She hadn't had a chance to bump into him at the games, but when she saw the familiar face lounging at the Country Club, she figured now was as good of a time as any to stroll on over. "Rohan," She addressed him with a nod of her head, all too aware of how he had seemed to be avoiding her ever since the Council verdict to agree, out of respect to the coven, not to allow Rohan to join their organizations should the time come, not that they even could anyhow, seeing that he was still a witch. A verdict that she had brought up to the Council to overturn, not that it mattered. While, she had always held a soft spot for Rohan, having viewed him to be her friend, a title that she did not hand out easily, the past few weeks had made her consider that maybe she had been wrong. But, even if their friendship was now strained, he deserved to hear the news from her. "Congratulations on your nuptials. I heard it was a beautiful wedding. I wanted to stop over to let you know that, if the situation arises, though I know you have no plans on it given how Jonah feels on the matter, you'd be welcome to join the clan. I spoke to the Council about it and got the order overturned. Though, I have a feeling one of the other leaders might have beat me to the news. Anyhow, enjoy your day," She offered up with an eased shrug, not wanting to take up too much of his time when she seemed to not be a person he wanted to engage with as of recent.

“You’re kidding,” Meena sank back down in her seat with a sigh, having been looking forward to seeing those photos, but at last. “You mean like Steve Jobs?” She blinked over at him with a curve of her brow. “A requirement to be a Theatre Kid is to look like a Steve Jobs wannabe?” She asked, not bothering to hide the judgement in her voice. “You know what’s also a distinctly young thing to do? Complain about how old you’re becoming,” she pointed out. A giggle breaking from her lips all the same. Only as Rohan continued on, Meena’s smirk faltered. With a tired sigh, she found herself sinking back into her seat. Her lashes falling closed as she let out another deep breath before finally murmuring, “I don’t take offense. If anything, I wish you were right. Sometimes I find missing the girl who cared too much," She admitted quietly. Sometimes being far more often than not. It was a hard reality to know that the person you were now paled in comparison to the person you used to be. And yet, she had dug her own grave. It was right for her to lie in it like a champ. "But, I'm afraid I may have lost the propensity to be that girl along time ago."
Rohan laughed. "Of course I do. Thankfully, though, those were the days of digital cameras, not phones. They're all lost now, lost to the great SD card pit in the sky." He wrinkled up his nose, an expression of good humor. "Hey! I've got at least one very serious and scholarly and writer-ly black turtleneck. They're mandatory, you know. You don't get to graduate theatre school without one," he joked at his own expense. "But if I'm a baby, I think I deserve to be less tired, don't you? One's senses are not supposed to fail him so young. I can believe it, though. But I don't think emotions are bad things. We're here to feel, after all. At least centuries of poetry and music would have me believe as much." He smiled gently, shrugging his shoulders. "We start in medias res, of course. That's where all epics start, and I fear we have no other choice by this point. In any case, though, I don't think you're heartless or indifferent, if that's worth anything. I think quite the contrary. You wear all the hallmarks of a person who cares too much. And I say that with affection and respect and the genuine hope you don't take sincerity for offense."

LOCATION: Echo Acres hiking trails TIME: August Full Moon, any time before moonrise WHO: -CLOSED/CAPPED-
Returning to Lunar Cove just in time for a full moon was either going to be a blessing or a curse, and Nico didn’t expect any middle ground between the two. He’d made his way through addressing the pack—picking up on a lot of eyebrows and speculation as he did. Although, it really didn’t go as badly as he’d feared, and there seemed to be more relief on faces than there was doubt about his abilities. That all could change in a moment once the moon rose, though. For so long now it had just been him and Esha, out alone and doing their best to manage the changes wherever they were—hiding in caves in national parks, sticking to the edges of small towns, and on more than one miserable occasion they’d had to make do with a fortified basement or cellar. He was glad those days were behind him, but if someone was going to test his strength as Alpha, he feared that tonight might be their opening.
But he remembered a lot of the routine his mother had drilled into him like it was yesterday. A good Alpha, she would say, doesn’t just concern herself with how the pack functions on a full moon, but also secures the area before they change, to make sure no one wanders where they shouldn’t. The pack runs were reserved for their use alone, but it was important to double-check the surrounding area just in case. With that in mind, he approved scouts to head out to the various borders of the runs, checking to make sure the trails were well and truly emptied. They’d reported back a few stragglers, escorted them out to safety. Now he was making his own rounds, skirting the edges of the woods with his senses sharp. He picked up a scent, and walked towards it, hands in his pockets and a smile on his face as he approached a figure turned away from him. “Hey, there. I’m a volunteer with the park staff. These trails are closed for the night, do you need help finding your way out?” he offered casually. His mother had always said it was fine to frighten them a bit if it got the job done, but Nico wanted to avoid that if he could. It always left a sour taste in his mouth.

