Spring breeze part.4 — Spencer Reid
Icon by @obiwansjedi
Part.1 Part.2 Part.3
Sumarry: After the breakup, Spencer and the Reader follow different paths and lives. But, after 8 years, Gideon's death brings an avalanche of emotions, putting the two face to face again in a reencounter that could break their hearts again — season 10 —
Couple: Spencer Reid /Gideon's daughter!reader.
Warnings: mention of death, mention of violence, death of the father, depressive thoughts, murder, crying, swearing, a lot of anguish, mention of love, fluff (but it has a very fluff too, I'm not a monster)
Word count: 5k.
A/N: This is the most sad chapter that has, I promise that the next will be very cute.💖
I saw Gideon's death episode again to make it as faithful as possible for you guys. I used the original Criminal Minds chronology too, being 8 years from Gideon's last appearance until his death.
English is not my first language, so I so sorry if have a mistake.
Let me know if you want to be added for a taglist for a specific fandom (Criminal Minds, The Umbrella Academy, Riverdale, Roman Godfrey, or all)
Requests are open. Love you ❤️
— — — — —
Hunting bandits. Save people. Improve the world a little bit every day. Those were the three things Spencer believed it was worth to be at BAU. It was worth fighting for, holding on, staying sleepless for days, being haunted by murderers by day and nightmares at night. For what it was worth looking at the abyss, even when it looks to you
Reid could deal with human perversion, with the thousand and one ways to practice heinous crimes, the sowing of evil and cruelty. He could cope with constantly being inside insane minds, learning his whys and mechanisms. He could take it. He put up with it day after day, case after case. He endured being tortured, stay being held at gunpoint, having a piece of his essence plucked with red-hot iron month after month. Spencer knew he could handle it.
But he couldn't handle death. Goodbye. It shattered his soul far more than difficult cases, pushed his own sanity to the limit. Perhaps burying his feelings as deeply as possible was just a method of delaying the wave that would drown him at one time or another. Inevitably.
Each farewell took a piece of Reid away. His father, his mother, Ellie, you, Gideon, JJ, were just a few of the people who left, living their lives elsewhere. But what about those who died? The victims, the children, Hayley, Maeve, Emily (even if only for a short time) and so many others. These took much more than a piece of him. Maybe costu his whole soul.
Spencer felt himself harden over the years, the cases, loss after loss, day after loss. He felt the purity of his own heart slip through his fingers like sand, the faith in humanity to be put to the test. Sometimes even faith in himself.
Was that the price to pay for that job? Being constantly vulnerable? See his life and the lives of the people his loved most at gunpoint?
It was worth?
Maeve's death shook him more than any other, sucking all the pink glow from his world, leaving him with only the cold feeling of hopelessness. A very deep void. It took a long time for memories of she not to hurt like red-hot iron, for his breathing not to be heavy. It took a long time to be happy again.
And when Spencer felt healed from the deepest wounds, the most visceral pains, he was hit again. Deeply. If Maeve's death was a wave that brought him down, Gideon's death was the tsunami that destroyed him.
“It's Gideon.” Hotch's voice confirmed the fear of everyone in that cottage.
Then Spencer felt shattered. Torn apart. Torn like a rag doll and placed on the fire. He wanted to scream, to scream so loudly that he would never regain his voice. He wanted to break something, destroy some, run away.
But run away from whom? From what? That pain or himself? If Spencer had been able to tear off his own skin at that time and be someone else, he would not have hesitated. Not having dropped to his knees in that cottage was a miracle, because Spencer no longer knew what was holding him upright.
Jason Gideon, in many ways, was all that Spencer had. He knew that they took different paths and traveled different roads, living different lives, but he believed that they always end up on the same, even one they was old. Spencer was sure that if he was dying on his knees, Gideon would be to rescue him. For all those 8 years, it was extremely comforting to think that Gideon was out there, living life, finding the hope he had in college, finding the brilliance the world had.
And Reid knew that Jason had you. And you had Gideon. That was the most soothing and comforting thought. No matter what, he knew that you would take care of Jason, just like he would take care of you. But now... now Spencer's world had dissolved in the air. Like a sandcastle knocked over by the wind.
And the pain was surreal.
When he realized, he had left the room, close to the... body. If he could, Spencer would have moved away from himself. How would he take it? One more death, another psychopath. How many other people he love will are died at the hands of the work he did every day?
The answer to all of these questions was frightening, and Spencer wasn't sure if wanted them.
The trip to the coroner was the worst Reid had ever done, talking about the body was the worst conversation he had ever had. And when Morgan put his hand on his shoulder and said that he couldn't close himself now, that they were going to get that son of a bitch, all Spencer wanted to say was that he couldn't take it anymore. That he couldn't breathe. The emptiness was too oppressive. So much visceral pain.
But that was not what Spencer said. He just clung to the only lifeguard in the middle of the rough and deserted sea: justice. Gideon deserve it.
Reid doesn't know how he managed to get back to the Gideon’s house, how he managed to hear Hotch and Rossi talking about what could have happened. But he was there, standing, by some miracle.
“Do you know who might want to have done this?” Hotch asked Stephen, who had arrived, his eyes red from the crying he struggled to hold.
“No. I know he had a list of things he wanted to do before he died... That's how we came back to speak, one of the things was to get back in touch.” His voice was so reminiscent of Gideon's that it was stabbed in the heart of Reid.
“Didn't he talk about being chased? Feeling anything strange?” Rossi commented.
Reid watched Stephen's expressions carefully, first because he reminded Gideon a lot, and second because he looked for any clues in his reactions.
Stephen took a second to think before saying: “No, but we both don't keep in touch daily, you know?” He swallowed a sob, probably with regret, but then his eyes lit up with some information: “'But Y/n surely know, they both spoke to each other every day, if my father was thinking differently, surely she know.”
The mention of your name hit Reid with a very different wave. Bringing a very different feeling than it should. At that moment, he felt himself holding the air.
For a second, a lapse of consciousness, Spencer had not connected any of this with your physical presence. The notion that you were Gideon's daughter was obvious but, for some reason, Spencer didn't think about the fact that you were going to be there. That you would share the same air with him again, the same place...
“We will have to call her, bring her here to see if something has been left, or taken. If there is anything important on the scene.” It was Hotch.
“I called her as soon as you guys called me.” Stephen said “She arrived from California the day before yesterday, my father and she were going to travel.” He tried to swallow the crying, his eyes trembling.
"And you weren't going?" Rossi added.
“I have a son and a wife.” He gave a smile broken by the sadness of the mourning “They would stop by before I go… Y/n was going to tell me the news, since our schedules hardly match much, she works as an astronomer in…”
“Caltech.” Spencer completed, without even realizing it, like a thought out loud.
“Yea.” Stephen agreed.
Spencer felt a chill go from head to toe, and another ton of feelings were thrown at his back. The reality that he was going to see you again hit him hard. Like an arrow. Suddenly, Reid wanted to get out of there. Run as far as possible.
He couldn't see you. He had no ability to deal with those feelings now. Not now, when his life was so overwhelmed with emotions for Gideon’s death that he still hadn't dealt Not when you aroused the feeling of... hope. Spencer can’t could hope, of any kind. Not for them to be taken from him with visceral force. Reid was already hurt enough for handling another fall.
“... But I don't think it's a good idea for my sister to be here, anyway.” Stephen continued to speak.
Rossi and Hotch frowned: “Why?”
“They were very connected. Seeing this scene is not going to do her any good...” he sobs this time “Y/n is not like me… she is sentimental, emotional. ”
“As long as you're trying to stay calm, she'll be the opposite.” Hotch completed.
“I just don't want my sister to suffer anymore and...”
But it was too late for Stephen to complete. It was too much for Spencer to escape. It was too late to be born again, in a different life.
A gray car moved forward on the stone road, at too high a speed not to have washed several road fines. That was so much typical of you who hurt Spencer's heart pieces more than he thought possible. More than he thought he could feel at the time. You were always so wild at the wheel. But Reid didn't have time to finish a thought, not even Rossi, Hotch, Morgan who was with them or even Stephen. Because car brutally stopped it, the door opened and…
And it was as if the sun came out from behind the clouds after years. As if summer had finally come after decades of overwhelming winter. In a burst, everything you've ever represented for Spencer has come back for him once again. And he felt the same thing that he felt when he first saw you, 8 years ago. And he was catatonic.
You got out of the car in a very hurried and desperate way. And as much as there were tears in your eyes and redness in cheeks, Spencer has never seen anyone so beautiful. Your hair was longer, in a brighter shade, maybe you had dyed it. Your features were more lyrical and beautiful, and Reid thought that the passage of time had no effect on you. While he considered himself just less clumsy over the years, you proved to be blooming like Romania's most superb rose.
“DAD!” But that was when your desperate voice brought Reid's consciousness back to earth.
You weren't calling your brother, you weren't asking why, you weren't in mourning. You were in denial. Disbelieving. You called out to your father, with the certainty that he would show up. And the despair in your eyes hurt Reid more than being shot.
But before the agents could do anything, you were running towards the house and Stephen ran towards you, taking you in his arms, trying to keep you from getting inside.
“LET ME GO, STEPHEN!” You struggled, trying to get rid of your brother's arms, your hair messing with the wind, tears streaming down your eyes. “They are wrong! It's not our father! Let me fucking go! DAD!”
“Y/n” Stephen had a broken heart in his eyes, some tears streaming down his eyes “You need to calm down before you get in there !”
“LET ME GO!” Yours sobs broke the hearts of the four agents over there “DAD!” You was cryng out, almost like a prayer, in a desperate call.
"He's gone, Y/n.” Your brother kept his arms stronger in you, trying to contain you while you struggle in trying to break free and go inside the house, under the illusion that you would find your father there.
“NO!” Now your crying was continuous “I spoke to him yesterday! It's not him, Stephen!” Then your brother turned you to him, holding you tight, and you melted into a visseral pain “It can't be him!”
“I know...” he sobbed, looking at you with the same shared pain “I know...”
So you gave yourself up to a painful, loud and desperate crying, the kind that won't let you breathe. And, unlike Reid, you fallen down. Your knees found the stone and grass floor, your hands clasped on Stephen's shirt, who knelt on the floor with you, delivered the pain you both shared.
You knew what your father's risks were in working in such a dangerous profession. Expose yourself to constant and frightening danger. You always knew about the risks, you just tried to ignore them all your life, sinking your fears about your father not coming home at night. Then, when he let the BAU, that fear dissipated. You felt a colossal weight being lifted off your shoulders, like tons of lead, and you let go of a fear so great that you didn't even know you had it.
For 8 years you thought that the chances of him not coming home were over, that the chances of seeing him the next day had increased dramatically. For 8 years you two traveled together, stopping at every type of diner for milkshake, chocolate ice cream and mint - his favorites - For 8 years you had your best friend, the only thing you knew you had in the world. You always knew that if you were drowning in the ocean, it would be your father who would give his lungs for you to breathe.
You didn't see a life without Gideon.
For you, you were crying for hours in what one day was your father's backyard, totally devastated, but for the rest of the world it was a matter of minutes.
Your sobs were so loud and real that Hotch and Rossi caught themselves with watery eyes, perfectly understanding the pain you were going through, the devastation. The two had lost many people, many of them being essential pieces to be able to continue breathing. Many of them felt wounds that would never heal.
But it was Rossi who approached you, the pain at the top of his throat, his mind wandering the day Gideon said he was going to have a little girl. Unlike Stephen, Rossi never saw you in person, but the sparkle in Jason's eyes whenever he talked about you, or with you on the phone, was enough to know that you were one of the essential pieces to keep breathing.
“Hi, my name is Rossi.” He knelt in front of you and your face went towards him, your cheeks and nose as red as your eyes.
“M-my dad talked about you."” You were still sobbing, slowly letting go of Stephen's shirt.
"Good things, I hope.” The two of you laughed like a sigh, and soon the pain returned to your eyes in a visseral way. “I know this is not fair, and I know it is asking too much, but I need you to go inside and try to find something out of place. Something that whoever did this to your father may have taken or left. ”
You closed your eyes in pain, tears streaming as you sobbed. Your hands, trembling and cold, went to your face, perhaps trying to hide from reality, perhaps wiping away tears. Maybe both. When you looked back at Rossi again, you saw the pain in his eyes too.
"I don't know if I can do it.” You admitted, your voice shaking.
"I know.” Rossi took his hand to yours, squeezing comfortingly “But only you can help us now, help other daughters not lose their father to the same killer. Being inside in the house can bring information that is in your subconscious. I promise you will make it, we will all be here with you.”
His handshake got stronger, and it reminded you of your father. That should have been the same way he comforted the victims' relatives, the way he was supposed to act with people.
'Everyone is somebody's son.' That's what Gideon said. It hit you like an atomic bomb. And, for a moment, you thought it was possible to die of sadness.
You squeezed Rossi's hand tightly, as if you were looking for courage. When you opened eyes again, you gave a weak nod. Carefully, as if any sudden movement is capable of causing you more pain, you stood up, your legs wobbly, your heart bleeding, sadness clouding your vision. Rossi put his hand behind your back, in a way to make sure him were there, as an anchorage in reality that would not let you get lost in the valley of sadness and pain.
As you walked up to the house, you didn't see the other agents, you didn't see the trees, the cars. At that time, you didn't even know what color the sky was anymore. It was like a suspended moment, when the world is in slow motion, the hemisphere is terrified. The sadness was palpable in the breeze, in the way that the rays of the sun did not reach the ground. The whole land looked like mourning.
As soon as you stepped inside the house, the smell of home and Gideon hit your nose, and you felt your face tighten in an expression of pure pain. You didn't notice the agents coming in behind you, you didn't notice Penelope and JJ. You just saw the furniture, the decor, his stuff. As if Gideon had just left for the market and was going to come back.
Everything was in was there. Minus the most important thing: him.
You did not notice when Rossi left you, you did not notice who approached. Everything was in a haze of pain.
But that's when you saw the strong blood marks on the floor, stuck to the wood with possession. A cold shiver as sighed from death ricocheted through your entire body, bristling all over your skin. In a burst, like the bursting of a violin string, the mist dissipated, the state of tupor burst, and reality hit you with overwhelming force.
And then the plug fell.
Jason Gideon had died.
You fell again, barely noticing the sobs and loud crying starting to come out again, the most desperate and painful in you life. But this time the arms that took you were different, bringing with you sensations that you haven't felt in a long time. That a long time ago you forgot that you could feel.
They were long, thin, and contained a vigor hidden beneath the thin facade. The smell of his presence was… heaven. That feeling was your anchorage on the high seas, in the valley of despair, and you clung to him for fear of drowning, of not finding your way back home.
You didn't have to see it to know who it was.
You turned to the arms that took you, now Spencer kneels with you on the floor, and you cried in a way that you never cried before, with a visseral pain. Your hands went to the brown cardigan he wore, closing there as if the fabric was your only chance for salvation.
So you looked at the immensity of the his brown irises.
"He was the only thing I had, Spen.” You sobbed loudly with the crying, gently swaying his coat, your voice utterly torn.
Spencer felt his eyes sting, his throat lock and the remains of what was his heart ache in a hideous way.
“I know.” He felt a tear run down his left cheek, his hands on your arms.
At this time, the two of you supported each other. Gideon meant a lot to you two. An irreplaceable role in yours life. And Spencer knew that was what you were talking about when you said:
"He was the only thing we both had.” You closed your eyes, your hands still firmly on his coat, your heart pounding.
But this time Spencer's voice was just as broken when he said: “I know.”
Then he hugged you.He hugged you for everything. He hugged you because it was a pain that only you two could understand. He hugged you because you needed it, and because he needed too.
Jason Gideon had a special connection with you two, a connection that only the two of you had ever experienced. Each relationship with Gideon was different, special in different ways, but only the two of you had him as a protector, mentor, a much more paternal and confidant figure. He was the kind of person you could leave your life in his hands, the kind who would teach you the secret of the worlds, show you what goodness was and at the same time strength. And you two had that.
You stained Reid's coat with tears, and Reid stained you with the strong smell he had. He stepped far enough away to be able to see your face perfectly, at a considerable distance, and, against everything he had ever done before with anyone, he took your face in his hands, his eyes fixed on your in pain shared.
“We will catch how did it.” Reid assured you, as if he had tattooed this words on your skin. You closed your eyes in pain, but he brought you back “Hey, keep looking at me."
So you did it. Because you would always follow Spencer. To hell if he asked.
"Don't take your eyes off mine, okay?” His voice was so sweet, so gentle, and you couldn't have done anything but agree. “When was the last time you spoke to Gideon?”
“Yesterday.” You replied “We were going to travel to the beach today, I took a vacation from work.”
“Was he at home when you two talked?”
The team looked at each other, with several questions in those look.
You denied it, the hiccup now because of the shortness of breath you had because of the crying.
“He stopped at Roanoke for...” and that's when you seemed to remember something.
Your eyes widened softly, your lips trembled, and you let out a stammering sigh as you try to remember something very important.
“What do you remember?” Spencer stroked your cheeks with his thumbs, trying to calm the beating of your heart that went back to being frantic and making you focus on the question, not the sea of emotions you felt.
“He…” was when your eyes fluttered before meeting Reid's again. “He said he saw a woman on the news who was found dead. And ... and that he had to make sure of one thing ”
Rossi looked at Hotch, who gave an attentive and objective expression.
“Did he tell you why?” His eyes closed again and you sobbed. Reid moved closer, bringing your face back in his direction again “Look at me, Y/n.”
As soon as you did, he gave you a gentle smile, but contained all the pain in the world. He understood what you were felling.
“Why was he interested in the case?” He changed the question.
“I-it was something about...” you searched in your mind “Girl named Tara. I don’t know. He mentioned about a blue butterfly tattoo on her ankle as well, and that it was something to do with a… a case or something.”
“1978” Rossi interrupted and everyone looked at him “Gideon and I worked on a case in 1978, the suspect was never caught and Tara was a teenager who we thought had been kidnapped by him. The killer left dead birds in the hands of the victims ”
“But he didn't mention birds and...” That's when your eyes, fluttering, darted around the room and you stopped abruptly.
Spencer turned his attention to you again, seeing that you were staring somewhere. His hands slowly left your face and he asked:
“What?”
“The board.” You pointed to your father's board, which had a beautiful brown bird.
“Does say anything to you?” Rossi turned his attention to you.
You shook your head, your body too exhausted to go to the painting and examine it.
“He shot the board.” You looked at the agents “My father loved that painting, he never would have done that. Even though my father is stunned, he has the best aim I have ever seen.”
“The devil is in the details." Rossi went to the pinting and, after two seconds, turned to the team and said “I already know who did this.”
You let out a gigantic sigh of relief as the agents split up to continue the case, speaking so fast that you couldn't keep up.
“I helped?” You looked at Spencer, tears still shining in your eyes.
He smiled and nodded “Very.”
But when he got up, you took his hand, making Reid turn his attention back to you again, a questioning look on his face.
“You're going to get it, aren't you?” The sob invaded your voice "Promise me that you will catch him, Spen."
Reid took his hand in your, giving you a strong, comforting squeeze before saying:
"I will. I promise.”
And then he left, along with the other agents.
- - -
You thought you knew what pain was, the loss, the tightness in the heart. You thought that your many relationship breakdowns showed you what it was like to suffer. But you have never been so wrong. None of that compared to how you were now, to what you felt.
You would trade that feeling for anything in the world.
This was terrible. A cold, coercive, brutal and cruel feeling. As if you were at the bottom of a black ocean, unable to breathe, falling deeper and deeper, consumed by the overwhelming cold of the water.
It was impossible to say in words how you felt. But if it were you had to define it in one word you would say: pain. A pain that bends you, a pain that makes you want to scream, that pierces your lungs so that it is not possible to breathe, but that even so, you fight for air.
It was pain at its rawest, most brutal, sharp and atrocious like a dagger blade. You would go through Dante's hells for eternity instead of living one day with that pain.
Since Spencer and the agents went after the person in charge, you have sat on the steps of the front door, watching the nature, the shaking of the trees, but your attention was so far, far away. Perhaps unattainable.
Gideon always loved watching the seasons go by, and in that moment, you wondered if looking at the same thing he looked at every day would make you feel close to him. Feel with him. It had only been three days since you last saw him, when he picked you up at the airport, but you felt like you were past three lives. How would you go without it? How were you able to think of living without it?
You pulled your knees up against your chest, hugging your legs, the metallic, atrocious and icy taste of devastation stuck to yours in your mouth. The trees shook hard, forcing the birds to fly away, but you didn't feel cold. You were not feeling the cold breeze hit your body, nor were your muscles contracting in exhaustion from the hard wood of the steps you were sitting on.
The hunger, the cold, the heat or the craving could not reach you, as if the pain had paralyzed all your system. Probably your soul.
You didn't see when Stephen put father's blanket over your shoulders, nor did you hear his sobs for seeing you so devastated. But you smelled Gideon, and the warmth of the blanket was like having his arms around you again. Then the rest of the water in your body found its way to your eyes and crying was as automatic as breathing.
You were clinging to Spencer taking the son of a bitch who did it, trying to chase away any other thoughts that weren't about that. You didn't want to think about what would happen after he was caught. Which meant his capture for you. It would bring justice to Gideon, honoring his name, his life, but it wouldn't bring him back. What was taken from you would not be repaired, regardless of the end of that damned man.
When he was caught, you would have nothing else to focus on instead.
You don't know how long you stayed there. Hours? Days? The those peach and gold tones in the sky is from dusk or the dawn of a new day?
You had lost track of time, as if your watch had stopped since the time Gideon died.
The sound of cars on the road was the only thing that pulled you out of your fucking valley, and as soon as the black SUVs stopped, you stood up as if you had been waiting your whole life for that moment. The blanket fell from your shoulders, heart accelerated at an alarming rate, and for a second, everything was gone from your mind.
Rossi was the first to get out of the car, but yours eyes darted to Reid. You wanted to run, ask what had happened, listen to the answers. But you were paralyzed in place. Afraid of the truth, of reality.
What would become of you after that news?
Spencer came towards you without hesitation, and you couldn't take your eyes off him for a second. He didn't say anything, nor did he explain anything. It was not needed. The way he reached out his hand and placed your father's rings in your palm were enough answers.
Your whole body shook and you looked at Reid with more emotions than askers.
"He is dead." He told you, and it made you fall down again.
But this time you fell into his hugging, clinging to him in despair. There were many meanings in that embrace: gratitude, relief, fear, pain and grief. And Spencer hugged you back in the same way.
You two stayed that way for a while, even when the agents went to talk to Stephen, even when Garcia and JJ left the house, even when the cold wind hit you both.
“Thanks." You heard yourself say it, and Spencer shook his head, signaling that it wasn't necessary, and the two of you moved away.
So you went to Rossi, and hugged him too. In that second, Rossi could feel Gideon in that hug, and it took a second to not cry.
“Your father was a great man." He told you when the two of you walked away, and you agreed on a sad smile.
"He was." You looked down at the rings in your hand, staying a second there before turning to the agents and saying: “You guys are going to the funeral, aren't you? I ... my dad would like it w-very much.”
"Of course." Rossi guaranteed it.
As they walked away and went back to the car, heading for their own houses, your eyes met Spencer's and he whispered in the air to you:
“I will see you at the funeral."
You nodded, giving you a sad, grateful smile. And while everyone was leaving and you were looking at the rings in your hand again, you had a feeling that your story with Spencer had just started over.
A/n: I also lost a very important person to death, and for everyone who went through it too, I mean that no one is alone! My message box is open if you need anything! Love you❤️

