Camila Cabello Kickstarts Her New Era With a TikTok Concert Filled With Surreal Style

Who says you have to crowd into a stadium to hear your favorite musician play? Thanks to technology, the concert has experienced an overhaul. Case in point: Camila Cabello’s latest endeavor, an immersive live experience on TikTok. Today’s Familia: Welcome to the Family event promises to take her fans on a tour of Cabello’s current realities—virtual and otherwise. At once a preview of her forthcoming album, Familia, and an overview of the star’s confident new style, the concert is her most ambitious project to date.

The technology behind the event is impressive. Created using extended reality XR tech, it allowed Cabello’s performance to be layered with digital environments to create a surreal feeling. “The way we did it with XR, the concert is part music video and part live show,” Cabello explains. “That meant we could be as creative and inventive as we wanted to be.” The step into an unexplored new world immediately made Cabello think of Lewis Caroll’s classic children’s books, but she didn’t want to draw inspiration solely from literature. “[The visuals] are a little bit like Alice in Wonderland, but it’s also just a snapshot of a vision inside my head telling the stories of the songs,” she says.

The team created multiple rooms to tell those tales, each dedicated to a specific hit. Stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn then matched the interior design of each space to a chic piece from the runways. “Each look was chosen according to the room,” says Cabello. “For example, “La Buena Vida” was very Spanish and mariachi inspired, so we chose a hot pink, tulle Carolina Herrera Bolero to create a modern take on Mexican style.” Likewise, the set dedicated to “Psycho Freak” sees the star transform into a Mugler bombshell thanks to a neon catsuit. The party segment kicks off with her wearing Saint Laurent’s burgundy latex cocktail attire.

Though the looks chosen offer a brief overview of trends from the latest collections, Cabello also wanted the pieces she wore to reflect her principles. “I love being able to express myself not only in my music but also in my style, and sustainability is incredibly important to me,” she says. Sourcing pieces from Dutch designer Roland van der Kemp’s RVDK Couture collection, an ethically crafted range made from archival fabrics and textile factory waste, she added an environmentally conscious element to her concert wardrobe. “The RVDK couture makes sustainability look glamorous and sexy,” says Cabello. “[Still] my favorite piece was the upcycled Project Trashure Couture dress made from a mix of textile trash and felt with ‘digital does street art’ spray-painted on it.”

Airing live on TikTok at 4 p.m. PST tonight, then rebroadcast three more times throughout the week, the concert is sure to become required viewing amongst the platform's 1 billion active users. Having that many eyes on a project ups the ante, but Cabello is most excited for her fans to see her kickstart a new era in music and fashion. “Every part of this process was a way to express my creativity,” she says. “I’m now in a place where I am excited to try new things while also figuring out how to be comfortable and put together in my everyday style. [In the concert] we cover every mood, and you’re going to feel that when you tune in on Thursday!”

Phoebe Dynevor Traded Bridgerton Pastels For A Puff-Sleeved LBD At The BAFTAs

On Sunday, the buzziest names in TV and film gathered — some via Zoom, some in-person — at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. This year, BAFTA attendees were tasked with dressing sustainably for the event, which led to Celeste wearing a gown from green fashion brand Dilara Findikoglu, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas donning a Roland van Der Kemp two-piece from the designer’s ethical autumn ’20 couture collection. Another best-dressed winner? Bridgerton‘s Phoebe Dynevor, who swapped out her on-screen pastels for a custom LBD by Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.

For her first in-person red carpet appearance since the Regency-era series was released in December 2020 (and subsequently watched by over 82 million people), Dynevor wore a black, one-shouldered gown with a single long, statement sleeve and a corseted bodice. With the dress — which apart from the colour, gave some serious Daphne Bridgerton vibes — Dynevor wore diamond-and-emerald drop earrings and a flower-shaped cocktail ring, both of which are also Louis Vuitton.

British actresses Ashley Madekwe and Cynthia Erivo both, too, wore Louis Vuitton for the award show. Madekwe, who was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in County Lines, wore a chartreuse, cut-out gown custom-made by Ghesquière. Meanwhile, Erivo — with the help of stylist Jason Bolden — chose a beaded mini dress from the brand’s autumn ’21 collection.

