ROOM + WILD IS...
Room + Sky
just as the Sky meets with the Earth by way of the horizon, the architecture of The Lindis in New Zealand meets with the Earth by being perceived as the Earth itself. by being built and expressed within Earth’s natural expression - in the valley of the mountains, as part of the valley, the hilly terrain, and the lake of water that the valley’s river runs to / from. this grounded perspective of living in a home is very different from what may be the norm. typically, homes are built above ground, in height and hubris, not of the ground, giving the opportunity to more primitively admire and be in awe of that which is nature - like being planted far below snowy mountains. it’s like looking up at the vast everythingness that is the Sky / outer space, all of the infinite amount of stars, and the couple of other planets that are visible from Earth in plain sight. you feel small, and all of your problems seem more or less insignificant to say the very least. because there’s so much more than you, and not just you, but there’s so much more than your planet and the countless number of living organisms that live upon it. think Sky high.
ROOM FOR RISING.
Room + Water
created of the mountain, in the mountain. by the sea, of the sea. Cap Rocat in Malorca is the oasis and lovechild of Taurean and Cancerian energy. Earth and Water intertwine themselves within the walls. pools, windows, alleyways, stairs and caves made for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. the relationship between Earth / sediment and Water is one of nourishing balance. one flows freely and powerfully, teaming with the gift of hydrating elements while the other stands firmly, open to receiving energy on a deeply molecular level, in order to provide sustenance of life. there’s understanding, harmony, and trust that’s able to be fostered between the two themselves, let alone within an environment aesthetically and strategically designed with / around them for it. what could be birthed, what could be healed, and what could be reposed in order for progressive transformation is limitless with the use and existence of Earth and Water. just as life is limitless, creation is limitless, as energy itself. and if you don’t know then i’ll say: energy / creation / life cannot simply die, it is always recreated. there is no end to an end. there is always...
ROOM FOR GROWTH.
Room + Land
do you remember the last time you flew in an airplane with the window seat, seeing aerial views of this great, wide, but tiny Earth? please tell me you haven’t been too afraid of heights, and please, tell me you haven’t had to settle with Google Earth images. at least, try experiencing a fullscreen YouTube video, in HD 720p, of window seat airplane views. my point is that the feelings, thoughts, and surrealism of seeing live aerial views inside of an airplane tells me precisely how miniature and simple we may feel being in such vastly open desert with patchy grasslands, mountains and tucked away body of water - i.e., the Shipwreck Lodge in Namibia. yet, there has to be a feeling of being more than enough for you, for this world, in and of yourself; of being more than anything. everything you could ever want has to be right there within you, within your abode, within the clean slate of sand on sand on sand, horizon, and sky. it’s the knowing of minimalism at its finest. this bare nakedness of opportunity for rebirth is something that could be symbolized within the structure of the homes as what resembles wrecked ships but also, carcasses, bones - ribs to be exact. in your home, you are artfully encased in the openness of desert to become lungs themselves - to breathe with your whole new being, your entire true existence. you have the room to.