So I am combining two asks. One wanted Roman fighting with a gf and one wanted roman dealing with a drunk girl ….
“So not that I’m complaining, but did something happen?” Kara asked her best friend Tori, who had arrived three sheets to the wind, cursing her boyfriends existence.
Tori popped out of the chair she had been occupying and nearly tripped over a throw pillow. Righting herself with all the grace of a drunken armadillo, she made her way to the bar to make another drink.
Exaggeratedly careful not to spill, she prepared two drinks in tall glasses that were more vodka than juice. Turning slowly, and then making her way to her friend, she made sure to give the hazardous throw pillow plenty of room.
Presenting the drink with a flourish, she barely avoided sloshing it all over her bestie, before pounding her own drink in nearly all its entirety. “Kara, drink your drink and listen to my words. I am no longer a girlfriend. I am now free to do as I please and go to where the mountains have the freshest air.” Looking at her glass thoughtfully, she slammed the rest and continued. “Beautiful boys with green eyes and poofy lips are what God has placed on this earth to stop us from getting our best brain, and do you know what?”
Kara wrinkled her nose at the strength of her beverage, discretely looking at the time, (2:30am) and deciding to go to sleep. Looking up at her friend, noticing her waiting for a response, she rolled her eyes and asked “what?”
“Very good. I knew you were just thinking about how deep I’m being. Let’s go get pancakes!” Tori exclaimed excitedly, completely forgetting where she had been going with her speech.
Kara got up and took Toris hand, and dragged her out of the room and down the hall.
“Wow you really want pancakes!” Tori giggled. Doing her best not to stumble and fall, she admired her friends beautiful home, deciding to ask her to help decorate her new apartment she hasn’t gotten yet.
The past year she had been living with Roman Godfrey, her bad boy boyfriend she loved far too much for her own sanity. At first he had just been the super hot, very rich guy that just about every woman in town had had in her bed at some point so she’d figured she’d try him out too. He had exceeded his reputation, and given her the most mind blowing orgasms she’d ever experienced. She knew he lost interest quickly and had expected it, so imagine her surprise when he called on her nearly every day for several months.
When her mother and stepfather confronted her one evening when she was about to get into Roman’s Mercedes, demanding she go back inside and quit embarassing the family by being his whore, Roman made the decision that she no longer lived there. He’d taken her shopping so she could buy anything she needed or had to leave behind, and even given her her own room in his mansion so she had her own space.
He worked a lot, but always sent her cute texts and pics all day, and spent every free minute with her and Nadia.
Nadia had been a bit of a surprise, but he explained how it was his late cousins kid, that he considered his daughter. She wasn’t quite sure why she was such a secret, but really rich people were weird about stuff.
He employed a small army of security, and eventhough they rarely were seen, she knew they were close by and that the entire estate was closely monitored. It’d been weird at first, but she was thankful considering all the horror stories she’d read about with wealthy people loved ones getting ransomed. She thought it was sweet he cared, and almost felt like she was living in a fairy tale.
Things were perfect for quite some time, and she’d never been happier, until he started working really late more often than not. She’d call and text and get no response and even if she called the white tower, they’d tell her he was busy. If she asked the driver to take her to his work to surprise him, they’d refuse, and security wouldn’t let her leave in an Uber.
More and more, she felt like a prisoner and decided she’d go through his phone when he slept. Determined not to let on she was on to him, she was the perfect girlfriend, and never questioned his late hours and ghost mode he slipped into. Determined to get ahold of his phone, she’d try to stay awake longer than him, but it was almost like he didn’t need sleep. Night after night, she’d fall asleep before he did, and always slept soundly till morning when he was already up and dressed.
Finally she’d decided to drink tons of water so she’d wake up in the middle of the night, and it had worked! She grabbed his phone on the way to pee, and had watched him unlock it enough, to know the code.
Going through his messages, she was surprised to find very few females, and the few that were there had been left on read. Switching to the photo albums, she only found dirty pics of herself and his emails didn’t seem to have anything bad either. She was shocked. Totally shocked and soon felt terribly guilty for thinking the worst of him when he must really just be working his ass off.
Creeping back into the bedroom, she plugged his phone back in and slipped into bed, failing to notice the set of eyes observing her.
After that, she’d never complain or let her insecurities make her crazy when he worked late. He often took her on dates and she attended many business dinners with him, and that had actually been where she’d been this evening before she’d fled to a couple bars , finally ending up at her bff’s sprawling estate.
“Ok lushy laroo, I think you need a nap and we can go have pancakes in the morning like normal nice people. Not at 3am.” Kara stated, snapping Tori out of her thoughts.
Tori looked around the lavish room, with its large four poster bed and beautiful French doors leading out to her own personal balcony, and decided she couldn’t fight her friend on this.
Kara was being so nice to her and had always been her friend eventhough she didn’t come from a super rich family. Karas family was always traveling somewhere, but due to her various health issues, she didn’t leave Hemlock Grove very often. She had always been a sweet quiet girl, but had suffered a lot of bullying because of her super thick glasses and moderate limp when she walked.
Tori had always been her defender, and had gotten her ass kicked on more than one occasion, being karas hero. She’d always figured better her, than Kara since Kara was sick. She was healthy and could take a punch.
Smiling a silly smile, Tori hugged Kara, before stumbling over to the bed and flopping down fully clothed. “Goodnight best friend.”
“Goodnight. Tomorrow over breakfast you can tell me what happened.” Kara said softly as she quietly closed the door.
Tori lay there, hoping she was drunk enough to pass out, but her very uncomfortable dress wouldn’t allow it. Rolling on her stomach and attempting to undo the zipper proved impossible, so she soon found herself in a heap on the floor, struggling to undo the torturous clothing. Getting to her feet, she decided tongs were needed to reach the zipper and her inebriation couldn’t possibly be the reason for her lack of coordination.
Making her way back to the bar in the study, she wandered this way and that until it started to look familiar again in the palatial mansion. Finally recognizing a painting as the hallway leading to the study, she squealed in delight at finding the bar. Feeling parched from the exercise, she decided another drink was in order. Poking around the room she opened a closet she’d never noticed, and found a bat inside.
“Whatever are you here for?” She mused aloud. Swinging it around a bit, she decided to take it with her in case she came across any bad guys. Making her way back out into the hall with the bat and entire bottle of vodka, she blearily swerved her way along, trying to recall where her room had gone off to. Several minutes later, and not any less lost, she came across an open elevator, and stepped inside.
Pressing all the buttons, she decided to get out wherever it decided to drop her off. Getting out, and not bothering to pay attention to the floor she was on, she made her way to the lit up room at the end of the corridor.
Peeking inside, she was thrilled to find she’d made it to the ballroom. Marveling at the grand room and the fact Kara even had one, she briefly pondered who had more money; Roman or Kara.
Deciding it didn’t really matter, she made her way to the stereo system and attempted to operate the overly complicated, technologically impossible machine. Pressing buttons, hoping something eventually would happen proved to be futile. Cursing the creators of all audio equipment everywhere and attempting to operate the device by voice commands, got her so worked up, she almost missed the sound of something small and hard striking the window.
Dropping to the ground in a less than graceful, but she imagined very smooth, stealth-like move, she picked up her bat and looked to the balcony doors. Weaving her way across the room, in a wonderfully stealthy, oh so silent style, she leaped at the doors, opening them swiftly.
Looking over her shoulder and hissing in a loud whisper to the imaginary Kara she forgot wasn’t with her, “do not be afraid my Kara, I will defeat the beast with my trusty bat.” Not seeing Kara, she decided she’d already hidden and was probably one of the smartest people ever in the history of people. She would defend her to the death.
Taking several large stealthy, ninja-like steps, she imagined she was practically a trained assassin level of sneaky, at this point. Peering over the balcony she shouted, “we’ve got you surrounded and the hounds have been released!”
“Kara is allergic to dogs.” A familiar voice replied.
Tori tried to focus her blurred vision below her but wasn’t having much luck. Everything kept rolling in a way, and it was dark. “Are you a big scary monster?” She asked seriously.
“How much have you had to drink?”
“Answer the question! Are you a monster? I’ll know if you lie.” She stated confidently, giving a firm nod of her head.
“Just get down here and come outside.”
“Well you’re obviously a monster and I WILL NOT go to your cave where you will eat me or make me watch scary monster shows while you drink beer and burp. I will not monster man!”
“Get your drunk ass down here!” The voice commanded impatiently.
“How do you know I’ve been drinking? Have you been spying on me with your spy eyes?”
“Tori I love you. Come home.”
“Roman?” She squeaked.
“Yes?”
“Roman Godfrey my boyfriend that never wants to get married Roman?” She slurred in her best interrogation tone.
Roman let out a loud sigh. He contemplated just leaving her for Kara to deal with but he’d driven all the way here, and climbed the fence. He didn’t like going home to an empty bed either. He’d gotten used to her. He loved her. He couldn’t understand what the big deal was. Marriage was only a piece of paper.
Flashback- earlier that night
“So how long have you two been together? I heard you guys live together.” The hostess of the dinner party asked with a smirk.
Tori didn’t like the way she was looking at Roman, and hoped he’d never fucked her but realistically she’d be more shocked he didn’t than if he did. “We are coming up on 2 years pretty soon.”
“Do I hear wedding bells in the future? Make an honest women out of her!” A short rotund man practically shouted as he patted Roman on his back.
Roman scoffed. “I’m never getting married. Ever.”
Toris eyes widened as she looked to Roman to see if he was kidding, but he looked very serious. It felt like someone had punched her in the gut. She looked around at all the people standing around and they were all staring at her, watching how she reacted. She tried to look unaffected and cool, but the way he had said it had been so sure. So final. She could feel the tell tale burn at the back of her eyes and refused to tear up in front of these people. “Excuse me. I need to use the restroom.” She stated before turning quickly away, and speeding towards the closest bathroom.
“Looks like you hurt your little girlfriends feelings,” she heard the hostess say snidely. “Awww poor baby.”
“Don’t be tacky.” A male voice snapped before she turned a corner and was out of hearing range.
She could hear their laughter though. Finding the bathroom, she went inside and locked the door. She felt really ridiculous for reacting so strongly to his statement. Did she even want to get married? And to Roman freaking Godfrey of all people?
Instantly her head said yes. She had to grab the counter, she was having a full on panic attack at this point. Trying to calm down, she looked in the mirror and focused on her breathing.
In. Out. Repeat.
As time passed, she could feel herself calming. This wasn’t the end of the world. He could always change his mind or maybe she’d get sick of him, she reassured herself.
Just as she was about to open the door, there was a knock. She stood there frozen, holding her breath, praying they go away.
“Tori?” Came the voice of her boyfriend.
“I’ll be out in a minute!” She chirped.
“Stay in there if you’re gonna be all emotional over something as stupid as the fact we are never getting married.” He retorted.
Her heart sunk. She couldn’t believe he was talking to her like this. She sat down on the toilet, and put her head in her hands. She could hear him fidgeting around on the other side of the door impatiently.
“Whatever. I’ll be back at the party whenever you feel like gracing us with your presence.” He bit out before storming away.
She needed to leave. She needed to get away. She needed to get shit faced with her best friend Kara. This was a bit too much reality for her. She was young, beautiful, smart and the world was her oyster. She was not gonna put up with his shitty attitude or his fake ass friends and business associates. She wasn’t tied down by anything.
Whipping out her phone, she opened her ride sharing app and saw that a driver was 2 minutes away. Glancing up at the mirror, she smiled before confirming the pick up. She knew Roman would be furious she left but frankly, she couldn’t find it in herself to give a shit.
“You’re name sounds a lot like Romeo but I must say you kinda suck at being romantic.” She mused.
“Would you like me to kill myself? Would that be more romantic? Or maybe I should kill your family members or dress up like some asshole prince?” He snarked up at her.
Looking down at him thoughtfully, she tilted her head to the side before slowly nodding her head. “Any of those will do. The night is still young, there’s still time.”
Roman crossed his arms and glared up at her.
“Oh don’t make your mad face! You know you look far too adorable when you try to make the mean face.” She chuckled, trying to not bust out laughing, but as she turned her attention back down to him and he still was attempting to look mean, she burst out into peals of laughter.
“Do I need to break in this house and pull you out?”
“Pssshhh. As if. I’ll karate chop you in the throat” she said as she demonstrated a few sloppy karate chops. “ yah! Throat chop!”
“Ok but don’t say I didn’t warn you…”
“Kara and I are going to breakfast. I’m sleepy. Goodnight.” She said before hurrying inside. Locking the door behind her, she gracefully swept across the floor. Walking out of the ballroom, she huffed when she realized she had no clue where her room was.
Making her way down the hall, she paused at a room that appeared to be a sitting room with a big comfy velvet couch. Briefly pondering over what Roman was probably up to, she pushed him out of her thoughts and welcomed blissful sleep.
The next morning, she woke up in the guest room somehow, trying to remember how she’d gotten there. Sitting up, she realized her dress was off too, and jumped when she turned to see a set of green eyes staring at her from the chair by the fireplace.
“What the shit Roman?” She shrieked. “You’re so creepy sometimes!” She flopped back down, staring at the ceiling. This was far too much reality this early in the morning, with a wicked hangover quickly approaching….

