"ECHO!"

After hearing someone call out my name, I was instantly tackled to the ground, which made me let out a grunt. I turned around in the person's hold and changed our positions. I pressed the person's head hard and I heard laughters around me. I looked up to see several Native Americans standing, laughing and pointing.

I immediately recognized the people and looked down to see the person was in fact Jacob. I shook my head and slapped Jake on his head, "What the hell? I just got here and you tackle me bruh?"

I got up from the floor, handing out a hand for Jake to grab and pulled him up. I brushed off the dirt from my clothes and waved at everyone.

"Hey guys! No time long see," I chuckled.

This brought on cheers from everyone and each of them gave me hugs.

"Welcome back," Sam said.

"Bout time you're back," Paul said, punching me in the shoulder.

"""You're back!""" Quil, Embry, and Jared cheered, giving me pats on the back.

""I missed you,"" Collin and Brady, the two youngest shifters, murmured while hugging me tightly. I looked after the two boys when their moms were busy as if they were my own children.

I smiled softly, hugging them tightly, "I missed you both too, kiddos."

We broke the hugs and the boys stepped away for me to see the last two members, Leah and Seth. They stood there for a moment until I opened my arms for them which got them to jump at me, hugging me.

"I missed you guys, my baby brother and little sister," I hugged them tightly, kissing each their foreheads.

"I missed you too, E," Seth murmured while Leah nodded in agreement.

After few moments, we broke the hug and turned to face the group. I studied each one of them and noticed something.

"Brady...Collin...you're tall?" I was a bit confused.

Everyone suddenly got serious. Sam stepped forward with a serious face, "We have a situation and it's bad."

I frowned and nodded. We all went into the pack house where Sam and Jake explained what was happening.

An hour later, I found myself sitting in the recliner chair in disbelief.

"I've only been gone for two years in the Army and I come back to a potential vampire war between the Cullens and their vampire government?"

"Yup.""Pretty much.""Yes.""Correct."

Everyone chimed in.

"So, there are more vampires each day which caused Brady and Collin to phase despite their young ages?" I frowned.

"Yeah, but it's totally fine. I mean, it's awesome that we get to be huge wolf shifters. Although, the patrolling sucks and the smell of the vampires is horrible, it's cool," Collin explained with a smile while Brady nodded in agreement.

I just chuckled at Collin and Brady's nonchalant attitude about shifting and the whole vampire situation. I stood up from my seat and looked at Sam.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"You take the alpha position back. I was just holding it for you until you come back or Jake takes it but he doesn't want to," Sam said.

I nodded and looked at the pack, "Alright, let's go see the vamps."

Everyone cheered and exited the house and shifted, leaving shredded clothes all over the place. I sighed and shifted, thankfully not tearing the clothes. For some reason, the clothes I wear melds in with me, allowing me to shift freely.

'Let's go!' I spoke into the pack link and we ran off into the woods.

Rosalie

I was in the living room, chatting with Tanya and Kate when we heard the howls. Everyone in the house snapped their attention to outside when we heard the snaps of the branches as the wolves emerges from the forest. We all headed out onto the patio as the wolves sat in line. I growled softly as their horrible stenches wafted through my nose.

Damn mutts.

Edward, have heard my thoughts, sent me a glare which I replied back one.

Get the fuck out of my head.

Edward shook his head and looked back at the wolves while Carlisle stood forward, "Hello, is there something you need?"

"Sam said that the alpha would like to meet us," Edward spoke for the pack.

Carlisle frowned, "I thought Sam is the alpha?"

Edward shook his head, "Sam said that he was holding the position until their alpha comes back and they did, just today."

Carlisle nodded, "Of course, are they willing to speak with us?"

With that, the wolves parted, allowing the alpha to walk. They were huge, towering at 8 feet tall, with the black fur coat and white tribal marks all over its body. The wolf has bright red eyes, which was a huge contrast compared against the other wolves. Soon, we saw her fur slowly recede, revealing deep tanned skin.

This wolf can shift with clothes? I've never seen that.

The wolf turns out to be a girl, a very tall girl standing at 6'5 feet and shoulder length black hair. She is wearing black loose shorts with light beige baggy shirt and no shoes. From what I could see is that she have multiple tattoos all over her body. She walked up to Carlisle and handed out her hand.