{Meena would gift Rohan with backstage passes & tickets to any broadway show of his choice. A stretch limo would arrive to pick him up and he can enjoy the show from a private balcony.}
Happy to provide inspiration for your show.

“You’re welcome,” She told him. Her softened gaze, however, was quick to sharpen as both of their expressions settled. “No one would speak up for you, got it,” Meena’s tongue clicked against the roof of her mouth, having nothing else to say in regards to the matter. He was more than entitled to his own opinion and she wasn’t about to fight to change it. He could believe what he wanted about her. Everyone else already did and, frankly, this conversation seemed all too familiar to the ones she kept on having to have. Every breath she took, every move she made, was always scrutinized by someone or another. Same book. Different font and, as unfortunate as it may be, her propensity to care was waning. It wasn't Rohan's fault, but with constantly having to explain oneself, one's patience grew thin. He was someone she cared about and, a few months ago, the thought of him holding any sort of animosity toward her would have been heart-wrenching, even if she would have disguised her emotions better than the best of them. But, now? As he continued on, all she felt was numb. A feeling she hadn't felt since her own ex-husband had come at her. Teddy's words echoed in her head even now. You care more about material things than you do about people. And while, she'd like to say it wasn't true, he probably had been right.
A cold indifference filled her gaze as she finally spoke up, telling Rohan without a hint of emotion in her voice, “If your relationships grew complicated with anyone else in this town that is on you or the actions of the coven for choosing to strip you of your magic. Not on me. Now, what I am about to say might sound cruel and I do apologize for that, but you cannot be exiled from a group you aren't nor have you ever been qualified to join. You aren't a vampire. You have never been a vampire and, unless you decide to watch your newly wed husband die for a life of immortality, given how he has explicitly vocalized to both of us that he has no desire nor will he ever turn of his own accord, you will likely never become a vampire. That is the reality. So, you’re more than entitled to act as though a scarlet letter was bestowed upon you, but, until your heart stops beating and you know what it’s like to have actually died, nothing changed for you."
"The organizations are optional for a reason as, while they are intended to be helpful resource, they've never been a necessity. Regardless of one's affiliation, every resident in town has a level of protection and, as Mayor and your friend, I figured it was a given that I see through to that," She explained. Her dark eyes falling to the ground as she shook her head once more. "I did try to find you." She had stopped by his place and the Pendulum. She had even spoken to Jonah, checking in to see how he might be doing. "But, you were keeping your distance and, up until now, I didn’t realize you had a problem with me. You never vocalized such and, while I may be able to read some minds, Rohan, yours is not one of them. I thought we were fine. I figured after everything that had happened with the coven that you would need time to process and I didn’t want to crowd you before you were ready. I only caught on to the fact that you might be avoiding me specifically as of recent. Though, if we’re being honest, it wasn’t my place to be the one to break the news to you regardless. As a member of the coven, it was Poppy’s job to represent you, just as it was her job to explain the verdict to you. She was the one who should have communicated it to you. If I stepped in, I'd be overstepping another leader's authority and, it's not like I could know when or if she had spoken to you when the only time I've seen you has been in a room full of people while we were all being held hostage."
"You can believe I should have tried harder to track you down across town and maybe you’re right. Maybe I should have, but I have to make tough decisions daily in those meetings and I can not nor will I chase down someone who doesn’t want to be found so that I can bend over backwards apologizing for a decision I agreed to, because you are right in the fact that I made a choice and I would do it again. Is that what you want to hear? I truly believe that me speaking up in that room would have only made things worse for you in the long run and you can believe differently to your heart's content. But, unless you can prove such, I don't regret playing the long game. Unlike the other leaders, as Mayor, I have the entire town to be considering and am expected to consistently place everyone above myself which I do time and time again. But, I can't be everything for everyone and I don't hide the fact that I will chose this town over you, your neighbors or my own well being over and over. The fact that I can step into a room, be