A Night at the Opera
Ernest and Jasper were both no friends of the big appearance. Their parents had taught them from an early age to always appear far less than they were. The two had come to the opera by subway. That Ernest's velvet loafers cost more than a month's salary of most people around them, probably no one suspected here. The red carpet was laid out for the premiere in front of the Royal Opera. As Ernst and Jasper approached, a rapidly fading flurry of flashbulbs began. The two looked like stars. Flawless. Beautiful. Cultivated. But no one had a clue who they were. So the photographers pounced on the C-list couple, who were getting out of a presumably leased Bentley right behind them. Ernest raised an eyebrow, barely noticeable. Jasper smiled knowingly. The two politely accepted the program and went to Jasper's family box. They had made a generous donation over 200 years ago that enabled the laying of the building's foundation stone. And together with Ernest's grandmother, Jasper's father now ruled over the opera's patrons' association. It was not a problem if they were not recognized here.

During the first intermission, the two quickly agreed that it would be a wasted evening if they were to watch the opera to the end. The singers were mediocre, and the production tried to paper over logical gaps with crude, obscene provocation. Yes, Siegfried was certainly no easy opera. But they actually loved Wagner. But they wouldn't survive another three hours like that. Ending the evening with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace seemed considerably more appealing. They exchanged a few pleasantries with acquaintances of their parents, who were also waiting at the coat rack, and walked through the dusk towards the subway. And they were happy with their decision.
The subway wasn't particularly crowded: Jasper had bought a copy of the Times from a newspaper seller. Even though the premiere was still going on, there was already a scathing review of it in the arts section. Of course the critic was unfair and biased. But his style was delicious. Ernest hummed a bit of the overture's melody when a young man, who was the complete opposite of the two, stumbled over Ernest's legs on his way out the door. The boy was muscular, tattooed, and dressed to show off as much of the muscles and tattoos as possible. Definitely not their class. He swore and showed Ernest the middle finger. Ernest just smiled superiorly. And got the slime from the yob directly in the face. “Do you think you're better than me? Maybe. But not for much longer.” The yob laughed and jumped through the already closing doors onto the platform. Ernest wiped the slime from his cheek. Not all of it… A little bit had run into his mouth.
They got off at the next stop. Ernest's stomach growled. He asked if they could quickly get something from the supermarket on the way home. Jasper said that the fridge at home was well stocked, but he was happy to do it for me. Cumberland Food & Wine was really on the way and he could possibly get a bottle of red wine. While Jasper was scouring the shelves without finding anything he liked, Ernest filled his shopping basket with protein bars, chicken breasts, rice and eggs. When the two met at the checkout, Jasper looked at his husband questioningly. “I just felt like it,” answered Ernest. “Honey, anything you want!” answered Jasper.
Once they arrived home, Ernest immediately disappeared into the kitchen of their impressive apartment on Bryanston Square. By then, he had already eaten three protein bars. Jasper rolled his eyes and retreated to the library. He took a small glass of port and continued reading about the history of the Persian language. At least this way he would be able to end the evening with a little wit. He lost track of time and only woke up when he heard noises coming from the living room. Ernest had taken off his jacket and shirt and was eating a mountain of chicken breasts with egg rice at the coffee table, still wearing his trousers and undershirt. The TV was on. “What are you watching?” Jasper asked. With his mouth full, Ernest replied that it was the new season of “Made in Chelsea”. “You know, the stuff with Reza in it.” Jasper didn't know Reza. ‘The Reza from the gym. Reza Amiri-Garroussi!’ Ernest wiped his hands on his undershirt, pulled out his cell phone, opened Instagram and showed Jasper pictures of a young man. Jasper didn't even know Ernest had an Instagram account. ”Hot guy, honey! Do you know each other?” “Best bros!” Ernest smiled. Tonight had obviously not had a good influence on him. Whatever. Jasper was tired. He kissed his husband on the forehead and wished him good night.
The night had been wild. Ernest had come to bed at some point and had rammed his boner into Jasper's ass without much warning. This wasn't loving sex, it was fucking without any foreplay. Hot, animalistic. Uncharacteristic. But damn, once Ernest had filled his ass until the cum was dripping out of it, Jasper didn't care about any of that. He had never been fucked like that before. No wonder the rest of the night was full of wild dreams. When he woke up, Ernest was no longer in bed. The satin sheets needed urgent washing, with dried cum stains everywhere. Jasper went to the kitchen. Ernest had obviously already had breakfast; the pan for the omelette was in the sink, along with the dishes from dinner, and on the work surface was a thin layer of protein powder dust. Jasper felt somehow strange in the apartment. Something was weird. Did they always have such a monstrously large TV? And was that their furniture? It all looked so much like something from a furniture store. And not like design classics and antiques… “Bros, that's it for this morning! Good pump! Have a sick day!” The sound of the dumbbells hitting the floor showed that Ernie had finished his morning pump. According to the floor plan, their home gym was actually a children's room. What the hell would they need that for? Now it was the place where Ernie shot the videos for his YouTube channel.
Jasper was standing in the doorway. Ernie turned off the cameras and lights. Sweat glistened on his naked torso. Jasper's cock went up. Ernie turned around, saw the semi-erect cock and just grinned, “You dirty piece of shit! You know damn well we're out of time. Auditions are in an hour. And you should shower.” “Look who's talking!” Jasper replied. Ernie smelled his armpit. “That's the way it is, it's my trademark!” He put on a basketball jersey lying on the floor, grabbed Jasper's cock in passing and gave his friend a fleeting French kiss. Jasper knew that Ernie had rights. They had to leave in 20 minutes at the latest. Just enough time to jump in the shower and do a few pull-ups to pump up his muscles. He looked at himself in the mirror. Yes, he looked awesome!