"Pleasure to meet you. I am Echo Clearwater, the alpha," she finally spoke, her voice was deep and rich like honey to my ears.

"Hello Echo, it's nice to meet you. I am Carlisle, leader of the Cullen Coven. These are my family, my wife Esme, my sons, Emmett and Edward, Edward's wife, Bella, and their daughter, Renesmee. And lastly, my daughter, Rosalie. I have two more but they are currently out of town," Carlisle introduced us to her as she examined each of us.

As soon her eyes connected with mine, I instantly felt something shifted inside me and I could tell something happened to her as her jaw drops and her pack starts whining.

Mate. Shit. Fuck.

I frowned and broke eye contact with her, turning my attention to Edward whose eyes were wide when he read our minds.

"Uh...nice to meet you. I-I just want to know the plan for when the vamp government comes," She stuttered.

With that, Carlisle and the others talked about the battle plan while Echo nodded, giving some inputs. It took about an hour before we concluded. During that hour, I spent my time stealing looks at Echo and half of the time, she caught me and vice versa. Echo looked back at the pack sending them a signal and they left leaving her alone.

Carlisle and the rest stared at her confused while Echo stared at me. Edward, being the mind invader, took the hint and spoke, "Let's go in and leave the two alone."

The others were confused until Edward made eye motions between me and Echo which caused them to finally understand and smiled widely. They shuffled into the house leaving me alone on the porch and her on the ground.

"Um, w-would you like to go take a walk in the forest?" She asked, rubbing the back of her neck.

I sighed and nodded silently, jumping off the porch and walked past by Echo into the forest. I could hear her shuffling behind me as we trek deeper into the forest, away from the vampire hearing range. I saw a log sitting in the middle and took a sat on it, turning my attention on her.

Echo

Damn, she can be quite scary. But, scary hot.

"So, um, you're a vamp...and my mate."

I groaned silently.

Like who the fuck says that? Why am I so fucking awkward? God, first time I talk to her and I go, you vamp? I just wanna die. Shit. I hope the pack doesn't see this or Imma kill myself.

My inner turmoil was interrupted by a beautiful sound, I looked up and saw that she was laughing. My breath was taken away. Her blonde hair shone brightly, her face filled with adorable crinkles, and her golden amber eyes glitter with amusement.

Even though she's laughing at me, she's absolutely gorgeous.

After my fumble, we actually manage to get a conversation going. It was late when we realized that we spent 8 hours chatting about everything. I can absolutely tell you that I was smitten by this girl. I stood up from my spot and brushed off the dirt from my pants from sitting too long. Then, I reached out my hand for her to take which she did.

I decided to walk Rosalie back home and during mid walk, we had our arms down and occasionally, our hands would brush against each other. After couple times, I finally took the initiative to capture her hand in mine and squeeze it softly while staring ahead.

I could feel her gaze at my head and out of the corner of my eye, I can see her look forward with a small smile on her face and she squeezed my hand. We finally ended up at the house and I stopped at the edge of the forest.

"So, I'll see you later?" I asked hopefully, rocking on my heels.

She chuckled softly and nodded, "Yes," stepping into my space. I looked down to see her face while she looked up. It took a second before she stood on her tippy toes and land a soft kiss on my cheek.

Then she backed away and headed for the door, leaving me there stunned while holding my cheek in awe. Before she opened the door, she turned around and gave me a finger wave and entered her home. I smiled widely and in my excitement, I accidentally shifted. I turned around and headed home.

“Finally” rolling my writs, the built-up tension began to unwind as I scrunched my nose up.

The hard sound of the boxes setting down to the floor, it didn't matter that I tried to settle the dolly down slowly. The load was just too heavy as I eyed the tower of boxes cautiously.

Watching them sway slightly, ‘don’t fall, please don’t fall.’ I quietly pleaded the universe to not be cruel.

“God this thing is heavy.” I breathed out a stale sigh as the stack came to a still. But a new problem had struck. ‘How the hell am I even going to unstack them?' Just the exhausting thought had me dreading the activity.

Having bore witness to Caleb as he struggled to stack the boxes on his own, it was a clear insight to how heavy these packages truly were.

In hindsight, I should have just scampered off when I had the chance. Cause now I’m stuck with the responsibility of putting all of this into storage.

