The Mist

Wonderful colours that hurt

The mist originates from Japan, dating back to 1892. Great warriors would conjure up this mysterious poison from the pit of their stomach and spray at their opponents’ face, causing great damage to the eyes.

If you believe that, then you’re a mark!

The reality is, the mist originated from wrestling manager, Gary Hart’s kitchen in America when his wife accidently knocked a bottle of food colouring as she was baking cookies. This sparked the idea for Hart, “I took a little mouthwash, mixed in some green food coloring, poured it into a condom and tied it off really tight.” Wrestling is truly magic!

At the time, Hart was managing The Great Kabuki for World Class Wrestling Association (WCWA) and the idea was for Kabuki to use the green liquid as an illegal tactic. The mist would first target Fritz Von Eric during a promo segment that led to Von Eric losing sight in his eye.

The visual combined with its devastating effect would become a popular tatic associated with a small number of wrestlers from around the world.

While green in the common colour, the mist has had a few different variations on the colour spectrum and meanings.

The green mist obscures the opponents’ eyes. This was the colour I was introduced to by Tajiri.

Red would burn the eyes. Imagine rubbing a ghost pepper between your eye lids. Recently, Shinsuke Nakamura used this colour on Seth Rollins which sent him off a ladder through an announce table.

Black mists temporality blinds the opponent. Malikai Black and Julia Hart have both been using the black mist as a way to bring out the darker side of people. This is an interesting way to use the mist as a plot device.

The blue mist is meant to send you to sleep, but I’ve never seen blue mist used, neither with yellow and its paralyzing effect.

Roxxi Laveaux use the purple missed to cause memory loss. I can’t find any images or video of this in use.

Other wrestlers have used the deadly mist - most notably - The Great Muta. I won't get into his work today, but check out Askua marking out at the ending of his WWE Hall of Fame speech.

I think we should celebrate the mist once a year by popping a condom into our mouths and spraying the liquid into people’s faces.

She'd done this far too many times. Humans were such fragile creatures. Even mages, powerful though they were, found their end eventually. And it was always a tragic thing for it to happen to one of her humans. Oh yes. Johnny was her human. One of many, but he was, whether either of them wanted to admit it or not. She loved seeing him, spending time with him. Just to know John Constantine had been a gift. And now he was being taken away from her. It seemed that no matter how many curveballs the universe had to toss at her head, there was always more pain to come. She had really started to like this one. Gently, Roxxy cradled the man to her chest, peppering kisses across his face. "Don't think dying will keep me away from you forever. I'll find a way to visit Hell, and when I do, you'll never be rid of me." (for the death meme because I'm a sap.)

'Should just move on.'

A pity, watching the way she held him with a strange fondness that he had no right to. No claim, no need, no nothing. Maybe this was her own curse? In hindsight, maybe this was why playing with vampires was dangerous. Yet another that’d be eternally tacked to his curse.

Oh well, just another that’s made a horrible mistake. At least this time even his ghost was sure it wasn't his fault.

It’s In The Evidence (Part 4)

This was a really fun chapter to write honestly. You’ll see why.

Saturday finally came around and for once since meeting Pennywise I woke up excited. I slipped on one of my favorite summer dresses and a pair of ankle boots that matched. I kept my makeup simple since it was just coffee. After the final touches I heard the doorbell rang. With a big grin on my face I made my way to the living room until something caught my eye. I had a mirror hanging on a closet in the hall and swore I had seen something in it. Something white, orange, and red. I shook my head and the doorbell rang again. I swung the door open and there stood Robert with a bouquet of roses.

“For you.” He lifted the roses up which were already in a vase. I could feel my cheeks blushing as I took them.

“Oh goodness, thank you.” I brought them over to the side table by the couch, setting it down. “Sorry for making you wait. I couldn’t find my other shoe.”

“You’re all good, Roxxie. I wasn’t waiting long.” He pretended to yawn, stretching in an exaggerated way. “Let’s get some coffee. I have a surprise for you afterwards.”

“Oh?” I turned to face him and we headed to his car. It was a simple thing. He held the door open for me and I sat in. “Do I get any hints?”

“Only if you can pick up on them.” He chuckled and he began to drive once settling into the driver seat.