completely unbiased and make the hard calls is why you all voted me into this position. I have never hide that I am cold, uncaring and heartless. So, I'm sorry to say, but I don't really care if any of this makes you feel better. Though, you are wrong about one thing. I wasn't simply choosing the Clan. I was choosing the decision I thought would strategically be the best in the long run for everyone and I'm sorry I didn't react the way you wanted me to. But, I was trying to protect you. I wasn't the loudest voice in the room and, yes, I was also trying to protect the Clan, the political relationships I have with other organizations, myself and my own reputation. I'm not going to deny that I have other people to consider or that I'm selfish. I don't think this has to be a turning point, but I can see why it may feel that way to you and I'm not going to try to disregard your stance either. If you think our friendship will never be the same again, so be it."
"Ask JC," She told him, not about to disclose any more than she already had. If he wanted to know which human was protected by the pack, he was more than capable of finding out himself. "Though wow. I'm sorry. When was I supposed to be there for you when you were captured by hunters and having your hand smashed exactly? Because last time I checked, I was the first person to be voted in. I volunteered to be tortured on your behalf. On all of your behalves before anyone in this town stepped up to offer their name. But, you were on your own? So, me offering my life up on a silver platter meant nothing? Okay. Understood. Loud and clear." Her voice broke slightly. A flicker of pain caught across her gaze before vanishing as quickly as it appeared. Offering up a defeated shrug to the witch before her, she simple said, "I think we're done here."
Rohan nodded. "Thank you. Really. It was everything I could have hoped for and more," he replied, a weak smile flashing across his lips. It did not quite last, however, his expression settling again into a distant sort of listlessness. "I don't know what else it could mean, Meena. No one would speak up for me. In such a way that it complicated my relationship with other people not on the Council but still in their respective groups. It was very Scarlet Letter, wasn't it? Live here as an exile because if you go out there, you're dead." He gestured vaguely toward the distance, where the barrier lay.
Turning back, Rohan met her eye. "Hey, you didn't come find me either, Meena. You didn't text me and say, 'hey, Ro, let me explain what happened because I understand that from the outside it looks a certain way.' I heard from Nico, and Poppy came over to talk to me in third-person that she didn't fight hard enough against...I don't even know. The thing she did herself. I can't even with her right now." He pressed his hands to his temples, scrunching his eyes.
"Because all we have are choices. I made a choice, so I'm living with the consequences of it. Everyone in that Council Room made a choice. I don't think things will ever again be the way they once were. It was a turning point, wasn't it?" He sighed, shaking his head. But falling quiet, he allowed her to talk, his shoulders slumping. "Well, it doesn't matter now anyway. I do dark magic all the time these days," he muttered, shaking his head. "And yes, I broke the Accords. I don't disagree or dispute that. I earned a punishment. I'm still allowed to not be sainted about it." He rolled his shoulders.
"Everything you're saying is true, Meena. Vouching for me would have made you look bad in that moment. I hope you can understand that doesn't make it feel any better. You chose the Clan. I can understand that is your duty. But again, you chose. JC chose. Poppy chose. Me being some kind of Machiavellian agenda point on the cosmic chess board doesn't make it any better. And maybe it doesn't have to be better, and maybe it cant be better. I don't know." He closed his eyes. "Which human has pack protection, by the way? I have an inkling. Given what I know about who I know." He shook his head.
"No, I'm not a vampire. I'm barely even a witch anymore. And I'm not saying that is your fault. But I don't know what to believe, Meena. You chose the Clan. Which is your duty and your right. I don't think I was a long-term consideration for anyone in that room that day, no. You're telling me that I was, but I was on my own when I was captured by hunters and had my hand smashed to bits." He knit his brow. "Poppy doesn't represent me. She didn't in that meeting. She doesn't now. I don't blame you for that. But I just don't...I don't know where to go from here." He met her eye. "I was hurt, Meena. Knowing there were circumstances doesn't make it hurt less. You did what you had to do. I did what I did. All we can do now is live in it."
#rohan ft. meena#c: meena#I said she did look for him given that I asked you for threads for them to talk but you said you had so many on Rohan at the moment lol#don't blame her for ooc stuff haha#should we end this here?

