Stonybrook is a picturesque part of the Sunshine Lands, known for it's gentle rolling hills, babbling brooks, and shockingly clear night skies. Because of how clear the night skies are, the belief of wishing upon a star was an integral part of the community. Nowadays, light pollution makes it difficult, but the North star is still always visible when there are no clouds around, at least in the suburbs of the city.

Anyways, Stonybrook Community College is meant to be an opportunity for locals to attend post-secondary schooling without travelling as far or paying as much as they may have had to in order to attend other schools. (Or did not receive an invitation to NRC/RSA/NBC)

One of the teacher's sons

Complete asshole to his half brother

An asshole in general, but he can be charming when he wants to...you just have to tolerate the asshole part long enough

Makes up for what he lacks in academic smarts with manipulation and emotional intelligence. (Yes, he uses his intelligence for typically malicious reasons but it doesn't mean he's not intelligent)

Brett Lancaster - Twisted from Buzz Lightyear (loosely)

Cody's half-brother (doesn't really care for Cody)

Total nerd, genius IQ but also kind of gullible

Best friends with Idia online, goes by the name 'space_rangerTIAB'

Also friends with Cody's crush, which. is a source of tension between the half-brothers

Nobody at the school knows they're half-brothers except Cody's dad

Wheel-chair user + amputee - Idia helps him develop blueprints to make a 3D printed prosthetic leg as well as some funds to make sure he can customize it how he wants

Tyrell Roe - Twisted from Rex

He is baby, ok, please be nice to him

1/4 fae and proud, his grandpa is based on an actual T. Rex (yes I think that the really old fae should be based on dinosaurs so that the Draconias can be the THE Draconias, like they're the only ones based on a dragon, but that's an HC)

He get's anxious easily, his sweater is absolutely his comfort item

He is constantly inviting friends to his place and his mom is the sweetest person alive

He wants to get into engineering soo bad

He customized spoke guards for Brett's wheelchair/generally very artistic

The Betson Twins - Twisted from the Benson Brothers (Alec and Xander respectively bc their birth parents were only expecting one child so when they had a Bonus one they just split the OG name in half skfhlskdjfhlksjdf (AKA I could NOT think of a name for the second one and Xander fits fine))

Grew up in the foster care system, but adopted when they were 12

FIERCELY protective of their (adoptive) little sister (totally not a partial response to PTSD whaaaat)

Both come off as fairly intimidating, but as you get to know them. Alec is not. Xander can, but he's intense/passionate

Alec has dyslexia, when they were younger Xander would always read things out loud for him

verna and jacob’s mum, and farrow’s aunt, juniper loves potions and collecting odd trinkets. she’s a little eccentric and has her head in the clouds, but she loves her family. after the disappearance of her eldest child, jacob, she is distraught and struggles to pull herself out of despair. she has a difficult relationship with her daughter but adores her grandchild roe.

while she is definitely not a great mum or even a good person, i love writing her and exploring her desperation over her situation. she never wanted children but she did what was expected of her and married thomas. she doesn’t know what to do with her son henry, especially when she was so very young herself when he was born. definitely an interesting character.

she’s a duchess on her own right! she’s constantly scheming and plotting and i love that for her!  she loves her children but is extremely misguided in her attempts to control their lives. quincey and olympia are both put off from inheriting alderly because of their mother’s helicopter parenting and their father’s absent-minded indifference. oh, she definitely married stefanos to one-up her sister amelia because she’s petty like that.

