Usually when Amycus was wandering around the castle at night with tired eyes and sluggish movements, he went wherever his feet carried him. Tonight was different though. He was searching for some place he’d never been before. Rosemary had been with him in his favorite place in the castle, but she hadn’t brought him to hers and his curiosity had finally gotten the best of him. Even if the word chapel wasn’t very appealing to him, it was to her and he needed to know why. When he was a child, he had been to a few cathedrals. The ceilings high, the paintings on them intricate and like nothing he’d ever seen before. After he had reached the age of thirteen, he was sure that if he were to even open the doors to a church that he’d instantaneously burst into flames as if the devil himself were trying to break open heavens’ gates. That’s why when he had finally managed to find the chapel he hesitated, his hand hovering over the handle. There was no way Hogwarts would include such a place at the risk of certain students combusting at the entrance. After letting out a deep breath, Amycus pried the doors open. Carefully, he placed a foot beyond the threshold and was still in once piece. Next, he moved inside completely, his head moving every each way to fully take in the scene in front of him. He understood why Rosemary would like it, it reminded him of his own favorite spot. Serene-- a place of solace. Hers was religious and though Amycus was reluctant to believe in a higher power, his was a piece of his own spirituality, letting him practice his work in private. It took him a minute to allow himself to take a seat in a pew, fearing that the chapel itself would have had enough of his darkness consuming its lightness and kicking him out immediately. Nothing happened though, and he allowed himself to relax the slightest bit more as he leaned back and looked toward the ceiling, studying it while trying to picture what his ‘secret friend’ would be doing if she was sitting in the same spot as him.
