Fun fact from behind the scenes: Vernon is standing on a rock. Now, I know, I know, Vernon Roche is our small chihuahua, and we can all make our little "Awww" (in fact, the height difference between us -meaning us as the cosplayers - is only about 5 cm, so my Vernon is not so small, to your disappointment), but the tree branch was actually pretty high, and it was so hard to make this photo. Vernon had to find himself a not-so-stable rock, and I was hanging from the tree for my dear life. Just a few seconds more, and we would both fall. But the photo was worth it.

Okay, I wanted to redo the makeup test I did here. I wasn't that satisfied with the contours and with the scar, so I was like: Let's do it again. And I fucked up with the scar. Just see yourself. But the contours! I'm really proud of them!

At this point, I just gave up. In the meantime, I tried to do my BF's makeup as Vernon Roche because he is sewing his chaperone in the background for the whole time.

By the way, this is him (without makeup), all proud of himself that he did his little weird towel.

Then I said that this is too cute for Vernon.

This is him after I told him to solve 847 ÷ 12. It worked. I'm satisfied. Every time we will do a photoshoot now he just has to divide.

So I did his makeup and came back to the scar and stuff. I used just a little bit of the clay that stayed on my face and let it be. I had no time left because of the light.

By the way, this is how it looked when I worked with latex. I think I'll just do it like this till I figure out how to work with the clay.

Unfortunately, it took me so long that we were not able to make any proper photos. The light was already too low at this point. But at least we had some fun and tried the makeup. Enjoy the high-quality bathroom selfies in our dirty mirror.

Now you may ask: What is this mess? What it's doing here? Well, this was meant to be a cool post where we show you our summer versions of Rorveth (we are working on full costumes, but it takes so much time especially when we try to use as many historically accurate methods as we can - I can post some of the progress here if anyone is interested ), but since it took more time than intended and we are running out of time even with our summer costumes, I guess we have to wait till the convention (which is next weekend) to show you properly.

So I guess this is just a little teaser to show the Rorveth fandom here that we are actually working on something and it's going to be worth it!

With a photographer we agreed on doing some photos outside the convention area and I specially requested some "photos with feels and story behind them", so I really hope you'll like it! I count on this fandom! I've already asked you about Roche's tattoos and about other stuff and I love how the fandom lives here. (So, if you have any ideas or special requests on Rorveth summer/casual/no fight photos, I'm listening!!!)

So these are the first photos from our recent photoshoot! As already mentioned, we wanted to try "summer" versions* (sorry again to all of you who thought you'll see more skin, this is still the 15th century, no skin allowed, JUST THICK WOOL!) and we did some cute, chill and silly photos. Just to let you know: WE HAVE SO MANY OF THEM!

Fun fact from behind the scenes: This piece of rock is in the middle of the river, but our photographer loved the place so much that we decided to get there anyway. While Vernon was intelligent enough to take the longer way and jump there from the nearer shore, I (Iorveth) yeeted myself into the river and tried to get to the rock by stepping on smaller rocks in the river. Yeah, I almost slammed myself into the water on our FIRST PHOTO, but luckily, I got there almost dry.

We actually had our first Rorveth photoshoot yesterday and while waiting for the photos, let's dump some randoms here.

We went for a two hours long hike to find some cool places to shoot. I deserved a good spink on our way back.

Fun fact from behind the scenes: Do you see the little cute smile on Vernon's face? Wondering what nice things is he reading? The book is called A Prisoner at Křivoklát and right on this page there were described medieval torture methods... He later claimed that it was just because the character in this is named Henry (my name) and it was funny to him, but I think we all know, right?

Fun fact 2: Having just one eye is so hard and disorienting. Like, I was so lost and couldn't function in anything in a closed space or with many people. Niory didn't have a clue that I was actually blind because of the scar and was wondering why I just didn't take the scarf down. It was a shock for her to see this.

Fun facts (and photos) from behind the scenes:

This was completely improvised (even more than the rest of it) because Vernon actually couldn't open the flask. You can tell because it broke me for several minutes.