The resurgence is most obvious in Omaha, Nebraska where the City Council recently voted to proceed with such a project. Warren Buffet is a local resident and opposed the rebirth of street cars in Omaha. His voice though heard was not heeded. The project as approved will cost $306 million. Buffett considered the plan too expensive and inflexible. San Francisco has always had a street car system. Recall the many you have seen in movies involving San Francisco. The street car line there is the historic F Line. I am old enough to recall street cars. We had them in Utica, NY. I rode them in the late 1930's. The demise of the street cars came with the birth of buses. Yesterday was special. I did not know how special it would be till actually having experienced it. Steve and Cindy Thompson invited me over to meet the family. Family involved Rich and Linda Thompson from Alaska and Orlando, Rich and Steve's sister "Sam" from Seattle, and Cindy's sister Christine who resides in Key West. I was the sole outsider. The afternoon the most memorable I have spent in Key West. What a wonderful group of people! Rich and Steve are twins. You would never know it. I think the term is fraternal. Do not look alike at all. However have similar dispositions. If you know Steve, then you are aware what a great guy Rich is. Rich and Linda spend 6 months a year in Alaska and six months in Orlando where they have had a second home for more than 25 years. Rich is an Alaskan fisherman. Salmon and halibut the primary catch. Rich showed me a couple of pictures of halibut he had caught. Normally, 20-30 pounds. The ones he showed me had to be pushing 1,000 or better. They were bigger than many great white sharks. He will be sending me a pic and I will publish it when received. Probably next week. I received a salmon education. Many types. I knew from nothing. He had brought with him from Alaska certain salmon which he prepared and cooked for our entre. Two types. White and red king salmon. Delicious! Rich and Steve have a sister they call Sam. Her real name Sandra. A Seattle resident. Retired after 21 years with the Seattle law firm Perkins, Coie. Considered smart. Not because of her employment. Rather her experience in 1997 as when she appeared on Jeopardy. At "half time," she was ahead of the other contestants. Thought she had it won. So did her family. Got buried in the second half, however. Still considered intelligent by her siblings, however. I thought she was so merely based on our conversations over the afternoon. I have forgotten neither Linda nor Christine. Each contributors in their own way. Nor is Cindy forgotten. A smart tough woman. She and Steve must have had an exciting time together over the years. Searching for a word or two to express my thoughts re the afternoon succinctly, all I can come up with is these were "real people." A long time since I have been with such a group. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Thousands marched throughout the U.S. in protest of its overturn. The Republicans finally won in their efforts to get rid of Roe. Turns out it is the worst political mistake made by either party in years. Even women who have supported right to life for years, think the Supreme Court decision wrong. Their anti-life feelings re Roe had minimized with the years. The right to protect and control their bodies overcame political and religious fanaticism. The warm weather will slowly turn cold this week. Cold fronts coming in. By thursday night and during friday, temperatures will be in the 50's. The temperatures will remain cold for a few days. I’d like to rant about RoE’s Nana for a bit.

This isn’t the first time I’ve found her actions problematic. The entire idea of the will - including the way it attempted to push the two eldest into settling down - seemed really sketchy. Like she was forcing them into her idea of what a perfect life should be like. But Nana’s thought process was nothing new to me. As a desi (South Asian) woman, I’ve met a dozen relatives who would never fail to ask me or my friends about marriage and children from the time we turned 22. I may not agree with that mentality but I understand where it comes from. And I know how difficult it is to change.

But what she did (and didn’t do) to Violet is on another level altogether. Think about it for a sec. The deathbed scene was probably the first time Violet was seeing family in a long time. Within that time she’s had to put up with tremendous emotional abuse, bullying and belittling from Mallory. From the beginning her mother basically made it crystal clear that her own vendetta meant more to her than her daughter’s mental health. This is a child that was abruptly torn from the only people she considered family (her own cousins) - who now hate her. What’s the first thing you should be saying to that child? “I’m sorry you had to go through this, darling, you deserved better. I love you.”

What does Nana give this wounded child instead? A lecture on forgiveness and grace and being the better person. I have faced emotional abuse, from the people closest to me, and I cannot begin to explain how much damage talk of this sort does to you. I’ve heard many, many people tell me to let go, to “not be bitter”, to “forgive for your own sake, not anyone else’s”. If they really, genuinely cared about my well-being though, they would have let me forgive on MY terms, at MY pace, when *I* felt ready. You don’t rush that. That’s the way healing works.

When someone prefers to concentrate on your responses, or what you might become, rather than what you went through, it hurts. Like you wouldn’t believe. There is no acknowledgement of your trauma. There is no validation of your feelings. Just a dismissal of what it took for you to get to this point. Like it doesn’t matter. Like you don’t matter.

If this is the send off she got, why wouldn’t she be bitter??

To top it off, Nana gives Violet the equivalent of a begging bowl in her will. By forcing her into a reconciliation with her cousins before she is truly ready. This may heal the cracks in the relationship, but in Violet’s mind those cracks developed both ways. And in this task Violet seems to have to do most of the work.