I felt rather useless. Standing there in the crapped room full of box and toys; awkwardly trying to come up with a plausible idea as to how I was going to do this.

'Might as well try to brute force it.' Reluctantly, I got closer—my hands took the two bars to the dolly as I started to tug on it. 'Come on' I grunted. Yanking on the thing harder, it took me a moment to notice that they had started to wobbled—back and forth.

"Crap!" I hissed. Scrambling—I ceased my futile attempts as I scurried to save the towering tower of goods.

Not from the goodness of my heart. But because I don't need my paycheck going towards any damages to the papery continent’s contained inside.

Lingering their for a moment, my body was stiff as my hands pressed against the smooth surface.

Breathing out a short breath of relief, the tower stayed as my brows furrowed in annoyance. "Bloody thing, trying to get me in trouble." I muttered spitefully.

"So, you wanna be difficult—huh?" Jabbing the cardboard, I stalked around the stacked dolly—squeezing past the open ladder.

'Well. Too bad, you're coming off this thing, and I'm going to put your contents where it belongs.' With a mild sneer, I placed my foot against the lowest box. Pushing it, it didn’t move.

Shifting my footing, I tried once again. Shoving the cardboard from the plate they sat on. I wasn't even confident that it'd even move. But hearing the mild scraping was the fuel that kept my hopes high.

'Aha!' I exclaimed, grinning in glee. 'You are no match for me!—'

"Crap!"

My eyes blown wide in shock as I stumbled backwards. The dolly that came shooting out swayed; stumbling, I desperately scrambled to catch my footing. But it was like standing on marbles as my back collided with one of the many shelves.

"Ah! that bloody hurt!" I sharply hissed threw my teeth. Withering, I took a quick step away from the hard wooden shelf. Groaning, I wriggled my shoulders to try and rid myself of the dull ache. I directed my glare towards the boxes—those damn troublesome boxes.

"Fucking hell!” I shouted as my head shot down—clambering to once again to catch my footing. Something hard clattered to the floor.

My hands immediately flew up to hover over my throbbing head. "Are you—" I started, angrily perplexed as my mouth flayed. A slight ringing started to play within my ears as my befuddled gaze snapped down to the object that had assaulted me.

"Wha—what the-" I stammered. Fluttering away the tears that lined my eyes. I didn't know where I wanted my arms to be as they moved about.

"Are you kidding me?!" I snapped, nostrils flaring at the thick and heavy-looking box that laid on the floor.

It was black, with a printed image of pale arms holding a bright red apple. The bold, white lettering spelt: TWILIGHT THE COMPLETE SERIES.

Lifting my head, I peered up to the highest shelf that was overflowing with boxsets. My voice was caught in the foot of my mouth as I gapped.

'Seriously!?' I shouted in my head, the fact that someone had the ingenious idea to stack all the box-sets up high was a special kind of stupid.

My fingers came to graze the forming knot on my head. It was like touching fire as I breathed a sharp breath in.

"Fuck, that stings." Wincing I reluctantly brought my hand down as I looked towards the ladder.

'Hm, he must've left it to make room for the new shipment.' I mused, it was already set up and left open by most likely Caleb. It was left beside a shelf that had an unusual empty space. Cleared from any books and toys.

Taking the ladder, I shifted it across the floor. Moving it closer towards the tower of unopen boxes. My gaze flicked about the cramp storage room.

'Now to find those blasted cutters.' I groaned. The razor was never where you'd expect it to be.

Going about the small space, it honestly took me longer than I'd like to admit into finding the box cutters. The yellow safety cover did nothing to help in finding the thing.

My head continued to hurt, blooming into a headache as the bump sent burning waves of heated pain. The ringing in my ears continued to sound as I shuffled towards the ladder. Pulling myself up the narrow steps; only to pause as I fluttered my eyes.

My lips pulled into a frown of confusion as I slightly shook my head.

"Dude... am-am I seeing double?" I mumbled thanks to the safety cutters that were clamped between my teeth. Questioning such a thing as I honestly couldn't tell; placing my palm to my forehead. It did little to help as closed my eyes.

'Maybe... I should probably stop.' Contemplating the option, I sighed. 'After this, I'll let Caleb know I may need to go home.' I stated, more to myself as I continued to climb the limited steps.