But to explain and also bring some useful information here for once (maybe for some fanfic writers interested in those little things): The leather flasks have wax inside to make them hold the liquid. You could also have a glass bottle sewn in, but the glass makes it heavy and also fragile so not very life-of-a-soldier/squirrel-friendly. You wanted to have it as light as possible. That's why the wax was used. Also, you could repair it many times if it starts leaking. The problem is that when you keep it in direct sunlight for some time, the wax starts melting and it can basically glue the plug inside the bottle. That's why it's hard to open. If you're used to it, you pretty much know how to do it, and I'm using these flasks more often than Vernon so it just looked so ridiculous when he tried to open it for so long and then I went like: *pop* "Here you go." Also, yeah, the water tastes like leather and wax, thank you for asking.

By the way: Even if these photos probably suggest that there is alcohol in it, you shouldn't keep alcoholic drinks in the leather-wax flasks. It's destroying it and the flask starts leaking. Alcohol was usually kept in different bottles (glass and ceramics).

I'm actually not sure how this photo turned out like this. It's me pulling Vernon to the shore and somehow it looks like we are having the time of our lives at some crazy Irish party, dancing till our feet burn. I can almost see it as a gif of us dancing with a party in the background.

And fun fact: We were sitting in an anthill for the whole time. Very Iorveth accurate.

Fun fact from behind the scenes: Do you remember the fun fact about us probably looking like we were doing porn video there? This is where it got even weirder. Of course we couldn't resist and we were saying things like: "We need to switch poses, something is poking me in the back," or Niory's: "Could you lie just a little more up so I can get a clear shot". With all the giggling and rustling grass and talking about poses and stuff... Yeah, I think those people on a picnic have a great story to tell now about some weird gay couple having sex in costumes.

By the way, I'm running out of photos so I was thinking about sharing some progress plus interesting facts I know about 15th century and The Witcher life. I'm not an expert, but I hang out with Living History nazis all the time so I know few stuff. And you guys seemed pretty interested in the leather flask thing, so... Let me know!

Fun fact from behind the scenes: This photo is once again not staged. I went up one hill to see if it's worth shooting there and didn't find anything interesting. Our photographer also went looking for some good spots. When I was returning, Vernon caught me on my way back so I wouldn't fall in the costume, and we kissed. Then we heard *click* somewhere above us, and that's how this photo happened. Niory would be a great paparazzi.

Fun fact from behind the scenes: Shooting this looked probably like we were doing something highly inappropriate there. Some people were having a picnic just a few steps from our shooting location and they saw us doing the kissing photos. Then we disappeared into a bush, and they saw just our photographer taking a shit ton of pictures and heard us making fun of our poses and saying things like: "Is it alright if I pull up your shirt for this photo?" "Okay, just let me loose the belt a bit." And the next conversation was even weirder, but wait for the final photos for it. (Phew, we are slowly getting to the end of this set.)

If you listen carefully, you can still hear Niory (our photographer) laughing in the background because of our "conversations".

So... yeah, these two had a cute little picnic in the middle of the woods and chit-chatted friendly. They deserve it.

And by the way, I love the close-up detailed shots. These cosplays deserve it. We are trying to do it like in the most real-like way so everything is functional and layered in a way that if you were undressing us, you wouldn't find anything not fitting (apart from my socks, I don't go anywhere without my silly socks). That's partly why we started with these summer versions, because we are in fact doing these costumes layer after layer from the bottom to the top.

And by the way, guys, I still kinda don't know how Tumblr works and I don't know how to express my gratitude for your awesome feedback, but we love you! 🥺 We are reading it in the evenings with Vernon and it's so nice and inspirational. Thank you. 💚

Fun facts from behind the scenes:

Fact one: I'm actually holding a knife in my hand on the second and the third picture, but you can't really see it. In fact, I had FIVE knives on me!

Fact two: Vernon needed to cross the water again for this series and he went like 300 meters in nettles and bushes to find a place where he can cross it. Then we realized we need to make it believable that he can cross the stream here (and he also didn't want to go back), so we made an improvised bridge. Photos from actually crossing the bridge are meme material. Wait for it. PS: He got burned. But he done it for the photos! For you! Meanwhile I was just chillng.

Fun facts from behind the scenes:

The scar takes like half an hour to make and I completely forgot I had it for half of the photoshoot. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to orient myself in space with just one eye. I fell few times, I almost ran into few trees and my only hope was Vernon keeping me from hurting myself.

Also, when I took the bandana off for this photo Niory said something like: "Oh, that's why you're so clumsy today! I thought you were just so stupid that you didn't take off the scarf." Thanks, I guess.