You padded down cold stairs in bare feet, yawning as you did. You could already hear Roman and Peter talking quietly at the breakfast bar over cold cereal and sleep graveled voices as you reached the bottom landing. You stretched your arms above your head with a resounding squeak that announced your entrance.
As you push away unruly strands of hair from your face, you rub your cheek, still sheet streaked and warm to the touch.
“G’morin’ (Y/N).” Peter greeted through a mouth full of milk soaked Sugar Crisp.
“Morning, love.” You replied, placing your hands on his bare shoulders and pressing a chaste kiss to the crown of his head.
You let your hands linger on his skin a moment longer before you stepped around him and to the pantry.
“Good morning,” Roman called after you as he watched appreciatively as the hem of your short negligee dusted the tops of your thighs.
You acknowledged him with a hum, but gave him no further greeting. No good morning, no kiss, no smile. Just a hum as you rummaged around searching for your box of oatmeal.
Roman hadn’t come to bed until just before dawn the previous night, only furthering the animosity you felt for him. The new, deep and unrelenting displeasure you held for him now that he had let another woman into your home.
“What? Peter gets a fucking endearment and I don’t get anything?” Roman griped. His voice grated on your ear drums and his angry breathing only served to churn your disdain for him.
You kept mute, clenching your teeth as you gathered a bowl and some milk to make your morning oats.
You pictured turning around to spit in his face, and how it would feel to watch his reaction as your saliva splattered his skin. You’d then tell him to go fuck himself, maybe break a glass while you were at it, anything to get his attention. Or maybe you’d go hop on Peter’s lap, place his hands on your bare thighs and stick your tongue down his throat. That was probably better than any tantrum you could throw. Your boyfriend was nothing if not possessive of what he deemed as his. You fell under that laundry list of Roman’s possessions, though you were unsure if you were soon to be erased and replaced with five new letters.
Because it had been a little over a week since Annie had taken residence in the second guest bedroom. A fucking week of seeing her and Roman eye fuck each other and share whispered conversations. A week of her connecting with Roman on a level you couldn’t understand, of being a part of schemes, of helping him and Peter (something you were never allowed to do) and talking about Nadia. You’re fucking daughter. You swore the next time her mouth began to form the syllables to the child’s name, you were going to strangle her to death. Upir or not, you were sure your pure maternal rage would be no match for her.
And, it had been a goddamn week of you sulking and pouting and seething without Roman taking even the slightest notice, or if he did, not caring a bit. That, more than anything else, is what was truly making you irate.
“(Y/N)? What the hell?” Roman cursed again as you slammed dishes around in cabinets.
Before he could say anything else, another pair of footsteps sounded on the stairs.
“Good morning!” Came her happy french lit as she bounded toward the three of you.
You didn’t acknowledge her presence, simply continued on with your oatmeal.
“I still haven’t gotten over the water pressure here. It’s so wonderful,” Annie says, and you’re sure Roman is half hard at her stupid compliment.
You still haven’t looked at her, but you’re picturing her with damp hair and ruddy cheeks from the hot water. Her face smooth and freckled with youth. Her damp hair turning her already light sleepwear see through and sticky.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying it,” Roman chimes and your neck prickles with anger.
The ice he was treading on with you was growing thinner and thinner by the moment. Melting under your fiery ire for his behavior. When he finally fell through, you hoped he’d drown.
“What are you planning on doing today? Do you have work?” Annie asks.
“I do, but do you need me for something?”
You scoff much louder than you had anticipated and you can feel three pairs of eyes on your back. You square your shoulders and turn toward the group, but don’t look at any of them. The stupid Hardy Boys with their brand new Nancy Drew, resigning you to be the villain, you supposed.
You walk around the breakfast bar with purpose, turning your body obnoxiously to avoid touching Annie as you pass. You weren’t close to her as she leaned against the counter, but you wanted her to know just how much you loathed her. So much so, that the idea of touching you made you recoil.
“Uhm, no. I was just making conversation.” She replied, her voice wavering after your subtle outburst.
You held back a pleased expression as you went to the couch, sitting at the farthest corner from the kitchen and taking the throw blanket from the back and wrapping yourself in it. You took your first bite of oatmeal and clinked the spoon loudly back in the bowl in protest.
“Is everything alright, (Y/N)?” You hated how your name sounded so melodic coming off her tongue, “Are you feeling alright?”
You don’t reply, just continued to eat your breakfast, looking straight ahead. The tension was palpable in the room as Annie shifted her feet and waited for your response. You wish she would pick up on your clear animosity toward her and quit trying to engage with you. Her efforts were admirable, you’d admit, but with the way she looked at Roman, and the way she spoke to him, there was absolutely no way she could possibly expect you to indulge her.
You could feel Roman’s glare on you, his green eyes burning holes through the knit throw to sear your skin with displeasure. Peter was still turned toward the island, shoulders tense with discomfort at the scene you were creating. You almost felt sorry for him, it wasn’t his fault Roman was being an oblivious asshole (and that you were retaliating the way you were). He didn’t deserve to be caught in the awkward crossfire. Maybe you would sneak him into a corner and feel him up for a bit? He did deserve some pleasure for living with Roman’s pain (and hey, if it made Roman jealous in the process, that would just be a bonas of your good deed).
Soon, Annie recovered from your echoing silence and moved back to talking with Roman and Peter. You could see her out of the corner of your eye, sleep shorts hanging low on her hips and flimsy white t-shirt you had imagined, dipping down from her relaxed stance, giving both men a perfect view down her top. You didn’t have to be looking at Roman to know he was stealing glances.
You stayed on the couch, trying to eat your breakfast, but the oats were soggy and not as good as when Roman made them with cinnamon and maple sugar. You toyed with the beige mush until Roman announced he was off to The Tower. He gathered his jacket and briefcase before saying goodbye to Peter and Annie.
“I’m leaving,” Roman called over to you.
You kept your vow of silence and pretended to be interested in the curdling food before you.
“Jesus fucking-- fine! Goodbye.” He spat, irritated.
You continued to fold your oatmeal around your bowl until the front door slammed shut and Annie spoke after a moment's pause.
“I think I’ll be off, too. I have some errands to run.” Biding you both a quick adui before she exited the kitchen for the stairs.
You huffed to yourself. She could only stand to be around you and Peter when Roman was in attendance.
“I feel like I’m in a high school cafeteria and Annie just took your seat next to Roman.” Peter joked, having heard your annoyed sound.
“Well, she should know I always have an assigned seat next to him,” You said, setting your bowl on the coffee table and crossing your arms.
“Oh my God, (Y/N)! Do you hear yourself?”
“I do, and I know I sound childish but I’ve lost the will to care.”
You hear Peter sigh, then the sound of him getting up from his stool to come sit next to you.
“What’s next? Are you going to spread a rumor about her to make Roman think she’s icky?”
“Like anything I said could make him stop mooning over her,” You reply with disdain.
“He loves you, you know that. He’ll ask you to prom, buy you the most valentines and all that shit.”
“He has a funny way of showing it.” You pout with a furrow of your brows.
“Have you considered just telling him how you feel about Annie staying here?” Peter asked.
“If he can’t figure out on his own why I’m so angry, it’s not my problem.”
“Do you really think that’s fair?”
“No,” You tighten your arms across your chest, “But it’s not my fault that your gender has no emotional intelligence or inference skills.”
Peter chuckles, “All the more reason to just come out and tell Roman how you’re feeling.”
You roll your eyes and give him a half hearted glare, “Don’t you have a job to be getting too?”
“Yes, but I want to make sure you at least mull over my option first.” He nudges you gently with his knee
You give a small pause before a small smirk breaks out over your lips, “I was actually thinking about making out with you to make him jealous. Would you be willing?”
Peter claps his hands down on his thighs and pushes up from the couch, “And with that, suddenly I’m late.”
“Oh c’mon!” You giggle and get up to follow him, “Not even a little peck? Just put your hand on my ass!”
“I would rather keep all my limbs attached, thank you very much.” Peter says as he trouts up the stairs.
“You’ll like it!” You call up after him with a laugh.
“That was never in question, sweetheart! I just like my head on my shoulder and not on Roman’s mantle.”
“It’s my mantle, too.” You mutter, going up the stairs after him and heading to the master bedroom in hopes of avoiding Annie before she left for the day.
You had taken an angry nap until noon and then went downstairs to your office to get some work done. It was during this time that Jane, Roman’s new housekeeper after Anna, informed you there were some nice cuts of meat that would be going bad soon, and if you’d like it for dinner that evening.
“That sounds wonderful, Jane. Thank you.” You replied, peering at her over your computer screen.
“Would you like to ask Mr. Godfrey if he would like steak for this evening? Or if another night would be better?” Roman was known to work late, so this question wasn’t unreasonable to ask.
“I’d call him and ask, but unfortunately I am about to hop on a conference call and don’t have a spare minute. Would you mind calling to ask?” You asked in your sweetest voice.
“Of course, Ms. (Y/L/N).” Anna gave you a smile before she parted from the room.
You sighed, and went back to your riveting game of solitaire.
That night with burgundy stained lips, you sat at the head of your long dining table waiting for Roman to return for work. The beautiful reclaimed wood table that you had excitedly picked out at an estate sale that you had seen Annie sitting on just two days before. Swinging her legs like a child and eating a peach while letting Roman ogle her as the juice dripped down her flawless skin. You had slammed the front door so hard that the frame shook.
As you guzzled down your third glass of Merlot, Peter kicked your foot. A silent plea to slow down, so this evening didn’t explode with your loose lipped temper. But, you paid him no mind. You mostly just thought about how much you hated Annie for making you hate her. Hate her, and Roman. Because, really, you weren’t one of those women who stewed in jealousy or was in a constant fear of their partner cheating. Maybe that was because Roman had always been clear in his devotions to you. Sure, his eyes would wander when an attractive woman passed, but you knew he never acted on it. You had a trust in him that had never wavered until now.
You didn’t want to be one of those women who hated other women or demonized them for having your boyfriend’s attention. You didn’t want to be the girlfriend that men could point at and make stereotypical remarks about your possessiveness and label you “crazy” because of your actions in this scenario behind the three of you… but you were near the end of your rope and the woman had barely been staying with you two weeks. You were starting to question that unmoving trust you placed in Roman and it made you sick. All you could hope was that you were wrong… or at least that Peter would have told you if something happened between Annie and Roman by now.
Half way through your fourth glass, the front door sounded open and in sauntered Roman, with Annie in tow.
“Nice of you both to join us,” Peter teased, though you saw a split second of panic cross his features. You knew he didn’t want to play into your paranoia and had just done so unwillingly.
“Oh yes, we just happened to run into each other in the driveway,” Annie said, throwing a beaming grin over her shoulder at Roman who offered her a smile.
“How coincidental,” You offered over the rim of your glass.
Everyone in the room darted their gaze to you, clearly surprised that you had decided to end your silent streak.
“Yes, I suppose it was.” Annie replies, her smile still intact, “Now what’s all this then?”
“Jane noticed some food that was going to go bad in the fridge and offered to make a nice meal for us.” You said evenly.
You remembered when us just meant you and Roman.
“How thoughtful,” Annie said, looking to Jane who thanked her quietly.
“Ms. (Y/L/N) was a great help with it as well,” Jane said, opening another bottle of wine as you had almost polished off the one she had originally opened for the evening.
Ms. (Y/L/N). Not Mrs. Godfrey. You were easy to be rid of, exiled at a moments notice.
Jane was been modest. You had sat with her while she cooked and idly chatted, handing her utensils and chopping up garlic, but nothing else. You were sure she was trying to get Roman to take notice of your efforts, which you thought was sweet. You hadn’t come out and explicitly talked about your problems with Roman to Jane, you were sure she had figured it out on her own.
See that Roman? Your housekeeper knows more about what’s wrong than you do!
“Well, thank you, (Y/N). It looks wonderful.” Annie said.
You might have even thanked her through gritted teeth, had Roman not just pulled out a seat for her and gently pushed it back in. Instead, you settled back into your discontented humming and poured what was left of the original bottle of wine into your glass.
Peter could sense your inebriation level bordering on dangerous, so he quickly raised a glass in distraction.
“Let’s make a toast! We don’t get to have such a fancy dinner this often, y’know?” He smiled through his unease, and if you weren’t almost five glasses deep you might have even caught the desperate looks he was throwing you.
The please-for-the-love-of-god-don’t-start-a-fight-with-me-here looks.
“Well, how about to (Y/N) and Jane? For making this feast?” Annie offered, raising her glass to match Peter’s.
“Yes,” Roman said, his voice tight, “To (Y/N). And Jane of course.”
His eyes bore into you, both of you on opposing heads of the table. He raised his wine in the air like he was challenging you to a game you weren’t sure the rules of. You had never felt so uncomfortable in his presence ever before, and suddenly the idea that something was really wrong between the two of you seemed more plausible.
You raise your glass to your honor, but don't cheer’s anyone, just simply place the glass back to your lips.
Everyone then went around dishing out food on their plates and passing bowls to each other. Annie was always sure to pass to Roman first and he was always the first to offer her what he was holding. You felt like you and Peter were intruders on the romantic dinner that you had cooked for them (well, helped cook).
“Oh, I have some of Pryce’s plasma left in the fridge, do you want any?” Roman offered to Annie as she took a dish of mashed potatoes from him.
“If you wouldn’t mind. Thank you,” She accepted his offer so meek and polite you almost gagged.
Maybe this was meant to be? She was the perfect little wife for Roman after all. Sweet, attentive, was just subversive enough to seem interesting, an upir. The latter was likely the best contender for why Roman would be kicking you to the curb soon. It made sense, they were the same and she was new. And don’t all men want some new pussy after a while? You were no stranger to Roman’s reputation, and you had been reminded by many a peer of his serial adultery in the past… you had just hoped he’d outgrown it when he fell in love with you.
Roman came back with the plasma and leaned over Annie’s shoulder to fill her glass. You heard her take a sharp intake of breath at his closeness and watched as she glanced up at his face, which was mere inches from her own.
You ground your knife hard into the porcelain of your plate, and the sound broke her from her Godfrey trance. You pretend nothing happened and put a green bean in your mouth.
You tuned out the table’s conversations about their days and recent events, feeling isolated and somber. The wine was no doubt contributing to your sadness, but the residual feelings of neglect and rejection were getting to you. Because if Roman really cared, wouldn’t he have pulled you aside by now and just asked you if you were alright? Why you had been avoiding him, why you wouldn’t kiss him goodnight or good morning? Or did he just truly not care at all? Had you been replaced so easily?
You continued to sulk and play over a fictional break up in your head when a topic caught your attention.
“Any news on Nadia?” Annie asked as she swallowed a piece of bread.
Not the baby. Not your baby. Not the child. But Nadia. This woman who was trying to usurp your place in Roman’s life while you were still very present, had just again spoken your daughter's name. Like she had the fucking right.
Before Roman could answer, you pushed up from your seat, again causing all eyes to attach to you. You walked over to the fridge and obtained an old bottle of steak sauce (that you didn’t even want, you were just angry) and returned back to the table with a scowl.
And it seemed this most recent outburst was Roman’s tipping point.
“What the fuck is up with you?” He bellowed, throwing his hand in the air with similar fervor.
“Nothing.” You replied with a snap.
“Sure as shit fooled me! Because you’ve been acting like a fucking brat for the past week. So, why don’t you share with the class what’s on your mind, hmm?” Roman leaned back in his seat and dramatically gestured for you to speak.
“You wanna know my problem, Roman?” You bit out.
Peter was likely already planning his escape.
“That’s what I said.”
“My problem is that if you bring one more whore into this house, it’s gonna start to feel like a brothel. And I am far too young to be a madam.”
And there it was. Grievances were now aired, and unfortunately in front of your two house guests.
Roman’s jaw tensed and flexed as he stared you down, “Peter. Annie. Would you excuse us?”
Both stood without any more prompting and scurried to the stairwell as you and Roman continued to glare at each other in silence. When you heard the twin sounds of doors shutting, Roman finally spoke.
“So you’ve been a fucking nightmare because Annie is staying here? Are you kidding?” He scoffed.
“Don’t belittle me,” You ran a hand through your hair and looked away from his piercing gaze.
“What? Like you just did to Annie?” He motioned to where she had sat.
“Oh,” You mock, “Roman, her knight in shining armour. I’m sure it’s hard to save her when you’re up on your high horse.”
“What are you even talking about?”
“I’m talking about this fucking obsession you have with this woman! This obsession your culviating right under my nose and in my home.”
“Are you fucking serious?” He spits.
“Yes, I am. And don’t play so god damn naive. If the roles were reversed, you would have thrown a fit by now! Fuck, a fit! Fuck any amount of tantrums I could even begin to think of throwing! You would have murdered someone by now.” You seethed.
Roman looked at you with a bewildered expression, his eyes bugging and his mouth agape, stuttering for words, “So, you’ve really just been jealous? Fucking Christ!”
“Like you wouldn’t be if the tables were turned.”
“Fuck off about if the tables were turned. We’re talking about you, not me.”
“No! We are talking about you, Roman. This is just as much about you as it is me.” You shout, “And it has everything to do with the tables being turned. Because if I invited a man to stay in this house -- our house -- and all he ever did was fawn over me and I batted my eyelashes at him and giggled at everything he said while in nothing but a towel you would give yourself an aneurysm.”
“Stop changing the subject,” Roman snarled.
“Can you tell me with absolute and utter certainty that if I offered some guy a room, then spent all my time with him, had little inside jokes with him and touched him, you wouldn’t be angry?”
Roman doesn’t respond, just resets his jaw.
“So, if this man told me how beautiful I was, flirted with me and would never shut up about how similar we were, you wouldn’t be mad?” Roman just clenched.
“What if you started to suspect that I was fucking him, huh? What if you started to think about him inside me? Kissing me? Making me cum? Making me--”
Roman’s fist connecting with the tabletop cut you off.
“Enough! You win, OK? I would hate it, alright? I’d fucking kill him.”
“Thank you! That’s all I wanted. I just wanted you to see my side of this fucking story. Why I have been so mad.” You deflate against your chair, though you know this fight is far from over.
“And you didn’t just tell me, why?” Roman inquires.
“Because you should have known! I know that sounds ridiculous and I can see you rolling your eyes, but you should have known that I was upset and asked me what was wrong.” You said, tears bubbling up, causing your throat to constrict.
“I did ask you! I asked you this morning.”
“Yeah, in front of fucking Peter. Like I was going to tell you then… and you didn’t even mean it when you asked. If I would have told you, you would’ve just yelled at me and made me seem like I was crazy. I wasn’t going to open up to you when I already thought you thought I was being stupid.”
“You thought that I thought? Jesus… I have no idea what you want from me…” Roman sighs, reaching around the back of his chair to retrieve his cigarettes from his jacket pocket.
“I want you to hear me when I say that having Annie here, a woman who so clearly wants to fuck you, bothers me. A woman who you are clearly attracted to, a woman who is clearly attracted to you. It hurts me that you’re letting her stay here, especially when you didn’t even ask me if she could.” You were barely holding off the overflow of tears from your eyes at this point and you knew the second you started to cry this would all be over. Because you would start to blubber and Roman would get irritated that you couldn’t get a word out.
“Let me get this straight: I’m attracted to Annie, she’s attracted to me? So I’m going to have sex with her? And what? Leave you? Is that right?” Roman puffs around his cigarette, the condescension in his tone unbearable.
And your dam broke, the tears threatening to breach your lash line were flowing freely now. Why Roman wasn’t able to just see that something was hurting you and help change, was beyond you. You decided right then and there that you refused to let him have the satisfaction of watching you cry. You were done, for an unforeseeable amount of time.
“You’re so fucking mean.”
You sucked your teeth loudly before pushing up from your seat and heading for the front door.
“C’mon, what are you doing now?” Roman groaned, turning to watch you leave over his shoulder.
“I’m done. I’m going to Destiny’s.” You said curtly, taking your purse and keys from the hook in the entryway.
“No, you’re not.”
“Yes I am. I’m done, Roman.” You slung your purse of your shoulder and clutched your keys tight.
“What for tonight or forever?” He asked like he was calling your bluff.
“If you can’t understand why I am so hurt, then I don’t know. Maybe forever.”
“Hey, woah, what?” Roman’s voice was startled as he got up from his seat and rushed to the door, “No, you aren’t leaving. This conversation isn’t over.”
He planted a large hand on the door handle, preventing you from opening it. You could feel his hulking figure behind you and you wanted to shrink under his size, but stayed strong.
“Roman, move your hand.”
“You’re not fucking leaving. Let’s just talk this out, OK?” He bargained.
You tried to pry Roman’s long fingers from the handle, but even with all your might working to untangle their hold, he was just too strong.
“I’ll listen, OK? I’m sorry, just let’s talk. Let’s talk about this.” His knuckles were turning white below you. You could see his bones threatening to break the surface of his reddening skin.
“Are you going to listen to me, or just dismiss and make fun of me? Because if you do Roman, I’ll just go out the back door.”
“I will. Promise.” He sounded sincere. Maybe now that he knew you were serious, he was more receptive to what you had to say.
You turned to press your back to the door and look up at him. The fear on his face was surprising to you. You hadn’t expected him to be so scared at the prospect of your leaving, he sure hadn’t cared that you were around since Annie arrived.
“I’m mad at you.” You stated frankly.
“Yeah, I caught that.” He sighs.
“I don’t like how you act around Annie. It’s disrespectful to me. I’m not a woman who cares when you look, but when you start to flirt and threaten to touch? I’m done, Roman. I’m not kidding.” You raised your eyebrows as Roman listened intently.
“I never touched.” He swore.
“Yes, but you’ve flirted and “innocently” touched. Flirted, touched and now you are starting to look at her like you looked at me.”
“I have never looked at her the way I look at you.”
You scoffed, then pantomimed his love lorn expression for him, clasping your hands over your heart theatrically.
He just rolled his eyes, “I’ve never looked at Annie like that.”
“Trust me, you have.” You say, ducking under his outstretched arm to walk back to the kitchen.
“Baby…”
“Don’t baby me, I’m still pissed.” You started to gather the abandoned plates to put in the sink for Jane.
“Then what can I do, huh? How do we work this out?” He asks, running a hand through his hair.
“Let me just ask you something,” You abruptly turn from the sink to face him, “Do you want to fuck her?”
Roman sucks in a deep intake of breath and opens his mouth, but closes it just as quickly.
Your tears threaten once more. You already knew his answer was yes, though all but hearing him say it was worse.
“Ok, let me ask you something else. Have you slept with her?”
“No! Absolutely not, baby. Never.” Roman said, taking a step toward you.
“And why should I believe you when I know that you want to have sex with her? Hm?” You crossed your arms.
“Because you know I love you. Because you know that I can’t even stomach the idea of my life without you,” Roman says, his tone frighteningly serious.
You look at him for a long moment, his eyes pleading for you to speak while you collected what you wanted to say next.
“Do you want to leave me for her?” You finally said, trying your best to sound collected.
“Baby, hey--”
“No, just listen Roman,” You took a breath, “Because, you know, if you wanna be with her, be with her. Just do it. Don’t string me along because you’re scared of losing more people. Because I get it, I mean I do. She’s an upir, you’re an upir... You have shared experience and she can teach you about what you are and just… Roman if you leave me just don’t be a pussy and cheat on me. Just break up with me.”
Roman looked at you bewildered and once again stammered for his words. For a moment, you were planning on looking at the price of U-Hauls; on how long you could stay with Destiny before you were intruding; if you would stay in Hemlock Grove because it was less expensive or just go straight to shopping for places in Philly?
But Roman doesn’t sigh and tell you it’s over. He doesn’t let you down easy or even scream and stomp his feet.
He just says:
“I love you more than I have loved anyone in my entire life. Family, friends, whatever. It doesn’t matter because you win. You always win. I’m not breaking up with you, alright? Jesus fucking Christ, nothing sounds worse to me than that.” Roman takes a long stride toward you to look soulfully into your eyes.
“Yeah, I think Annie’s hot and yes, she’s an upir. So fucking what? I’m not going to leave you because of that! I could give a shit about either of those things when you’re right under my nose.”
Your pick at your nail polish as you listen to him, feeling embarrassed. But Roman doesn’t let you wallow as he tilts you by the chin to look at him.
“I should’ve asked you if she could stay, I’ll admit that. I shouldn’t have been so chummy with her, either. And yeah, I probably should’ve just asked you why you were being so fucking moody. But you should have told me what was wrong without pouting.”
“I just wanted you to come to me and ask… for some reason I convinced myself if you asked me what was wrong, it was a sign that you still loved me.” Saying it out loud made your face heat uncomfortably.
“I love you, but that has to be the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.” Roman chuckles.
“Don’t be rude,” You huff, pushing him gently by the shoulder, “Letting another random woman stay here was the real stupid thing.”
“How about we call it a draw?”
“I think I can handle that…”
“Ok, then it’s a deal. I’m sorry, you’re sorry, it’s all good.” Roman pinches your chin lightly to hold your face in place to place a soft kiss to your lips.
You hadn’t kissed him in days, and the feeling made you whimper.
“Is there anything else you need to get off your chest crazy lady?” Roman asks, his breath dusting your mouth with a smirk on his face.
You push him again, with more strength this time.
“I don’t like when Annie mentions Nadia. She is our daughter and hearing that woman say her name makes me go into like, hyper lioness mode and all I think about is punching her.”
Roman’s eyes widened.
“I do not need another woman sticking her nose in our business with our daughter. May I remind you that’s how we got into this whole mess in the first place?”
Roman sucks in a deep breath through his nose, “That’s fair.”
“I already miss her, I don’t need some woman who’s trying to hop on my boyfriend’s cock talking about her.” You were starting to get angry again.
And fucking Roman, he just smiles.
“Hearing you call her our daughter, calling me your boyfriend, all while being on a little jealous rampage? I gotta admit baby, it’s got me hard as a rock.”
“It always comes back to your weird primal possession,” You roll your eyes.
“Eh, you knew that from the beginning.” He shrugs.
“You’re still not totally forgiven, y’know?”
“Yeah? And what do I have to do to get out of the dog house, baby?” His smile turns devious.
“I want Annie out of this house,” You began.
“Done.” Roman cups your face as he started to walk you back toward the counter.
“I don’t want you seeing her without someone else present, or without telling me first. Not because I don’t trust you, but because--”
“--You don’t trust her. Got it,” Roman says, firmly pressing your lower back to the marble slab now.
“You know I have an intuition about these things,” You purse your lips in a pout as Roman begins to trail kisses across your jaw, “You should really be thanking me. I just know Annie’s going to turn out to be bad news. I have a feeling.”
He laughs, “Is there anything else, baby?”
“Yes…” You pause, “I want an inground pool. You promised me one when we moved in and the plans keep getting pushed back. I want to go swimming.”
“I’ll get the plans drawn up tomorrow,” He sucks on your pulse point.
“And you have to buy me as many bikinis as I want, designer ones, and I don’t want to hear one peep out of you about the price.” You crane your neck to give him more access to continue his sweet assault on your skin.
“I’ll leave you with my credit card so you can order as many as you want.”
Roman moves from your neck to look down at you, his cocky persona flickering for a moment so you can see the sweet eyes of a lovesick boy hoping for forgiveness.
“Like I don’t already know the number,” You smile, letting him know that it had been granted.
He groaned, “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“I love you, too.” And you reached up to kiss him fiercely.
i hope you enjoyed! this was fun to write, i love writing a moody!reader lol. if you did enjoy, let me know with a comment or reblog (: ‘til next time, ily! *lets hope third times the charm and this ends up in the tags lol