“Love Island” could be Jaz's big breakthrough. At the audition, he was simply eye-catching as the incarnate bad boy. His snotty way of speaking and his arrogant, misogynistic macho appearance had convinced the producers that he could make it big in the trash reality soap. Sure, it sucked that his best buddy Ernie hadn't been taken on either. But Ernie was just already too popular. His fitness channel had tens of thousands of followers. And his appearance in the next season of “I'm a celebrity, get me out of here” was a done deal. If things went well for Jaz, he would follow in Ernie's footsteps next year.

Many bores from the educated middle class would probably look down on Ernie and Jaz with disgust and contempt. But hey, the two of them made good money, went to all the hot parties, and last weekend Bentley had even provided them with a shiny gold car for an Insta-story. The car had been pure porn. Surely everyone who stared at them with open eyes thought they were pop stars or something. It was only a matter of time before they became famous. They were young, sexy and camera-hungry. The future was wide open for guys like them.

Plagiarist: "The Art of the Handwritten Note" is by author Margaret Shepherd NOT Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex County
The Art of the Handwritten Note: "Corresponding on paper let's you elevate a simple pleasure into an artform." -Margaret Shepherd 2002
Plagiarism has become an artform for Meghan Markle Duchess of Sussex County who frequently quotes Margaret Shepherd (famed author and calligrapher) without crediting her book or work.
Photos from my own copy of The Art of The Handwritten Note (published by Shepherd in 2002):

Pretentiousness
MM obviously practiced her hand lettering and penmanship for this series because it looks much more polished and presentable. She really thinks her handwriting is the definition of "classy." Perhaps as a child it provided her with immediate praise that fed her narcissism. No thanks to Thomas Markle who contracted with Nickelodeon to film her writing the dish soap letter from hell.
Harry has to explain to the Irish why it's taking such a long time for his wife to sign her name.🤪
"That's How I Paid My Bills"
She claims to have paid her bills by working as a "freelance calligrapher." Paula Patton did not hire Meghan Markle to address her wedding invitations, she hired Paper Source Retail Stores.
MEgain worked as a retail associate for Paper Source where they sell stationary, gift wrap, party supplies, etc. The associates are trained to teach customers how to use their products. Sometimes they offer mini workshops throughout the year: bookbinding as a craft, gift wrapping, hand lettering, and of course some stores will also address your invitations.

"Our kids have REAL sets" she bragged 🙄
What kind of parent recommends that toddlers play with REAL trowels in the backseat of the car as a "distraction" during the ride home from a toddler's birthday party?🏨🏥🚑 Oh and no candy in those bags, just a manuka honey stick gifted from a person who said she doesn't even like honey. 🤪

Moma Knows Best
Meghan Markle's handwriting is "faux calligraphy" with doodles & flourishes. Lady C described it as "pretension gone riot." In this episode she's obviously clapping back at her critics by revealing to the world she made an A- in handwriting due to "those little swirls."
"I'll take the minus for a bit of character."
Right there she's explained to us that it's her way or the highway. She knows what's required but chooses not to meet those expectations because in her narcissist mind, she actually knows best.
Soho House Tradwife plays Hostess

In the context of this lifestyle series, Lady C made some excellent points about how an experienced hostess doesn't have the time to spend on tasks that should be assigned to the hired help. When I reviewed the images from her luncheon, it was obvious that the guests didn't enjoy her food. Perhaps in part because the hostess covered up the table in those ridiculous flowers instead of creating SPACE for people to actually sit down at the table to eat their meals.

Revisionist History
This "SERIES" was another Solo Meghan attempt at an image make over and infomercial. With each new man, her adult life seems to be a transactional stepping stone of revisionist history. In the case of the Spare, Harry offered her his name, titles, family, country, wealth to erase her Soho House yachting lifestyle and launch her into global stardom. In exchange the Spare would receive his freedom from what he perceived as a trapped future and the rigors of royal service. The Spare made a deal with the devil, but that is a topic for another time.

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 31 Review - Escape Room
This is certainly an episode that requires a lot of thought, whether it be about Jinshi’s lineage or about the contents of this episode. It really sets the tone for what’s to come for Jinshi. As I am an anime-only watcher for now, my theories may or may not be correct.
With the nightmare Jinshi had, I’m assuming that he knows his entire life is a facade. I think he is aware that he is Ah Duo’s son given their extremely strong resemblance and he did describe the current Emperor as “The man I thought was my father but was actually my brother”, meaning that he knows the current Emperor is his father, but has to play the role of his brother. Earlier in the first season, Maomao, and the viewers, learned about how the actual second prince died due to Fengming feeding him honey and how Jinshi had to take his place. Though, there is something that is puzzling me a bit. Weren’t the second prince and Jinshi born around the same time? So, why is Jinshi, who’s actually 19 years old, posing as the 23-year-old prince? Shouldn’t the Second Prince be 19 years old too? Did the Prince die when he was four?
It seems that he wasn’t aware of the other members of his family, given that he didn’t know that the old man who had approached him as a kid was his “father”, and the previous Emperor who is a pedophile and the old woman was his grandmother. All I can say is that Jinshi’s family lineage is really confusing and it’s crazy how Fengming’s one mistake spiraled this entire convolution.
Basically, the current Emperor and Jinshi share the same blood, so the escape room sort of thing was sort of a test to see if Jinshi is worthy of the throne, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s interested in being Emperor. I think the whole colorblind thing was creative and that it belongs to those of the royal family. I wonder if the whole test thing is to see if someone has the intelligence to figure it out even if they aren’t colorblind because it seems that trait has been diluted out of the bloodline. Since the Emperor and Jinshi aren’t colorblind, it befalls to someone who has to be knowledgable to figure it out.
That’s where Maomao comes in. The old teacher was basically provoking her to solve the mystery, so she did just that. I also think that this whole thing is to show that Jinshi has a fine prospect by his side, even if he isn’t willing to take the throne. Heck, the whole ordeal just seems like the Emperor wanted the Jinmao ship to progress. Maomao’s intelligence is the key point of this episode as she also figures out Jinshi’s lineage, but chose not to speak about it—correct me if Im wrong. Though, there is another thing I’m curious about: how come the Emperor knows about Maomao being Lakan’s daughter? Does word spread that fast?
Speaking of the Emperor, it’s crazy how we’re thirty-one episodes in and this is when he gets some spotlight. He’s surprisingly a chill man. It’s funny how he had thought about Maomao becoming one of his consorts, but it wasn’t mean to be taken seriously as he has a type in well-endowed women and Maomao does NOT fit that—he even said that aloud. Given that the royal family has colorblindness but he doesn’t, I wonder if such a trait will ever return in one of his kids?
Overall, Jinshi’s lineage is super complicated and I don’t want to think too much about it now that I’ve theorized and discussed about it. I do wonder what Jinshi is going to do. Will he get together with Maomao in the future? Is he even allowed to do so? Let me know your thoughts about this episode and feel free to answer any questions I have.

