I can’t believe that I used to hate honey cake. These days I can’t wait for the Jewish holidays to make my Aunt Belle’s recipe (on my website). This Rosh Hashanah I am adding a different version so we can have even more cake! Recipe is in the profile and on my website. #honeycake #honeycakewithcranberry #roshhashanah #roshhashanah2022 #roshhashana #roshhashana2022 #bundtcake #bundtcakesofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CikhwwMrzTA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I made these honey cookies for Rosh Hashanah — thanks to @monafrank2407 for this spectacular recipe! They were a huge hit, particularly with my son-in-law, who said they brought back memories of time spent with his Polish family (many of them Holocaust survivors). I saved some in a baggie so he could bring some to his cousin. These cookies will now always be on the holiday menu. Thank you Mona! #honeycookies #roshhashanah #roshhashana #roshhashanah2022 #roshhashana2022 #jewishholiday #jewishholidays #cookies Here is the recipe: (I added 1/2 teaspoon salt and baked the cookies for 12 minutes). Honey Cookies for Rosh Hashanah • 3 cups unbleached flour • 3/4 cup brown sugar • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves • 2 eggs • 1/2 cup honey • 1/2 cup vegetable oil • Powdered sugar 1. Mix all ingredients, except for the powdered sugar, in a bowl. 2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour. 3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. 5. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on a plate. 6. Retrieve the cookie dough from the refrigerator. Pinch a walnut sized piece of dough, and roll it between your palms to make a ball. 7. Roll the dough ball around in the powdered sugar, and place on the parchment paper. Make sure to space your cookies, as they will expand during baking. 8. When all the cookies have been formed, bake them for about 11 minutes. https://www.instagram.com/p/CjDWrRsro3j/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

In Yiddish, “tzimmes” means “a big fuss” but this dish — Tzimmes Chicken - is easy to make and no fuss at all. It’s basically roasted chicken with dried fruit and seasonings and it’s a festive main course suitable for a holiday meal. Recipe is in the profile and on my website. Did you know that carrots are one of the traditional symbolic foods for Rosh Hashanah? Here they are, cooked and softened and seasoned with ginger, cloves, cinnamon and pepper for a lovely, velvety soup. Just in time for the holidays.