christmas tree (roman godfrey x reader)
pairing: roman godfrey x reader
word count: 1,105
warnings: cursing, mentions/hints of childhood trauma/neglect, vague sexual innuendo at the end? (nothing too crazy)
request: “roman + christmas traditions” by anon :-)
a/n: i just wanna say thank you to anyone who enjoyed my last lil blurb with merkel, you’re all too sweet!! this one was originally meant to be more angsty, but i was listening to christmas music while writing it, and well… it’s hard to be angsty while listening to fun jazz. once again, please enjoy and any feedback or requests are not only appreciated but encouraged!!!
---------------------------------------------------------
“I still think this is stupid.”
You laugh at the umpteenth complaint of the hour from your boyfriend, Roman, as you continue to prick your fingers against the fake branches of the Christmas tree you two had set up in the living room. You’d been working at “fluffing” the tree the entire time while Roman sat on the couch, bitter and pouting like a toddler.
“I asked you if you’d prefer a real one and you said-”
“I’m not calling the fact that it’s fake stupid. I think the entire holiday is stupid,” Roman interrupts you as you finally give in and turn to face him.
“Didn’t you celebrate Christmas as a child?” you muse, walking over to him as he continues to avoid your gaze.
“Yes. That’s precisely the issue,” he fidgets as he says this, hands clasped uncomfortably in his lap, knuckles growing white.
You suddenly realize that Roman isn’t just complaining to annoy you like you’d been assuming. His shoulders are tense, even his jokes had been unlike him, flat and delivered in monotone.
“I know your mom isn’t the comforting type but…” you trail off, taking the seat beside him, “Did she really ruin Christmas for you?”
He doesn’t reply, grunting in return as his glare stays focused on the half done tree. The bottom half is spread out, and can almost pass for a real tree, but the top is still flattened from packaging. You watch Roman’s eyes travel upward, and his scowl only grows.
“She just had all these ridiculous traditions, that weren’t even truly about the family, just for show most of the time,” he hesitantly explains, turning his head and meeting your eyes finally, “I’m convinced everything that has to do with ‘celebrating’ Christmas is purely selfish.”
You smile sadly, shaking your head immediately, “No, no it doesn’t have to be, Rome. For your mom it might have been, but not for me,” you stand up, startling him in the slightest. He stares up at you, blank stare, as you reach out your hand, “Let me show you, yeah?”
You’re shocked when he actually does take your hand, standing up and yet still looking incredibly lost. It hadn’t gone over your head that him opening up like that was out of character, that it probably had been fairly hard for him. In all the years you’d known Roman, he hated speaking of his mother. Finding out what exactly had earned that hate from him had been like pulling teeth, constantly balancing between considering that that had just been who Roman Godfrey was, full of hate and all, and the possibility that his mother had been the one full of hate.
It hadn’t taken long to figure out it had been the latter.
Roman follows you over the tree, watching carefully as you mutter out a ‘watch me’, showing him how to unfold the branches. You repeat the action on a second branch, before motioning for him to try.
“You’re really trying to make me fall in love with a holiday through physical labor?” he complains, hands nonetheless making their way to another smushed branch and beginning to work on it.
“Hush,” you scold before making your way over to the stereo in the living room.
You turn it on to the holiday station, immediately hearing Roman groan across the room.
“Did I mention I hate the music? I hate that shit,” he calls out over his shoulder. You stay frozen in place, however, paying his complaint no mind as he continues to fluff the tree.
This was who Roman Godfrey was. Stubborn, grumpy, but especially malleable to those he loves. As he finished up the tree with ease, working at double the pace you had been, you can’t help but smile softly at him. His tongue pokes out between his lips in concentration as he reaches the tallest branches, stretching the slightest to guarantee their perfect.
You knew if he didn’t want to at least try for you, he wouldn’t have. He would still be on the couch, maybe even a beer in hand to quench his bitterness.
“Now what?” he questions, snapping you out of your daze as he turns to face you, backlit with a finished tree, barren and ready for decorations.
“Now,” you motion to a box on the floor you’d pulled from your garage, “for the fun part; we decorate.”
“Fun? That sounds like more physical labor.”
You roll your eyes, smiling widely and picking up the box of ornaments and garlands to place it on the couch to be more accessible, “Do we want gold or silver garland?”
Roman’s reply is immediate. “Gold. My mother always favored silver decorations so… definitely gold.”
“Gold it is,” you nod, pulling out the shiny and gouache garland from the box, handing it to him to start to place on the tree.
The two of you work quietly for a moment, allowing Christmas music and rustling of decorations fill the silence in the room instead. Roman only breaks it once you’ve started to put ornaments on the tree, looking particularly fondly at one from your childhood.
“Are there any other traditions your family did that you’d want to… You know, do, I guess?” he’s not as confident as he usually is, coming off a bit shy in a sincere way.
“Mostly all the sickeningly sweet family classics. Hot chocolate, movie marathons, those scented pinecones…” you pause to think of some more, but Roman interrupts you with sudden excitement.
“I wouldn’t mind those pinecones. The ones that smell like cinnamon or fucking whatever, right?”
You’re smiling wide enough that you can see Roman begin to fight his own grin, “Yeah, those.”
“I always wanted those. We should get some,” he mumbles, focused on looping a hook onto an ornament, the ghost of the smile still evident on his face.
“You know, we could always make our own traditions, too. They don’t all have to be passed down,” you say slyly, waiting until Roman looks back up at you, fully intrigued.
“Whaddya mean?”
“I mean, whipped cream isn’t just good on hot chocolate,” you play it off innocent, grabbing another shiny, red ball to hook on a branch, but Roman’s hand reaches out and grabs your wrist firmly to stop you in your tracks.
“Yeah? How would you know?” he’s got a devilish grin now, eyes trailing up and down your body before he licks his lips slowly.
“Wouldn’t you like to find out?” you tease, starting to pull away your wrist.
However, Roman’s grip only squeezes tighter as he pulls you against him, whispering, “That I would.”

Nadia had seemed happy that Bill and I had told her that she was going to be a big sister soon, You said.
Are you going to change Nadia's last name to Bill's before you two get married, Jimmy asked?
I had already let Bill adopted Nadia as his daughter. So her name is Nadia Penny Skarsgård, You said.
I have a question, Bill asked?
What is it, You said.
Is Nadia's middle name short for Pennywise, Bill asked with a smirk.
Yes it short for pennywise, You said.
Don't judge me. When I was pregnant with Nadia and I had always watched the old IT, You said.
The fans want to how Nadia acts around Bill, Jimmy asked?
Nadia is fantastic around Bill. She follows him everywhere and Bill gets down on the floor and plays with her. This one time. We had spent Christmas with his family and his brother Alexander want to hold her and stuff. Soon as Bill had handed Nadia over to his brother, She starts to cry and scream and Nadia wasn't happy at all. Alexander had panic and hands her back to Bill and She stops crying. Bill always has to talk in his pennywise voiced to her and Nadia will just smile and giggle at him the whole time, You said.
It sounds like Nadia has you wrapped around her little finger, Jimmy said.
She does have me wrapped around her little finger and I love it, Bill said.
Does she called you bill or something else, Jimmy said.
Nadia had called me Daddy one time. Y/n was shocked and was scared of how I would react to it, Bill said.
How did you react to it, Jimmy said .
I just smile, Bill said.
I'm over here scared out of my mind and I was thinking he is going to break up with me. I look over at Bill and he had a huge smile on his face, You said.
This was how Bill react to Nadia calling him Daddy for the first time .
That is the end of our show. Thank Bill Skarsgård and Y/n Bell for being here tonight, Jimmy said.

Open the Door
Prompt: please open the door
Fandom: Hemlock Grove
Character: Roman Godfrey
Word count: 2159
High school is supposed to be the best four years of a teenager’s life. So far; it’s a load of shit. Having a dad in the navy isn’t the easiest thing ever. In my 17 years of life, I’ve had the privilege of moving 6 times to different states. The longest place ever being Oregon, and my favourite. Only one more year until I can move out and be in my own place, living wherever I choose, for however long I choose.
2 years ago we moved to Pennsylvania, and it quickly felt like home. The aesthetic was perfect, the weather was perfect, and for once, I had friends I felt like I could trust. Moving place to place, I found it useless to make friends; keeping the ones I would meet online, never staying long enough to make friends in person. That’s not how Roman saw it however; I still genuinely don’t know if he wanted to keep me close to keep me quiet or if he wanted to be friends.
Whatever the case, we didn’t stay the same; I was quick to discover he was protective over those he gets close to. May be from losing people in the past or just how he was brought up and how he is with Shelly. After saving my life the first time, there was something between us that quickly sparked. Long story short, he’s been my first boyfriend and I would not change anything for the world.
-
School that day was going by as usual, Roman came to pick me up, we got coffee and were in the parking lot smoking before school started. “What’s on your mind?” He asked, pulling me from a trance, but I just shrugged – not wanting to get into it this early in the morning. “Y/N, I know when you’re lying” but once again I shrugged.
This was the longest my family has ever stayed in one place; we always moved around just to be closer to my father, and it was usually around this time of year that we got news whether or not he would be relocated. I couldn’t say goodbye to this place; Hemlock Grove quickly became my home, no matter how dreary things got or how intense my life would become. I wasn’t ready to give this up. My anxiety was quickly rising, but I didn’t want to bother him with my family issues.
Roman turned to me, his hand on my exposed thigh and looked in my eyes. He always managed to calm me down and get me to start talking but I don’t know if I could tell him this time, I didn’t want to get him in a mood before I knew if anything was happening. Looking anywhere but my boyfriend, I saw it was 8:30 and we had 5 minutes to get to class. “Look, I don’t know if anything is happening, maybe I’m just having a rough day. Anyway, we have five minutes,” and without looking back, I grabbed my stuff and rushed towards the door.
-
All day, I could feel Roman staring at me. I wanted to look at him, give him some peace of mind – but I knew if I do that, I would start crying. I feel like I can’t leave, this is the one place I have ever lived that made me feel lucky. I had friends, I had a boyfriend, hell, I was supposed to be graduating at the end of the semester – I feel like I can’t let that go, but I had no power whether we moved or not. I’m still a minor, and my mom is legally allowed to drag me everywhere with her.
During lunch I decided to take a walk, try to clear my head and be fresh for the afternoon. Numerous calls and texts from my friends almost prompted me to turn my phone off until I got the one text I have been dreading all day.
We need to talk when you get home
-mama
Tears immediately brimmed my eyes, I couldn’t do it. I can’t leave this place, I’ve built too many things, had too many memories for it to be taken way from me in just two years.
After little debate, I decided I was done with school. It felt as though my heart was slowly being torn in two. I hadn’t even gotten complete confirmation of what was happening or why she needed to talk to me, but it was like a yearly clock work. We are going to talk, she is going to break my heart and we are going to pack up to wherever is closer to dad’s new base.
Where are you? -Rome
Y/N, come on
-Rome
Class is starting, are you skipping?
-Rome
I wasn’t feeling well, decided to walk home
-Y/N
Bullshit
-Rome
☹
-Y/N
With that, I turned on do not disturb and enjoyed my quiet walk home.
-
Every house I walked by, every tree I saw would just make me more sad; knowing these would be the final times I would see these places. The walk way up the house already confirmed what my mom hasn’t told me; a real estate agent hammering a brand new ‘For Sale’ sign up in the front yard. Tears welled in my eyes, but I quickly shook them away – at this point, I should be used to it.
“Y/N? Is that you?” My mom yelled as the door slammed behind me, no point in trying to hide it – she had already heard my entrance. “Hi” I say, trying not to show the crack in my voice. “It’s only 1, don’t you have class this afternoon?” I shrugged my shoulders, really, I just wanted this conversation to end. “Y/N?” She asked again, but I just shook my head and made my way up to my room. Seeing the collapsed cardboard boxes resting over the door just made more tears well into my eyes. I knew there was no stopping this and I had to agree with what was going on; whether I liked it or not.
Roman
After a couple more texts and no answer from Y/N, I realized I wasn’t going to get anywhere. Glancing at the clock, I had 20 more minutes of class, but I was not in the mood to sit through it. Y/N made class a little more bearable to sit through, and I was losing my mind sitting here. She wasn’t answering, she had told me she wasn’t feeling well; but I had a hunch there was something else going on. “Mr. Godfrey, is there somewhere else you’d rather be?” The teacher asked after I ignored yet another question, so I looked at him. “Yeah, thanks for asking,” and with that, I grabbed my things and left; hearing protests, but not looking back.
I had one thing on my mind, and it wasn’t schoolwork.
-
Pulling up to Y/N’s house, I immediately found out why she had decided to skip the rest of the day; a large, bright ‘for sale’ sign was posted up in her front lawn. I felt my heart sink, she had told us about her father relocating every so often, but I didn’t think it would happen so soon after her moving here. I kept my eye on the sign, as if staring at it would make it disappear, but that’s not how the world works; it’s also not how being an Upir works, unfortunately.
Shrugging it off, I put my car in park and went to the front door. Looking up at her room, the blinds were drawn, and her windows were closed; she loves hearing and feeling the breeze, so I knew she was sad. My heart broke for her, and all I wanted to do was hold her and make sure she was feeling okay. “Roman! Haven’t seen you in a while” her mother greeted as she opened the door, I smiled gently and accepted her hug. “Sorry about that, things have been a little hectic lately. Uh, is Y/N here?” I asked. “She’s up in her room, I must tell you, she’s in a little bit of a mood,” with that, her mother was down the hallway; most likely going to keep packing.
Stalking up the stairs, I couldn’t help but get chills. Y/N was an emotional person, you can feel her emotions as soon as she steps foot into a room. Either being able to lighten it, and make everyone feel better or at ease, or bring down the room entirely. She is human but has no idea how truly powerful she is. At the top of the stairs, it felt as though a ghost had passed through my body. The entire floor was cold, freezing even, but as I looked around, all doors and windows were closed; the sun was shining outside, I knew this was entirely being brought on due to her mood.
Gingerly, I knocked on the door; not expecting an answer but expecting at least a sign of life. Besides hearing her little cries, it seemed as though the life had been sucked out of here. “Go away mom” she cried, making my heart break, she was clearly upset and it made me upset for her. “It’s me” I whispered, there was a moment of silence, before she turned on her bed – most likely shifting her back to door. “Go away” her voice cracked. Her voice was breaking, telling me she was trying not to cry, but it was no use. I gently tried pushing the door open, but it was no use – she had locked it. “Come on Y/N don’t do that. Please, open the door.”
However, there was no answer.
I knew she was hurting, but I had no idea what to do. “Please” I whispered, starting to feel defeat. Before meeting her, I would have never shown this much weakness to anyone, no matter how close I was with them. That was something about her though, she had so much power it was insane, she knew my strengths and she knew my weaknesses; and she was the main one.
Resting my forehead against the door, I wasn’t willing to give up. Y/N and I were both very stubborn people, she should know better than to assume I would have left.
I don’t know how much time had passed, but I had ended up sitting on the floor outside the door. I don’t care how long it would take, I would not be leaving until I was able to see her, and see how she was doing. I heard movement from her room, and suddenly weight on the other side of the door. “You still there?” She asked, I let out a little smile, turning my head. “I’m still here” I say.
Suddenly, the lock clicked. I knew she had unlocked the door, but I didn’t want to do anything she didn’t want me to. The door had opened, making me stumble and fall back into her body, her arms catching me slightly. “You know, you’re supposed to be in my place” I mumbled, putting a hand on her arm that was around my shoulders. “Let me have this, please” she said.
I did as asked, not daring to move. I could sense how she was feeling, and I didn’t want to do anything to disrupt her peace in this moment.
It was quite a long time before she finally spoke, her cheek pressed against the top of my hair, our hands interlaced. It was a peaceful moment, and if this is all I could give her in moments like this, I would do it ten times over. “We’re moving” she said, tightening her grip on my hand, and I nodded my head – not quite sure what to say to that. “I don’t want to say goodbye Roman; I don’t think I can” her voice cracked for what seemed like the millionth time today, and it shattered my heart. I hate how this girl can do so much, without doing anything at all.
I sighed, trying to think of anything to calm her. I turned in her arms, letting my head rest on her chest. Her heart beating millions of miles an hour, she was anxious out of her mind. “Calm down sweetheart, okay? We’ll do something, I’ll make sure you don’t have to leave” I promised. “How can you Roman? There’s nothing we can do, I have to move, I have to make new friends and start everything over again” she said, moving the hair from my forehead. I couldn’t help but to smile, she was so naïve it was a little cute. “Trust me, you won’t have to. I won’t let you leave,” her pupils dilated at my words. “I promise” I whispered, leaning up to capture her lips in mine.

