while i definitely consider roscest to be "wholesome" in some ways i think it's important to remember that they came to be so close in part because of the trauma they experienced. this is not limited to how anabella treated them; it also includes their roles as dominants, how they were chosen to be tools, intended to be used by ultima.

this comes to the forefront at phoenix gate, anabella and ultima's machinations tearing clive and joshua apart from each other in the most cruel way imaginable, forcing them to suffer apart from each other for years.

is it any wonder they end up even more codependent than before, when they finally reunite?

i'm drawn to sibling incest when there's some unhealthiness to it, and codependency is one of these traits. combine that with clive's unwavering loyalty as joshua's first shield and you have something truly delicious.

it's for that reason i don't think anyone else can really blame them, for how they ended up. but they're both alive and nothing else matters.