If this was Violet’s task, and Nana truly wanted reconciliation, why didn’t Nana work on softening her other grandchildren towards Violet, just to make it a little easier on her? Why didn’t she leave behind a clue, a sign, SOMETHING…to make them understand where their wayward cousin was coming from? She gave them total power over Violet without any effort to change their negative view of her.

Had Dean not convinced the MC that there was more to Violet than it seemed, what was the guarantee that they would change their attitude towards her? (Yes, Violet’s attempts to sabotage their tasks didn’t help matters, but by this point she had already lost hope). Had Dean not seen her pain, her frustration, her helplessness - had he not listened to her - the cousins wouldn’t have found a way to break through her walls.

Notice how the littlest things seem so monumental to Violet? Being invited for the cousins’ parties, being made bridesmaid, being told she looks nice, an invitation to dance on the table at the club, a say in what kind of dress she would like on the MC’s wedding day. She feels flustered everytime someone so much as says a kind word to her. No one should have to scrape around this much for kindness. The only thing Violet seems to have going for her anymore is pride. For Nana to force such a person to crawl towards the cousins she distrusts and almost beg for her inheritance, is a pretty low blow, no matter how good her intentions were. Even Alex, who starts off hating Violet’s guts in Book 1, and who seems to relate to her the least, recognizes how cold this is.

I know Nana is essentially the moral compass of this book. But at this point I’d probably be happier if all the cousins said “fuck this shit Nana” and tossed that darn will into the ocean.

…except all the money would go to Mallory then. Sigh.

Blue Exorcist 10th anniversary book Q&A session

The 10th anniversary book has a section where Katoh answers 100 questions submitted by fans on Twitter, so here they are translated/paraphrased! May contain manga spoilers up to the recent flashback arc, so be warned.

(Note that I’m playing it very fast and loose here because there are A HUNDRED OF THEM, so not exact wordings, but it should capture the gist. Lemme know if there are any you want elaborated on)

1. Katoh likes the feel of traditional drawing more than digital but is impressed with how far digital has come

2. Meph THOROUGHLY ABUSES spacetime to watch all his shows and ensure that he gets all the merch he wants

3. Did the girls take all of Yukio’s school uniform buttons in middle school? Yes, they did (apparently it’s like A Thing for girls to ask for a button from their crush at middle school graduation, based on some sad movie from the 60s where a guy who got drafted as a kamikaze pilot gave a girl one of his uniform buttons to remember him by)

4. Rin's tail is about a meter long

5. There are tons of servants working at Mephisto's mansion. Belial is in charge of them

6. Katoh borrows from all sorts of neat real locations when making settings

7. Katoh identifies with pretty much all the characters the most! Except Lucifer.

8. Demon designs she's proud of include the impure king and hachirou, pretty much anything that was the main one in an arc

9. Katoh lists a bunch of her favorite musical artists/music she’s listening to recently: King Gnu, Official Hige Dandism, Kenshi Yonezu, BAD HOP, Sakanaction, Keyakizaka 46, Hypnosis Mic, Aimer, B’Z, Queen Bee.

10. Awww the rabbit manga that characters are often reading isn't just Robo to Usakichi, it's an even older one that she drew as a little kid

12. Rin and Yukio alternated who got the top bunk growing up, because they couldn't agree on it lol

13. Katoh cares a whole lot about panel layouts and speech bubble positions, might even be her favorite part of the process (it shows!)

21. Suguro actually gets a dorm room to himself, though allegedly Yukio is technically assigned as his roommate, lol. Didn't end up that way what with Yukio being a teacher and also Rin’s whole...situation

23. Katoh doesn't mind if you include stuff with fan letters but check with the editor first

24. Time for making each chapter: Planning/storyboarding: 1-5 days. Sketching: 3-5 days. Drawing/inking: the rest. Just...the rest of the time

25. Neither Suguro nor Izumo have dated before and neither is currently dating. But that's probably just because things were hectic for them! It could happen