Give You All You Need
Ivar The Boneless x Reader x Roman Godfrey (Modern AU)
(A/N): Hello there, lovelies,
This is a small thing that I have written for @walkxthexmoon, who has been having a few rough days lately and I hope that the comfort of our two big idiots might make you feel a bit better!
I am always here if you need everything, don’t you forget!
Have a lovely reading!
WARNINGS: Mention of Sadness, People Being Idiots.
Ivar looked at Roman who had been typing on his computer for quite some time, without truly looking at what he was writing, a situation that had been going on for an hour and didn’t seem to cease itself.
And it was making him pretty nervous.
But he didn’t want to blow up with either you or Roman, since you weren’t in the mood to tolerate one of his temper tantrums, and Roman didn’t have any fault.
So, he didn’t want to sink his own ally, when for once he hadn’t any truly involvement in your sadness.
He wished he could carry it on his shoulders, take it onto himself and turn it into pain, something that he could stand, something that he had learned to live with.
But he couldn’t.
And neither Roman could.
That was the reason behind his hasty gestures on the computer, and Ivar had to just wait till he finally realized that no amount of screaming and screeching virtually at his workers would have solved your situation.
Nothing could.
Except patience and love.
And although they had a lot of the latter, the former was certainly missing with your two hotheads.
So, they must learn it.
The hard way.
Although it was a constant torture.
And it was driving both your males mad.
Although they liked to pretend they were the ‘big bad wolves’, they weren’t able to deny you much, acting as soft rabbits near you, constantly taking care of you in the best way they could.
But right now, the best way was to let you take your time.
Although it was hard,
Because they felt this need to be with you.
Physically close.
But you hadn’t felt like being that close to them, and although they respected her, they missed you, physically and mentally.
The distance you had created for your own health, deteriorating theirs, as they saw that you still cried yourself to sleep.
And they felt this desperate desire, almost a primal need, to help you.
“… fuck” breathed out Roman, before he punched the table, surprising also Ivar who had been stalking attentively every move of his “… fucking sheet!”.
“Lower your tone” it was an order, but it missed its usual snarky characteristic.
Ivar’s tone was downright serious, and even Roman held back the growl in the back of his throat, knowing quite well that although you were distant worlds apart, you could still hear them.
“I just…” Roman put his hands in his hair, pulling on them, almost as if he wanted to rip them off, unable to unleash his violence on anything else than himself.
Ivar had even thought about a small sparing session, but both of them didn’t want to abandon the house and a fight with them in it wouldn’t have solely made much noise but it would have also probably broken some things they didn’t want to replace.
Because they gave you comfort.
And you needed it, in this moment.
“… wish we could do something for her?” Ivar’s face held a small smirk, sad enough to explain how much that thought had plagued his mind “… you have heard her. We can simply give her space and wait…”.
‘And hope’ he wanted to add, but that thing was something that solely you owned.
And that was something you could solely find for yourself.
“It is just…” Roman lowered his voice, scared you might hear him “… she is the one locked inside, but I feel like the beast in the cage”.
“Do you think that I don’t feel the exact same?” Ivar hadn’t meant to be that irritable, but he had his own emotions to deal with “… I know it is hard… I would give everything to simply have her back in my arms… but she doesn’t need that”.
“Maybe she does…” commented Roman, with a skeptic look at his lover “… she just doesn’t know how to ask us…”.
And then the door to your room slammed open and they both shut their mouths, settling themselves to almost clash against each other, as they tried to set themselves up in comfortable position, although they both ached to see you and feel you again.
And not even in a sexual way.
They saw you immediately appearing as a ghost, covered by your blanket, almost as if you were haunting your own grounds and they quickly waited expectantly, seeing your feet clatter on the ground towards the kitchen.
Eating being the only reason why you’d leave your room.
And they tried to avoid moving themselves, as Roman clutched tight his fists, meanwhile Ivar bit tightly his lips.
But this time… you didn’t straight up go to the kitchen, but you appeared in the dining room, where they were both standing, trying to appear like they hadn’t all their attention focused on you.
They also avoided to look at you, not wanting to overwhelm your mental state, but you quickly called out their attention to you, with a light mumble and both the men were surprised to find out you had showered and although your eyes were red you didn’t seem to have cried lately.
But this didn’t mean you had stopped suffering.
“… can we… can we have take-out, tonight?” it was a normal question, almost as if you had gone back to normal and Ivar was thankful when Roman nodded for him, before busying himself with the phone, as you stood still, in the middle of the floor.
Your hands tightened your grip on the blankets around your body, trembling lightly and Ivar tried to take a step forward, unsure of how to treat you, almost as if you were stuck in a limbo.
“… do you have any preference?” mumbled Roman, shifting his head to focus his attention on a few different papers of restaurants.
“Ahem… anything light… not Mexican definitely” it was a bad attempt to sarcasm, but it was still a small attempt at humor, something that definitely seemed more forced than natural.
But Ivar didn’t say anything about it.
He simply nodded, as he suggested something to Roman, a slight nod from you was all it took you, meanwhile Roman moved to search the suggested restaurant, moving to another room to call.
“Do you prefer to eat on the sofa or in the kitchen?” asked Ivar, also trying to busy himself, but your eyes suddenly were on him, so tight and attracting that he felt like he had just to come closer and before he knew it, himself… she was in front of him.
“… can you just hug me?” you asked, almost as if you didn’t expect him to do that, a tight half-smile on your face as he looked at you shocked, taken aback enough that you must have thought he was rejecting you, backing away with a mumble of apology, but…
… but he just tightened his body around you in a full-on body hug, feeling the tremble calm itself underneath him, as you breathed out in relief, and gently, your hands mapped out the body you had been denying yourself for so long, feeling again the taunt muscle of Ivar’s large torso, as the man tried to keep himself stable on his calibers.
“Oh, yeah… just start whatever you were doing without me…” commented loudly Roman, as he appeared on the threshold again, although he didn’t have any kind of grimace on his face and was looking at you both with attentive eyes, wondering what he should have done.
And then you held out your arm to him, welcoming him in the hug, in which he sprinted, hugging you even tighter, as he gently kissed your forehead.
And in that moment silent tears started again.
And they welcomed them softly, letting you take all the time you needed.
No matter what, they’d be there for you.
No matter how much it took.
“… we are here, sweet one” Roman muttered softly, as they gently loosened the hug to allow her to feel more comfortable “… and we know that you might need some time, but we are here for you, no matter what”.
You sobbed softly, but eventually looked up to them, both, before softly kissing the lips of both, as you thanked them wordlessly for their support, because you knew, that they indeed…
… were there for you.
No matter what.
And you loved them from the bottom of your heart for that.

midnight drive ~ roman godfrey
part one
word count: 1345
request?: no
description: you get to know the bad boy of hemlock grove on your midnight drive, and you come to learn that you should never judge a person by the rumors people spread about them
pairing: roman godfrey x female!reader
warnings: swearing
It was a beautifully warm night out. You were extremely grateful that Roman decided to leave the top down on his convertible car. The wind was a welcome feeling after how stuffy you felt at the party, even when you had been outside.
You turned to look at Roman. His eyes were focused on the road. You had a million questions running through your head, but all of them washed away when his bright blue eyes turned to look at you. Suddenly, it felt like the wind ceased and the breath was taken right from your lungs. Your heart was racing and you tried to look away but he had you captivated with those eyes.
“You should watch the road pretty boy,” you finally managed to say, earning you a smile from Roman. “So, where are we going exactly?”
“Don’t know,” Roman shrugged. “Just away from that party. I couldn’t stand to be there another minute, and I arrived literally right before I found you.”
“I thought you loved parties,” you said. “That’s what everyone at school says.”
“I’ve never even been to a single party anyone has thrown,” Roman responded. “I’ve been forced to go to Godfrey Industries related gatherings, and I love to drink and smoke weed every now and then, but I’ve never been to a stupid popular kid’s party, nor do I ever plan to go to another one. I only went to this one because everyone else was going. Good thing I did, too.”
You sighed and shuffled uncomfortably thinking about the unwanted memory. You looked down at your phone to see you had multiple messages from (Y/F/N). You had told her you were going on the drive with Roman and explained what had happened at the party with Mark and his asshole friends. She sent back a million messages, asking you if you were okay and where you were and “wtf THE Roman Godfrey?!” and “do you want me to kick their asses? I’ll gladly kick their asses”.
“We may need to double back to the party,” you said. “(Y/F/N) is ready to beat Mark’s ass, and she definitely could, she knows martial arts.”
“(Y/F/N)?” Roman asked. “That’s who you went to the party with?”
“Yeah,” you said. “Why?”
“Nothing I just...thought you were there with a date or something.”
You couldn’t help but scoff. “Me? With a date? It’d have to be an alien from another planet because nobody would date me, especially not in our school or our grade.”
Roman was silent. He didn’t look at you, instead focused on the road yet again. You sighed and rested your head on your hand and looked at everything passing you by. Despite the strangeness of the situation, you were grateful for this car ride. You didn't want to be at the party in the first place, you mainly went for the same reason that Roman had gone. Any opportunity to leave you were willing to take it.
The car started to slow down before it came to a stop. You looked out to see that Roman had parked at a high peak that looked out over Hemlock Grove.
“Wow,” you breathed. “This is beautiful.”
“It’s my favourite place to come and be alone,” Roman admitted. “I didn’t mean to come here, I guess I just did it without thinking.”
You climb out of Roman’s car and go to sit on the hood, getting a better view that isn’t obscured by the windshield. Roman got out to come join you, sitting beside you. You were so close that you were almost touching. Your heart raced and you tested Roman’s limits by closing what little space there was between you two, brushing your shoulder against his. If he had a problem with it, he didn’t say anything.
“I wonder what kind of bullshit Mark is spewing back at the party,” you find yourself saying. “Probably gonna tell everyone that you broke in mid-fuck and beat the shit out of him then took me away. He’ll probably call me a whore, tell all his jock buddies how easy I am. I’ll suddenly be everyone’s next conquest.”
“Why do you care so much?” Roman asked. “When you’re at school, you’re this I don’t care what anyone thinks, I don’t care about my reputation, I don’t care about popularity. But you’re here telling me about how no one wants to date you and you’re worried about what Mark will say about what happened back at the party.”
You look down at your hands and realize they’ve began to shake. You take a deep breath and admit, “I don’t care about what anyone thinks of me, but I do care if a bunch of hormonal teenage guys think that I’m easy and that they can get with me...especially after their ring leader tried to force himself on to me.”
Roman looked at you for a long time. He opened his mouth as if he were going to speak, but you quickly cut him off, not wanting to hear his pity.
“And as for the dating thing,” you continue, “I’m a fucking teenage girl, Roman! I’ve never been on a date, I’ve never had a boyfriend, I’m still a virgin. Fuck, I haven’t even been kissed! At some point I’d like to experience what it’s like to be in a relationship, you know?”
There was a long stretch of silence between you as you let the words linger in the air. It wasn’t something you had ever admitted before. You were more than happy with everyone thinking that you could give less of a shit about relationships and reputations and all that high school bullshit, but deep down inside you knew that one day you hoped to find someone who saw you as an actual person, not as just another loser.
Roman leaned towards you a little bit. You turned to look at him, confused, and as you did he took it as his opportunity to attach his lips to yours. You were stunned at first and raised a hand to push him away, but stopped for a moment to let yourself realize that Roman Godfrey himself was actually...kissing you. You suddenly understood why all the girls in school were so captivated by him. He was so handsome, nice enough when he wanted to be, and he was honestly an amazing kisser. Not that you had much to go by, but your head felt like it was spinning when he pulled away so you figured that was a good sign.
“There,” he said. “Now you’ve been kissed. The next course of action is to take you on your first date.”
“Hold on there,” you cut him off. “Roman Godfrey wants to go on a date? The biggest fuckboy in all of Hemlock Grove High? You realize that if we go on a date you’re not allowed to flirt with some other girl, right? You especially can’t go home with another girl.”
“I’m not as bad as everyone makes me seem, you know,” Roman told you. “I know this is going to be a big shocker, but I’ve never been in a relationship either, but I’ve always wanted something serious. I just stopped trying years ago when I found out most girls were only using me because of my name. But...you’re different. You’ve never tried to get with me, you’ve never even really shown an interest in me at all. It’s...kind of hot really.”
You felt your cheeks heat up as you looked down at your lap.
“So, what do you say? Wanna go on a date?” Roman asked. When you looked back up, he was looking at you expectantly. You could tell he meant this, it wasn’t just another ploy to try and get in your pants.
“Okay,” you said with a shrug, trying to seem casual about it. “Let’s try it.”
Roman chuckled. “Try to hold back your enthusiasm.”
You rolled your eyes, but on the inside, you were freaking out with excitement.