2025 and I still laugh when someone complains that the author made a VADTD character dirty... And by this I mean that the author gives them problematic characteristics.. For example, Eckles, a guy who was chilling in his royal palace with his family until everything changed when the Eorka empire attacked...
To this day you can still read comments saying that if Penelope had been more empathetic and paid attention to him, he wouldn't have become like this or that without Laila's intervention, everything would have been fine... LOL
He is a victim of slavery with a lot of pain and post-traumatic stress, who clearly shows a resentment towards the empire, plus is canonically described as taciturn...
HOW THE HELL DO YOU THINK HE'S GOING TO RECOVER FROM THAT? With the power of love and friendship? With an epic tale of salvation and revenge?
... Yeah, it probably works in fanfics, but NO on VADTD. That's not how Gwon Gyeoeul's characters are.
Even in the same story, after the side stories, Penelope, who had a happy ending, still worried that someone would want to attack her family or that she would disappear from that world since she was a transmigrate. That's how PTSD works.
Eckles is Eckles precisely because of his painful past that shaped him into what he is in the future: someone with trauma who became obsessed with the one person he interacted with most often... and later an adrenaline junkie and mercenary lol
Derrick is Derrick for being an obtuse man who took refuge in his title of heir and in work from a young age, since he never healed the loss of his sister.
The funniest thing is that some people think the author was unfair to them and then, on the author's blog, you can see how she speaks affectionately of Eckles or Derrick lol
And all the other characters are like that because their cursed past made them distrustful, even cruel in some cases... or even with dark desires... And yes, I speak of dark desires because some turn a blind eye to the dark lock that certain characters have on their affection score and are visible in the manhwa. Each character has a twisted quality to a greater or lesser extent, a product of the author's decision, not necessarily influenced by Penelope or Laila, but by the author's taste and whim.
I mentioned it once and I do it again, while some believe that the author is making them dirty, what she actually does is pour honey on them... In a twisted way... I know, this is probably uncomfortable for someone who doesn't know the author's previous works, but I do...
And let me tell you that one of her first works was "미친 새끼 (crazy kid/bastard)". Do you know what it's about? According to the Naver reviews, because this book can't be found anymore, it's about a teenager who falls in love with his schoolmate and innocently fantasizes about her as his girlfriend, until one day by chance he starts spying on an apartment of lovers who sometimes have intimacy... Everything is more or less normal up to this point until the reviews say that there is a plot twist in the story:
The protagonist, after interacting with the female lover, realizes that she is actually kidnapped and is suffering from s*xual abuse. He then decides to help her escape, but at the climax of the story, while trying to free her and struggling with the kidnapper, he accidentally kills the victim and the kidnapper also dies in the event... Do you want to know how it ends? Traumatized by the event, he repeats the same patterns as the kidnapper and kidnaps his classmate and locks her in a place where no one can find them... THE END.
This peculiar story is just one of many stories that Gwon Gyeoeul has written with this theme of thriller and dark romance. And not to mention her works where the victim becomes the victimizer, because in almost all of them, her characters have a gray morality.
VADTD is by far a work with one of the few conclusive and happy endings in Gyeoeul's work history. So next time, don't tell me the author is dirtying the characters in VADTD, because by far, they are innocent next to other more twisted characters she has written.

