Hmmmm.

Killer has the patience of a saint, so he’s very easy to get on with. Usually his only real concerns for a potential partner are how they get on with his best friends - or depending on you headcanon - how they get on with the rest of his polycule.

He doesn’t need someone willing to be within the current dynamic, but they can’t create additional drama. There is already ENOUGH.

Because of this I think he tends toward people who are in his lane. Patient, thoughtful, more think first act second. They don’t have to be to his level, but he doesn’t need Kid 2.0 in his life in any sense of the word.

You can be loud and adventurous, but preferably not rude and impetuous at the same time.

When it comes to dating I feel like he’d be a mix of old-fashioned and youthful. Dinner and a movie (a place you like and a movie you like, he didn’t even ask but he’s observant, it’s impressive and sweet), but after the movie might be a roller derby or mosh pit. If you dressed up real nice he’ll keep an extra eye out for you, or swing by your place so you can change after the movie.

Curious about underground fighting? Killer knows some people.

Want to see the newest art exhibit? Sure, let him get the gang to braid his hair so he doesn’t look too wild and he’s there.

He’s fond of pasta enough to be really good at cooking it, but if you want something sweet he knows the best pastry shop in town.

I also think too that his rage if something happened to you would only be matched by Kid. While Kid’s Devil fruit would fuel the destruction he could cause, Killer would exceed the moniker of Massacre Soldier. People would whisper that even the Grim Reaper had more mercy than the visage of death that Killer becomes.

At least until his vengeance is complete.

“Ye know,” David began, picking a fry off of Brock’s plate, “You coulda invited anyone else out and ye chose me? Why is that?” He plopped the fry in his mouth and watched in pure entertainment as Brock’s face turned a light shade of red.

“Well- er- I just wanted to- well,” he gestured roughly into the air. “Maybe I wanted to bond a bit,” he rolled his eyes and moved his plate towards him as David went to grab another fry. 

Which, in response, gained a pout. 

But, then David regained his smile and leaned back into his seat. “Well I’m glad you invited me,” he decided, reassuring in his tone and part of Brock did feel relieved by the confirmation.

“Is that so?” Brock asked, shoving a fry into his mouth after dipping it into some ketchup.

David nodded confidently. “Of course! It’s been really fun-- all things considered.”

Brock raised a brow. “All things considered?” he repeated.

David nodded again and took Brock’s moment of confusion to reach a long arm over and snatch another couple of fries, brushing his hand over Brock’s which caused the American to jump. 

Brock glared. “You shoulda just ordered your own!” he whined, but he wasn’t actually too mad about it.

“It wouldn’t be fun to steal fries off of my own plate,” David argued, winking teasingly at Brock.

“You’re unbearable,” Brock huffed, using his other hand to cover his face, but he also pushed the plate towards the middle of the table.

“Yet ye still invited me out,” David said as he reached for a fry in victory.

Brock smiled a tinge behind his hand, giving into his defeat. “Touche,” he said, “But, fuck you anyways.” 

The two shared a laugh and shared some fries.

The night was still young by the time they finished, but the diner didn’t close for a bit and Brock insisted that David tried a cookie.

“They literally make the best cookies here-- I promise you’ll love them!” he said, nearly bouncing in his seat which gained a fond smile from David.

“Okay- okay, I believe ye Brock,” he laughed, a tad awkward as he held his hands in front of his chest, surrendering. 

“Yes!” Brock grinned, waving down their waitress after kindly calling out her name. she happly took his order for half a dozen cookies- “John’s gonna want a few”- David didn’t complain much, instead became rather curious on just how much of a regular Brock is- he did know most of the staff.

“Did ye work here at one point?” he asked.

Brock blinked, calming down some with the question and shaking his head. “No,” he trailed off and then giggled. “I used to come here every weekend when I was younger so I’ve come to know the family that runs it,” he explained. 

“Oh,” David nodded. “So it’s family run still?” 

“Mostly,” Brock answered, “The man who opened this place- our waiters dad- is retired now, so the guy who owns it now is actually a close family friend, but they all get along.” 

David nodded again and then he grinned. “Why’d ye visit so frequently?” he asked.

Brock raised a brow, resting his arms on the table. “I came here with my family once and really liked it so I would just treat myself every weekend- if I didn’t have practice.” He paused then, and tilted his head. “Why are you so curious?”

David shrugged. “I like hearing ye talk, and I like learning about ye,” he said. 

“Oh.”

He laughed. “Sorry, was that a weird thing to say?”

Brock shook his head quickly, chuckling a little. “No- no, it’s fine, just... not what I was expecting to hear,” he answered.

