#Repost @historicalroyals #inrepostme @insaver.best —— From the royal wardrobe - Queen Louise's weeding dress 👰🏼💕 a masterpiece made for a future queen. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• On 19 June (1850) Princess Louise of the Netherlands (1828-1871), married Crown Prince Karl of Sweden. As the future queen, she had all the qualities that the royal family was looking for. She was a Protestant, politically fit, and came from a wealthy family. Therefore, this dress was made for the twenty-two-year-old princess to shine in on her wedding day. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The dress is made of velvet and silver cotton. It is simple yet elegant, with embroidery of flowers on the skirt. It has a shaped lace waist, cut from 8 pieces who goes down in a deep point forward, almost straight down in the back. The dress also have a deep fashion-typical neckline that goes out over the shoulders, and the sleeves are covered with tulle. In each sleeve is a thin silver ribbon in the dress's fabric attached, which forms a long hanging loop. Around the waistline are four small sewn loops two in the back and two in the front - for hooking the bridal trailer. The decor of the dress grows from the bottom of the skirt up to the middle of the dress, right in front. At the bottom, the skirt is lined with a thin, lace-like openwork silver gallon. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The dress can be viewed at ”Livrustkammaren” on Stockholm Palace, among other royal clothes from Swedish kings and queens through history. #fromtheroyalwardrobe #royalweedingdress #royaldresses #louiseofthenetherlands #princessofthenetherlands #queenofsweden #historicalroyals (presso Villa Lante Bagnaia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHGj4KYBePD/?igshid=1eyh5w7bt5y38