fuck you (roman godfrey x reader)
WARNINGS: 18+, angry sex, oral sex, extremely foul language, angst, toxic relationship, accidental creampie, reader should run
summary: being in a relationship with Roman Godfrey has its perks, but is he really telling the truth?
word count: 5,304
a/n: this is part 2 of long legs (link here), enjoy!! wrote this over a span of three hours because this idea has been stuck in my head lol
I didn’t take Roman for a liar until recently.
Because up until now, everything had been perfect these past few months; I’d spend every Saturday at his place, sleeping next to him, having breakfast with him, and then taking our routine stroll through Clifford Park just for the shits and giggles. I loved that more than anything in the world— At one point, I had to stand on the look-out for park patrols, holding my laugh while he etched our initials into the lamp we had stood beneath that night we became official.
Our time together had been incredible so far. He had taken me out on elaborate dinners, and then refused to let me get out of bed the next morning before twelve because of his new ‘closeness-rule’; “I’m not detaching from you until noon,”
And who was I to say no? Especially not when it felt this good.
Now that I had his undivided attention, was the centre of all his affection and his designated person to call at midnight, I felt like I was floating.
Up until last week.
Roman had showed up on my front door with his signature smirk to pick me up for dinner, dressed in his classic Armani suit, hair styled back. “Ready to go?”
I couldn’t help but smile, getting up on my tippy-toes to kiss his cheek— I was always so damn happy to see him. “Yeah, I just have to grab my shoes. Come in,”
A soft blush became apparent in Roman’s cheeks, stepping into my apartment as I disappeared back into my room. “The place is right around the corner, so don’t stress,”
“Yeah, I know!” I said from the other room, rummaging through my collection of shoes. “We could stay at my place tonight, actually, so we don’t have to grab a cab to yours! Thoughts?”
Roman hummed, leaning against the wall in the hallway. Something told me he wasn’t so into that idea.
I stopped in my tracks, grabbing a pair of shoes before I came back out. "... No?”
Roman ran his fingers through his hair, letting out a slight chuckle. “I don’t know, I just… I like my bed,”
I couldn’t help but feel confused, but I brushed it off— maybe this was just a Roman quirk I hadn’t seen yet? It was probably not that deep. Right? Shrugging, I put on my shoes, grabbing my keys and my purse on the dresser. “Alright...? Cab fare’s on you, then, because I lent the rest of my spare cash to a friend earlier—“
In a swift motion, Roman snaked his arm around my waist, pulling me flush against him as I yelped in surprise. He let out a warm chuckle at the look on my face, leaning down to capture my lips in a sweet kiss. “Either we get going now, or I eat you for dinner. I’m fucking starving,”
Giggling, I pulled him in for another kiss. “Fine. I’ll be dessert, then,”
Roman let out a satisfied sigh against my lips, excitement shimmering in his green eyes as he grabbed my hand, leading me out of the apartment.
However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something weird was going on. As he led me through the restaurant with a hand on my back, I realized this was the moment where the wheel in my head had started to turn. Even as we sat down to eat, the question of why he didn’t want to stay over at my place started gnawing at me.
I had all my things at my place— My makeup, my shampoo against frizz, my clothes. I always had to walk around with my stuff if I was planning to sleep over at Roman’s place, feeling a bit like a nomad because... he hadn’t given me a drawer at his place yet.
The mind-wheel continued to turn; why hadn’t he offered me a drawer? We had been official for months. For a man that was so damn adamant about being okay with a committed relationship, the more I thought about it, the more I started to see the cracks in the facade. Was he inadvertently telling me he didn't want to be in a commitment anymore?
Roman’s voice brought me back to reality; “What?”
Fuck. Had I been so swept up in my thoughts? “Pardon?”
“You’re not saying anything,” he said, putting his elbows on the table as he leaned forward. “What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”
This is where my guilt started gnawing at me as well. Why was I even thinking these thoughts about the sweetest boyfriend I had ever had? “Oh, nothing, just...” And suddenly, it dawned on me that there was one thing that would ease my mind about this issue; “Just wondering if you’d want to meet my friends soon. I’ve met some of yours, but you’ve never met any of mine.”
Roman’s eyes widened slightly— I wouldn’t have caught it if I wasn’t watching his reaction like a hawk. With a chuckle, he pulled away from the table, wrapping his long, slender fingers around the cutlery once more; “I’ve met your friends,”
“Only in passing,” I mumbled, reaching out for my glass of water. “I’d like them to know the man I’ve been talking about for months. And I think you’d like them.”
Roman nodded, turning rather quiet. Something about it made my pulse quicken.
“Okay,” he eventually said. “I’ll meet your girls.”
I let out a shaky breath of relief, sipping my water with a bright smile on my face. Maybe I was just overthinking this, as always? “What do you say about next week?”
。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚
And next week rolled along— today was the day. I had told my girls that Roman said yes to meeting them at our favourite bar downtown, and I was now checking my makeup in the elevator up to his penthouse. I couldn’t wait for them to finally get to know the man I was so crazy about, because honestly? I was dead tired of having to defend our relationship to them.
And I also didn’t like that it was starting to sound like they were right about him all along.
As the elevator doors opened and I knocked at the entrance, I held back a jump of excitement— I couldn’t wait. However, my excitement quickly died down when Roman opened the door, dressed in…
A white t-shirt and his pyjama pants?
At first, I let out a short chuckle, leaning up to give him a kiss. “Rome, get dressed! Silly man,” I made my way past him, putting away my stuff on the dresser nearby. “We’re supposed to meet my friends in, like, twenty minutes!”
The sigh Roman let out had my heart dropping in seconds. “Yeah, about that...” Something about the dead expression on his face gave me a hint about his next words; “Is it okay if we take a rain check? I don’t really feel like going anywhere tonight.”
My smile fell. “... Are you serious?”
Roman shrugged, reaching out to pull me into a hug, leaning his head on top of mine. “Well, they’re your friends, I think they’ll be fine if you just show up,"
I didn’t hug him back— I stood still, holding back the urge to push him off of me. “But... you didn't even have work today,”
“So?” Roman kissed the top of my head, stroking through my hair. Was he perhaps hoping that the affection would dull my disappointment? “It’s been a bit of a lazy day, sure. Everyone needs those. But don’t let me stop you from having fun with your friends, you should go!”
I put my hands on his shoulders, prying him off of me. It felt as though my heart had sunk all the way down into my heels. “You... said you’d meet them,”
Had this been any other instance, I wouldn’t have cared— I’d have told him to stay in, that it was okay, but it was really bothering me now. Maybe Roman hadn’t changed after all? Had I deluded myself into thinking he had just for the sake of being with him?
“I know, but we can take it another time. Right?” With a sigh, Roman reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. “Why are you getting so upset about this?”
No— this was it. I couldn’t take it anymore. “Are you really asking me that?”
Roman didn’t even look confused, just... annoyed. “Yeah?”
I had to put a lot of energy into not letting my lower lip give in to a quiver. Standing in front of the man I loved, feeling shut down and upset, I finally let it out; “Do you know I don’t even have a key to your place?”
Roman furrowed his brows, clearly not expecting those words out of my mouth. “What does that have to do with anything?—"
“The one time I left a toothbrush here, you returned it to me!” I balled my fists, hating that this was making me feel like a whiny child. “You don’t want to sleep over at my place, you don’t want to meet my friends, and the one time we ran into your mother, you introduced me as your friend!” Saying it out loud only made it more clear to me. This was not okay, nor was it normal.
Roman’s eye twitched— it was obvious that he didn’t like to be confronted about this head-on. He shook his head, looking further annoyed and uncomfortable as his gaze wandered around the room, refusing to meet mine.
“The only thing that has changed, is that you’re no longer fucking those women with the ridiculously long legs!” I said, feeling my tears press up on me.
This was it for Roman— he groaned, turning to me with a rather angry look on his face; “What the fuck is up with you and your hang-up on the long legs?—“
“Because, Roman, those women were beautiful!” I cried, unable to hold back the tears any longer. “And maybe you’d let them keep their toothbrushes here, because maybe it would be easier for you to embrace someone you think is on your level!”
Seeing the stunned expression on his face, I angrily wiped away the tear that had rolled down my cheek, grabbing my stuff. I reached for the door, taking one last jab before making my leave; “I should’ve left with Peter when I had the chance,”
It was in this moment that Roman put his hand on the door, slamming it shut with all his might. The bang echoed through the apartment, making me jump and look back at him with wide eyes of shock; the look on his face made my heart threaten to beat out of my chest.
Roman’s breath came out in short, ragged motions, chest heaving with anger. The way his eyes widened with fury had me worried, and his lips shut tightly into a line as his jaw clenched— I had to take a step back. I should’ve known better than to provoke a man like this.
“If you need a key to know that I’m crazy about you, then I might have to rethink what I’m doing here with you,” he said, his words coming out like a low growl. “Are you that fucking insecure?”
“You make me insecure!” I let in a big heave of air, flailing my arms around as I tried to find the right words.
“Yeah?” Roman snarked. “Well, if I’m so fucking horrible, maybe you should go back to Peter! Go ahead!”
Had I not been so terrified, I would’ve cried all over again. “Fuck you,”
Roman’s eye twitched once more— “Fuck you, too,”
“Fuck you!” I couldn’t help but grow more and more agitated; I had never been this hurt in my life. “Fuck you and your snoring!”
Roman’s lips parted in confusion, quickly retaliating; “Oh, yeah? Fuck you and your incessant need to be late to everything!”
“Am not!” This was starting to make my blood boil. “Fuck you and your stupid suits!”
Roman seemed to be feeling the same; “Fuck you and your heels!”
“Fuck you and your hair!”
Somehow, I felt like this fight was shifting into something else.
“Yeah? Well, fuck you and your short fuck-me dresses!” Roman took a step away from the door, nearing me with dangerous steps. “That’s just not appropriate to wear in my fucking office!”
It didn’t take long until this had turned into a screaming match. “Fine, I will wear nothing but baggy jeans and enormous sweaters, even during the summer! Would that make you happy, asshole?”
Roman groaned; “You’re such a fucking bitch, do you know that?” he yelled, nearly hovering above me. “Of course it wouldn’t, you know that’s not what I meant!”
“What the fuck do you want me to wear, then?!—“
A beat. “What about nothing?”
It didn’t take long for the both of us to understand what was happening, our eyes widening at the same time as it dawned upon us. It also didn’t take long until I flung myself around his neck, our lips meeting in a fiery, angry kiss. Roman lifted me up in no time, my legs wrapping around him.
“Fuck you,” I breathed in between kisses, feeling my heart beat against his as he carried me further into the apartment.
“Will do,” he said, reaching his bedroom in no time with his long steps. Roman laid me down on the bed, wasting no time crawling on top of me.
I was still unbelievably angry at him— but somehow, those emotions had turned into flashes of passion. Something told me that our relationship wouldn’t last at this rate, and it only made me more desperate for him. With tears in both our eyes, we somehow managed to get out of our clothes in between hungry kisses, not wanting to be apart even for just a second.
I let out a tiny sob as he kissed down my stomach, feeling my anger simmer in my chest, raging through me like a storm. Roman was so damn infuriating, but I couldn’t bring myself to let him go. I really, really didn’t want to let him go— was this how we would end?
My back arched off the bed and I let out a soft gasp as I felt him lick a wet stripe up my sex; somehow, the pleasure was starting to feel like a relief from the tornado of feelings ravaging my insides. Feeling his tongue trace tight circles around my clit was way too damn overwhelming at this moment, making me want to cry out in more ways than one. “Rome—“ I breathed, feeling another sob bubble up in my chest.
However, it quickly died out as he sucked down on my clit, lapping me up, making me feel like I was on the brink of pure ecstasy.
Roman knew how to dull down my brain. He knew, and he knew it very well. Right now, that was more of a blessing than a curse.
“Rome, come back here,” I breathed, reaching down to run my fingers through his soft hair. “I can’t— I want you close.”
Roman hummed, his wet lips never leaving me as he made his way back up my body with kisses along my stomach, my chest, my collarbones and my neck. “Thought you hated me,”
I looked up at him, meeting his hard gaze as his lips hovered inches above mine. “Not fully,” I whispered, reaching forward to touch his face. Sometimes, it was hard to believe someone so beautiful could be real. “Only a little.” My hands traced his brows, the curve of his nose, the hollow of his cheeks, touching him as though he was made of glass.
And something about my softness seemed to affect Roman— his green eyes rounded out, looking down at me with an unintelligible emotion I hadn’t seen in him before. Leaning back down, he kissed me once more, no longer able to hold back.
With his chest pressed against mine like this, I couldn’t help but feel soothed from the absolute agony coursing through my veins. I was so, so scared that this would be it, that this night would determine whether or not we stayed together or not— and right now, I put away all our differences, all our hiccups, everything that was damn right infuriating about him, because at the end of the day... I loved this man.
And I hated myself for it.
I let out a gasp as he entered me, giving in to a sigh of relief against his lips. Nothing could ever top this feeling, nothing and no one could ever make me feel this good, and I knew it.
“Fuck you,” Roman whispered against my lips, his breathing further challenged by the feeling of being engulfed by my wet heat in this moment, rolling his hips against mine. “Fuck you for driving me crazy like this.”
Feeling his cock deep inside of me like this was enough to make me submit, my fingers going into his hair as I let out a shaky moan. “Fuck you, too,” I wrapped my legs around him, wanting him closer, feeling my breath hitch in my throat as his thrusts soon enough grew more rough.
Roman reached down to grab my hips, making me meet the harshness of his thrusts. It was clear that he wasn’t in the mood for being gentle— he wanted to take his anger out on me, and I was going to let him, whether I wanted to or not.
A deeper, darker part of me loved this. Loved this feeling of having no control, knowing I had no say in what he was doing whatsoever. I could only tighten my fist in his hair, holding on as he continuously thrust his cock deep into me, letting out a string of breathy curses and moans.
I could feel my legs getting sore as Roman suddenly said something that made my heart stop; “I love you,” he breathed, his grip on my hips tightening. “Stay with me.”
What? What was going on? I let out a cry, letting my body go limp to take his thrusts. My eyes widened as I realized that in this moment, I suddenly had power over our relationship, probably for the first time ever. I could decide whether or not I wanted to stay— he was begging me.
However, it was incredibly hard to make such an important decision when my legs were trembling and my whole lower body was in a state of the highest euphoric feeling on earth. “Liar,” I eventually said, my anger flaring up again at the memory of the events this past month. “You don’t love me, Rome... A-Aah—“
Angered, Roman pulled out of me without warning, flipping me over on my stomach. He grabbed a fistful of my hair, making me wince, as he used his other hand to prop me up to make it easier for him to enter me again. I let out another cry of both pleasure and anger, grabbing at the bedding beneath me as he spoke; “It’s you... For me, it’s only you... Shit,”
Roman let go of my hair, allowing my body to go limp beneath him. With the little power I had left, I instinctually moved my hips to meet his thrusts, wanting more.
This was possibly the biggest mind-fuck I had ever been through, my brain shutting down as I felt his dick slide in and out of me continuously. My tears continued to press up on my eyes as I felt my orgasm building. “I loved you,” I breathed, feeling his hot, laboured breath against my shoulder and his hair brushing up against the crook of my neck. “I loved you, so, so much…”
It dawned on me that I really, truly did. I had loved him, but I couldn’t love him anymore.
As Roman grabbed my hips, somehow shifting the angle of his thrusts, I let out a cry as he brushed up against my sweet spot— this was enough to drive me over the edge, coming harder than I probably ever had before. I muffled my string of moans against the bedding beneath me, feeling a tear roll down my cheek, completely spent and overwhelmed.
It didn’t take long before Roman came as well, the harshness of his thrusts coming to a halt as he spilled into me. My eyes widened at the feeling— we’d been so swept up in the moment that we forgot about the condom. Fuck.
I heard Roman’s breath hitch as he pulled out of me, taking in the sight of his cum slowly leaking out of me.
It made me shudder— crap. I rolled over on my back, feeling how much my thighs and hips ached. It was a strange feeling, accompanying the satisfaction of post-coital rapture. I also couldn't piece together whether I liked the feeling of his cum seeping out of me or not. Had the relationship not been in this state, I probably would've found it rather... hot.
I watched Roman’s chest raise up and sink, his green eyes meeting mine. None of us knew what to say, the sound of our panting filling the room.
As everything started to dawn on me, I wiped away my remaining tears, sitting up in the bed despite knowing the cum might stain his sheets. Fuck the sheets. “I should go,” I mumbled, not meeting his eyes anymore. “My friends are probably waiting...”
With a sigh, Roman shifted on the bed, laying down next to me. His fingers reached for my arm, hoping to pull me back down and into his embrace. “Stay,”
I looked back at him, unsure what to feel. I couldn’t believe what I was about to say; “No,”
Roman’s expression remained unchanged, possibly expecting that answer. “I’ll go with you, then,”
“No,” I got up, looking for my clothes that had been scattered somewhere on the floor. “I need to go the pharmacy, get a plan B, and then meet my friends. I don’t have time for you anymore.”
That was definitely something he hadn’t expected. Roman sat up, lips parted in confusion as he watched me get dressed; “What is that supposed to mean?”
I felt my lower lip tremble as I got hit with a newfound sense of clarity. “I’m not getting what I want in this relationship. This isn’t good for me. So until you get your priorities straight, I’m leaving you,” As I finished getting dressed, I turned to him. “Thanks for this, Rome... Have a good night.”
Leaving the bedroom with tears in my eyes, I did my best to hold back yet another sob. I quickly put my shoes on, not wanting to waste another second in his ridiculously big penthouse. I wiped away the mascara stains on my cheeks in the hallway mirror when Roman appeared, back in his clothes.
“Just... Let’s talk about this, okay? Let’s not make a rash decision,” he said, nearing me. “We can make this work. Give it some time.”
It was hard to look at him right now, especially when he looked this sexed-up. I didn’t even want to answer him, making my way to the door.
“Come on!” Roman was starting to sound more desperate, reaching out for my wrist. “This can work!—“
I turned around, my gaze hardening. It was so damn hard to resist him, and I needed to get my decision confirmed. “Say it again,” I said, knowing what would ensue.
Confused, Roman’s brows furrowed; “This can work...?”
“No,” This was it. This was the moment. “Tell me you love me, now that we’re not in bed. Mean it.”
Roman froze, and it was clear that his mind was working overtime. I held my breath, hoping that I would be proven wrong, that this was something we could overcome. However, with a shaky breath, Roman let go of my wrist, taking a step back. He lowered his head in newfound shame, giving me a silent approval to leave.
Sighing, I felt as though my heart had broken into a thousand tiny pieces. How was it possible that I had let him disappoint me over and over? “Thought so,” I took one last look at him, feeling a sob build in my throat. “Bye, Roman.”

It had been a week since I had seen Roman, and it had been a week of pure agony. I hadn't stopped crying, having to take a week off of work, buying takeaway dinners every day because I didn't have the energy to get out of bed most of the time.
Agony. Pure agony.
Quite frankly, it made me feel ridiculous. I couldn't believe that I had let myself fall apart because of a man. But this wasn't an ordinary man— This was Roman. The previous-love-of-my-life Roman. Man-of-my-dreams Roman. How could I expect myself to be okay after a breakup like that?
Waking up on Saturday was even worse. The day I would usually have to follow his ridiculously cute 'closeness-rule'. The day we would take our stroll in the park.
However, a small voice in my head asked me; why can't you just do that yourself? And that was exactly how I ended up back in Clifford Park under that same lamp as usual. A small part of me hoped he would show up, but another part of me went into a tiny panic over that thought.
I stretched out my hand to let my fingers run over the cold metal where Roman had etched in our initials. In truth, I had found it quite stupid when he had suggested to do it— it was something kids did, teenagers, not grown adults? However, in this moment, I couldn't help but realize how romantic it was. That we were eternally etched onto something, a tiny memory of us and what we used to be.
The lamp was starting to feel like a tombstone for a beloved, and I wiped away the tear that rolled down my cheek, not necessarily loving the thought of crying in public. Forcing myself to leave, I lowered my head as I passed by a man with a rather familiar scent, trying not to think too much about it. But my curiosity got the best of me— I turned around, watching the man in the familiar coat turn back around. Had he looked at me too? Was that who I thought it was?
I immediately sped up. I shouldn't be here.
。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚
Another week had almost passed, and I was starting to feel better. I had found out that the ache in my heart could easily be subsided by a glass of wine or a day out with my friends, but nothing could fill the hole Roman had left in my soul.
However, I had hoped that I would feel better about the whole ordeal at this point. Who needed a man that couldn't commit? Definitely not me.
... Definitely not.
It was a Friday now, and I had just gotten off of work. I was getting ready to leave for drinks with my friends once more, seeing as that was the best remedy. And when I heard a knock at my door, I opened it without a second thought— it was probably one of my girlfriends asking to borrow a pair of shoes, as always.
Meaning, when I saw who it was, I completely froze as my lips parted in shock.
There he was; Roman let out a shaky breath as he met my gaze. His hair wasn't styled, lying in soft waves over his forehead, and he had ditched his usual suits for a casual, formal look. Typical Roman— he couldn't even show up looking like a normal human being. Ever.
However, I wasn't about to complain. I held my breath, unsure what to say or do.
And suddenly, he spoke up; “Did you know I failed math class?”
I couldn’t help but let my jaw fall, giving him a look. "... What?” Is this really what he chose to say right now? It was definitely not what I had expected.
Roman shrugged, not meeting my gaze anymore. “I had to redo it over and over again, probably up to three times,” he mumbled, putting his hands into his pockets. "When it comes to important things, I usually fuck it up. Majorly. And it seems to apply with... this as well."
My knuckles were turning white by the sheer force I was holding onto the door. It felt as though I couldn't breathe, turning to stone.
"I'm also bad at sharing," Roman continued, looking up from the floor. "Really bad. And I'm sort of legally not allowed to give out spare keys to anyone, because of security reasons my company has put in place. So I'm sorry that it didn't cross my mind. But, wait, hold on—" He pulled one hand out of his pockets, reaching out his palm to me.
And there it was. A key. With a shaky hand, I took it into mine, trying not to pay too much attention to the feeling of his hand against mine after so much time apart.
Roman let out a relieved sigh, nodding to himself. "The thing about the toothbrush... Fuck, I've been thinking about it endlessly, and I see how it looks now. I genuinely thought you'd probably want it back, it didn't even hit me that you might've wanted a toothbrush at my place, and I have nothing against that. It's... cute, actually,"
I let go of the door with my other hand, putting the keys into my front pocket. I did my best to steady my breathing; I hadn't been this overwhelmed in a while. "Roman, I didn't expect you here—"
"—And the thing about my mother," Roman was practically rambling on at this point. Was he nervous? "She's insane. I don't introduce her to anyone, actually. If she found out we were dating, she'd probably put you through hell and back to see if you'd be the right fit for the 'future of the company', as she says. I wanted to spare you. So, again, sorry. Should've cleared that up."
Another shaky breath escaped me, not knowing what to say.
Roman nodded to himself, glancing around the hallway to check that we were still alone. "And... I freaked out about meeting your friends. I have an inkling that they hate me, which they sort of have all the right to do,"
"Oh, Roman," I took a step forward, mostly out of pure habit. I had to stop myself from reaching up to his face and stroke through his hair. "Why didn't you just... tell me?"
Roman shrugged, looking rather embarrassed. "You didn't tell me that it bothered you,"
I sighed— he was right. "I'm getting a deja vu. I thought we were supposed to better at communicating, now,"
"I know," Without being invited in, Roman stepped into my apartment, checking it out. It was so typical of him to assume that he would be welcome despite our fight, but I couldn't help but find it sort of... attractive. Arrogant man. I closed the door behind us as I watched him, crossing my arms over my chest. It looked like he wasn't planning on leaving any time soon, sticking out his hand to bump the lamp on my ceiling as though he was bored; "Did I ever tell you I love this place?"
Grimacing, I rolled my eyes. The time he didn't want to stay over at my place was still lingering in the back of my mind. "As if,"
"No, I do," He turned to me, a tiny hint of his signature smirk appearing on his lips. "It's just that your bed is ridiculously tiny. Did you ever notice that I'm longer than your bed?"
I scoured my brain for that information, flustered. How was it possible for someone to be so charming? Giving up, I shook my head and admitted defeat. I wasn't going to win this mental battle against myself, and I knew it. I wanted him here, whether I admitted to it or not.
Allowing his smirk to grow, Roman's green eyes shimmered with hope. "It seems this will take a while.... Looks like I might have to spend the night,"
I bit back a smile— bastard.

Kings Masterlist
Kings Part Sixteen:
“You’re leaving?” Camille asked Rebkah as she left your room. You’d slept for hours and Rebekah hadn’t dare leave. It was almost two in the morning but you’d insisted that if she told Marcel you were coming to his party she would take her advice and have some very safe fun. Or as safe as fun could get when you were drinking with the self proclaimed king of New Orleans and his merry band of vampires.
“She’ll be alright. I’m going to have a chat with Nik.” She explained and Camille nodded, sighing when she walked her to the door.
“You need to get him to see what’s really going on. (Y/N) is a possession to Roman. You’ve lived long enough to know the Godfrey family. They’re making war plans and Hemlock Grove is already suffering for it. The witches have been taken in.” She explained and Rebekah nodded.
“When the heads of different vampire families fight, it is rarely those who suffer. There is no one more in the world that (Y/N) cares about than Klaus. We are at war, Elijah’s ceasefire was enough for Olivia because we took everything she had. Her son, has nothing to lose and the thing we think he regards most in the world, despises him.” She was firm when she spoke.
It was a warning, weighed heavy with sorrow still branded on her heart from the last time they crossed the Godfreys. When they were younger and less experienced.
“Well I have to get to work and Marcel has a few humans compelled to let (Y/N) in all around the Quarter. At least for tonight we might not have to worry.” Camille said with a halfhearted smile.
“Have you witches take care, I love my family and that girl in the er. I do not enjoy having to fight old friends.” Rebekah said before leaving. When Camille stepped out into the apartment hallway Rebekah was gone. In her wake she left a craving for the moments of peace the city had. Perhaps Rebekah did too.

“Ah, how lovely of my terterous sister to return.” Klaus seethed as he sat in a darkened room glaring into a fire that crackled softly, Elijah stood guard at the door and judging by the state of the house, it hadn’t been an easy task to subdue him.
“I am the traitor? You know if you had listened to what happened tonight we would have been well on our way to finding a solution instead of playing out your paranoid fantasies.” Rebekah snapped, fed up with Klaus and his drama.
In an instant he was in front of her, his fangs bared but she slammed him back. Elijah watched carefully, ready to intervene as they fought. “She went to confront him, try and convince him to leave. He is infuriating and how she managed to stand him even as a love sick teen is beyond me. All those years of hating him, falling out of love, trying to escape him all the while trapped in the same town. That poor girl finally had it and let it all out. What are you telling her Klaus? That it’s better to keep it all bottled up, become bitter and angry like you?” Rebekah said angrily.
“I love her. I just want her to love me.” With an infuriated snarl Rebekah slammed Klaus against the wall.
“I love her too Nik and if you lose the city over a spoilt child like Roman Godfrey then you are not worth this city… you’re not worth (Y/N).” She sighed and gently placed a hand on Klaus’ arm. “Let us help you brother, you don’t want him dead because she loved him and you’re afraid of that but she loves you more than anything in the world and pushing her away only pushes her closer to him.”
“And what if i’ve pushed her to far already?” Klaus mutered, his eyes watering as he slowly let his argument with you sink in.
“She has yet to try and kill you, it’s a start.” Rebekah smiled when Klaus chuckled, telling her he was going to find you.
**********************************************************
Marcel had assured you that Josh would stay with you. He also promised to provide you a seating area where you wouldn’t be bothered. What he had provided was little short of a throne on a stage for you.
While sipping on drinks Josh provided, you watched the throbbing throng of people enjoying their lives. Some distracting themselves from sadness, bitterness and eternal misery. Some thinking about how fantastic it was to discover that their holiday to New Orleans would be filled with hungry vampires.
Peter shuffled uncomfortably through the crowd. You’d asked him to meet you after both he and Josh agreed that anything kicking off, Josh would carry Peter off. While he grumbled about werewolf powers Josh was more than happy to be helpful. He rather liked the bayou wolves though with the tensions between them and Marcel he wouldn’t admit why.
“Um… (Y/N)!” Josh hissed. Taking a sip from whisky Marcel had assure you was almost as old as him, you glanced at the way Josh was looking.
“Right on queue.” You said, glancing to Marcel who nodded, turning his attention to Roman.
“You really want Marcel to threaten him with all of us?” Josh asked as he gestured around.
“Klaus wont help me get rid of him. Then we’ll have to do it.” You said firmly. If you’d known Klaus was looking for you, you might have changed your plans. But Marcel had already pushed the cogs into motion and there was no going back.