But, before David could ask, the waitress dropped off a box of cookies with a little wink and handed Brock the check before leaving. 

Brock paid and tipped before leading David out to the car. 

The ride to the apartment building was fun, mainly because Brock was right and David did love the cookies- “I told you so!” “Shut up- I’m trying to enjoy it!”- They soon did get back though and the night came to an end once they got to their floor. 

David stalled by Brock door, rubbing the back of his neck as he held a cookie in his hand. “Thanks for treating me, Brock,” he said with a smile. “I owe ye a dinner,” he added. 

Brock laughed. “I’ll hold you to that,” he said. “But, I’m glad you came. I hope you have a good night, David,” he gently patted his shoulder.

“Ye too, Brock,” he said. “I’ll see ya at practice tomorrow,” he added, before beginning down the hall. 

“Yeah, later,” Brock called, watching for a moment with a fond smile before he headed inside, locking the door behind him.

my friends, it is alexandria rosales’ last week on the blaseball hall of fame ballot and it is my solemn duty as a spies fan to bring you the evidence for why they should be inducted. alex is a spies icon, but they have done much more than be on our team since day 1. here are some of alex's hall of fame worthy accomplishments:

alex has the 7th highest pitching WhAT ever. this is higher than a bunch of players who have already deservedly made it in, like theodore cervantes and jolene willowtree.

alex has the 10th most pitching wins at 260.

alex has the 7th most quality pitching starts at 251.

alex has an overall ERA of 3.32 but their peaks were incredible, with a 2.0 in season 21 and a 1.98 in season 8, where they had the best ERA in the league. notice how those are two very different times in blaseball!

but alex is not just good at pitching. in season 24, teamwide scattering activated their undefined mod. in that season alex had a BA of 0.432, the second-best one-season BA in blaseball history following only dudley mueller's season 11. this is better than both jaxon buckley and conner haley's best seasons.

in season 24 alex also had the highest one-season OB/SLG ever at 1.439.

frankly these accomplishments make alex extremely qualified for the hall. however, i know what you people on blaseball tumblr also enjoy: lore. here are some bits of alex rosales lore:

sword lesbian. the sword is a cursed family heirloom. it killed some union busters once

they used to do roller derby! then almost everyone they did it with died or was shadowed. however they did it!

the spies do not have captains but alex might as well be one. a true houston icon.

has a long romantic history with a wide variety of beloved players. they had a rivalmance with jessica telephone. they had a fraught could-have-been with donia bailey. they nearly dated avila guzman. they could have dated siobhan chark but unfortunately they had given up at romance at that point

anyway they threw that cursed sword at the coin! sick!!

Desires: Lucifer season 5 on Netflix

Preface: Alright my Lucis, here’s the sitch: it’s been a minute. Life got a bit chaotic I wasn’t able to start season five quite on time when it premiered on August 21st because I haven’t finished the great 2020 Lucifer rewatch. I’m nearly done however and should be able to jump into it either later today or tomorrow, which is why beforehand I want to — as I’ve traditionally done for a few seasons — create a desires list and keep a tally throughout the season to see how many are met. I am going to try to pace myself, not binge, and watch a single episode a day so don’t spoil me. Likewise I will tag my spoilers. Here we go... #21DaysofLucifer

Season 3 and 4 Roundout - Desires Fulfilled / Questions Answered

✔We’ve seen other demons “like Maze” and a bit of what havoc they can reek. Well sort of. To be quite frank, although it was cool to see them possess the recently deceased, it wasn’t as impending doom as I was expecting. They didn’t seem nearly as disciplined or intimidating as Mazikeen, even Dromos, more bored and desperate.

✔ We’ve seen a little more or the heavenly host in Remiel. Remi was cool, if a bit intense. Her character, and her affinity to Amenadiel was a nice foil to see how far his character has come in evolution. But again like Uriel was for Lucifer, she kind of became a driving force character device to push Amenadiel’s growth. So I wonder if we’ll get to see more of her or not.

✔ (s3) The backstory of Lucifer’s arrival in LA, finding LUX, and making a deal with Amenadiel.

✔ (s3) Cain finally went to hell, YES! Not that I didn’t like Marcus Pierce/Tom Welling, there were some great interactions there, but I just think he was a wishy-washy antagonist based on how he was written and I can’t wait to trade up for Michael.

✔ Maze finally had some happiness and attachment to this silly mortal coil and it slipped away! Why Eve why? I love Maze’s bonding with humans, Linda, Trixie, Chloe. But I love that after a Millennia of serving, and then watching Amenadiel and Linda be happy in a family unit, that she might actually make her own and my hopes were dashed. 