As we drove I had seen Pennywise standing around, laying on benches that were spotting the sidewalks, or just his red balloon. Robert didn’t seem to see Pennywise so I didn’t bring it up. I could feel the fear and paranoia build up each time Pennywise made himself known. That’s when I looked in the back-seat mirror to see him grinning in the middle seat.

“Don’t worry little one. I won’t mess up your little coffee date. At least not you.” Pennywise’s gaze went from me to Robert who still hadn’t noticed anything. “Him though. He looks pretty tasty. Though,” his eyes went back to me, “we’d probably want to taste him in different ways.” His laugh boomed through the air in the car and my face was turning pink.

“Are you alright, Roxxie?” Robert’s voice broke through the laughter and we both looked at him.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking of what the surprise is.” I let out a nervous giggle. “I’m good at crimes but never anything when it involves me.”

“Looks like I need to surprise you some more.” He gave me a suave smirk as the car parked. “Let’s get some coffee.”

We went inside, leaving Pennywise in the back seat. He was waving at me when I looked back to the car when Robert held the door for me. Once we got our coffee we sat by the window, laughing and talking about the week. I made sure to avoid talking about Wednesday night. Maybe when we were alone I’d talk about it. I didn’t want anyone around us overhearing and thinking I was insane. When we finished our coffee, he guided me back to the car with a grin on his face.

“Part two now.” He opened the door for me again. “Any guesses?”

“Honestly, no clue. You’re good at keeping things secret.” I let out a giggle and he got into the driver seat.

“Why thank you. Coming from you that means a lot.” He grinned at me and began to drive.

As he drove I would look around, mostly to the back seat. As we parked close to the Kissing Bridge, I was thankful for not having seen hide nor hair of Pennywise. I wanted to forget about him for the rest of the day if I could. Robert took me down a path between some trees, down a small hill, and finally to the creek side. His hand connected with mine, our fingers intertwining. I blushed as we gently swung our arms as we talked. This had been my first date in so long and I’m sure so many people would think we were rushing but there was something about him that made me not care. As I listened to him talk I just thought of how well we connected, how we fit together so well like puzzle pieces. Looking at him in the sunlight made me realize I really wouldn’t mind being with him.

“Ah, here we are.” He stopped right next to a large tree that was hollow on the inside. Carefully, he reached in and pulled out a basket. “Had to come here this morning. I was so worried it wouldn’t be here by the time we made it out.” We began to set everything out and he poured us a glass of champagne. “I hope you don’t mind drinking so early.” He chuckled as I took the glass.

“After the week at work I don’t mind at all.” I giggled softly and we enjoyed our picnic by the river.

“Roxanne,” we were now facing the river and his arm rested around me, “I know we just met not too long ago but I feel like there’s something special with you.”

“I honestly feel the same way Robert.” I turned my head to look at him to see he was already looking at me. Our lips were just a few inches away and I wanted nothing more to lean in to kiss him.

“Roxanne.” He was slowly leaning in with his eyes closing.

“Robert.” Our lips connected and his hand held onto the back of my neck.

His lips were so soft and plump like I had imagined. As we kissed he carefully laid me down on my back. I could feel my dress riding up but I didn’t care. As far as I was concerned we were alone. After some time, he pulled away and I opened my eyes. My heart felt as if it was about to burst out of my chest.

“Don’t let old Pennywise stop you from having fun.” That damn clown was right about me, looming over me like a cat on a mouse. Drool hung from his bottom lip. His face began to creep closer to mine. At least until I blinked again.

“Are you alright, Roxxie?” Robert tilted his head to the side with a confused look.

“I’m fine.” I gave him a nervous smile. “Just the whole being outdoors while being a little intimate.”

“If you’d like we can go back to your house.” He began to pepper kisses along my neck, sending shivers down my spine and that familiar yearning bubbling up inside.

“Please.” I begged and he gave me a smirk.

“Let’s get going then. I want to kiss those pretty lips.” He winked and soon we packed all the things away, taking it to the car.

Once we arrived at my house he was very handsy. With the door shut he pulled me in close, kissing me as if it was the last time he ever would. Somehow. we gracefully made it over to my bedroom without being able to see much. With the bed behind me he slid the straps of my dress to the side and it made its way down my body. Our kisses briefly broke to lift his shirt off, tossing it to the side. His large hands slid up my back and unhooked my bra, letting it fall off. Once we were both naked he playfully pushed me onto the bed making me giggle. With a smile on his face he positioned himself over me.