"Yes, so more of Jonah's decision than yours and I'm aware, love. Jonah and I have caught up since. It sounded lovely. Congrats truly," She offered up with an eased shrug, without a hint of animosity in her voice. She may be the queen of snide remarks, but her question had hardly to do with the guest list at his wedding and everything to do with her simply checking to see who on the Council he had been avoiding too outside of her and the Supreme that is. "Was it or are we merely disagreeing on the definition of what 'on your own' means?" She countered. Though, she didn't bother to say anymore until he actually told her to tell him. "You want to hear what happened?" She curved a brow up at him in question, finding it a tad hard to believe given that he had just declared what had gone down as stone cold fact. But, sure. He wanted to hear her out. "Okay, well, what I would have told you if you had come to voice your frustrations to me rather than- what would would you like to use rather than avoid, hm?" She took a second to see if he'd fill in the gap with some other sort of adjective.
"You were one of the last agenda points in a rather long meeting. A meeting that Nico had left the room for, leaving JC to act in his stead, which you can stay voids him of responsibility or believe, as I do, that delegating, whether intentionally or not, is still a choice, just as appointing an advisor to act in one's stead should the situation call for it is. Now, JC and I had gone head to head two meetings in a row and, earlier in the meeting, I happened to call him out on interfering in species business outside of the wolves. He was trying to declare a human as an unofficial pack member who warranted pack protection, which as you know, isn't exactly how things work. As leaders, our jobs are to represent our own factions and to act as unbiased as we can when it comes to business that doesn't pertain our organization. A stance I had made abundantly clear I believed in before your name was brought up and it bit me in the ass. But I made such a stance to protect a vampire which is my job to do and I stand by it. So, after we had continued to go head to head all meeting long, it finally came down to you. I made it abundantly clear that you should not be tried for the use of dark magic as dark magic isn't against the accords even if the Coven is against it. But, you weren't being tried by the Council for the use of dark magic. The reason your name was even brought up was because the spell you performed went against the accords. Your spell would and did kill a resident in town. We did discuss waiting for the spell to be completed before you faced any repercussions, but certain parties felt strongly about handling it in the moment which is when JC offered, out of respect for the Supreme, to mutually agree to not allow you to join any organizations should the situation arise as penance and call it a day."
"JC who is open about his stance of wanting everyone in town to become a werewolf and about his stances in regards to the Coven offered and, after he did, I waited as Poppy and every other leader agreed. Your fate was already sealed and, if I vocally went against it, the decision would remain the same. I would have looked like a massive hypocrite, been declared biased, made the Clan some potential enemies and any sway I may have at reversing the decision would have gone down the drain. I knew you had no interest in turning any time soon, likely ever, given that Jonah is adamantly against it and the two of you want to spend the rest of your lives together and after. So, I decided to play the long game. JC was already going around declaring humans as unofficial pack members, so who was to say I couldn't protect you in the interim while I bought my time and waited? And if you were to turn, I could always pull a JC and offer you all of the Clan privileges as an unofficial member or, say fuck it, and let you in. But, you aren't a vampire and, while you remain a witch, whether I like it or not, I have to be strategic which is exactly what I did."
"Not that it likely matters to you, but I was the one who asked the Council to revisit your verdict and, while you may be living your penance, if you ever turn, you are now welcome to join any organization pertaining to that species. But, sure. You were on your own. I wasn't looking out for you behind the scenes even when I hadn't seen or heard from you or anything."
"Since you have become a resident, no one has become a vampire in Lunar Cove without their consent and, in terms of the Council, when you joined the Coven, you signed up to have the Supreme act as a representative on your behalf. It's not my fault if your representative doesn't represent you to your liking. The unaffiliated have a trial, while those within organizations are exempt from that lengthy process and, while, I'm sorry your experience in the Coven went the way it did, it's not up to me to call a witch into the Council meeting. That's the Supreme's decision. There," Her gaze met his once more as she told him point blank, "Now, you've heard my side and you are more than entitled to continue to judge or disagree." She was used to being judged. It happened nearly every day now with practically every choice she ever made. It was par for the course. Had she expected her friend to judge her too before hearing her out first? No, but it wasn't new and, if he wanted to continue, so be it.
Rohan nodded. "Nico stood beside Jonah at the altar, yes. And Ben is in a relationship with my cousin-in-law. All we had were our parties and their significant others at dinner. It wasn't even really a reception." He shook his head, meeting her eye once more. "No. It's not what I believe such, Meena. It's what it was. Every group decided to exclude me. And that was a consequence of my own actions, yes. I accept that. I admit that. But from a literal, legal, social level, I was out there on my own. It was not just that I belonged nowhere. I could not belong anywhere. There was no road back." He ran his hands along his head and through his hair. "You're right. I didn't understand. You and I talked often about what should happen if one day I were to become a vampire. Lunar Cove tends to lean in that direction, doesn't it? But then you banned me outright. Did anyone speak to me before doing that? Did anyone call me in to face justice in-person? I'm living my penance. Each and every day. What more can I do?" He rolled his shoulders. "Tell me then. I'll hear you. I am very tired of closed rooms. The coven wouldn't even do me the dignity of punishing me in public."