WASP REVIEW - WAR WASPS (METROID PRIME)
[Image IDs: Two pieces of official artwork for the War Wasps from Metroid Prime, the first from the remaster while the second is from the original game /End IDs.]
This is actually the first wasp I'm covering from a game I haven't played, although I do plan on getting around to it, so forgive me if I misinterpret! With that out of the way, my first impression of these alien wasps is that, visually, in terms of shape, especially with their stinger sticking out in the way it does, they most resemble ichneumons, with the remaster version especially looking like Megarhyssa greenei!
[Image Source: bugguide.net | Image ID: A photo of greene's giant ichneumonid wasp, a large brown, yellow, and black ichneumon wasp with translucent wings and an exceptionally long ovipositor /End IDs.]
Except for a few details of this wasp's silhouette that are clear in both the remaster art and models in a good chunk of the games from what I can see, that being the almost beetle elytra-like protrusions above the translucent wings on the thorax, the spines on the abdomen and thorax, the lack of a third pair of legs, and, perhaps most obviously, the bird-like eye shape and beak they have for a mouth.
Although the last point is notably different in the art of the original game as well as the species shown in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which has no legs as well as a rounder head with 9 eyes, in three groups, each almost resembling how the ocelli are assembled on the top of a real world wasp's head.
[Image ID A screenshot of the War Wasp from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes /End IDs.]
Although, the resemblance to ichneumons seems to be entirely visual, as ichneumons are solitary, and these guys are eusocial! They build hives and mainly attack in defense of the hive, this hive being built over existing crevices and made of whatever material they can get their hands on, gluing pieces into place with "adhesives secreted from their abdomens", a process which is seemingly similar to how a honey bee (actually technically, taxonomically another eusocial wasp itself, bees having evolved from other wasps as a sister lineage of Ammoplanidae) would produce wax from its abdomen, similarly sharing the aspect of "royal jelly" production with bees.
[Image ID: A 3D render of the hive of a War Wasp colony from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes /End ID.]
In fact, they're possibly even more than eusocial, as the logbook entry for the green and red variant found in the Hive Totem of Tallon IV, Ram War Wasps, states: "The War Wasps are the only species on Tallon IV to evolve a true hive mind", as well as "Striking from all sides as a single intelligence, they can fell huge organisms". Although it is unclear whether the consciousness of the War Wasps being a hive mind is true for all species or just the Ram War Wasps, as both regular War Wasps (Prime 1 and Echoes both being different) and Barbed War Wasps display notably different behavior.
On the topic of said behavior, however, on top of the ramming behavior of the Ram War Wasps, the standard War Wasps in the original Metroid Prime seem similar to notable stinging eusocial species of wasps, namely Vespids, in that, upon spotting a threat to the hive, they divebomb and attempt to directly sting the threat. Although they're a bit more territorial than even eusocial Vespids, as, in the real world, you would be able to get fairly close to their nest without being attacked if you know what you're doing (See a previous ask I received for more information about my experience with this), while War Wasps attack from much, much further away!
Meanwhile, the standard War Wasps in Echoes and the Barbed War Wasps in Prime 1 actually fire projectiles, a feature found in very few wasps, namely ants like some Formica wood ants and yellow crazy ants (Ants having evolved from wasps in a similar way as bees, taxonomically being wasps). Although whereas these ants spray acid, the projectile firing War Wasps fire beams of pure energy (Standard, Echoes) or their stingers (Barbed, Prime 1).
The logbook entry for Barbed War Wasps states: "This insect can propel the tip of its stinger up to 20 meters. The stinger tips regrow seconds after launch and contain an acidic compound designed to predigest prey". Obviously, while shockingly efficient and fascinating as many things real wasps do possess, this isn't something found in real world wasps. Even the aspect of predigestion is something more akin to assassin bugs, who inject venom via their "beaks" to predigest the prey that they hunt.
In conclusion, however, being aliens, I can't exactly rank them on their merit of being "accurate to real wasps", instead, it's best I score them just based on how neat I find them! and honestly, I find the War Wasps to be very interesting, it's clear the writers of Metroid put quite a bit of thought into how they behave, and they just have cool designs!

I'm confused, what is her brand suppose to sell exactly? Is it products she "makes" or is it other brands that she gets a commission on?
That is the big question - it's not clear and no one is sure.
There have been several rumors about Meghan's intention with her lifestyle brand that I think are worth reviewing:
Subscription box with Hilaria Baldwin
Luxury lifestyle brand like Flamingo Estate, where it's mostly Meghan's own product and a few collaborations. (I think Flamingo Estate is mostly their own products? I don't really follow them so I'm not sure.)
Luxury lifestyle brand like Goop, where it's mostly other brands' products that she makes a commission on and some of her own product.
Sexual wellness products with the Kardashians. (Don't shoot the messenger.)
Personal endorsements like Oprah's Favorite Things that Meghan sells on her website and she takes a commission from sales (aka the 'Royal Warrant' option).
I think it's going to be #3 - she sells other brands' products along with her own jam, honey, dog biscuits, and calligraphy/stationery sets. I feel like whatever she features in the Netflix show will be the products/brands she sells on 'As Ever' (as the Queen of Lifestyle Television, Martha Stewart, does).
#5 also has very strong potential, but I think that's what Netflix and her Instagram is for (mostly Netflix). If she didn't have Netflix to make her endorsements with, then I'd expect to see her launch a new blog sooner rather than later, maybe in tandem with the website. But since she has the Netflix show, the blog might still be a ways off.
Anyway, my $0.02 is on #3. A Goop rip-off with the aesthetics of Flamingo Estate.