26. Yukio breaks 5 or 6 pairs of glasses a year, someone get this kid a strap or something

27. How many spare glasses does Yukio have? Check the fanbook lol it's in there (dang it Katoh)

28. The demon she wants us to pay the most attention to is Lucifer. Because plot.

29. What's under the Order's big meeting table? It's a BOTTOMLESS PIT and if you fall in it you DIE that's what makes it COOL (laughs)

30. What are the job requirements for the angelic legion? Literally just Arthur liking you and inviting you to join

31. She WANTS to do more character profiles but just hasn't gotten to it

32. Rin's tail feels like a cat tail, texture wise

33. The "red Assiah fire" is literally just actual fire nothing special

34. Rin's current hair color is light blue fading to white at the ends

35. Thoughts on Rin's growth: she likes that he stays positive in awful situations and she also thinks it's very main character of him to face the past instead of avoiding it

36. Mephisto didn't purposely surround Rin with stuffed animals when he woke up after going crispy. Mephisto's bed is just Like That

37. Kurikara was based on a cool sword she found in a sword book, but that one was technically just a ceremonial sword. The symbol on it us a Sanskrit letter kaan (sp?) associated with Fudou Myouou

38. Kuro can communicate with normal cats and hangs out with them often

39. Sometimes Shiemi's skirt is extra fancy around the hem what's up with that? Apparently it's an optional accessory that comes with the skirts help I haven't noticed this and don't know any fashion terms in any language

40. When coloring, Katoh always tries to have an overall theme in mind ("emphasis on blue" etc) so it comes together in the end

41. Yes the twins are genetically related to Shiro because of Goro (she says they're like his nephews but I say GENETICALLY at least they'd be indistinguishable from his children)

42. Strongest mom of all the strong moms around here? Yuri! Did you SEE her give birth??

43. Are you careful about your own health Katoh-sensei? Not particularly! Her mom has had to bring her food at work sometimes! Don't do this at home kids

44. At the dating events Shura goes to, does she drink cocktails in moderation? Yeah, she probably downplays her normal drinking habits at these things. But normally she's down for just about any kind of drink

45. Lucifer just really likes oysters okay

46. How many pages of manga does Katoh draw in a day? If she's being good about self-care: three. Maximum number ever: TEN

47. Mephisto is one of those folks who can eat like a garbage compactor and never gain weight. Possibly because his body resists that sort of change the same way it resists aging etc

48. First food Rin cooked: fish burger type patty. Yukio's favorite things Rin cooks: fish simmered in soy sauce, yellowtail with daikon radish. It's fish all the way down

49: Did Rin ever get more monthly allowance from Mephisto? It doubled! He gets TWO 2000 yen bills now (rip) [T/N: That's uh, that's USD $37.26 a month or 33.10 euro]

50. Why isn't Rin more popular with the girls? He gets nervous talking to them, plus he's too oblivious to notice even if he DID have some fans

51. Why change Suguro's hair? She gets bored with keeping everything the same, and she wanted a visual representation that he was getting serious and going into kind of a training arc

52. Things Katoh pays extra attention to when drawing: trying to capture the feel of whatever she's drawing (like "that looks warm and soft" or "I bet that guy stinks" cough Lightning cough)

53: Does Rin take after Yuri more? (He's got her eyes!) Katoh tried to draw Yuri so she looks like both twins. Personality, too - Yukio has her smarts and Rin has her optimism

54: Do you ever wanna be like Mephisto? Well she'd like to be able to get away with just ANYTHING EVER, but no, let's not be like Mephisto

55. Konekomaru not only carries around a cat toy in case he meets any cats, he MAKES cat toys to carry around based on what he thinks the cats would like

56. How'd you come up with Shima? Go read the fan book!

57. Do the kids have Twitter/Instagram accounts? Rin - probably not. Konekomaru might be on some social media. Paku and Izumo are totally on instagram

58. Is there something Rin makes that you wish you could try? All of it! That's the whole idea! He's good at cooking!

59. Will we ever have a (G-rated) reveal of what ALL of Mamushi and her family's tattoos look like? Maybe! She'll think about it

60. Does Arthur have a repertoire of different hairstyles? Not really, he just puts some of it up on the top. Heck he might even have people to do that for him

61. If you wrote a shojo manga what would it be about? She'd have to do a lot of research before even coming up with a story, since there are so many style differences between the genres aside from just the subject

62. The other two of Mephisto's top 3 favorite foods: Cup ramen and....f-fried bubblegum?? Is that a THING???

63. Where do you start when drawing a character? Usually the outline of their face but if it's a complex pose/composition she'll start with whatever's in the foreground (like hands)

64. If Katoh could have a familiar, what demon would she choose? Mephisto. As the all-powerful author, she might actually be able to command him as a familiar!