It wasn't long until my head was level with the flat top of the carboard box. Slipping out the razor, I ran the sharp blade across the tape. Parting it down the middle, I returned the cutter back between my lips.

I paused—my vision only becoming worse as things were melting and moulding together, splitting in two and overlapping each other.

Gulping, a shiver ran down my spine as I tried levelling my breathing. It felt like I was on a boat, swaying back and forth and side to side—spinning out of control. It was dizzying and nauseating.

"Come on, you can do this." I slowly spoke to myself. Encouraging and making it a fact as I pulled open the flaps.

My shaky gaze spotted the tightly packed collection of books that were contained within. My eyes rolled to the floor; the back of my eyeballs pulsed.

'Now the hard part,' my fingers curled around the edge of the ladder. I started to lean off to the side, running the blade down the corners of the box. Scoring it as I paused halfway; stuffing the safety blade into my mouth.

I yanked the cut edge down as the sudden movement had the ladder tipping.

Gasping I threw myself into the metal—clinging to it, desperate to force it to leave out. But I couldn't as I came crashing down to the floor.

you mentioned the saga has too many side characters for a love story. In your opinion - who could be removed, without having their disappearance effecting the overall story? Personally i feel like Esme and Emmett could be taken out and there wouldn't be so much that'd change. But i never really thought about others. I guess the movies did well with removing Lauren and Ben.

My dilemma is that I LOVE all the side characters. By and large I find them more interesting than the mains. BUT because Twilight is, after all, a romance . . . there's just not a lot of 'room' for the side characters. Which is probably why I find them interesting! Because we get just enough information about them that I want to know more, but also leaves plenty of room for headcanons and personal interpretations.

But since romances are always about the central couple, there's just really no need for so MANY characters in this series. The movies were smart to combine some of the human high school characters to get the numbers down there, but since most of the other characters don't have any arcs or storylines of their own, they could have been cut or combined too. Does the wolfpack 'need' Paul AND Jared? Do Brady and Collin do anything? Do we really 'need' three Volturi leaders and all those guards? Do we 'need' all those visiting vampires in covens of 3-4, or could we have had more solo vamps or just pairs?

And yes, with the Cullens, it's absolutely Esme and Emmett. And I love them! They're some of my favorites! But in terms of the plot you just don't need them. You need Carlisle as the creator of Edward and for all the times the plot calls for a doctor. You need Alice as the facilitator of the romance and the quirky friend you often see in romances. Plus, her power plays a large role in the plot. Jasper has the New Moon attack and the history with newborns which becomes relevant in Eclipse. And Rosalie becomes important in Breaking Dawn, and she had a fun slightly antagonistic vibe. But you could cut out Emmett and Esme and the plot would not meaningfully change. In fact, in some way, it might improve.

For example I never really got why Edward was so hopeless about ever finding love when he has examples in his own family/coven of it taking a long, long time to find a partner. It took Jasper almost 100 years. It took Carlisle about 250. Rosalie and Emmett were outliers! Edward being all "forever alone" after 90 years as a vampire always felt a little off, like, there's still time. He's roughly at the age Jasper was when he met Alice. But if Carlisle and Rosalie were also still single, that makes Edward's hopelessness make a bit more sense. Like "if Carlisle the Amazing has not found a partner in 350 years what hope do I have?" or whatever.

Or you could try to combine characters. A Jasper/Emmett hybrid miiiiiight work. Emmett's backstory never matters, but you would have to sacrifice some elements of each of their personalities. I don't think making Rosalie Carlisle's wife/Edward's mother would work at all though. Feels wrong just to put it into words. Would combining Alice and Esme, making her Carlisle's wife/Edward's mother, and then having Rosalie with the Jasper/Emmett hybrid be better? Ugh, no, still doesn't work.

I think they all gotta be single, with Alice/Jasper the only couple. And then, yeah, the Edward/Bella thing would feel more miraculous. It was always funny to me it was like "oh no! the love between a human and vampire is forbidden and/or never works out well!" when literally in Edward's own family there were two couples who met when one was still human. I mean admittedly Emmett was minutes from death but still, technically, Rosalie and Carlisle both ended up with humans they 'saved.' Then there's Benjamin going back for Tia; Aro choosing human Sulpicia, like, it's not that usual. But you erase the R/Em and C/Es couples and then, sure, Ed/B seems more rare and impossible.

