawat di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Banda Aceh tiga tahun silam. "Terkait dengan posisi dia dianggap tidak waras, itu bukan hanya keterangan tetapi kami akan telurusi, baik pemeriksaan oleh ahli dokter jiwa maupun rekam medis yang sebelumnya," kata Ramadhan. Ramadhan juga menegaskan terkait sikap Polri terkait penyerangan terhadap ulama yang kerap terjadi di sejumlah wilayah, seperti Bekasi, Tangerang dan Batam. Menurut Ramadhan, tiga kasus penyerangan tersebut belum ada keterkaitan. Berbeda motif dan antara korban dengan pelaku tidak saling kenal. Ramadhan juga mengimbau masyarakat tidak memaknai kejadian tersebut sebagai sebuah upaya kriminalisasi terhadap tokoh agama yang dapat membuat situasinya menjadi tidak nyaman. "Polri akan profesional siapapun bersalah akan diproses, tentunya sesuai dengan aturan," kata Ramadhan. Seperti diketahui, Ustadz Abu Syahid Chaniago tiba-tiba diserang oleh pelaku H saat tengah mengisi ceramah di hadapan ibu-ibu, Senin 20 September 2021 di Batam, Kepulauan Riau. Kabid Humas Polda Batam AKBP Harry Goldenheardt mengatakan pelaku H telah ditetapkan sebagai tersangka, ditahan di Polresta Barelang Batam. Menurut Harry, pihak RSJ Banda Aceh telah menyatakan pelaku H sudah sembuh secara klinis dari penyakit gangguan jiwa dan tinggal mengkonsumsi obat. "Dari hasil riksa dokter spesialis kejiwaan RSBP Batam menyimpulkan bahwa perilaku pelanggaran hukum tidak disebabkan oleh gangguan kejiwaan dan direkomendasikan kasus hukum tersangka bisa dilanjutkan," kata Harry saat dikonfirmasi Senin (27/9). Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan itu, polisi setempat menaikkan status perkara ke tahap penyidikan. Adapun motif penyerangan berdasarkan keterangan tersangka, kata Harry, tersangka tidak suka dengan kegiatan ceramah keagamaan. Atas perbuatannya, tersangka dijerat dengan Pasal 351 ayat (1) dan (4) jo 352 dengan ancaman pidana penjara dua tahun delapan bulan. Kasus penyerangan terhadap ulama/ustadz mendapat perhatian sejumlah pihak, salahnya Anggota DPR RI Habib Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi. Aboe Bakar dalam sosialisasi empat pilar MPR RI di Kabupaten Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan, menegaskan tindakan penyerangan kepada para ustad beberapa waktu terakhir tidak boleh diremehkan. "Perlunya langkah preventif yang dilakukan untuk mengantisipasi jangan sampai terulang kembali," kata Aboe Bakar dalam keterangan tertulis di Jakarta, Minggu. Aboe Bakar mencontohkan penyerangan kepada ustad terjadi tanggal 21 September di Mustikajaya, Bekasi. Sehari sebelumnya Ustad Chaniago yang sedang memberikan ceramah di Masjid juga diserang. Dua hari sebelum itu Ustadz Marwan, menjadi korban penembakan di depan rumahnya yang terletak di kecamatan Pinang, kota Tangerang. Sementara kata Aboe Bakar, kejadian yang agak lama diingat adalah penyerangan kepada almarhum Syaikh Ali Jaber.[suara]