66. If you swapped Yukio and Rin's relationship around what would change? not much, you'd pretty much have Rin going to the Illuminati and Yukio going to the past

67. Top 3 foods/souvenirs to try in Kyushu? Well she doesn't know what’s good CURRENTLY but when she was there she always used to like burdock tempura udon, hakata torimon (a kind of manju with white bean paste inside), and Chikae style cod roe. today I learned Katoh went to high school in Kyushu

68. Katoh listens to music a lot while she's storyboarding, then when she and the assistants are all drawing and inking they put various videos/movies and stuff on in the background

69. For all his hitting on girls, is Shima actually popular with the ladies at all? He's got enough girls in his life that he probably COULD find a girlfriend if he really wanted, but the double agent thing tends to get in the way. He still wouldn't be as popular as Yukio though (side thought/translator’s note: Shima would be proud of being number 69.)

70. Katoh has the ending planned out in a big-picture way, but there are still a few details here and there that she's fretting over

71. It's cute when the boys put their ties over their shoulders when they're working on something! Where'd that come from? She just figured a tie might get in the way and that seemed like a realistic way to get it out of the way

72. Looks like Yukio is getting some facial hair! What about Rin? They're both about the age for it, but maybe Rin can't grow a beard yet. Maybe a little peach fuzz here and there

73. Katoh's favorite blue exorcist merch? There were some exorcist licenses a while back, and the exorcist pins. Basically it's really cool that these little accessories she drew ACTUALLY EXIST NOW, LIKE YOU CAN HOLD THEM IN YOUR HANDS

74. Okay realtalk how long do we have left, I don't want the series to end yet? We're solidly in the second half by now but it's not, like, ABOUT to end yet

75. Katoh would be a Knight meister, based on what characters she likes to play in games and such

76. How many people in the whole exorcism cram school? More than you think! She doesn't give a number but apparently licensed exorcists also attend classes for new meisters, etc, so there's a wide age range attending

77. How's Arthur feel about, like, studying Taming on the way to becoming Paladin? He's at least mostly accepted that you have to use demons to fight demons effectively

78. Konekomaru started wearing glasses in his first year of middle school, so like 7th grade (more recent than I thought!) He has one spare pair, in contrast to Yukio lol

79. Katoh's current obsessions? Ghost/scary stories! She's even been going to live readings of them recently

80. Media Katoh consumes for inspiration? A wide range of foreign teen drama, horror/suspense, shojo manga, light novels, anime, etc. Special focus on things where two boys are in conflict or there are brothers involved

81. If they weren't exorcists what jobs would they have? Rin - chef. Yukio - doctor. Shiemi - uh, florist?

82. Inspiration for the design of True Cross Town? Katoh and her assistants gathered up a bunch of references, picked out stuff they felt matched the tone, and mashed them all up together

83. Did you use any references etc for the school/exorcist uniforms? She says she probably should have but she just kind of made them up before publication

84. Favorite part of drawing? For color pages, picking out a color scheme. For black and white, drawing in all the little details (though she doesn't always get time to lately)

85. Once again confirms the demon kings' weird hair is a representation of their horns. ADDS THAT PEOPLE WHO CAN'T SEE DEMONS CAN'T SEE THE WEIRD HAIR

86. Now that Yukio's at the Illuminati, where's he gonna get his Jump SQ and spare glasses? Well he probably never planned to stay for long, but hey it's a big ship and they might have an optometrist and/or newsstand there

87. Do you base the demon characters on any references etc? Not really, she just gets a general idea of popular demon designs and then makes up her own in her own style

88. Merchandise Katoh personally wants to have made: stuff that an adult could just use in their day to day life. Also, it's not gonna happen, but if her favorite figure brand made AoEx figures she could die happy

89. If Beelzebub's host body was a beautiful woman, how would Shima react? Would the womanizing win out over the bug phobia? Katoh replies that Shima would probably just faint from being near a girl that pretty, before the bugs even got involved