Bill Skarsgård is on his feet, furiously pumping his arms back and forth. Standing 6-foot-4, he could cover a lot of ground if he wanted to, but he’s channeling a specific 5-year-old at play here.
We are talking about picking up other people’s physicalities and incorporating bits and pieces of them into his characters when he shoots up to demonstrate his bag of tricks. Standing in the open space of an Upper West Side home’s library, he brings his shoulders up to his ears, keeping the energy in his top half akin to a runner sprinting to his finish line, while from the waist down he appears more as a slow loris than Sonic the Hedgehog.
“That’s my little brother [Ossian],” Skarsgård says with a laugh, explaining the movement’s inspiration. “He’s 10 now, but when he was 4 or 5, he had a really funny way of running. You ever see kids do this? It’s the funniest thing ever.” Funny, sure, but when done by someone of the actor’s stature, slightly bewildering and creepy. “If you look at Pennywise,” he says, “Pennywise does this.”
Skarsgård is, of course, referring to his biggest role to date: Stephen King’s clown creation at the center of the “It” film franchise. As the evil entity known for eating children alive, Skarsgård has taken Pennywise the Dancing Clown—first imagined in King’s 1986 behemoth novel before being brought to the screen by Tim Curry in a campy 1990 miniseries—and morphed him into a truly terrifying being who brings into vivid clarity just how scary circus attire can be.
In case you somehow missed it, “It” premiered in 2017 and quickly became a pop culture phenomenon, grossing $700 million worldwide and breaking the record for the highest-grossing horror film of all time. It inspired Halloween costumes, “Saturday Night Live” spoofs, and a whole new generation of genre fans who will never look at red balloons the same way again.
Skarsgård and his cast—which includes kid co-stars Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”), Jaeden Martell (“Masters of Sex”), Sophia Lillis (“Sharp Objects”), and a standout Jack Dylan Grazer (“Shazam!”), plus their adult counterparts Bill Hader, James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, and James Ransone, respectively—are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle once more this September with “It Chapter Two.” Picking up 27 years after the first film and Pennywise’s apparent—but temporary—defeat at the hands of the Losers Club, the film is another chance for Skarsgård to showcase the impressive physicality and personality he brought to Round 1.
Just minutes into a conversation with the actor—and after that performance of a 5-year-old running—it’s clear his calculated character work is thanks to a keen sense of observation. Take the Swede’s analysis of Scandinavian cities, for instance: His hometown of Stockholm is not as laid-back as Copenhagen, which by comparison feels more European. Having been raised in Sweden to a family of acting royalty—Stellan Skarsgård (an Emmy nominee this year for “Chernobyl”) is his father and Alexander Skarsgård (Emmy winner for “Big Little Lies”) is his brother—he recalls his people as more serious, the type to follow rules and structure.
His observations let him steal tangible details and tics from strangers, friends, family, and cultures, pulling them into the people (and, in the case of “It,” evil entities) he plays.
“Sometimes I even do it subconsciously, where I do something in a scene and I’m like, Wait a minute, that’s the guy from the subway. I saw this guy and I thought he was weird. Now I just did it in a scene,” he says, getting excited. “I fucking love when it happens so much because it’s literally happening in the moment.”
He’s not Method in his acting, but Skarsgård’s approach certainly feels all-encompassing. He has the capacity to go so deep that he makes it a point to draw clear boundaries for himself; during the audition process, he consciously avoids getting too attached to the role, limiting his prep work to memorizing the sides and making a strong, well-thought-out choice about the character he’s playing.
“You can prepare as much as you want—prepare in terms of the scene or think about the character, but the research I put into a role is emotional, especially if I have a book to read about it,” he says. “The ‘It’ book is a really particular one, but usually, [if] you read about the character, delving much deeper into who [they are], you start getting emotionally attached. You can get emotionally attached to a character without doing much research at all. It’s just shitty when you don’t book it... For me, when I book it is when I let myself go [and] really feel safe to emotionally give so much of myself to it.”
His wariness is understandable when you look at his résumé. Life for any actor naturally ebbs and flows between bookings and rejections, but that’s amplified for an actor like Skarsgård, who has built a career on playing brooding types often living in dire circumstances. His breakout role stateside was as vampire Roman Godfrey on Netflix’s “Hemlock Grove” before going on to play a character in the third installment of the post-apocalyptic “Divergent” series and then a mysterious inmate who’s been theorized to be the actual devil in another Stephen King-inspired screen project, “Castle Rock.” It’s not exactly light fare, and diving into those psyches unnecessarily could become detrimental.
“I like living by [the motto] ‘It is what it is’; you adapt and you’re spontaneous and you change things,” Skarsgård says when asked if he adheres to any specific technique to capture the characters he plays. “My life is not very structured or organized to begin with, and that obviously bleeds into the work that I do.”
It’s the spontaneity of his choices onscreen, too, that makes the 29-year-old so fun to watch, particularly as Pennywise. Two of his contributions to the final incarnation of Pennywise’s appearance include the cartoonishly pointed bottom lip—a thing Skarsgård can really do with his mouth, something he says he’s never seen anyone other than his family members do—and Pennywise’s walleyed stare, in which one of his pupils wanders off to the side while the other stays firmly focused on you.
Physically, the role is demanding, requiring him to yell, shake, and contort his face in ways that leave him exhausted; that’s not to mention the hours spent sitting in hair and makeup. “You have glue all over your face; there’s paint. Your hair is up in [a skullcap]—it’s itching. There’s, like, a foam head on top of it.” To put it mildly, “It” and its sequel are unlike any of Skarsgård’s other acting experiences. For myriad reasons, it lacked the give and take of more traditional projects. He had to be at “150 percent intensity” whenever the camera was on him. “A lot of the stuff I do sometimes is literally like”—he makes a gurgling sound like a chainsaw underwater. “It’s like one big jump scare, charging the camera screaming and shaking my head violently. There’s never a scene where you’re just chilling.”
The final product is an amalgamation of script work, Skarsgård’s own imagination, and King’s classic novel, which he leaned on more than usual since the script, told from the perspective of the film’s child leads, necessarily left out Pennywise’s perspective. He also used YouTube to watch videos of mimes, hyenas, baboons, and monkeys, using elements from each to piece together the way Pennywise moves through space.
With all the information he’s gathered from his prep process at his fingertips, the on-set experience becomes about playing to the truth of the scene and the “essence of what the character is at that point.”
“You completely intellectualize the character,” he explains about the early stages of figuring out the person he’s playing. “Who is this guy psychologically? Why is he acting this way? What is his relationship with the world and the people closest to him? The way I do it is objectively going out and studying him separately from me. Observing him, judging him, understanding him, and sympathizing with him.”
He admits to developing a fondness for Pennywise, who refused to vacate his mental premises even after the film wrapped. “You go with a character and you think about that character obsessively for a very long time, and then overnight there’s nothing left to think about,” he says. The uncoupling manifested itself in his dreams, where he sometimes was Pennywise and sometimes was talking to Pennywise, upset that he was somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be. “And then I wake up and I’m like, that was kind of sweet.” It’s the kind of affection only an actor who has lovingly pieced together a character over four years can have for something so objectively sinister.
But no matter the role—or its wickedness—we relish the moment Skarsgård stands up to show us what he’s found today.

𝖉 𝖎 𝖘 𝖘 𝖊 𝖗 𝖙 𝖆 𝖙 𝖎 𝖔 𝖓
* born to a hamptons housewife and the ceo of a major sports marketing firm , the dark haired devil had a rather unremarkable upbringing . entitled as expected , manipulative and cunning , caine knew what people wanted to hear and was sure to tell them in his honeyed lilt if it were in his favor for later exploitation . average in school and below average in looks for most of his life , there was a definite cruelty doled out to him throughout his experience in the most prestigious private schools daddy’s money could afford ( not that his less than welcoming personality made things any easier on himself . ) it was his transition into sports , particularly baseball , that pulled him into the direction of finally accomplishing something other than winning asshole of the year defacements under his yearbook picture . with that , caine found that his hostility didn’t have to be negated , but rather selective — if the male could pick and choose his battles , he’d find himself much further along in his desires than through brute force alone .
and so , with precision focus and the bratton determination that becomes indicative of his brand , he rebuilds . high school finds their star fieldsman as a freshman with a newly regained understanding of how to schmooze people , dripping magnetism through well timed smiles or pretentious humble brags . as if taken over by a well-trained debutante overnight , caine found himself with a newfound power over those around him and a faked charm that propelled him to new hights , and with a level of athletic talent to his name that nobody could doubt , he was easily gaining ground and recognition throughout his hometown of manhattan . with puberty catapulting him through his senior year , caine bratton’s photo-ready grin and laser focus on his goals at hand made him something of a pseudo-celebrity , the first taste of recognition that he quickly becomes addicted to . colleges fight tooth and nail to offer manhattan’s pretty boy slugger an offer he cant refuse , eventually sending caine off to duke university to become one of the top ranked college baseball players in the nation . practically feeding off the chaos of his newfound lifestyle , he thrives at the party school and cements his name into nearly every east coast household — building a following of both sports fans and general thirst follows alike .
obsessed with his father’s opinion , caine heeds his word with furthering his brand and takes on carefully selected sponsors , always ensuring they’re for modeling gigs that won’t jeopardize his student athlete contract . he graduates early ( thanks to a particularly notable set of “ tutors “ his dad hired ) with a business degree and as first pick for the MLB draft that following june . after a stellar year pushing the minnesota twins out of the bottom of their league rankings , caine gets signed to the boston red sox with one of the most expensive fieldsman contracts in history . modeling gigs and sponsorships flood the 20 year old with a force even he couldn’t have expected , fueling the narcissism years in the making . he’s well liked by the media— a man’s man , charming , arrogant but within reason , knowing the exact line to drop for the exact reaction he wants . caine spends the next two seasons with the world exactly where he wants them , manipulating his way into and our of every situation his heart could desire .
one thing he can’t control is a devastating complete tear of his rotator cuff during a particularly high pressure world series game , one that completely shatters his chances of finishing the season and just about decimates the rest of his career . the surgeries are GRUELING and the rehabilitation is even worse , leaving caine with far too much free time on his hands and increasingly nasty cracks his perfect pretty boy facade . a bittersweet highlight of the year , conflicting for a multitude of reasons , is the revelation from an on-and-off fling of his that caine is to become a father , sending much of the world ( including himself ) into a shock . expectant on the arrival of his daughter , left without a clear career trajectory , caine finds himself spiraling into what becomes his black hole , ultimately culminating in him beating the shit out of some random drunk guy on the street trying to get a rise out of him and landing him with a civil case . while the charges were ultimately dropped , the former golden boy was undoubtedly in shreds , attracting all the wrong attention , chasing destruction wherever it offered itself — and thus , piquing the interest of one papa legba .
caine’s predisposition for destruction and chaos , satanic in the closest sense of the word with a perfect photo-op smile , made him a champion for the causes papa legba piloted . the demon king found itself with a harbinger of sorts , a machiavelli-reincarnate who was beginning to attract the worst of the celebrity sphere into his circle . it wasn’t difficult to recruit caine into his unsavory doings , repairing his shoulder with a ‘ groundbreaking new muscle regeneration therapy , ‘ but rather than allow him to rest on his laurels in the mlb , he offers caine a proposition . ‘ why set your sights on the horizon , when the whole damn world could be yours ? ‘ and with that , his new cherub kaia toted in the crook of his former bad arm , supreme drops after months of hype and launches caine bratton from baseball tragedy to fashion empire mogul . ever leaning into his newfound infamy due to his increasingly volatile outbursts , his brand is building speed at unfathomable rates , with his brain at the helm and papa legba’s influence behind it , and caine is relishing in the new world he’s creating for himself — regardless of the price .
𝖉 𝖎 𝖘 𝖘 𝖊 𝖈 𝖙 𝖎 𝖔 𝖓
icb u made it this far and if u did so without skimming ? u a real one 😩✊🏽 sksksk so real TALK , caine is the literal worst so pls dont hesitate to make him the villain in any plot u so desire . he’s intelligent but not to an excess , but is incredibly business savvy , knowing an opportunity when he sees one and fucking POUNCING on it . this plays off his INCREDIBLE fucking manipulation skills , the man will see an in and exploit it to no end in a way thats ? equal parts terrifying and lowkey impressive ? side note he takes everything seriously , esp himself and his daughter , and isn’t abt to let any idiot drive his empire into the ground . the man is genuinely convinced he can take over the world at this point , w papa legba fueling his lil psycho ass , and is gonna probably stop at nothing until he’s reached his peak . he’s destructive and has absolutely caused a fourth his staff to quit with his office meltdowns where he goes the FUCK off but ppl can’t say he doesn’t have an incredible vision and a cutthroat determination to accomplish it . he’s in that weird sweet spot where he’s obnoxious and arrogant as shit bc he knows he’s a big ole successful pretty boy that ppl want to please but he also has that classic ‘ i grew up rich ‘ disposition that means he knows when to fake it ? ( on that note , he’d make a PHENOMENAL fake bf 👀 for the clout ) also an awful boyfriend , has prob cheated on every person he’s ever dated and def cheated on his baby mama but makes it a point to be an incredible dad to his kid bc she’s the only tie to his humanity / soft side he really lets influence him . his defining features are his absolute narcissism and volatile desire to be the absolute best at what he does , as well as a laser focus that doubles as one of his greatest points of admiration . he’s ABSOLUTELY a tool but to his credit he can be deeply intimidating , i imagine he’s one of those guys with just incredibly strong eye contact to the point it freaks ppl out and that reaction always makes him LAUGH .
hc’s : ultimate peak caine look is a supreme t shirt under a black leather jacket n some saint laurent chelsea boots PHEW , he wears sunglasses inside w out hesitating , thinks kaia is a ~superbaby~ and is NOT afraid to tell u how much fucking smarter she is than ‘ normal babies , ‘ he has a sponsorship w a fucking bougie expensive ass teeth whitening brand and they’ve insured his smile for an UNREASONABLE sum of money , a big mood for him w how busy he is would b a hurried hookup in the back seat of his limo with led zeppelin blasting over the speakers , his office has one of those balcony golf sets except its full golf and not mini putt so his ass will get PISSED and just . shoot fucking golf balls off the side of the building not caring who’s car they dent two blocks away SKSKKSKS
𝖉 𝖊 𝖘 𝖎 𝖗 𝖊 𝖘
UM quick plots , basically im heavily searching for the mother to his child , kaia who would be about a year and a half rn , i wanted them to have an incredibly tumultuous back and forth relationship bc lbr caine is not a great person but he is a spectacular dad so it’s a catch-22 for anyone involved skskkss
also looking for his “ in my head “ by ari type ex ? i did not name this mans CAINE for nothing cmon now kids
i would fucking LOVE more than anything to have ppl who work with him in any extent ? it could be models who rep the brand and he flirts incessantly with , it could be influencers who have a partnership w him and see his business side , it could be people w ambition who work for his company and see his NASTY side but pls , supreme inc is open to any and everything .
chaos squad , hookups , party friends , athletic rivals , ride or dies , ppl who SOMEHOW tolerate him , ppl who proudly do not tolerate him at all , maybe even the dude he punched in the street that one time ? also cousins , childhood friends , on and offs , HELLA exes , ppl he torments , close as siblings relationships , maybe someone he’s kinda soft for but will never admit ?
#glitt:intros#tbt !#my ass ? SPENT#like this for plots and we can hit him n markie up all at once ! :)))

