kept a secret by harleen for ten whole years (we love a secretive girlboss) before their location was compromised by the clown himself. in a last ditch attempt, she passed them over to bruce wayne, someone the joker would least expect to house his own genuine child. smiling and laughing have both been ruined for them, as most assume them to be evil right off the bat. they were kicked out of public school for ‘being a threat to student safety’ after they snickered once, and spend most their days alone in a manor far too big for a fifteen year old.