Things we got that we didn’t even know we wanted. SO GOOD:

Season 4 ep 8: Amenadiel bonding with Caleb and confronting community violence, police brutality, and systemic racism. It was a rough episode to be sure, but absolutely needed,

Chloe talking Lucifer down and out of a self-hatred spiral and his transformation into full-fledged devil and back again.

Lucifer playing Creep on repeat while missing the detective (even after insisting in a therapy session that “he’s not a teenager playing Adele on repeat) and Mr. Said Out B**** trying to rob Lucifer and gun point and ultimately get rich. What a fun twist.

The Dan and Maze Los X’s fight. They are wicked good at laying down the  hurt on the criminal element and I was wondering when they’d pair up again after dispatching Warden Perry.

The devil in a bar fight! I mean, it’s only fair since the ladies had their brawl. I love how this fight sequence was filmed in bursts of slo-mo from various angles, involved everything from fists, to tasers, knives, bottles, and the infamous pool cue, and they picked the perfect song for pacing (Jake Bugg, Lightning Bolt, could listen to it all day on repeat.)

Time for all good demons to go home / Enough, you will bow down to your king. Go home! (aka appropriate use of Devilish intimidation face)

★ Amenadiel’s wrath and the brotherly duo tag team to lay the hurt on the drug dealer that got Charlie killed. It’s been a while since we’ve seen warrior angel ready to dispatch anyone in his way. And it was glorious!

★ (s3) Lucifer’s almost driving lesson with Trixie “Morningstar”

★ (s3) Maze torturing Lucifer by making him think he’s the Angel of San Bernadino

★ (s3) Amenadiel and Lina helping to dispose of Lucifer’s wings

★  Lucifer kicking Julian, Tiernan’s son, through a glass pane window

★ The goodbye kiss between Lucifer and Chloe

 DIDN’T LIKE:

☒ (s3) Cain playing guitar and singing. What is he, a crime lord, a top cop, or an act that the improv club wouldn’t take? 

☒ Eve. I liked Eve, but we mostly got to see one side of her around Lucifer, and a kind of floundering an confused side when she was with Maze. The side that I would have liked to see more of was the maternal side that came out when she briefly talked about Abel or was interrogated by Trixie. That made her more layered.

☒ Father Kinley. That dude is just meh.

☒ Dan’s broken heart and rebounding with Ella. Don’t get me wrong, its a good arc, but I don’t see it lasting

☒ (s3) Abel and Reese. Those were two side stories I could have done without, although they had great moments of humor. I quite enjoyed Reese’s character, and although I didn’t like Abel Lucifer’s stick-figure comic illustration of Cain fighting with him over a rock was quite enjoyable.

WHAT I TRULY DESIRE: SINFUL SEASON 5, my BURNING QUESTIONS, and SPECULATIONS

Obviously, don’t spoil anything for me, but if any of my desires end up coming true in any of the first eight episodes maybe drop me a hint in the comments...

A big time jump. We need to see the lasting impact of Lucifer’s absence. I know that time in hell works differently per that episode where Lucifer saved Chloe and almost got stuck in a loop, but we still need enough time to elapse that the impact is felt on the mortal side. Or, we need to see the passage of time through a series of events without Lucifer, like a montage of character development. At least a year or so, if for no other reason then Trixie is growing up and I actually want to see her take driving lessons with Lucifer.

Last season Maze gave baby Charlie a gift, something she’d wished she’d had growing up, and previously had alluded to the language of demons, her many siblings, and teased her mother, the mother of all demons. Will we finally get to meet Maze’s mom Lilith (or however they address her)? And, in spite of Mazikeen’s found family, she still has restlessness and abandonment issues. Will her mom finally finally bring her peace, or will clashing with her resolidify Maze’s purpose on earth?

A Decker/Mazikeen team-up or girls night out 2.0 would always be appreciated. At this point its probably 4.0 if you count the bar fight and the bachelorette party.

Will we see tougher, scarier demons, or are they just warmup to the really scary depths of hell?

Speaking of hell, more hell. Tons of hell. I want to know the minutia of all the mechanics. If Lucifer’s gotta be down there in self-imposed exile, he may as well show us around. Pour us a drink.

Will Lucifer see Cain in Hell? Not that I’m dying to see more of “sad Cain” but it would be interesting to see a more dark or desperate or cunning side to him at least now that he’s actually neck deep in torment. Or, alternatively, I’m hedging my bets that he could be a good candidate to light the fire under Lucifer’s *** to get of hell back to the earthly realm. Even in hell, I’m betting Cain would have a soft spot for Chloe, and if news reached Lucifer that Michael were trying to abscond with his life and with Chloe, it would give Cain and Lucifer one last bit of “A-Hole brothers” common ground to bond over. Like “Brothers, am I right? Go kick, get Chloe back, I’ll still have enough guilt to torture me with in a few thousand years when you get back,”   

Will Lucifer fall into peril in hell of once again potentially getting distracted and stuck in a hell loop? Will his servants be satisfied with his return? Will Amenadiel bust him out.