90. Will the twins ever get to smile and eat dinner together again?? We'll just have to wait and see!

Categories were tough but I was routing for Renee Elise Goldberry and Bowen Yang but perhaps next year. The people in England who had their own party for all the statues that the Crown won seemed to be having more fun! Hacks won for writing and directing and Jean Smart!! It was nice to see the Norm Macdonald love which was barely mentioned by Lorne but celebrated by John Oliver. Colbert ‘s election night special won as did JB Smoove. Hamilton won and Debbie Allen got the big one. I do not understand why real singers and or musicians have to be there for the in Memoriam. It takes me out of it a bit and concentrates the focus on them. Do they think that people will pay attention more? Do companies know how fucked up their employment websites are? It is true that some people do not want to work. It is true that people schedule interviews and don’t show up. It is also true that companies have made it so hard to apply that many can’t. I suppose it is easier for them but the poor who may really want to work have a hard time. Paper applications are almost completely gone. The old fashioned way of walking into low paying job sites and finding a connection with a manager rarely exist. Some places only accept texts or have long ridiculous psych tests that a working Mother may not have time for. A Father working many hours already, may not be able to go to the library to get online if they cannot afford a computer. Many websites tell you that there no positions available in your area while there is a huge sign in front of the establishment. Can’t find people to work.. Gee I wonder why?? And treat people with respect once you find them, how about that?

your dream has finally come true. your foot has touched down to the land of the rising sun. you have read thousands of blogs about what to expect and what to do once you visit japan. as presumed, you listed quite a few places that you want to visit throughout your trip here.

one of those is a small yet phenomenal onigiri store located at the heart of hyogo prefecture. you fold the paper containing your list back to it's creases before pushing it inside your pocket. your hand push the doorhandle of the shop. the sound of the chime resonates within the small shop and instantly a tall grey haired boy greets you by bowing his head.

"welcome!" he says. he's wearing a black cap and a white shirt with a japanese character written on it. you have no idea what it meant but let's go just go with it.

your eyes feast on various kind of onigiri displayed inside a glass cabinet as you walk to near it. physically, you could feel your stomach grumble at the sight of delicious food.

"if you're into spicy savory food i recommend you try mentaiko. it's spicy pollack roe. but if you're on the sweeter side then you can try umeboshi. it's pickled plums." he points at flavored onigiris.

"tourist?" he adds, changing the subject. you tear your eyes away from the food only to realize he's had his eyes on you the whole time.

"yeah, im from india." you smile at him.

"is that so?" he raises an eyebrow before turning around to fetch a tray resting on top of the counter top. "ill give you free taste." he slices the onigiris into half before setting it on the tray for you to taste.

"thank you." your smile widens in delight. the door to the kitchen at the far end of the counter top blares open to a person with identical features as him. unlike the guy who gave you free food, his hair is dyed in blonde and his eyes are sharper.

"asshole, where's my jacket?" the blonde dude cocks his head at him.

"not infront of a costumer, jerk." he murmurs to himself, diverting his gaze from the other.

"you just called me a jerk infront of the costumer." the blonde puts his hand on his waist and uses his other hand to point at him as if to prove a point. the grey headed boy purses his lips before slowly turning his head up.

"isn't that your name?" he sarcastically remarks in a calm yet condesing tone. your eyes rally back and forth from one twin to the other. your mouth chewing on your second onigiri as you watch them banter.

"you are exceptionally rude and unforgiving today." the other twin wrinkles his nose in disgust.

"everyday that i get to deal with you and skip on the idea of of murdering you i develop a sense of wit to shut you down."

"just tell me where you put my jacket!" the blonde's voice increases.

"i have no idea where your goddamned jacket is!" the grey headed boy throws his hands in the air in frustration. "people who deal with you on a daily basis reduces their life sentence up to ten years. i wouldn't be surprise if i would be dead tomorrow."

you snort out laughing as soon as the boy behind the counter finishes his sentence. the twins turn their head to you in surprise.

"sorry, go on." you keep your head down as you stifle a laugh. you stuff your mouth with another onigiri to keep your mouth shut.

the chimes tied on top of the door clangs signaling that the other twin has left the place. for once, silence dominated the small store. you crack your head up.