“That’s a shame. Fair, but what can I say? I selfishly miss that smiling face of yours is all,” Meena told him with an eased shrug as she looped her arm casually through his. “Rude? No. Though, if you’d like to be Glinda, I’m sure you could pull off all of that pink. I know things have been a lot recently and a haunted house may bring back more bad memories than good, just don’t be too hard on yourself. Alright, kiddo? Us, vampires, have been through so many hardships over the centuries that we often find ourselves desensitized to it all. We choose to enjoy the calm before the inevitably storm, but we can only do so, because of the endless time that has been allotted to us and we’re well aware that for others, that sentiment is hardly the case.”
Option D
Rohan grimaced, giving a weak sigh. "I don't know. I think maybe I've had enough dismemberment tonight," he replied, looking back to the Country Club. "Was I rude when I didn't react to that scary lady with the...thing? I saw her creeping out before we even got close." He gestured vaguely around his stomach, wrinkling up his nose. "Am I being a buzzkill? I'm not feeling very festive. Which is awful, right? A witch who's glum about Halloween? Who am I? Glinda?"

"Please tell me you have pictures of all of these phases of yours?" She hummed softly out. "And you do fairly J. Crew. No offense, but some black in your wardrobe could likely do you some good. And please. You're a baby. But, I get it. I used to be a witch too, once upon a time and an overly emotional one at that if you can believe it," She admitted. Meena was rarely someone to ever talk about herself, but she supposed just this once she could make an exception. "Though we could? I guess the real question would be where to start? I don't really know how to keep on less anymore or be anything else than- what do people say about me these days? That I'm heartless or simply indifferent?"
"I used to have a swoop. But in my own defense, I graduated high school in, like, 2005. It was the height of Myspace. I've also worn plenty of eyeliner in my day, but in a...I'm nineteen and need to have more stage makeup on than any other ensemble member kind of way. I suppose I could start layering it into my everyday ensemble. I exclusively write of death and tragedy. Every time I roll into a play reading, I can sense the shock that I'm so J. Crew." He sighed, managing a weak half-smile at his own expense. "Wait until I pull out the stinger. That I was among those who haunt it all along," he quipped. "Pshht. I'm so very old. And a theater person. I do believe that accounts for more of myself than witchcraft does. Though, sensitivity is in our magical natures, is it not? I get too worked up, and poof, all the spells turn off." He sighed, extending his hands as if to observe the invisible power pulsing from them. Still, he did appreciate Meena's words. "I know you're right. Alas. I've grown soft. I've had too much handed to me, so now, when I need to buck up, I just feel sorry for myself. It's an abysmal display," he grimaced. "Keep on keeping on, huh? Well, if you ever need help keeping on, I'm here. We could meet halfway even. You could keep on less, and I could keep on more."

"Now," She tact on. Her gaze meeting his once more as she made note of the way his expression faltered. "Not all the Council," She observed. "Though I take it that was more Jonah's decision than yours?" Only as his face hardened, so did hers. A scoff rolled off the tip of her tongue as she countered, "You weren't on your own, but if you want to believe such, so be it." She had never been one to go out of her way to explain herself and she was quite used to people assuming the worst of her by now. But, when he actually asked what he was supposed to do, she pointed out the obvious, "You could have spoken to me at the very least? We were friends. If I do something you don't understand or agree with, you could have asked. You weren't in the room. You have no clue how that verdict was made. You could have had a little faith in me or at least the decency to hear me out, but you're right. You made up your mind and it's not realistic for either of us to pretend, so I guess we both now know where we stand."
Rohan nodded, following Meena's gaze into the distance before meeting her eye once more when she turned back. He smiled, a polite expression if nothing else. "Well, neither do I," he said somewhat listlessly, shrugging his shoulders. His features faltered. "Oh. Well...'avoiding' is a tough word. But I guess it's fair. Yes, I've been keeping to myself lately, at least as far as some of the Council goes. I'm sorry." Her next remark made his face harden. He bristled. "So did I. But I still found myself standing out there on my own. Which I understand is my own fault, but so it goes." Nico had not been present for the vote, and he had never really been good friends with Ben or the Fae Queen. Poppy and Meena were more difficult to navigate right now, he thought. "What was I supposed to do? Honestly. A decision was made, and I accepted it because I had no choice. It's not realistic to pretend everything is the same now as it was, though, is it?"