Mr. Said Out Bitch needs a role reprise. He’s been in every season opener 2-4, we’ve gotten to know his undergarments very well.  Its high time we get to know his name and story. He’s put in the work!  

Amenadiel should be running LUX in Lucifer's absence. We got a tease of that in previous seasons (remember when he asked what would Lucifer do?) its time for that to come to fruition. Plus, any excuse to put DB Woodside in a suit, just because he wears them so well. It would also be interesting if, after that tragedy he’s experienced, Amenadiel will start taking after Luci. Maybe not the punishing, not yet, but wanting to seek out evil and corruption. It has been teased since s1 “fall as I did.” Perhaps he’ll start developing a taste for his bother’s line of work whereas he found it repugnant in the early days

Dan and Maze or Dan and Ella pair up. Both Dan and Maze are due for some happiness.

An Azrael reboot, when need more of her. She’s the angel of Death for pity’s sake. I don’t know if the original actress is still available or if they would have to recast, or if the character concept by Netflix would even be the same, but I need Azrael to be capable of sweet and unassuming and on a coin flip downright menacing.

More of Lucifer as a godparent, bless! And maybe a cool montage of “cousin” Trixie and Lucifer co-babysitting Charlie please.

Whilst on the subject of Lucifer and parenting, and without putting Trixie too much into harm’s way, I need to see what “I would do anything to protect that little urchin” looks like. Trixstar ride or die.

Father Frank, come back! I need a cameo or recurrent role pleeeeease.

Trixie in every episode. This is non-negotiable, much like chocolate cake. Beatrice is an all-star. In fact, I’ve decided that when Dad/God finally does show up, Trixie needs to be the one to get to know him / introduce him first. She’s been captain on the celestial cheer squad for four seasons, she’s earned this.

Who's going to see through Michael's facade first? I mean, I know that trailer shows Maze torturing it out of him, but as far as intuition goes, I've got a 50/50 split between Trixie and Linda, with an honorable mention to Dan.

If Michael is Lucifer's twin, does he have the same angelic compulsion skill set? Or something different? And will it work on Chloe or is she universally immune?

A “be like Mike” pop-culture reference. ******Spoilers: ******* all the trailers have revealed Michael already, so they owe us this for letting the steam out.

As far as pop-culture, how many movie and TV references will we get from Lucifer and ensemble this year? I expect A-game, from sci-fi to 80s action, on par with the previous likes of Parent Trap, Star Wars, Home Alone, Kim Possible, and Rocky.

Will Amenadiel’s necklace make a reappearance, even after he put it around Caleb’s neck in the morgue? Heavenly artifacts have a way of causing trouble in this show.

Will what finally learn what, if any, significance there is to Lucifer’s ring? Again, as all my fictional writings will attest, I really kind of want it to be a stolen little trinket from him Dad.

Plot twist: will we get to see Hell and the silver city all in one season, or is that too devilishly good to ask? It would be intriguing if Lucifer fell from Heaven for rebelling and now some threat like, for example, the mother of demons would pose a threat to the gates such that Lucifer was called upon to defend them. Not expecting anything Endgame level with a host of Angels popping up like sorcerers...but it is food for the imagination.

Plot twist: will Michael, duplicitous twin that he is, be revealed as the reason that Lucifer does not lie and can’t stand liars? Will be get a Michael back story? Is he perhaps the true rebellious son? see: my original fan conjecture here.

Why I hate Carlie Cooper (Spider-Man Rant)

So I've been going around sites such as CBR, Reddit, Tumblr and Deviantart to see what people's opinions were on Carlie Cooper, and the results were mixed at best. As many other fans of the webcrawling hoodlum, I have my share of gripes with her character and this chapter explains why Carlie is the absolute worst Spider Man love interest.

Sour Introduction

Carlie was introduced too soon and too quickly, just after OMD. The travesty already left a sour taste in our mouthes, but when she was introduced showing Mary Jane the door, this scene not only spat in the face of MJ fans and Pete x MJ shippers, but also made the rest of us go, "QUESADA!!!" This made the replacement girlfriend thing very obvious. Marvel made it clear that MJ is gone and Carlie was here to stay.