Masterlist Tokio Hotel - Masterlist Connected by music • Tom Kaulitz

I once read somewhere that one of the only certainties in life is uncertainty. At the time, I remember that I found it confusing and I didn't insist on understanding what it meant.
Years later I understood.
୨୧ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ୨୧
My breathing was heavy, my eyes were burning, a bitter feeling in my throat, and my heart was pounding.
His eyes were shining, his breathing was labored and he still remained nervous. He was waiting for my answer...
"Yes" I said, I didn't think, I just said.
He smiled, put the ring on my finger, and it fit perfectly.
He got up and kissed me, a kiss so desperate and passionate it gave me chills, I don't know why.
"Come on, let's tell everyone" He dropped his hand that was around my neck to my hand that didn't have the bouquet.
"Go first, I need to process that this actually happened." I said with an excited voice and a clearly fake smile, both.
He nodded and kissed the top of my head and left, I could hear him screaming, "SHE SAID YES", everyone was screaming and applauding.
I looked at my watch, it was 11:59 pm, we were here for almost an hour, I didn't want to go there right now...
I could hear them screaming as they counted down the seconds to the new year.
3!
...
2!
...
1!
"FELIZ ANO NOVO" (HAPPY NEW YEAR) Shouts, whistles, loud music.
I smiled to myself, I knew that Bruce was looking for me, but I also knew that my mother convinced him to leave me alone for a while, she knew that I appreciated my moments alone.
I know I should have been there, but I didn't want to, didn't want eyes focused entirely on me, congratulating me all the time. Suffocating.
"Hey honey, hurry up, we're late for the party" A blonde girl like 2000s clothes said from across the beach, next to a royal blue car.
I smiled and looked around, thinking it wasn't me, but it was.
I approached and greeted her from afar, she approached and hugged me friendly and then pulled me by the hand to get into the car.
I insisted that I didn't want to go, but when I realized it, I was already in the car with two other girls, one behind the wheel and the other in the copilot.
They talked and as incredible as they seem, they included me too.
They introduced themselves, the blonde was Larissa, the brunette Julia and the redhead, who was the copilot, Olivia.
We arrived at such a party that the first girl said, the brunette who was driving parked the car next to the place, we left and I left the bouquet in the car.
There was a huge queue, but it seemed that the security guard knew the girls, they greeted them and we entered.
Loud music, the smell of sweat, cigarettes and all kinds of drinks that exist was remarkable. Played several famous songs from the 2000s.
Maybe it was a retro ballad?
୨୧ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ୨୧
She was panting, sweaty and thirsty. I looked at the watch on my wrist, it was 3:21. I had talked to my parents and Bruce about where I was, I lied a little bit. I had said that I had found some friends and we left, they were worried but I ignored it.
I spoke with the girls that I would go to the bar to get a drink, I asked if they wanted it and they denied it.
I walked there, and sat on a bench that was free and waited for the bartender to serve me.
I looked around and I had never noticed that there was a club here in Morro de São Paulo, in all these years. I know there was one years ago, but it had closed.
My gaze landed on the calendar in front of me, it was dark but I could still see it.
On the calendar it said today was January 1, 2008.

Rick and Morty season 4 episode 3 "One Crew Over Crewcoo's Morty" Review!
Let me start off this review by giving a very royal "Fuck you" to Rick! He truly wears the crown of shit in this episode! I hate him in this episode <3 I usually love him, but this one was definitely him at his worst, next to him absolutely destroying Morty's psyche in "The Vat of Acid Episode" and straight up punching Morty's "Rattlesnake Ricklactica" a very royal "Fuck you!" to him for both of those moments as well, all in season 4! This was definitely him at his lowest point. Now onto the review, just had to rant for a bit, ahem, surprise, surprise, I did not like this episode, not only was Rick incredibly unlikable in this episode when he's usually my favorite character, but I could excuse Rick being a horrible person, if the episode was funny, and while this episode had like...two jokes I laughed at that was it.
Random thoughts:
You can do it, Morty! We all believe in you son!
A very royal "Fuck you!" to Rick here! The poor boy was so excitied...
Quick buddy nickname appreciation! (Let me find something wholesome about this episode ok-)
This was a cool shot tbh
Someone else mentioned this, but I think this line sent Rick's brain into panic mode, losing Morty is probably the last thing he wants considering that he already lost Diane, that doesn't make anything he did in this episode ok, and a very royal "Fuck you!" to him again, but I think the reason why was because he was scared of losing him, but still fuck him.
Yes Beth actually being a decent mom we love you for trying honey!
MY POOR SWEET BABY NO THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT RICK WANTED TO HEAR MY POOR SWEET BABY NOOOO
FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU I FUCKING HATE YOU DRUNK OLD ASS POSSESSIVE CONTROLLING JEALOUS MANIPULATIVE COLD GROSS CRANKY FUCKING SAD EXCUSE FOR A MAN. Ahem. I'm so normal about them.
Final Rating: 2/10 for the 2 jokes I laughed at.

