i’m stuck on ideas for rest stoppers. how do you think a first meeting between book! fishlegs and movie! hiccup would go?
Hmm... we may need to call in the big guns for this one
@wickedcriminal
If Movie!Hiccup is on Movie!berk and the two Fishlegses got swapped, Movie Hiccup would probably be something like "okay, two people can have the same name, but this kid is NOT from Berk, I've never seen him before."
And when Movie Hiccup introduces himself as Hiccup, Book fishlegs would probably laugh in his face and say "and I'm grimbeard the Ghastly. Who are you really?"
If one of the twins are there they'd say "aha! So the spy confesses! What have you done to Fishlegs, Grimbeard?"

I was thinking that Book Alvin kinda regards this new hiccup as inferior to the one he first fought. for a while he considers movie hiccup more so on the same level as Drago; powerful and influential, but nothing more than a nuisance. Hiccup slowly gets on his nerves more and more, until he, once captured, decides to declare the Slavemark as the Dragonmark.
And Alvin, who has already been pestered by Movie Hiccup’s attempts to negotiate and his irritating inventions, just absolutely loses his mind.
After that, Alvin genuinely starts spiraling out of control.
Love it. 10/10 addition.

FIFTH ROLESWAP AU PITCH:
Rest Stops (or Rest Stoppers)
Several humans and dragons from both the HTTYD movieverse and bookverse end up transported to the opposite realities thanks to several mysterious dragons that seem to rip holes in space. Shenanigans ensue as the mixed-up casts attempt to get back home and stop several villains from using the mysterious dragons for their own gain. Things get even more hectic when characters thought to be long-dead appear, though they have certain…. differences that nobody seems to remember.
Rest Stoppers AU love it. Who are all these strangers and why are they looking at Snotlout like they're seeing a ghost? Stoick doesn't notice he's in another world for hours until someone confronts him about his recent... lack of being alive. Some of the Berkians think Stoick's a revenant at first, come to take revenge against the dragon that killed him. Most of the former Alvinsmen and Dragonmarkers are convinced that Snotlout's a revenant come to avenge his death. Especially the former Alvinsmen who shot the arrows that killed him. Everyone gives Fishlegs Ingerman funny looks when he introduces himself. Their king straight up tells him "no you're not" when he introduces himself as Fishlegs from Berk. A giant three-headed Dragon was about two seconds from eating him, it was terrifying but also what kind of Dragon is that he's never seen anything like it before it's beautiful. Camicazi finds herself in a strange new world and immediately starts committing crimes with her Amazing Talking Dragon. The King of the Wilderwest has to enlist the help of the Hysterics to help out a mute Dragon with a really ingenious prosthetic tailfin whose only drawback is that someone needs to be on his back in order for it to work. Berk's Chief has to help a fuzzy black dragon with a limp through a panic attack. Everyone Fishlegs No-Name introduces himself to asks if he's lost weight recently, even the tribe's chief, and it's really starting to get annoying. Astrid is apparently the only displaced person in either universe who actually tries to stay on the task of trying to get back home.
Chief Hiccup of Berk introduces himself to a newcomer, and they immediately laugh in his face. The next newcomer he introduces himself to asks him "are you sure?" and his own resurrected father doesn't recognize him.
King Hiccup of the Wilderwest isn't faring any better. He introduces himself to the newcomers and they're all in various states of "you're Hiccup." (said in the most sarcastic, skeptical tone possible) "What are you, eight? Where're your parents?" (said in the most dismissive tone possible) and "What's the Wilderwest?" (said in the most has-somehow-missed-the-last-three-ish-years tone possible)
i love this thank you

so after all the antics that the Rest Stoppers go through, the Bookverse manages to attach a message to the Spaceripper (working on some classifications for it) and explain to the movieverse what is going on.
After that, well… two mysterious hooded figures with strange glowing appendages and oddly familiar voices appear on both Movie!Berk and Tommorow respectively, selling some very peculiar maps.
They’re not very useful without an Air-Stick to open the Which Ways, but they do show where the Spacerippers will be moving next… maybe they’ll even be able to follow them through if they time it right.
The maps show the Which Ways mysteriously converging on Dragon Island on one end, and Death’s Head Headland on the other. After all,“In my beginning is my end”.
But who are those mysterious figures? Bounty hunters? Pirates who stole the maps? Or perhaps… they are the creators of the maps?
i am extremely invested thank you for this

oh and in rest stoppers How To Speak Dragonese, A Hero’s Guide to Deadly Dragons, and The Book of Dragons get world-swapped as well.
Another detail is that Fishlegs No-Name, while he was awake during his abduction, noticed that his allergies weren’t flaring up… wonder why.
Now i am wondering why too...
Wait, so do these Which Ways do time travel as well?

btw i know i was just talking about Rest Stoppers but i’m also gonna take a quick detour to mention Stopping Rest. basically i had the idea but i kept forgetting it. essentially Alvin betrays Drago during the final barrage on the Bewilderbeast and slits his throat before offering the dragons protection from his wrath if they join him now. because Dragonese is a long-forgotten and barely remembered language here, even Alvin’s broken dragonese makes him sound like a poet (which he hates).
LOL i love it thank you

for stopping rest i’m very interested in the idea of movie!hiccup trying to empathize with a book!alvin due to their similar experiences and alvin is NOT having it.
ooooh yeah the two warring sides of alvin's psyche: Manipulate Manwhore Manslaughter his way through this strange new Archipelago or letting the Hatred of his Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third pump through his veins where his blood would be if he had a heart. I love it.
#httyd books#stop resting au#srau rsau#Early Books Alvin would've totally made up some sob story or other#in which all of his problems are Book Hiccup's fault and you should totally send your Dragon Riders to kill him he's planning an invasion#Not so for Series End Alvin