Notable character traits were ripped off from other love interests

Many readers caught on that the core traits Carlie displayed in her time in the comics were established within previous love interests. Keep in mind, two characters sharing similar attributes isn't wrong. My own OC, Lucy, shares Urusla Ditkovich's love of baking and apparent shyness, and having powers like Sophia Sanduval, but other than that she is nothing like the latter two in terms of personality, looks and personal history. But this is not about my OC.

Carlie has aspects that are blatantly ripped off from other love interests, and they happen to be their good or recognizable traits. This may or may not be intentional on the writers part but merely a product of trying and failing to develop her as a character. Let me run down the list for you.

• Nerdy, adorable and the supposed "regular girl": Debra Whitman

• Dark past involving some serious daddy issues: Mary Jane Watson

They couldn't have given her mommy issues or problems with authority figures in general. To be fair, comic books are drenched with characters with daddy issues. Cyclops is the walking example. 

• Idolized within the comics and sometimes praised as "The One" for Peter: Gwen Stacy

As opposed to in fan's memories, some point out that Gwen Stacy hated Spider Man. That's another sad thing about her death: she died hating the guy she loved.

• Dad was a cop: Gwen

To justify Carlie's relationship with Gwen, they made her dad a cop. Later it was revealed that he wasn't a cop nor a good man for that matter. This goes back to the daddy issues thing as we are supposed to feel bad for her, but it came across as cheap and not genuinely tragic as MJ's abusive past. Also, Carlie has a missing mother like Gwen.

• Served as an informant on the force: Jean DeWolff

Whereas Jean had an interesting dynamic with Spider-Man, Carlie's dynamuc seems forced in, rationalized as sharing his love of science. Everything Carlie does could have easily been solved by Spider Man or any of his allies, even Greer Grant.

• Peter vs Spider-Man conflict: Black Cat

Carlie was briefly torn between Parker and Spider Man after discovering the big secret. It took Felicia decades in real time and a few years in comic book time for her to accept Parker but by then he had already moved on to MJ and BC decided to move on as well.

• Fell in love with Parker persona: Gwen, MJ, Sophia from Marvel Adventures

Gwen hated Spider Man though, but she fell in love with Peter. MJ preferred plain old Peter and accepted Spider Man. Sophia played an active role in both Peter's civilian and superhero lives and used her mutant ability to talk to animals to help.

• Personality included being a tsundere: Gwen, and Michelle Gonzales before she went nuts

• Had an interest in science: Gwen

NOTICING A PATTERN HERE!?

• Friends with Harry: Gwen Stacy (again)

• Was depicted as blonde and began with a minor crush on Parker: GWEN STACY!!!

Wow is it just me or do the writers at Marvel lowkey want to resurrect Gwen Stacy? Damn, just let the lady rest in peace!

• Pushed as Peter's intellectual equal: Debra (give us two points for Debby)

• Supposed to have a fun, sociable personality: MJ

Did I mention that Carlie at one time was depicted with red hair with a very similar hairstyle to MJ? They weren't even trying to be subtle with the replacement thing.

• Loves both Spider Man and Peter: MJ  also an inversion of Black Cat who only really likes Spidey (she was kinda getting along with Peter but that never took off)

• Went from meek and submissive doormat to assertive and optimistic action girl: Betty Brant

• Named after a particular person given the context behind it: Joe Quesada named her after his daughter

From what I heard, Joe's daughter was around three years old when he shat out OMD. That is very creepy, as if he wants his toddler to be with a fictional character that bad.

When Doc Ock impersonated as Peter after his supposed death, Carlie was the only cast member out of the whole Marvel universe to correctly figure out that Doc!Peter was a faker.

Mary Jane and Aunt May were used to villains dressing up as Peter (and even beat up a few of them), but for some odd reason none of them could figure out the Dcotor Octopus was posing as him. 

Depsite MJ being his main love interest and Aunt May having raised him from a kid, they could not have told the real Peter from an impostor.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR AND THE AVENGERS COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT DEPSITE WORKING WITH PETER FOR YEARS!!!!!

Yet is was the great detective work of Ms. Carlie Cooper that was able to determine that Doctor Octopus was using Peter's body to do some bad things. You know, like a villain.

Speaking of the Doctor, Dan Slott often used him a lot in his stories to the point that fans believe that Doc Ock was becoming a bit of a Villain Sue. And their arguments were sadly proven right later on, but back onto Carlie...

The way she did this was by following Spider Man's money trail to see how he could afford expensive equilment and minions  (excuse me, employees) and it leads right to Doc Ock.

The simple fact that one of Spider Man's smartest foes was stupid enough to not cover his tracks showed that something had to be altered just to make Carlie look good. What was that something? Taking basic common sense out of the Marvel Universe so that Carlie could play Miss Marple!

