Hey friends! So pumped to celebrate my bzzrkday on Friday, May 5th here in Chicago with some of my best musician buddies.

We've got Professor Kliq coming in from Portland who will make your booty shake, Nevada Hardware debuting several new slammin' tunes, _the boundless_ rocking out with Mi.Mu Gloves, DJ Flores Negras spinning as we open, and I myself as royb0t will be playing all new tracks from my upcoming album featuring warehouse techno oontz, rave-tastic breaks/big beat and samples galore! Also some secret KBR tracks happening!

I even got some special t-shirts for the event that I'll be giving away some until I run out! BE THERE.

2017: Top 10 Events

The past year was a lot of focus on music and live performance. I moved in July which slowed down my ability to do as much art as I had to rebuild my audio spaceship/the badtvlab. I’m actually way happy with my new place - it’s super cozy and coming along well with wonderful art on many of my walls. I’ll admit the political climate has been agonizing and mentally taxing, so that probably took away some of my energy to create as much as I would in previous years. Nevertheless, still some great personal experiences in 2017. These are some of my favorites collections of events.

10. 20170108. Tumblr Visual Remixes. rivka-kopelman made a great piece that chromo-valdez remixed which then I felt called to do a bzzrk remix! So much fun. I really need to do this more. <3 to both artists. chromo did some other exquisite remixes of my pieces here and here. Whee.

09. 20170412, 20170729. royb0t remixes for Kevin Lux and _the boundless_. Kevin Lux - The Number Is (royb0t 041217 Remix) and _the boundless_ - Breath (royb0t 072917 Remix). One is very techno and the other is very noisy, enjoyed remixing these local Chicago artists a bunch!

08. 20170719. Digital Gnosis live score of Trip To The Moon. At Comfort Station Inn, Digital Gnosis performed a live scoring of Georges Milies films, The Impossible Voyage (1904) and A Trip To The Moon (1902) with a segment between the two featuring the track Silve Aten played live set to NASA Archival Moon Landing footage, as the next day was the anniversary of the moon landing. Although there were one or two technical hiccups, the record-breaking audience of over 100 in the lil park area was exhilarating and everyone was on board for the whole journey. A blast for sure!

07. 20170706. VJing Smartbar for Rendered (Daniel Myer) and Philipp Strobel. Got called two hours before the event from our friend DJ Jena Max asking if we’d be interested in doing visuals for Rendered and Philipp Strobel. J from Digital Gnosis and I traded off a few times, but if you were there you saw lots of Tachyons+ samples and geometric/cyberpunk visuals. Jena also spun one of my tracks (the heavy/sorta powernoise tune Full Steel Enclosure) which was awesome to hear through Smartbar’s Funktion-One sound system!

06. 20170203, 20170925. Slighter vs royb0t - Forward Edge single and Slighter - Erode album feature. Slighter is an incredible musician and composer. After following each other on Instagram for a while and hearing clips of each other’s work, we collaborated and released the “Forward Edge” single with an additional remix I did of it. The track was then on his full-lengther later in the year and the remix off his remix album too. Such a diverse, original and stellar LP by Slighter too, I highly recommend it.

05. 20170318. Glitch Art Is Dead at Gamut Gallery, Minneapolis, MN. What a magnificent experience seeing so many glitch artists from around the world in one space! I really enjoyed the discussion/debate piece the most but I can’t help but laugh at myself that I got a bit of food poisoning that weekend and in trying to power thru it all, I’m certain there were specific moments where I totally came off as aloof and weird. I mean, more than usual too... ah, the comedy of being human! BUT YES. Great travel buddies, an adorable airbnb, fantastic workshops and discussions; a wonderful adventures overall. Still humbled to know someone bought one of my pieces from the gallery too, so cool!

04. 20170225, 20170331, 20171007, 20171111. Live Performances. 3 Digital Gnosis shows and 1 royb0t performance. All sharing the stage with some wonderful musicians as well. The two that stand out the most for me are the bookends of Liminal Rites in February and _the boundless_ album release show in November. Really leveled up from one show to the next on how to perform, chop music and video live. Eager for what the next year may hold with live performances.

03. 20170322, 20170620. Digital Gnosis releases. Fovea (Versions) maxi-single and A_Net, the track-by-track remix album of Aten. Really happy with how we’ve continued to evolve Fovea, but also how amazing it was to have friends and musicians local and global contribute to our ambitious remix album of our 14-track full-lengther from the previous year. It also officially closes the chapter for that era of music as we venture and write the next series of releases. (bonus shout-out to Lorelei Dreaming for asking us to contribute Edge Of The World (Digital Gnosis Remix) to her first release, Banshee, that came out 20170501!)

02. 20170303, 20171027. royb0t releases. Gradient Ascent album, Breather Tracks Ltd Ed VHS EP, and Collision Entropy single. So happy to share the music I’ve been working on personally and for anyone to even bother listening to it. Still blown away by how well received and quickly folks picked up the Breather Tracks VHS. I think you’ll be psyched with what I have in store for next year. ;]

01. Everyday because of you all! Ah, I hope you don’t get sick of me saying this, but just having folks out there dig my music and art enough to come out to an event, buy a release, listen to my music or like/reblog my art is always so astounding. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! :]