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Season 2 Review
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is an anime which combines the fantasy comedy, isekai, and iyashikei genres. It is based on an ongoing 19-volume Japanese light novel series written by Kumanano and illustrated by 029. This series is produced by Japanese animation studio EMT Squared. Hisashi Ishii and Yuu Nobuta are series directors. This review will have spoilers.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the thirty-sixth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on June 23, 2023.
The show's first season introduces Yuna (voiced by Maki Kawase), a bored teenager reincarnated in a fantasy world. The higher power (voiced by Shizuka Itou) gifts her an all-powerful, but comical, bear suit. She tries to adapt to her new life and finds it more fulfilling than anything she had on Earth. In the process, she becomes close to Fina (voiced by Azumi Waki), a 10-year-old girl and Crimonia town resident. Fina soon becomes her work partner and her sister. She is drawn to another ten-year-old named Noire "Noa" Foschurose (voiced by Rina Hidaka), who founds a fan club for the bears that Yuna uses to defeat monsters (Kumakyū and Kumayuru). The younger sister of Fina, Shuri (voiced by Miyu Tomita), and granddaughter of Gran Farrengram, Misana "Misa" Farrengram (voiced by Satomi Amano) also become her friends. Along the way, Yuna meets nobles, maids, fellow adventurers, and princesses.
Although the series is an isekai, it is more like I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, than any other series out there. Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is arguably an iyashikei, a Japanese slice-of-life work which portrays characters in calm environments. Such works have less focus on the plot or characters, but more on an immersive setting and worldbuilding. It is unlike other anime in the same genre, as few are fantasy comedies, and none, that I'm aware of, are isekai.
This makes Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear unique. There's no focus on romance, music, camping, or mystery, as other iyashikei have done. Instead, Yuna is only trying to enjoy her life, with the help of her friends, and her bears Kumakyū and Kumayuru. Thanks to her bear powers she can even create structures, like houses to live in. The series has strong yuri subtext primarily manifested in the close relationship between Yuna and Fina. Also, female characters far outnumber male ones.
The laid-back tone of the series offsets other more drama-filled anime, such as The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, Ippon Again!, Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible, and The Dangers in My Heart. The same can be said of Western animation such as Villainous, RWBY, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and Velma.
The second season of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, also known as Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Punch, is much more than that. It continues the plotlines from the first season. In the first episode of this season, there are flashbacks to remind the audience what happened. Yuna has become a bit of a celebrity and is called "Bear sis". While she isn't used to this, she doesn't shirk away from helping others. She even drives away orcs from a honey tree, so that she can have honey on her pancakes at a local cafe.
Yuna is often pulled into the world of nobles. Her fan club includes princesses Flora (voiced by Hina Kino), Noa, and Misa. Even the local feudal lord of Crimonia, Cliff Foschurose (voiced by Kōji Yusa), owes her favors. As such, she agrees to make picture books for those in the castle, but not anyone outside of it. This contrasts with the goal of Myne, in Ascendance of a Bookworm, who wants to provide books to the masses. At one point, Yuna caves to pressure and reluctantly agrees to a task given to her by noble Eleanora Foschurose (voiced by Yuiko Tatsumi): guarding students of the royal academy for firsthand training.
The latter duty, predictably, annoys Yuna, as she is comfortable with her simple life in Crimonia. The arc with the students, compromising the second and third episodes, lampoons incorrect judgment of others. Two students, Cattleya and Marix, voiced by Misuzu Yamada and Misato Matsuoka respectfully, think that Yuna is a spoiled and rich lady, and not even an adventurer. In contrast, Yuna finds it exhausting to be around people her age.
As often happens, Yuna easily defeats the beast, known as a black tiger, and takes the pelt for herself, thanks to her bear equipment. The lesson is that no one should judge someone else based on their looks. Such an empowering statement rings true when watched today or any time in the future.
While some children in Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear work, these children are enthusiastic about their work. In the fourth episode, Sherry (voiced by Kozue Yūki) makes a cushion for Yuna and aprons for those at the Bear-themed diner. She later becomes an apprentice at a tailor's shop. Since Sherry is enjoying her work as an apprentice, for which she is probably paid, I'm entirely convinced it is child labor.
Child labor is often defined as any work which deprives children of their childhood, interferes with school attendance. It can also be any work which is harmful mentally, physically, morally, or socially. I'm not sure if Sherry's work is affecting her personal development or health. Her duties are akin to assisting a family business. Arguably, her work is contributing to her development as a child and providing experience and skills. It may even be preparing her to become a productive person later in her life, as an adult. Furthermore, she is not enslaved nor engaged in illicit activities.
youtube
Sometimes, the isekai nature of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is stronger than at other times. In the fifth episode of this season, Yuna learns that Fina can't cut through the skin of a black tiger with her current knife, and is determined to get a mithril knife. However, to do that, she has to fight golems in a cave, which are blocking access to the resource. While she collaborates with other adventurers, she ends up clearing the cave and getting what she is after by herself. She even receives a finds a substance named Bearmonite. She later believes that the God of the world set up the whole situation so she could get a reward. At another point, she even admits that the mithril knives remind of her previous life as a shut-in gamer.
As for Fina, her fear of nobles may be symbolic of her desire to be at Yuna's side no matter what. For example, she is terrified of people trying to make her wear expensive clothes. She is afraid if the clothes are ripped, she will be chastised. Adding to this, she worries about accidentally offending the King. As it turns out, the nobles don't mind her. They ease her nervousness. Even the King thinks that Yuna is annoyed with him! He believes that Fina is more well-mannered than Yuna. When she ends up spilling orange juice on her clothes, her worry fades away. It turns out that those at the castle are just as messy as her.
Otherwise, food and eating are another key part of the Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear story. This is exemplified by Yuna winning over the mother of Fina. The latter is annoyed that Yuna wants to give Fina an expensive mithril knife. Yuna makes her strawberry shortcake, which she calls "devil's dessert". In another episode, Yuna works with Nerin (voiced by Saki Ichimura) and others to bake the same dessert. She gives the same dessert to those within the castle. In the same episode, a maid named Lala helps her and Fina brew tea together, and the royal chef, Zeref (voiced by Taichi Takeda), thanks Yuna for previous recipes.
