#rooty x shiny

I have a hc that rooty and shiny met as they were growing into teenhood, grew apart and reconnected in adulthood, neither of them truly knew it was “them”. though it was always something about shiny’s eyes. Or just hearing rooty’s laugh, something about eachother, it's so familiar, it's like I've heard you before and yet your so different from then. they haven't exactly connected the dots but they both just kinda wonder about it sometimes. They met in a time at a place they both called “home” but the word home has changed for them both. they've grown so much but yet they're colours reflect eachother, almost as if to say your apart of me in ways I can never explain.

A 2D animator, from the early 00s to present, using simple character design with dark and absurd humor.

Klasky Csupo - Rugrats, As Told by Ginger, Ahh! Real Monsters

Basically the defining style of 90s Nickelodeon.

Ralph Bakshi - Lord of the Rings, Wizards, Cool World

Filmmaker through the 70s to 90s. Combined rotoscoping, xerox film, and traditional 2D animation. Also known for making the first X-rated animated film.

Terry Gilliam - Monty Python

Interstitial bits throughout Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969-1974) and their various films. Collage animation where the bit reigns supreme.

Robot Chicken

Stop-motion animated show, 2005-2021.

Angela Anaconda

Collage animated show from 1999-2002, most defined by the polaroid-type pictures used for character faces.

UPA - Gerald McBoingBoing, Mr. Magoo, Rooty Toot Toot

Founded 1941 in explicit defiance of Disney's defined animation style. Limited linework and backgrounds in favor of use of color and shape, explicitly highlighting the 2D medium.

Lotte Reiniger - The Adventures of Prince Achmed

German pioneer of shadowbox and silhouette animation in the 1920s and 30s.

Schoolhouse Rock

70s-80s edutainment series. There was a 90s reboot but we're not talking about that.

ReBoot

The first CGI made-for-TV show, from 1994 to 2001. Shiny and smooth as you please.

Filmation

Low-budget 80s cartoons with limited animation, to promote toy sales. Everyone is buff, always.

Xerography Disney

From 1961 (101 Dalmatians) to 1977 (Winnie the Pooh), Disney saved money on lineart by xeroxing animators' sketches directly onto cel. honestly i feel bad including this one it's winning by too much

Something really fun I find about becoming obsessed with a ship is that you slowly start to see said ship, well, everywhere! Whether it'd be in a media that's almost the polar opposite of the world said characters are from or you just seem to find they're dynamic in completely different characters, in the end the things you love will always find it's way back to you in small ways, I think that's pretty swell.