When Carlie got infected with Goblin Serum and turned into Monster (the lamest villain name since Menace), she was the only person to ever resist its brainwashing effects. She gets some scars around her eyes but is otherwise fully cured and that experience is enough to make her leave the world of Spider Man forever.

In the story arc Spider Island, Carlie broke up with Peter just because he didn't tell her he was Spider Man. Alternatively MJ got closer to Peter, which made fans everywhere sigh with relief. This also proves how very little Carlie seems to care about Peter's side of the story.

Also in Spider Island she used her new powers to play around while MJ used hers to actually help people. When a supermodel is better at heroics than a police officer/forensic scientist, then you know something is wrong.

Mary Jane stayed with Peter when she found out, in fact she already knew it was him but didn't confront him because she didn't think of herself as a good confidante and feared Peter would lie to her but she understood why.

It was implied in the comics and stated by old writers that, had Gwen not been killed off she would have eventually found out about Peter being Spider man and stayed with him; they would have even gotten married.

Carlie managed to pop up in other Marvel titles such as The Punisher even though she was irrelevant to the plot, and the writers claim that she was "the sanest member of the cast." This was after her irresponsible antics during Spider Island.

Character shilling when not appropriate

One of Carlie's major problems was how she was pushed as being perfect for Peter without getting to know him. It became even more egregious when other characters started pushing Carlie as perfect, such as Auny May and Harry Osborn.

Mary Jane told Peter that he needed to hook up with Carlie, which was awkward coming from a woman who was married to him for twenty years.

Peter himself couldn't stop gushing over how perfect Carlie was for him, and he spent a lot of time in angst over how undeserving he was of their lust - I mean love.

Everyone, from Harry Osborn to Black Cat said that Carlie was perfect for Peter. I get Harry because he was friends with her, but Black Cat???? The real clencher was that Felicia didn't even know who Carlie was at the time.

No wonder she turned crazy at the end.

SPEAKING OF CRAZY!

Characters personalities were changed in order to make Carlie a total saint

For example, Michelle Gonzales (another hated Spidey Love Interest) used to be a regular old tsundere. Sure she had problems of her own as a character, but once Carlie was introduced her aggressive trait was exaggerated to violent extremes and Michelle begins abusing Peter. If that's not enough she eventually gets RAPED by the Chameleon of all people. The same Chameleon who got his ass beat by Mary Jane and verbally pawned by Aunt May for impersonating Peter.

No matter how Marvel tried to say it, no matter how bitchy she was, Michelle got raped and Chameleon got off scot-free.

I mean he didn't force himself on her just shapeshifted as Peter and had sex with her. Apparently shapeshifters can't be charged with rape as long as it's consensual.

In The Many Loves of Spider Man, Gwen Stacy was presented as a worry wart which goes against her original characterization as a proto-Tsundere. Carlie was presented as a gutsy young girl, which made her look smarter than the supposed science girl Gwen was.

Gets mad at Peter for the dumbest reasons

When Peter had to go on a mission for the Future Foundation (aka the Fantastic Four), he told Carlie that he was going out of town for Horizon Labs, the place he had worked for before becoming Tony Stank 2.0.

Naturally, Carlie found out that Peter had lied to her and during one of her roller derby competitions, ends up beating up a rival skater so badly that she was suspended for the rest kf the game.  Afterwards, her team took her out for a drink to calm her down and she gets drunk and goes to a tattoo parlor.

Deciding to get back at Peter, she decided to get an Osborn tattoo, more specifically a Green Goblin.

This was the man that murdered her childhood friend, Peter's first girlfriend and first true love (and to some fans his only true love).

This was the man that ended the Silver Age of Comic Books.

This was the man who killed innocent people just to get what he want.

This was the man who subjected his son and other people to so much pain, misery and sorrow because of his actions, some of which he still had yet to answer for.

But yet.....

You decide to get a tramp stamp of Green Goblin all to spite Peter because he lied to keep you separate from his superhero life?

I'm surprised that everyone who ever did a rant on Carlie never brought this part up. This woman would go as far as to taint her own friend's memory by getting a tattoo of her killer, all just to spite a guy she barely knew for not even a year. And this guy loved her friend.

When Peter finally told Carlie the truth, she broke up with him in yhe most melodramatic way possible. She claimed that his life was a lie and that his Parker persona was "just a suit."

She was also upset that Mary Jane knew about it, even though MJ and Peter were friends far longer than she knew Peter, and he trusted MJ with that secret. Eventually, Carlie accepts the Spidey persona, leaving her with a good reason to hang out with Mary Jane.