This plotline reminded me of the slice-of-life comedy drama, Antique Bakery, the only cooking anime I've watched, and the centrality of food in the Laid-Back Camp, an adventure iyashikei, and in series such as Is the Order a Rabbit?, Tokyo Mew Mew (and the sequel), and Sweetness & Lightning. I also immediately thought of the third ending sequence of Cardcaptor Sakura, set to the song Fruits Candy by Megumi Kojima. The sequence depicts protagonists Sakura Kinomoto, Tomoyo Daidouji, and Kero as baking (and decorating) a cake together. In fact, it is my favorite ending sequence of that magical girl anime.
Another important theme is the message that overwork is not a positive. In the ninth episode of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, characters discourage Sherry from tiring herself out. This is like I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, mentioned earlier in this article, which is strongly against overwork. In this series, Yuna likes her easy life, and doesn't do more work than she has to. She likely encourages others to do the same.
The last few episodes, comprising the final series arc, are more dramatic. Fina, Yuna, Cliff, and Noa all go to the castle where Misa and the rest of the Farrengram family are living. There is conflict with nobles, including the Salbard family, who control half of Sheelin. The Farrengram family control the other half. The Salbard family want to take over the entire city for themselves. Thanks to her friendship with the nobles in Crimonia, Yuna easily navigates through this class conflict. She even brings in the royal chef of Zelef to ensure that the birthday celebration of Misa goes as planned.
In this arc, one of the worst characters, Gajurud (voiced by Yasuhiro Mamiya), is introduced. He is arrogant, brash, and likes to get his way. He falls right into a trap, since Zelef promises to report the insults that Gajurud hurled at him, and the food, back to the King. Gajurud's lackeys even abandon him and claim their taste was off because of colds. His awful son, Juliane (voiced by Yōko Fujita), declares he will strike back. It appears, at first, that this attack will occur when Yuna is wearing a dress, for the first time. She is only wearing some of her bear gear, making her a bit more vulnerable.
The final episode of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear dashes the latter possibility. Yuna, wearing her bear suit, races to save Misa. The latter was kidnapped by the arrogant son of Gajurud, Juliane, with the help of the bodyguard, Brad. This all makes for an enjoyable action sequence. Yuna busts into the Salbard family mansion, beats up two nobles (Juliane and Gajurud), and clocks the bodyguard, after he underestimates her. As often happens in this series, characters underestimate how powerful Yuna is. They believe they can commit heinous acts because they see her as a kid in a bear suit.
This perception is incorrect. Yuna fights to protect her friends and those she cares about. She has a license to do this, to an extent, thanks to support from friendly nobles. In fact, Eleanora helps in this case, by arresting Gajurud and Juliane, with the help of royal guards. The mansion is then searched to retroactively uncover evidence to justify their arrest. This is an intense use of royal power, but is justified by the fact that they kidnapped Misa, and three other children from around the city.
Yuna cares about other people. In the final episode, she hugs and comforts Misa. Understandably, Misa is terrified after she was brazenly kidnapped. Yuna also reunites Misa with Fina and Noa, following her rescue. These actions make Cliff, and the Farrengram family, eternally grateful. Misa, Noa, and Fina even start to believe that Yuna is a goddess. She accepts this, to an extent, even when she is called the goddess of bears.
youtube
The final episode of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear ends nicely and ties up loose ends. However, retributive justice is shown uncritically. Gajurud and his son, Juliane, are imprisoned. They are given the death penalty after a "mountain of evidence" results in their convictions. Brad is imprisoned, exiled, and stripped of his title. Furthermore, the Salbard family property is confiscated, and the economy recovers. Adding to this, Misa's father becomes sole leader of Sheelin. All of this makes sense, considering the crimes of Gajurud, Juliane, and Brad.
In a large part, this reinforces retributive justice paradigms. The punishment of the nobles is imposed, without possibility of remorse. The state unilaterally declares what is, and isn't, a crime. In some ways, Yuna is in league with the criminal system of this medieval world. There is the presumed widespread belief that those accused of crimes cannot be rehabilitated.
The series doesn't turn these paradigms on their head like Villainous. The ending could have depicted restorative justice as being applied to the villains. Unfortunately, the writers didn't want to go that route. This isn't a shock, considering there are few examples of this in fiction, other than depictions in documentaries, podcasts, or films such as Red Dust. Furthermore, there is still continued debate over this approach to crime.
On the other hand, Yuna's violence is primarily defensive and meant to protect her friends. She doesn't go on rampages against any villains, but chooses when and where she acts violently. She lashes out at Gajurud, Juliane, Brad, and their guards. Understandably, she is furious they kidnapped one of her friends and hurt her friends in the process. No one can fault her for that.
Apart from what I've mentioned previously about this series, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear shines through is in its voiced acting. Maki Kawase, Azumi Waki, and Rina Hidaka, who voice three of the protagonists, are known for their voice work in Tamayomi, Kandagawa Jet Girls, A Centaur's Life, Michiko & Hatchin, YuruYuri, and Ms. Vampire Who Lives in My Neighborhood.
More prominently, Kawase voiced Shima Iwashita in Bocchi the Rock!. Waki previously voiced Flatorte in I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, Tsukimi Teruya in The Aquatope on White Sand, and Takumi in Do It Yourself!! Hidaka lent her voice as Kobachi Osaragi in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?, Ren Yamai in Komi Can't Communicate, and Himi Akane in Princess Connect! Re:Dive, to name a few.
Voice actors, such as Miyu Tomita, Satomi Amano, Hina Kino, Kōji Yusa, Yuiko Tatsumi, Misuzu Yamada, Misato Matsuoka, Kozue Yūki, Saki Ichimura, Taichi Takeda, Shizuka Itou, Yasuhiro Mamiya, and Yōko Fujita, make the series stronger. Some appeared in series like Otherside Picnic, Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department, or Too Cute Crisis, or lent their voices to characters in Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure, Princess Principal, Management of a Novice Alchemist, and Bodacious Space Pirates.
The studio EMT Squared, which produced the series, is known for four series directed by Hisashi Ishii, and another he did with Yuu Nobota: I'm Quitting Heroing. The show's composer, Shigeo Komori, is known as a writer, lyricist, video game director, and producer. Series writer Takashi Aoshima has worked on series such as Love Lab, Love Tyrant, Karin, and Petite Princess Yucie.
The present series ends with a scene in which Fina and Yuna declare "we're home" and smile. The pages of a book close, showing that this book/series has ended, that this chapter is over. If a third season of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear were produced, it would continue the story of Fina, Yuna, and their friends, reopening the book for all.
The first and second season of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear are currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu.