"Hm. Well, not to say that you can't pull off the whole emo sad poetry vibe, but maybe leave your hair as is. The swoop won't do you anything favors, darling. That I promise you. Though, eyeliner might not look half bad," She mused, shooting him a playful smile back. "Wow. You really are embracing the whole sad poetry thing. Aren't you?" She hummed out, quirking a brow up at the mention of the world being his haunted house. "You young witches are such an overly dramatic lot. No offense, but just as you will, the Pendulum will heal in time. All it needs is a rebrand and some renovations. Nothing that can't be solved and I am-" Meena paused, knowing fairly well that she was hardly fine after everything that had gone down, but unlike Poppy and Rohan who wore their grief on display, Meena felt empty inside, as if her propensity to care had been completely stripped away from her and now simply going through the motions. Not that anyone seemed to ever notice. "Getting by, I suppose? Making the best out of an albeit crappy situation?" She offered up, playing
"Quoth the raven 'nevermore.' All is lost. I'm going to grow my hair out so I can do that swoopy thing. I'm emo now. No more smiles. No more plays. All I write is sad poems in my journal," Rohan teased, but still, genuine fatigue seemed to color his voice. A hand came up to pat Meena's own as she looped her way through his arm. "The good news, I suppose, is that I don't collect clothing. Just trinkets. Dead people's shoes are safe." He sighed, wrinkling up his nose at his own off-color joking. "The world is my haunted house. But thank you. You're a kind friend. How is the calm for you, though? Are you all right? Vampires may be desensitized, as you put it, but I still fret dreadfully about their wellbeing."

"So I've heard," She offered up. A knowing look crept across her gaze as she took adverted her eyes, setting on a passerby far off in the distance as she answered on cue, in a polite and professional voice that almost seemed rehearsed, if not a tad drained. "You're welcome." The corner of her lips tilted up into a smile that didn't quite reach her gaze as she began to turn on her heels to go, only to slow as her catlike eyes found their way back to his. "I couldn't tell you. I have no part in coven business. Though, if you mean to say you've been avoiding me, I've noticed," She told him forthright. "I thought we were friends," She admitted after a prolonged breath. Clearing her throat, she adjusted her stance in her red bottom heels as she said with shrug, "But, if I was wrong, my apologies." She had opened up to Rohan. She had confided in him more than she had with most in town and she had always felt a sort of kinship to him. Yet, when the Council made a decision that wasn't in his favor, a decision she had never been entirely for, he seemed to hold it against her and avoid her. So, she wasn't quite what other way to take it than to re-evaluate where she thought they stood.
With the long days of summer beginning to wane, Rohan was taking this opportunity for sun while he had it. The Playhouse's winter offerings were sparse, existential, befitting the mood of its patrons, he had decided. But he would not mind a genuine reprieve before having to dive into the icy depths of Lunar Cove's collective psyche. For now, he was satiated by his pool chair. Looking up with a soft smile, he managed a nod. "Hello, Meena," he said with some warmth, although he did not quite surge up to greet her. While he knew the situation was a complicated one, he was still finding it difficult to navigate the rocky waters engulfing everyone surrounding it, especially the Council. "Oh, thank you. Yes, it was more than I ever could have imagined." He gave a short nod. "That's...uh, that's good to know. Thank you." Swallowing, he allowed his gaze to wander away for a moment before darting back to her. "I think I'll have to be okay being out here on my own for now." He sniffed a little, managing a dry laugh. "I don't remember who told me what, to be honest. Poppy seemed to apologize for not fighting harder for me, I suppose. I don't know who she would have fought but herself, though." He shrugged, knitting his brow. "But I appreciate you coming over here. I know I've been sort of...scarce. It's not anger anything like that, I promise. I'm just trying to figure out where I stand right now. And on top of the wedding and the honeymoon and trying to move house, it's been a lot."

END.
