Steve x reader going on a road trip

You and Steve had decided to go on a road trip along some of route 66. They didn't really have a destination just following the road and see where it leads them. Both of them marvelled at the endless highway roads stretching out before them, and the scenery outside the car windows. As they drove (we know its Steve specifically behind the wheel since he loves letting y/n be his passenger princess) they sang to their favourites songs at the top of their lungs, hosting a mini concert with just the two of them in the car, wind rushing into their face from the slightly ajar windows. It had been a couple hours since they first set out, you could feel the ache in your limbs from the constant sitting in the car, somehow Steve noticed as per usual, from the tiny furrow your eyebrows made. He was always observant to small details around him.

"I think there's another diner along here somewhere soon. You want me to stop there? stretch our limbs out? can get you another milkshake if you'd like too." He smiled, stating every possible option for you, always wanting to spoil you at every chance he could get. He was just too sweet. Way too sweet. You already had a milkshake at the previous diner a few hours ago, it wouldn't hurt to have another right?

"Yes to stretch limbs, yes to another milkshake, please." You replied smiling at him, watching the loose strand on his forehead sway from the slight breeze.

He chuckled giving you his gorgeous signature smile as he nodded. A couple minutes after, you's arrived at the small, old looking diner that needed a bit of a new coat of paint. He pulled into the parking lot, both of you's letting out a sigh/exhale of relief at stretching out those tense, cramped muscles. A quick couple seconds and Steve was then dragging you in. He made you sit down into a booth to relax, the seats soft, the diner had a comfortable home like warmth to it. He knew your milkshake order off by heart now with how much you loved them.

He came back fairly quick, With the largest (he could get) vanilla milkshake, large whipped cream all over the top and with a extra cherry on top, was then handed to you carefully. You smiled at it, nearly tearing up at how well he knew you, your cheeks hurt from smiling but you couldn't care, you appreciated him and his gestures so so much, even if they were tiny, they and him meant the world to you.

"Thank you so much Steve" you said, giving him a soft smile.

"Of course, anything for my passenger princess." He replied, soft brown eyes gazing back at you.

The Crown Railroad Cafe, Flagstaff, Arizona. November 2022 Drawn to the roar of traffic on Route 66, cars driving out of the busy car park behind me and huge freight trains, one had five locomotives! It was loud, cold and windy, very stressy but I had to capture this classic diner.