Variety: ‘With Love, Meghan’ Is a Montecito Ego Trip Not Worth Taking: TV Review
How Meghan Markle's relationship w/Variety & WME began:

How it's going:
In the first episode of Netflix’s new series “With Love, Meghan,” the series’ host is visited by a friend from a past life. Make-up artist Daniel Martin has known Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, “for the before, during and after, shall we say,” she tells the camera. In other words, he’s been around since she was simply the television actress Meghan Markle (a name, she later tells guest Mindy Kaling, she no longer uses), before the media circus that attended her wedding to Prince Harry and their subsequent break from the royal family, up to the present day in her life in glam exile in Montecito. A friend of such long standing deserves to be celebrated, and so, over the course of a whirlwind episode, Meghan prepares “teabags” of bath salts; arranges flowers; harvests honey; makes a pasta dish, crudité, and beeswax candles; frosts a cake; and brews “this elixir that I think will be so healing” for Martin’s allergies.

The grind, for a star for whom this show may represent a last stand at holding on to her place in the public eye, never stops. And yet all of this effort is carried across in an on-camera attitude that resembles Meghan’s on-camera wardrobe: Well-tailored and beige. In that first episode, Meghan — less-than-adept at speaking on her feet — tries out seemingly endless repetitions of the one-and-a-half-entendre “let’s get some honey, honey.” She reaches for a we-get-it metaphor about how the cake she frosts might not be appreciated for its exterior until one discovers the wealth of filling within. And she’s fleetingly haunted by the spirit of “it’s a good thing” domestic doyenne Martha Stewart — a figure who, vastly more than any of Meghan’s royal in-laws, looms over these proceedings — while picking berries, telling the camera “the sweetness of this fruit is a real thing.” When her old friend remarks that the peas Meghan serves are particularly beautiful, “like green pearls” (in other words, you know… peas), one senses that, in him, Meghan has found a kindred spirit.
That’s because “With Love, Meghan” exists as a sort of celebration of all things Duchess of Sussex — and, as with past of her media outings, no amount of praise seems enough. Each episode features a jumbled timeline whereby Meghan hosts a friend of hers, famous or not, then jumps back in time to show how she prepared the food or the tablescape. Then, back in the present, she once again recaps what we just saw, so that the guest may marvel at Meghan’s ingenuity. All play along — many guests are Meghan’s real-life friends. But some lay it on thicker than others. Kaling recalls receiving a jar of preserves from Meghan’s brand American Riviera Orchard, which was entirely retooled before its new launch under the name As Ever. Those preserves, Kaling says, represented “probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life.”
To get to visit Meghan’s serene, unruffled world represents a sort of fantasyland moment for her guests (not least because, as Meghan indicates, the show is not in fact shot in her home but in a house provided for the purpose — raising the question of what this show, billed as a look into Meghan’s homemaking style, is even about). “I feel like this is all fake,” Meghan’s makeup artist friend tells her, as they gaze out on a mountain vista after a jam-packed day of little projects. He said a mouthful: Meghan’s particular sensibility, a clean and unruffled traditional-meets-modern mélange, runs up against the limits of having to fill eight long episodes with only a certain number of new ideas. And so, through repetition, Meghan’s quirks come to seem like affectations, from the multiple times she remarks on the beauty of an egg yolk to her dedication to placing “edible flowers” on just about any comestible.
This show follows in the wake of various other Meghan-branded projects, from the upbeat podcast “Archetypes” to the revealing Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” that have failed to connect: The podcast was perhaps too vague, while the targeted and tactical approach of the doc left viewers wondering whether Meghan had anything specific to say not rooted in her experience of the royal family. “With Love, Meghan” makes that answer seem further away, as its star seems unwilling to step outside the role of perpetual A student. In one episode, she bakes donuts for the chef Roy Choi, telling the camera “I need to impress this man! Not just with my donuts — with my tidiness, with my kitchen savvy, my cleanliness.” It’s unsurprising that, on presenting Choi with the treat, she says in a rushed, breathless tone, “Do you believe my little donuts? I made them for you,” but it is a little surprising that this moment was left in the cut.
Martha Stewart, who modernized the homemaking-show template in which Meghan now operates, lives in a state of serene superstardom; Ina Garten, for my money the best to ever do it, exudes let’s-have-a-drink chill in part because her knowledge is genuinely boundless. Meghan either lacks similar competence or feels constrained from sharing it, and so her insights, or the way she talks about them, can feel as canned as a limited-edition American Riviera Orchard preserve. She muses to the camera that it’s possible one might want to label a jar of homemade chili oil, but it’s not strictly necessary: “Your cue on this one will be, you see the chilis in it.” (Thanks, Meghan.) When informed that the dumplings she may dress in said chili oil are called “ingots” for their resemblance to forged bits of gold, she replies, “I love hearing the meaningful stories behind things!”
That’s precisely the problem. So much of “With Love, Meghan” is devoted to trying to gin up capital-M Meaning that Meghan seems to forget that the only reason anyone would do any of this — whether that’s bake a cookie dappled with edible flowers or watch a lifestyle show — would be because it’s fun. Since her first forays out in public life after the genuinely sympathetic Oprah Winfrey interview of 2021, Meghan and her husband Harry both have seemed confident that interest would naturally follow them. But there isn’t enough here to justify the running time, nor its star’s belief we’ll keep watching.
The show plays out like a forced march, one in which Meghan’s guests must, as the price of getting to share an afternoon in a made-for-TV kitchen with her, praise her first. It’s no less than Alice Waters, the effective inventor of a California-upscale culinary aesthetic in which Meghan now exists, who comes to help Meghan prepare a brunch party to thank her loved ones for their support as she tries to launch an all-around lifestyle brand. But she’s gone by the time the frittata is served. “Thank you for loving me so much and for celebrating with me,” she tells the assembled parties at the season-closing brunch; she also announces that Waters helped her prepare the food, to which an unidentified guest says: “Amazing. Wow.”
Then, in his one appearance on the series, Prince Harry, Meghan’s husband, calls out a toast. “To you!” he shouts. To Meghan, indeed. “With Love, Meghan” is made with a great deal of love — in the sense that the greatest love of all is the one that a person has for herself.