Ultimately, though, rather than cut characters I'd rather expand to the story to be more of an ensemble fantasy adventure WITH a romance rather than a romance that dips in and out of fantasy adventure. You can have a central character, and even a central romance, and still develop side characters and let them have their own arcs. Jasper could have actually had an arc about overcoming his thirst instead of just sulking about how Bella is so good at it. Carlisle could have had something about actually convincing some vampires to become vegetarian. Alice discovering her human origins could have had more of a meaningful effect on her characterization rather than just being something she infodumps on Bella as a fun bit of trivia. Esme and Emmett could have had plot-relevant reasons to exist rather than Rosalie and Carlisle just needing partners. And Ed/B's romance could still have been the centerpiece.

it was the middle of december in la push which meant snowy, icy conditions pretty much 24/7. you weren’t the most agile person so you weren’t exactly a fan of going out in the weather but, lucky for you, you had not one but two supernatural boyfriends who were almost always with you to catch you if (and when) you fell. 

you were helping a newly pregnant emily with her weekly grocery shopping, both of you very disturbed by the near-blizzard conditions that had just started as you pulled up in front of her house. “okay i think we each take a few bags? maybe we can just do it all in one trip.” you explained, laughing softly as you looked over at your friend, her giggling in agreement with you.

“this is gonna suck,” she explained, laughing as you nodded before adding, “okay let’s do it.” 

you both opened your respective door, immediately laughing as you both felt the freezing air and snow sticking to your skin as you pulled open the back passenger door to grab two bags of groceries each. the two of you quickly shuffled inside, nearly wiping yourselves out in the process but managed to successfully get the groceries into the kitchen without too much of a fuss. 

as you started helping emily unpack she let out a loud groan, “i think we left our phones in the car-” she whined, rolling her eyes as she headed back over to the door to grab her coat. 

“i can go grab them,” you giggled, “it’s too slippery out there.” you reasoned, pulling one of paul’s sweatshirts over your head as you prepared to head back outside.

“maybe we both go then. at least then if one of us slips we can get help,” emily tried to reason jokingly, both of you laughing at the thought.

“sam is definitely gonna kill me if you slip.” you rolled your eyes, as the two of you headed back out into the storm and over to her car. 

you could barely see anything, emily being the first one to get to the car and grab both of your phones, “i got them!” she called, both of you laughing as you started heading back into the house.

emily was shuffling towards the porch when the sound of the boys’ voices came out the door, startling both of you because you both thought they’d be out for the rest of the day.

emily gasped, losing her footing on a patch of ice and fell onto the ground. “emily!” you shouted, losing your sense of judgment, and ran over to her, slipping on the exact same patch of ice she had fallen on just moments prior and landed just behind her. 

you let out a loud groan, rolling onto your side as you tried to figure out what you landed on, pain radiating from your wrist and back. “emily!” sam’s booming voice came out the front door, causing you to look up blearily and see him, along with pretty much the rest of the pack, come running down the porch steps to the two of you. 

seth was the first to reach you, with paul not too far behind him, “hey, hey,” seth knelt down next to you, pulling you into his arms to cradle you as you let out another loud groan.

“i’m fine-” you groaned, “make sure emily is okay. i swear i’m fine-” you tried to reason with your boyfriends, trying to push down the whimper you were about to let out from the pain in your wrist.

“sam and jared are with her, she’s fine i promise.” seth cooed, “what hurts?” he asked softly, paul kneeling down as well to brush the hair out of your face as both of them scanned your figure in an attempt to figure out where you got hurt.

“i’m fine i swear,” you tried to explain, “can we just go back into the house? i’m freezing.” 

both men nodded, “you got her?” paul asked seth, who nodded, both of them getting up and seth carried you back into the house. 

they walked you into the kitchen and, on your way in you could faintly make out emily shushing jared and sam for fussing over her. 

seth sat you down on the counter and you let out a wince, at the action, “okay i’m serious - what hurts?” paul asked as he stepped in, stepping in between your legs as seth went to go get the first aid kit from the bathroom. 

“it’s nothing-” you started and paul shook his head, one hand gripping your thigh, “paul i promise i’m fi- ow paul!” you yelled as he grabbed your hand to inspect it.

he immediately dropped your hand at your cry, looking back up to you, “you landed on your wrist?” he asked as nodded, cradling the injured wrist, your eyes welling up with tears as the adrenaline started to wear off. 

