I'm just so happy to actually see ninja in any media actually use gardening tools as weapons. Ignore me being nerdy here for a moment.

Gardening tools, the best kinds of weapons for ninja.

So, a bit of history here: When ninja were utilized back for military espionage, they would often pose as farmers. It would give them a reason to carry their weapons, which were often modified farming tools.

I know I mentioned it last year when I was watching Ninjago, but they often wore regular civilian clothes. The shozoku that we see ninja wear in movies and TV shows are actually based on the outfits that actors and crew members in kabuki theaters wore. The actors and crew members often moved around pieces of scenery and were the ones who produced the special effects. The shozoku made them invisible to the audience. Which was why, whenever 1 of them ended up being a key player in the play that they were performing, it was a great shock to the audience.