I have problems with the above scene because Peter lied to protect her and to keep her out of a very dangerous lifestyle. Yet, she does not want to hear his side of the story and the writers fail to persuade the readers to sympathize with her. This scene also shows that she is a complete and utter hypocrite. She can keep secrets like the identity of the new Wraith (and unlike Vin and Ray she doesn't turn the new Wraith over to the police), yet Peter cannot lie to her for very good reasons.

Featured on "Many Loves of Spider Man" - when Carlie and Peter had not hooked up yet. 

At the time Carlie was still a minor character and not engaged in a romance with Peter. Yet for some odd reason she was featured on the cover with characters people grew up with and came to love.

Carlie was not featured in s single comic yet was immediately pushed as one of Peter's many loves. Debra should have been here, or Betty since she was his very first girlfriend. And how come it's called Many when the cover only has four? 🤔

Closing Statements

The positives of Carlie is that she was shown a lot more capable of handling herself in dangerous situations than MJ and Gwen, and even willing to pick up a gun. But MJ was never a traditional damsel in distress; the lady took boxing lessons from Captain America for God's Sake! OG Gwen was never a fighter in the first place and to be honest, she was supposed to be a tsundere. She had a personality, and no matter how people say that Gwen was a boring character who deserved to be killed off, she wasn't in need of no saving while she was alive.

Okay except for that one time.

Others say that Carlie was being unfairly judged because she wasn't like Mary Jane. In contrast, Sophia Sanduval wasn't like Mary Jane and people love her (assuming they know who she is). Sophia is regarded to be one of the best Spider Man love interests. Ursula wasn't Mary Jane and people love her; fans who watched the original trilogy preferred a Peter x Ursula romance because MJ was that bad. There are even people who watched Ultimate Spider Man that started to ship Aya with Peter based on a few ship tease scenes, and she wasn't MJ.

On Quotev, AO3 and right here on Wattpad, you have dozens if not hundreds of Peter Parker x OC fanfictions, many that are amazing and written by pretty talented people. OCs aren't canon in the first place, but the OCs I'd seen (talking about the well-defined ones here) aren't MJ and I have not seen one negative comment about OCs or their creators. In fact people love them because they demonstrate how you can have a unique and relatable love interest without copying canon characters.

Final Statements

Overall, the problems Carlie have are she has inconsistent characterization, tries so hard to be the Perfect Girl for Peter, and she is irrelevant to the plot. If you take away her core traits she just ends up being a flat, boring character.

In conclusion, Carlie is a textbook case of Relationship and Black Hole Sue, and should be used as an example of what not to do when creating love interests. The key is to develop a character over time and not spending so much on making her (or him if any of you prefer same-sex pairings) the perfect girl/man/whatever for Peter or whatever random character you plan on shipping with.

Anyways, that's all I have to say about Carlie. Yeah it was a lot of words but I wanted to show and tell why so many Spider Man fans do not like her. It's not that she replaced Mary Jane, it's because she tried way to hard to be so many different characters and her general unlikable attitude and the subtext behind her whole creation.

Most upscale salons turned their noses up.  But not ‘The Hive’, who not only welcomed her into their salon, but encouraged her wild side. And in turn, brought in many who wanted their own set of wildly coloured locks.    Things always have a way of working out for her.

This is a roller derby AU where all the girls are on a team but also a team outside the course.

Beta-less all mistakes are mine.

Of or on the course everyone knew not to mess with the Queens of Hell. They were fierce and powerful and no one could no longer remember when they had last lost at anything. But the eldest in the midst of the gatherings for the derbies whispered to the young ones, that they hadn’t lost a single time. Not since they joined forces. Not since hateful looks towards one another had been replaced by affection. The only affection ever seen from either of the three was towards each other and now the princess.

Even pregnant Abaddon had had stayed on the skates until the baby was about ready to pop out of her. No one had dared to even come near her then. Everyone knew if they did their next ride would be to the hospital. One sole look from Meg or Ruby and the women who even dared the thought of taking the woman that carried the child out, would feel fear running cold down their backs. No one knew who the father was, maybe she did herself and maybe she didn’t, but everyone also knew it didn’t matter. It didn’t matter because the little girl was a Princess of Hell. She didn’t have one mother, she had three and who the hell needs a father with moms like that?

She would learn how to skate like to other. To slam any opponent against the wall. To not care what anyone in the world thought of her. She would be loved by women that didn’t know love for anyone else that each other and her.

On or of the course nobody would ever get in her mothers’ way, if they did their would be hell to pay. That was how Adriel would be raised. By three guardians who were feared by all and was scared of no one. Adriel would grow up to be the most feared Queen to ever set blades on the course, her mothers were going to make sure of it.

"Brock," Evan groaned, coming to a stop in front of the co-coach. "Del is bothering meeee," he said, pointing an accusing finger in a vague direction he assumed Jon to be in.