“okay that’s what i needed to know.” paul cooed, cupping your face with his hand, “deep breaths, okay? you’re gonna be fine.” paul reassured, pressing a kiss to your forehead. 

you whimpered, leaning into his touch, “can i look at it? i promise i’ll be gentle.” he asked softly and you shook your head, leaning away from him.

paul let out a soft sigh, “please?” he asked again, “kitten i can’t help you if you won’t let me look at it.” he explained exasperatedly, trying his best to be patient with your hesitance.

“i’m fine you don’t need to look at it-” you tried to explain, holding the injured wrist close to your chest in a weak show of force. 

paul sighed, “yea, i do need to look at it. now can i please see it?” he asked again as seth reentered the kitchen with the first aid kit.

you shook your head, looking from paul to seth worriedly, not particularly interested in having either one of them touch your injured wrist. seth shot you a confused look before looking over to paul, “did you figure out what’s wrong?” he asked the older male who shook his head.

“it’s her wrist. she’s not letting me look at it though.” paul explained, throwing up his hands in defeat, clearly frustrated with you not allowing him to help.

“okay,” seth started, taking a deep breath before stepping over to you, subtly kicking paul out of the way as he replaced him in between your legs, “why aren’t you letting paul look at your wrist?” seth asked softly, sliding his hands over your thighs as he patiently waited for your response.

“he hurt it-” you started to explain and paul, who was now leaning up against the counter opposite of you, let out a groan, rolling his eyes.

“i did not hurt-” he started but seth looked over his shoulder to shush him before turning his attention back to you.

seth gave you a soft smile before continuing, “when he grabbed your wrist it hurt?” he asked softly and you nodded, still cradling the injured wrist to your chest as your gaze flickered between the two men anxiously.

“it sounds like you probably sprained it. do you think you can let me and paul look at it just to make sure it’s not broken? i promise we’ll stop if it hurts, okay?” seth asked softly, patiently waiting as you thought about it for a moment.

“promise?” you asked softly after a moment, looking up at seth with teary eyes.

seth smiled, cupping your face with his free hand and gently brushed one of the stray tears off your cheek, “promise.” he cooed, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead.

you whimpered, releasing your wrist to you could allow seth to gently grab it, “fucking finally-” paul groaned, pushing himself off the counter as he came to stand next to seth so the two could inspect it.

“paul-” seth shot him a look, and paul rolled his eyes, the two of them quickly going back to the task at hand. “okay pretty girl can you try making a fist for me?” seth asked softly and you nodded, making a fist with little difficulty.

“good job,” seth cooed, “now you said it hurt when paul grabbed your wrist, right?” he asked and you nodded, looking up at him wearily.

“how did you grab her wrist?” seth asked, looking to the older male who sighed.

“her wrist bent when i grabbed it and that’s when she said it hurt.” paul explained to seth who nodded, turning his attention back to you.

seth offered you a small smile as paul gently brushed some stray tears off your cheeks, softening a bit when he noticed how much pain you were still in, “can i try moving your wrist? i just wanna see where it’s hurting, okay?” seth asked you softly and you shook your head, immediately pulling your wrist back to your chest with a loud whimper.

“i’ll take that as a no.” seth chuckled, gently rubbing his free hand up and down your thigh soothingly, “okay why don’t we get it in a brace for now and ice it? then you don’t have to worry about it hurting when you move it, okay?” he asked softly, patiently waiting for your response as you looked over to paul who frowned at you.

you mirrored his frown, a pout adorning your lips, “are you mad at me?” you murmured and he quickly shook his head.

“no,” paul sighed, “i’m not mad at you kitten. just want you to feel better so can you let seth wrap it up for you?” he asked, clearly trying to be gentle with you despite his impatience with the whole situation.

you whimpered, nodding, and slowly presented your wrist to seth who gently worked at getting it in the brace. paul offered you a small smile, cupping your face with his free hand and gently rubbed circles on your cheek with his thumb, “not so bad, right?” he asked after a moment and you shook your head, leaning into his touch.

“there you go pretty girl,” seth cooed as he finished getting the brace on your injured wrist, “feel okay?” he asked, smiling when you nodded and wrapped your arms around his neck for a hug.

seth smiled, reciprocating the action, and hugged you close to his chest, pressing his lips to your hair for a moment before releasing you.