Meeting Roman Godfrey
Chapter 2
Warning: cursing.
Author notes: establishing these two dynamic. The calm before the storm if you will. Lol.
“I can honestly say that I’m jealous.” Roman mumbled as he stared in wonder at myr Uncles’ home. Walking around touching the original furnishings, and admiring the extensive art collection that was everywhere you looked, in some form or another.
My uncles home had been designed by famous architect frank lloyd wright and was dramatically built on top of a waterfall, giving it the suitable name of “Falling Water”. It was as famous for its genius design, as it was for being owned by a reclusive antisocial billionaire that didn’t allow journalists, photographers, architects or anyone for that matter near the home, let alone photograph it.
I think, the waterfall is annoying, the kitchen impractical, pretty much had no storage space, was constantly in need of some major renovation or repair, and was as close to living in a fish bowl you could get. I’d never admit any of those things out loud, because it truly was beautiful, but deep down I hated living in the famous home.
“I’m just shocked you drove all the way out here. I figured for sure you’d see how far it was and be like pass.” I said trying to draw some attention from the home.
“He recognized the address.” I spun around to find my Uncle standing by one of the homes many staircases.”hello Godfrey. I bet you’re beside yourself to finally have a look inside.”
“Absolutely, sir. It’s an absolute honor to be in your home.” Roman said politely.
I looked at him incredulously. He was known for being a pain in the ass and a brat, but maybe he was just smart and chose his battles. My uncle was as famous for being an asshole as he was for being a genius, but it seemed as though they knew eachother. “So I guess you two know eachother?” i asked.
“Since i can remember. your Uncle loves to tell me to go fuck myself on the regular. Well not since I tried to buy this house right before....” Romn trailed off as he seemed to get lost in some distant memory...
“What happened to your cousin Letha?” My uncle asked. Strange for him to even ask personal questions, let alone remember names (even if it was my name too)
“Uncle! It might be polite to ask him how he is first...” I huffed.
“I dont care about his emotional state. I care about how a perfectly strong healthy girl died so suddenly and then it just went away.” he analyzed Romans reaction, but there was none. my Uncle liked to test people.
“brain or blood vessel burst in child labor. I was there. So much blood... then she was gone.
“Uncle!!! Are you seriously...”
“No need to defend me Letha.” Roman interjected with a pleasant smile, “your Uncle is one of my favorite people.”
“Did I ever tell you how not just one, but two women ended up with your terrible name?” he asked me with one of his mischevious smiles. “in Greek it translates to forgetful, and considering you’re not forgetful in the least its ironic. Marie and your mother both hated Olivia, and bonded over that mutual hate. Marie was so taken by your others charms, she named Letha after you the following day.”
I looked over to Roman and he was staring into me. i glanced away to my Uncle, who was watching Roman wth a strange smile on his face. He was acting kind of strange, even for him. I’d better get Roman out of here before he hates me.
“. Come on out here with me and we can chat you two. Letha grab me a ginger ale and get Roman a water since he’s driving.” my Uncle ordered.
I agreed and hurried to the kitchen and watched in curiosity as the two notoriously difficult business tycoons seemed to be enjoying one another out on the terrace.
I hadn’t planned on inviting Roman in, but he had been so obviously enamored by the famous home, that i couldn’t refuse when he’d politely asked to see it. Normally a guy asking to see inside was a question with shady intentions, but the pure wonder on his face had proven otherwise.
Now i didn’t even know what to think about my Uncle being his version of kind to Roman. Uncle hated visitors. I wasn’t totally sure how much he liked me even. I felt like I was in some alternate reality
I grabbed the drinks, put them on this fancy tray and carried them out to the terrace. It was just nearly dusk and this was one of the prettiest times to see the house, when it was all lit up like a lone lantern in the thick forest with the dramatic waterfalls, and otherworldly feel.
It was kind of silly that the house was the view, instead of the house having a view. And ironically, the house was so hidden away on 1700 acres up a long winding road, behind a massive gate, with full time security, that nobody really ever got to view it.. Uncle has grown tired of people just showing up or seeing flashes in the woods, so he hired this crazy security company to keep everyone out and monitor all the borders. Hardly anyone ever made it thru now. It was private, but extremely isolated and lonely.
“I’m surprised you’d take interest in Letha.” My uncle said, eyes narrowing obviously oblivious I was right behind them. I held my breath and didn’t move a muscle. I wanted to hear this.
“Why? She’s a beautiful girl.” Roman chuckled.
My heart warmed and stomach fluttered a bit. OH HELL NO Letha. Keep that shit in check.Hes gorgeous, and tall, and sexy, and charmng, and smelled nice, and could hold his own with your uncle, but hes also famous for bedding every woman in his path....
“Frankly her breasts are too big for my taste, they seem like a handicap more than an asset, but that’s trivial and shallow. She’s too smart and she doesn’t listen for shit.”
“I had noticed that actually...” Roman said thoughtfully.
“Which part?”
“All of it.”
I cleared my throat, so I didnt hear anything else wrong with me. “Drinks guys.”
Roman hopped up to help me but I signaled him to sit, as I served them their beverages. I could feel his eyes on me, but was careful not to look at him and notice.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” My uncle said. I was gonna punch him in the face, hes such an ass! god I love him.
I burst out laughing and looked at Roman who was 3 shades redder and forcing an uncomfortable smile. He isnt that cool, he does get embarrassed, thats better.
My Uncle started to laugh but winced. “Ouch. Shit. Fucking neck.” He cursed as he was reminded laughing wasn’t allowed yet. He hardly ever did laugh so it wasn’t really an issue normally.
“You’re my favorite person in the world Uncle.” I meant it too. He’s always been there for me, and when I heard he’d hurt himself and may need my help, I dropped everything, hopped in my car and drove the nearly 3000 miles to his house.
It’d taken nearly a whole day to get permission to pass the guards. They were new and usually my uncle came to see me. I’d only been to this house one time when I had graduated high school more than a few years ago. With me going to University, my uncle no longer had to live in the city, so he came here.. Something about the house and town was unsettling to me.
“Well considering the competition, it’s not much of a compliment.” My uncle said dryly. “One day you two should compare notes and see which one of your mothers is the more despicable creature.”
“Is it ok if I take Roman on a little nature walk so he can see the house in all its glory?”
“Go ahead. I’m gonna go to sleep shortly but no hanky panky you two.” He said with a mischievous grin.
Now it was my turn to be red. I turned to Roman and he was already up by my side. I took his hand and walked to the floating stairs that led to the ground floor. I was sure to walk slowly so he could take in all the house had to offer.
“Beautiful.” Roman said under his breath.
“Oh my gosh I know! Can you believe they built this out in the middle of nowhere in 1935? Can you imagine? And it hasn’t been cheap or easy keeping it perfect like this. A few years ago they had to rip half the house apart and reinforce it because the terraces were sagging. Uncle spent like 11 million dollars that time on engineers and architects and materials. He was not letting it go, and I don’t even think the whole house is worth that, but when he likes something, not hell nor high water can change his mind.”
“I wasn’t talking about the house, although good to know.” He smiled at me almost shyly.
“Are you trying to be adorable? You aren’t shy, and yet you’re acting almost sweet.”
“You’re so weird. You just spit out whatever you’re thinking don’t you?” Roman challenged me. Super cocky confident Roman returning.
“Omg you’re a peacock. Look at you preening about, puffing up your chest.”
“A peacock? Really? What does that make you?”
I had to think about that for a moment.”I’d have to go with a honey badger I think.” I said.
Roman choked on his water. I pat him on the back, giving him a moment to catch his breath. “Why is that such a shock?”
“No reason.” He tried to look innocent but I could see thru his shit. “Why did you choose it?”
“Well I’m resourceful, fearless, I don’t listen, I prefer my own company, no one can keep me contained, and snakes don’t intimidate me.”
“Ya?” Roman got very close to me and wrapped his arms around me looking down through long lashes. He oozed sex appeal and I could see how all the girls fell all over him.
I reached up and booped his nose. “Boop.” I giggled hysterically at his facial expression.
“What was that?” He asked confusedly.
“Shut. The. Fuck. Up. No one has ever booped you in the nose? That’s crazy! You have the best looking nose I’ve ever seen.”
“I’ve never gotten that one.”
“Well that’s cuz most women are probably trying to be sexy and mysterious with you. theyre not being themselves. Boop. Ok last one. Sorry. I barely know you, I can’t go booping you all over the place on our first date, you’re a nice Christian boy...” I said sarcastically. I grabbed him by the hand and pulled him along the way. “We are almost there and it’s getting dark. We don’t wanna get eaten out here or have to kill something.”
i looked back and Roman was genuinely smiling. I felt warm all over, I looked t our hands intertwined and was puzzled with the feeeling i felt. i looked back at Roman and he was looking at our hands too...
We walked along in happy silence until we reached the rocks across the lake and waterfalls from the house. I was wearing Converse, but his dress shoes were proving to be less than nature friendly. We finally got up the slick stairs cut into the stone to reach the sitting area, after a lot of effort and laughs. They were the worst shoes for this environment ever.
Upon seeing the house, Roman audibly gasped. He took a few steps ahead and I just admired his profile and form. He really was beautiful. I knew he was going to kiss me before the night was thru. I knew better than to trust this boy, and I knew this was really stupid and I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I was completely enthralled and was going to see it through. I didnt half ass anything, and i wasnt going to start with him.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” Roman said playfully.
My eyes flashed at him trying to tell me what to do. I lowered my head and looked up at him thru my lashes with a sneer.
“Hey hold on, that’s my trick! We can’t BOTH have intense sexy stares.” he walked over and casually grabbed me around the waist.
“Good thing mine is just evil then.” I said in my best creepy witch voice.
He burst out laughing, eyes shining. It was a genuine laugh. I could tell by the way he instantly tried to control it, that it didn’t happen often. He tried to be so intimidating and serious, but there was a warmth to him, just under the surface.
“You’re a nerd.” He said quietly.
Oh boy here we go. He’s gonna try this again. My mind was running 1000 miles a minute as I tried to decide whether I was going to let this happen, when all of a sudden it was too late. His lips were on me as he pulled me into a deep embrace. If I was the type to get caught up in a moment, this would be that moment. He smelled amazing, and tasted so sweet. I felt gum in his mouth with my tongue and I snatched it. I pulled away victorious and mock screamed like a roaring crowd, jogging in a circle arms raised.
“You did not just steal my gum.” He beamed at me, chasing me and catching me in his arms before slipping and pulling me down on top of him, wincing at the impact.
i hovered over him laughing hysterically. “grace and beauty,” i teased. “ No gum is safe when I’m around.” I grabbed his hand and dragged him to his feet and then back to the stairs. “Time to go on the date I have planned for us.”
His eyebrows shot up and he looked genuinely shocked. “You planned out a date?”
“I did. And I have a feeling, you’re going to love it giiiirrrlll!” We both were giggling like school kids as we made our way back to the house.
I looked up to see my Uncle watching us from his terrace, a worried look on his face. That was kind of odd, but this was Roman Godfrey for chrissake.
I obnoxiously kissed my hand with a big “muah!” And threw it at my uncle who ducked like he was really avoiding getting hit.
“You nearly got me that time.” He yelled down to me.
I laughed and waved goodbye as we walked around the house to Romans Mercedes G wagon.
“Do you know why this suv is so expensive?” I asked him.
“It’s a Mercedes.” He said rolling his eyes.
“Although that’s part of it, these are built by hand and take over 40 hours buy two master craftsman to build. They have all the top-of-the-line materials used as well as three locking differentials. It’s the only one in its class with that so it’s superior for off-road Ing especially with the all wheel drive. Add that with superior safety and brand reliability and you have a very expensive, amazing machine. And since you of course have the AMG, you have to add two more craftsman to its build to hand build its engine that’s a mechanical marvel in itself.”
“You know more about my car than me. “ he laughed.
“It’s no big deal, I just never forget something once I’ve read it.”
“Never? I understand your ironic name now”
“Nope. It’s a blessing and a curse. I get it from my Uncle I guess.”
“That’s impressive.” He said sincerely. “I better never lie to you.”
I looked at him and our eyes locked. We stood there eyes locked on one another, neither of us wanting to be the first to look away. A smile crept across his face and i did an exaggerated silly wink.
“You are full of surprises Ms. Letha... what is your last name? Same as your Uncle?
“Nope. My last name is Dahl although I’d love to change it. Not a fan of my father.
“Oh? Family drama Letha Dahl?’
“You have no idea.” I winked and got in the passenger side before he could reach the door and open it for me. I watched him walk around to the drivers seat and stop to read a message and reply. He scanned thru his phone and slipped it in his pocket. He climbed in and pushed the button to start the car. I went to the navigation and entered the address of our destination and pressed start.
I looked out the window analyzing my thoughts and emotions with scientific precision, first identifying the particular emotions and then assessing where there root was, before filing them away as solved. This was how I regulated thoughts and feelings, so they never got the best of me but this time there were emotions, I had no name for and there was nothing logical about them. I’d dated and even had boyfriends, but I’d never been this absolutely enamored by a man. i felt .... God, what was it?
Roman Godfrey was way cooler than me, but I was smarter, but for the first time in my life, I wasn’t sure if that was an advantage. I had never let emotion take the wheel, but i almost wanted to. I wanted to be lost in this tragic gorgeous boy.

Little Help -- Roman Godfrey
Written By: @golden-alie
Request: “Hi ! Can you make a Roman Godfrey x reader where the two are friends and the reader is the girl who has always good note and the teacher ask her to help Roman. But, instead he bring her to a date and confess his love for her. Thank you ❤️😄”
Warnings: Cursing.
Pairing: Roman Godfrey x Reader
Word Count: 713
Mr. Starnn loved to compliment my work and my dedication to his class. Truth be told, it was a bit odd most of the time, but everyone insisted that he was harmless. And I figured that was true when he approached me after class one day and asked if I could help a student in his class bring their grade up.
Apparently, their parents had pull at the school and were insisting their kid get a better grade. Mr. Starnn wasn’t too keen on giving away free A+, so he enlisted my help. I asked who it was I would be tutoring, and who else would it be than my best friend? Roman was never the brightest bulb. He liked to be, and he sure tried, but recently he had been distracted by something. He wouldn’t tell me what, and I couldn’t get a single clue.
I didn’t hesitate to accept Mr. Starnn’s offer before grabbing my things and leaving the near empty classroom. Roman was waiting for me in the hallway as if he knew what Mr. Starnn wanted to talk to me about. “So, what did you say? Will you help me?”
I rolled my eyes, “Duh.” I pulled at his sleeve as I dragged him along. “We’ll start with velocity tonight. Bring your Physics book and your notebook. Be at my place around 7.”
Roman draped his arm over my shoulders, and I didn’t think anything of it. “I have a better idea. Meet me in the park at 5.”
I knew I wouldn’t win an argument with him, so I agreed. We walked to his car and I threw my backpack in the back. On the drive to my house, he blasted music and tapped his fingers on the shift between us. Again, I thought nothing of his hand occasionally inching closer. Before his hand got too close, though, he pulled up in front of my house. I grabbed my bag and waved goodbye to him as I ran inside.
“The park!” he called, “5 o’clock!”
“I know!” I yelled back before he sped off.
It was a warm evening, but the light breeze made me think it was a bit colder than it actually was. So I threw on a fall sweater, a pair of jeans, and comfortable shoes over thick socks. The park where Roman and I usually met up was fairly close to my house, so I always walked there. Tucked in my arm was the large Physics book, knowing damn well that Roman wouldn’t bring his.
In the distance I could see his car parked against the curb. Sitting in the grass on top of a picnic blanket was Roman, waiting patiently for me. When he noticed me approaching, he gave me a slight wave. I waved back.
“What all this?” I asked, looking down at the picnic he set up.
“Take a seat,” he said nervously. Again, I thought nothing of this.
Perhaps it’s just the breeze making his teeth jitter, I thought. “I brought the textbook,” I said, holding it up. Roman nodded quietly. “Are you alright, Roman? You’re uncharacteristically quiet,” I teased.
“Well, there is something I have been meaning to tell you for awhile.” I raised an eyebrow in curiosity. “See… I’ve never really done this before… I’ve never even felt this way before.” He took a deep sigh, “Thing is, I really like you. I always have, but I’ve just been too chicken shit to say anything. But I figured that having you as my new tutor was excuse enough to say something.”
I was a bit taken aback. All of the small clues I hadn’t took to before were all starting to make sense. And then I thought about my own actions. How I touched him as often as I could. How I let him touch me, and how I even nuzzled into him to bring him closer. All of it made sense. “I like you, too, Roman,” I admitted.
A look of relief washed over him, but he tried not to look too cocky. “Well…” he smiled. “Mr. Starnn is right, I suppose. I need a little help in Physics, if you’re willing to help.”
I leaned forward and kissed his soft lips. “Of course I’ll help you.”

Chapter 3
Masterlist
Chapter 4 - What’s up, Wolff?
17th November 2016
I started fourth week with my broken ribs. It was getting fucking annoying but they didn't hurt so much as they did in the beginning. I was learning a fair amount about herbs, tried to memorize some quick and useful spells. Slowly it started to get in my mind. Erika was happy about it but I needed to try harder. She always left me some books to read but soon there was nothing left. Erika didn't want me to read our ancestors's things so I made my own 'book' of things I knew and find useful. I called it my own personal 'portable grimoire'.
When she handed me some journals and grimoires about symbols, how to use them and combine them, I got an idea. Since our talk passed a week or so and I wanted to know if dad was possessed by something. Erika told me it was possible - that's why she wore those charms and rings everyday.
I told her I thought that someday I could find myself in situation when none of it I will be able to wear or I'll simply forget one thing and then what? I'll end up dead in some fucking alley? Firstly she wasn't so happy about it, but thought about my idea and then allowed it.
We drove to another town where no one knew us and I got myself my first tattoo. More like one big across my whole back with UV ink. And we had to go back three times because he couldn't do it in one session. So yeah, I got tattoo no one could see but I felt safer and Erika told me it was a pretty good idea. I was protected and no one could tell I'm a witch or suspected me of it. Right there I was that weird chick with a cool aunt.
"How're your ribs?" Her voice brought me back from my thoughts.
"Much better."
"So you're ready for a few quick rounds?" It wasn't much of a question but I nodded. When I got frustrated one day that learning names of stupid herbs won't help me and I'm just fed up, Erika made a game out of it. And every day we walked through her garden and I was supposed to answer her questions. Sometimes she would tell me name and I would tell her what the herb is for and how can you use it. Sometimes she just pointed at some and I had to tell her the name. In the basement she practised spells with me. And they were a pain in the ass. The oldest ones weren't translated (they had description of what they do though) and maybe it wasn't even language from our world. Spells translated from latin? Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
My mind was quick to adjust to situation in which we were but what if somebody attacked me and my mind went blank? What if I couldn't remember a single spell? Erika told me to run because one day my life could depend on how fast will I run.
Since I still couldn't go to school and let's be honest Erika made herself perfectly clear telling me why and when I will go, I was glad that Peter or his mother came by. I wasn't so self-confident to walk the streets of Hemlock Grove on my own yet. And honestly? I was scared. I was so fucking scared. Aunt told me it's a healthy reaction, that I'm healing and later I won't be feeling invincible like she did.
When I was in my room later that afternoon looking out of the small window near my bed, I could made out the shape of Rumancek's trailer on the other side of the river. I saw there two figures. One of them was definitely Peter but the second one didn't ring a bell. I knew they couldn't see me from so far away in such a small window but Peter said he would stopped by today and didn't say anything about another visitor.
He was my only friend I had here. And that was completely my fault since I was still buried in books or practising with Erika. I did became curious about Hemlock Grove so she told me stories and how it is today. She spoke about the Godfrey family, how a few years back they closed the Steel Mill and built Godfrey Institute. How a lot of people lost their jobs and were forced to look somewhere else or go to the Institute.
"Why do you live here? Why not somewhere else?" I asked Erika in the evening, when we were eating dinner.
"Because wether I like it or not, some Wolff has to live here. Not to mention the supernatural creatures who live in this town. One day we may need their help or the other way around. Some of them are very powerful and old. Or they come from old blood."
"Such as?"
"Such as you will know in the right time. I can't tell you everything. Some things you need to find out for yourself."
I was going to give her a piece of my mind, I really was, but there was a soft knock on our door. I got up and opened them. "Ah, Peter Rumancek. My only friend in this Hellhole. Where's your friend?"
He grinned at me. "It's not my problem you don't have friends and what friend are you talking about?" He carefully walked past me, avoiding my ribs and I closed the door. "Hi, Erika!"
"Hi, Peter."
"Go upstairs. You know where my room is." I told him and picked up my plate with dinner. "I'll eat it in my room." She only nodded because it became during the last few weeks a habit for Peter to show up this late. Sometimes he came with his mum but not today.
"So, what about your friend?" I asked him again, watching how he spread himself on my bed.
"What friend?"
"The one I saw through that window," I pointed behind him with my fork and grimaced, "earlier this day. He was taller than you." Fucking ribs. I seated myself on my comfy chair and put in my mouth another bite of risotto, watching Peter closely.
"And that taller than you friend, is Roman."
My eyebrows furrowed. "You didn't mention that name. I know that Lynda is your mother," he gave me affirmative nod, "Destiny is your cousin," another nod, "and that's basically everyone you've ever talked about. You, my friend, are very secretive," I talked with full mouth and pointed my fork at him again.
"Firstly - you, my second friend who isn't from family, are disgusting. Shut your mouth and eat. And secondly it isn't my problem. If you would be so kind and stopped playing a mole and went out to meet actual people, then I wouldn't be your only friend."
I sat quietly, finishing the rest of my meal and then spoke my mind. "I'm scared, Peter. I'm not even healed yet. I can't go to school yet but I'm tired of being here all the time. Even those trees in our backyard are pissing me off."
Peter was looking at me curiously, just lifted himself on his elbows and kept staring. "Are you sure it's just because of your ribs? Aren't you afraid of something else?"
I knew Peter knew about the supernatural side of our world. But I still wasn't entirely sure what to made of it. He never told me how exactly he came to that knowledge or if he had real witches in the family. I started nervously tugging my sleeve and that was the only answer he needed.
"Look. Tomorrow we'll go to the cake shop in downtown. I'll buy you an ice-cream."
"Peter, it's November."
"Who cares? Sometimes all you need is an ice-cream so stop bitching."

So the next day, in November, we went into town to get some ice-cream. Saying I was only nervous would be a big fucking lie. I was enormously bigh bundle of nerves and every unexpected noise made me jump but Erika was pleased with my progress, saying that I needed to get out of my comfort zone. So here I was. In front of our house waiting for Peter fucking Rumancek, who always got his way and my aunt supported him in it.
When he finally showed up, shit-eating grin spreading across his face, I wanted to slap him.
"What's up, Wolff? Can't wait for the tour?"
I rolled my eyes at him but smiled anyway. Our walk to the shop wasn't the fastest, I needed to make small breaks which were filled with Peter's sarcastic humour. Then he spoke about his family with a great passion and love. We exchanged stories. I told him about my seventh birthday when I broke my arm because of my stupidity. He told me about his uncle Vince and grandfather Nicolae.
"So what flavor do you want?" he asked me once we were inside the shop.
"If they have vanilla, I'll take it."

For the first afternoon outside of the house I wasn't feeling bad. Actually I realized I kind of did miss it. Small talks of other people, the rush of the town, rumbling of car's engine, that weird noises like from some porn... wait. What? I stopped in my tracks on the pavement and Peter did the same. "What?"
"Do you hear that?" I asked like an idiot and took a look around myself. The only thing I saw was empty parking lot. Well, there was one car. With clouded windows even though they we opened a bit. Oh! Peter looked in the same way as I did and began walking again. "Come on, that's Roman's car." It didn't sound like a big news to him and I just stared at the car. "You coming?!"
I actually needed to speed up a bit so I could maintain the same pace with him. "Uhm, did you hear that too?"
"It was from Roman's car. Don't sweat it." He told me and immediately laughed about the double-edged sentence.
I was taken aback. A little bit. "So your mysterious friend is normally having sex with strangers in his car?"
Peter gave me amused look and shook his head. "He's not mysterious but I'll tell him you'll think of him that way."
"Ah, fucking great!"
×
Roman was waiting in old Godfrey Steel Mill for Peter who was running a bit late. He paced and lit up a cigarette. That girl today, who he fucked senseless, was good distraction but he couldn't fucking wait for better weather when girls will wear skirts again. Also he thought he saw today Peter with someone but it wasn't Letha.
"Roman! Enjoyed your little afternoon fuck in car?" Peter said instead of classic welcome and laughed.
Godfrey exhaled smoke and rolled his eyes. "I thought I saw you there! Who the fuck was with you? She stared at my car like she couldn't believe it."
"She's a new friend and thinks about you you're my mysterious best friend who daily fucks strangers in his car," answered Peter amusedly and grabbed a beer from the six-pack Roman brought with him.
"Well, she certainly wouldn't be wrong. Keep her close, she's a clever one."