Brock rolled his eyes but a smile tugged at his lips. "Uh huh," he hummed, "what's he been doing?"

Jon came up behind Evan, transitioning around the Canadian and flipping onto his toe stops. "I've done nothin!" he said. "Evan pushed me 'n I was tryin to knock him back!"

Brock glanced to Evan. "Did you push him, Ev?" he asked.

Evan shrugged. "No. Why would I do that?"

"Fair point," Brock agreed. "Jon, give me 6 laps, one hundred percent."

"Huh- what?! How is that- that isn't fair!" Jon exclaimed, glaring. "He pushed me first!"

Brock tapped his foot and glanced to Evan.

Evan smiled innocently. "He's lying."

Jon huffed and crossed his arms. "This- this is bullying!" he accused, "an abuse of power!"

Brock fought back a laugh but Evan had no fear and let one out.

"Relax, Deli," he cooed, scooting over with a teasing grin. "I was kidding- come on, you can hit me a few times if ya want," he said.

"Wait- wait," Brock stepped between them. "You were lying?" he asked. "Sorry Ev, but that means you get to give me 6 laps."

Evan looked at Brock. "Funny, Brock," he laughed lightly but then it grew into a nervous chuckle as he noticed Brock held a straight face. "You- uh... You were joking... Right?"

Brock pulled out his phone from his pocket, opening up a timer. "You have one minute."

Evan's eyes widened and he nearly fell as he sped into track lines.

Jon laughed lightly and glanced to Brock. "You're the best, Moo," he patted his shoulder before he skated off, probably to bully Evan.

“You should work on backwards skating,” Anthony said, leaning on the wall as he watched Tyler strap up his skates. 

Tyler grumbled at that, the idea of backwards skating just wasn’t... enjoyable to him. That was the only way he knew how to phrase it. He wasn’t afraid of going backwards and its not like he didn’t know how, he just wasn’t a fan. “Do I have to?” he decided to ask.

Anthony nodded, smiling a bit but it was mostly out of sympathy. “Sorry,” he shrugged. “If the rest of the team has to practice it that means you do to.” He then leaned down to mumble to Tyler; “If you do well, I’ll treat you and Brian to Dinner.”

Tyler waved him off after that. Fine, he thought. He’d do it, but only because Anthony asked so nicely. And, totally not because he was already loving the sound of dinner.

So, he got onto the track and started forward before transitioning around once he gained enough speed. After that he began to work on things like backwards crossovers and keeping his balance and speed alright. At one point he even had Evan help him with sliding from one side of the track to the other quickly.

Point was, he was doing fine. 

But, then he noticed Brian had lined up in front of him and Tyler dreaded that because he knew what it meant.

“I swear to god, Bri,” he warned.

Brian laughed lightly. “I’m just gonna give ye a little tap,” he said. “Or, maybe a hit- I’ll decide once I get going.”

“No- Brain,” Tyler warned, glaring lightly as he carefully sped up, glancing over his shoulder to make sure he was clear before glaring forward again. “I’d rather not break my back,” he added.

“You’ll be fine,” Brian argued back, grinning a bit, “And, Ant gave the go ahead because you need to work on blocking backwards,” he shrugged and sped up a bit. 

Tyler gasped and glared towards the coach, who noticed and ducked behind the wall quickly.

“Brian- if you hit me I’m going to kill you,” he looked forward, screaming as he saw the Irishman heading at him full speed. He pushed up onto his toe stops on reflex and crouched. Brian nailed him in the shoulder- which hurt like a bitch and Tyler knew a bruise would be forming-, and, instead of Tyler going down, Brian was knocked back and he fell flat on his ass.

Tyler’s heart stopped once it all caught up to him and he gasped softly. “Bri- are you okay?” he asked after noticing the shaking shoulders- he’d die if he hurt Brian enough to make him cry. But, he relaxed as Brian looked up with a cheerful laugh. 

“That was amazing, Ty!” he cheered, throwing his arms into the air before he carefully got up. “It was like hitting a fucking building,” he laughed again, “You’re so tough!” 

Tyler huffed, but smiled a little. “Fucker- I thought you got hurt,” he sighed and watched as Evan passed by with a laugh as Jon tried to stop him. “I believe I told you not hit me though,” he added, cracking his knuckles. “I think I’ve earned a turn.

Brian’s eyes widened and he nervously laughed before booking it, crouching down under Tyler’s outstretched arm. “Later!” he exclaimed, rushing away. 

Tyler laughed, because he mostly didn’t mean it. But, part of him also wanted to kill both of his boyfriend’s. So, he followed after Brian.