“do you want to go lay down on the pull-out in the living room? we can put on a movie for you and emily.” seth suggested thoughtfully and you nodded, now exhausted from the whole ordeal.

seth smiled, “okay i’ll go get this first aid kit put away and paul can go get you laid down.” he explained softly, pressing a kiss to your forehead before grabbing the first aid kit and heading back into the bathroom to put it away.

paul smiled softly at you, stepping back in between your legs, “you feeling better now?” he asked, tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear as you nodded, quickly wrapping your arms around his neck and legs around his waist to pull him closer to you.

“‘m sorry.” you mumbled into his shirt, squeezing him close to you as best you could. 

paul held you close to him, pressing his lips to your hair, “i’m sorry too princess.” he whispered, something quite out of character for the notoriously proud man. 

he lifted you up from the counter, easily carrying you into the living room where emily was sound asleep on the couch with sam and jared also sleeping by her. 

paul gently laid you down on the pull-out bed, crawling in with you and pulling a blanket over your shivering figure before pulling you into his chest to cuddle you. using his free hand he grabbed the TV remote and got netflix on before putting on a random suggested movie, knowing you’d fall asleep shortly after it started anyway.

seth appeared a few moments later, smiling when he saw you two, and climbed into the pullout bed on the other side of you. you grabbed his hand, wrapping it around you as he spooned you before slowly drifting off to sleep in between your two boyfriends.

the wolf pack members and their ages

With the story starting two years later everyone is two years older anyway. But the pack members specifically would be too young still, at least to me.

I always thought Sam was supposed to be at least three years older than Bella, when it’s really only one year of age difference between them. So, I just decided to age everyone up, because – let’s face it – Collin and Brady being only 12 and Seth just 14 is really insane.

Since that decision lead to most of them being done in school I also thought what they study or what they work as –

Sam – born in 1981, 5 years older

shifts into a wolf shortly before his 25th birthday. He has a degree in biology and archaeology and is a Federal Park Ranger of the Olympic National Park, which makes him a colleague of Charlie and Emmett.

Braden - born in 1981, 12 years older

shifts for the first time a few days after Sam. He has a bachelor's degree in informatics and became a character rigger, working from home. In the beginning of the story he and Sam live in a shared apartment in Olympic Bay.

Emily – born in 1984, around 3 to 6 years older

is a teacher of traditional arts at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay and also bakes various desserts for her parent’s café. She will still be Sam’s imprintee, but she won’t act like a caretaker towards the pack.

Jared – born in 1986, 4 years older

is studying accounting at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay, simply because he is good at maths. But he has no clue, what he wants to work as later. He is Braden's younger brother.

Paul – born in 1986, 4 years older

is studying biology and geography at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay and wants to become a Park Ranger as well.

Kim – born in 1986, 4 years older

is studying linguistics, literature and various languages (she has an easy time learning new languages) at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay. She aims to become a book translator. She also works at Olympic Bay’s library and will be Ella’s colleague.

Embry – born in 1988, 2 years older

at the beginning of the story, he is in senior year of high school. But he will start an apprenticeship to become a mechanic. He helped Jacob with repairing Billy’s truck, before fixing up an old enduro motorcycle while Jacob worked on his own car.

Jacob – born in 1988, 2 years older

is also finishing senior year and will start an apprenticeship to become a mechanic, just like Embry. Both of them will work and learn in the shop where Rosalie works too.

Quil – born in 1988, 2 years older

is in senior year of high school at the beginning of the story. But he will go to culinary school in Olympic Bay to become a cook when he shifts for the first time.

Leah – born in 1983, 3 years older

is finishing a degree for pharmaceutical and medical sciences, to eventually become a pharmacist, at the University of Washington. She will keep studying during the story and be in Seattle most of the time.

Seth – born in 1989, 3 years older

is in high school junior year at the beginning of the story and will be in senior year when he shifts for the first time.

Collin - born in 1990, 3 years older

is in high school sophmore year at the beginning of the story, will just have finished his junior year and be the youngest member of the pack when he shifts for the first time.

Rachel - born in 1983, 3 years older

she will neither be a shifter, nor Paul's imprintee. But she will still be an important member of the pack, as their sage*.