Пять главных бьюти-трендов с Недели моды в Париже

Неделю высокой моды в Париже по праву можно считать главным смотром как модных, так и бьюти-трендов будущего сезона. Гофрированные пряди популярные в 1990-х, необычные конские хвосты, розовые тени для век, броский мейк в виде широких и длинных стрелок — разберем самые интересные и запоминающиеся бьюти-образы с показов.

Гофрированные пряди

Судя по всему, стилисты парижской Недели моды в этом сезоне вспомнили про горячий стайлер с насадкой гофре (и если раньше с помощью него придавали волосам густоту или прикорневой объем, то сейчас использует всем знакомый бьюти-инструмент по полной программе). На показе Christophe Josse прически получились не такими пышными, за счет того, что парикмахеры решили выделить только пряди у лица. А на шоу Ronald van der Kemp похожая укладка выглядела уже более объемно (стилисты просто-напросто хорошенько расчесали волосы моделей).

Конский хвост и его необычные вариации

Конские хвосты также не сдают своих позиций — только теперь они выглядят гораздо интереснее. Стилисты Iris van Herpen разделили волосы моделей на небольшие пряди и асимметрично закрепили их тонкими резинками, а на показе Christian Dior волосы девушек были выпрямлены, гладко расчесаны и собраны в хвосты низко на затылке. Их обернули жгутами так, чтобы хвосты напоминали рукоятки хлыстов (любительницам графичных и строгих причесок этот нехитрый прием стоит взять на заметку). Кажется, это будет одна из самых популярных причесок в новом сезоне.

Розовые тени

Розовый стал одним из главных тонов не только в палитре дизайнеров, но и визажистов. Линда Кантелло для моделей на показе Armani Prive создала современный мейк с мотивами из 50-х, 60-х и 80-х годов. Основой цветовой гаммой стал как раз розовый, к слову, вместо привычных теней она использовала блеск для губ Lip Magnet в оттенке Maharajah. Визажист на показе Ralph & Russo сочетал розовые тени с насыщенным фиолетовым лайнером и яркой помадой.

Чтобы розовые тени не сделали лицо уставшим, не забудьте подвести глаза темным карандашом, щедро прокрасьте ресницы тушью и сделайте тон идеально ровным. Также слегка затемните верхнюю складку века — это добавит взгляду глубину.

Яркие широкие стрелки

Стрелки в наступающем сезоне могут быть как четкими и графичными, так и расплывчатыми и слегка растушеванными, но обязательно широкими и заметными. Самые выдающиеся «кошачьи» стрелки нарисовал на веках моделей для показа Fendi Питер Филипс. Том Пешо для кутюрной коллекции Chanel создал макияж с темными смоки и изумрудными стрелками, а Пэт Макграт для шоу Valentino использовала целую палитру цветов: ярко-красный, зеленый, изумрудный, но особенно эффектно смотрелся синий электрик.

Прилизанные укладки с прямым пробором

Наверняка вас тоже сразил о��раз Кайи Гербер на показе Valentino в пышном розовом платье из перьев и с высоченным начесом, но остальные дизайнеры все как один намекают нам на то, что теперь в моде «мокрые» укладки с прямым пробором. Многим запомнились своеобразные прически на показе Miu Miu, созданные международным креативным директором по стайлингу Redken Гвидо Палау. Ума Турман и Кейт Босуорт прошлись по подиуму с волосами, будто вымоченными в масле. Для такого эффекта, стилист обильно нанес от корней до самых кончиков моделирующий гель Hardwear Gel 16, затем взбил их руками, сбрызнул спрей-блеском Shine Flash 02 и зафиксировал укладку лаком Forceful 23 (все средства — марки Redken).

Укладки на шоу Dior Couture, Giambattista Valli, Pamella Roland, Schiaparelli, Givenchy тоже не стали исключением. Хотим мы этого или нет, очевидно, что полное отсутствие объема в укладке — это новый тренд, поэтому судорожно начесывать волосы у корней и закреплять все это литрами лака, больше не нужно.