"your onigiri tastes good." you say between chews. you have one hand covering your mouth and the other supporting your weight on the counter as you lean closer to him.

"you won the chaff." you lower your voice before winking at him. your playful behavior earns a smile from the grey haired boy. he keeps his head down probably embarrassed of what just happened.

"ill take two of every flavor displayed." you add, "im pearl."

he looks up to meet with your eyes. the right corner of his lips pull into a half smile. his eyes reflect the lights inside the store. he meekly pulls his hat down.

"osamu miya." right then his half smiles turns into a grin.

some people say that when you die your whole life flashes before your eyes. the good, the bad. everything you want to remember in death. then they say you see a big great white light, but how would they know that if they were all alive to tell you so? others say that all their pain starts to slowly fade away and then you just feel nothing. you didn’t know which terrified you more.

apart from the ever growing feeling of doom, you felt horrible. death was supposed to be peaceful. not worrisome. it was safe to say that you weren’t afraid of your impending downfall. you were just afraid of what might be affected when you were actually gone.

of course before the jump on d-day, you had gone through the steps to get life insurance. your family would be awarded ten thousand dollars. however, that was not a good replacement for your life. i’m sure many people would have agreed.

war was a difficult thing to comprehend. the whole world had felt loss. nearly everyone had something to mourn. you felt terrible leaving your family but you did it for the greater good. in fact, you had found the greatest good you were ever gonna get. and he was absolutely amazing.

lewis nixon had saved your life before. he actually never let you forget it. he was so proud of himself. it was the first time the two of you had ever even interacted. with you being very clearly smart (note the sarcasm) you had nearly gotten hit by a passing jeep. lewis pulled you back in time before you let out a couple of curses at the soldiers speeding past.

“woah! you need to watch where you’re headed, ma’am.” the man who had pulled you back raised a brow as you flipped off the soldier driving the destructive jeep.

“and you, need to get your hands off of me.” you snapped, motioning to his hands still securely held onto your waist.

“right. sorry.” he released you with flushed cheeks. if you hadn’t been so mad, you might’ve been blushing as well. “are you alright?”

“i’m fine . . . i guess now is the time i should be thanking you for saving me from becoming roadkill.” you let yourself calm down a little bit.

so yes, lewis had pretty much saved your life. that was years ago now. it was just a memory. one of your favorite in fact. and you sure had many memories to share with him. you wanted nothing more but to return to that day. maybe you could get a do over. you would do so many different things. it was selfish to say that you felt you made so many mistakes because you had all you ever wanted.

you got the guy, the house, the money, the job, the friends, the children, and most importantly you were a small factor in helping win a great big war. this was what you wanted. this is the life you promised yourself. but you never expected to lose it all so soon.

as lewis held your hand tighter than ever, you couldn’t help but wonder if he had the same feeling you did. that something absolutely horrible was to happen. the children had been dropped off at your parents house (they always appreciated them more than the nixon’s) and the two of you had went to attend an easy company reunion.

ten year reunion. the war had been over for ten years. you hadn’t seen most of these men in ten years. you hadn’t even joined easy until bastogne. it’s not like you were all that special. some of them joked that you were too busy having children to write a letter or call. you made it clear to these men that you and lewis only had four kids. besides, two of the kiddos were twins! how lucky.

the night had gone almost perfect. you laughed, you cried. however, not once did lewis leave your side. the whole night he was stuck to you like glue. it was odd that he was being so clingy because he loved and appreciated these men as much as you did. he had known them longer than you had. these were his men.

after hours of catching up, the night had come to an end. the two of you were walking through the lobby of the building the reunion took place in. hand in hand, like always. and three shots rang out.

pop, pop, pop!

a sound you hadn’t heard in ten years. a feeling you hadn’t felt in your whole life. they had said you were one of the lucky ones. you hadn’t been hit once throughout the war but that didn’t mean you were safe. the shock on everyone’s faces were evident. they were just as afraid as you.

suddenly it was 1945. the hotel lobby disappeared. the men staring at you in shock had faded to grey. your surroundings morphed into a foxhole and you felt comfort one last time.

“lew, what are we gonna do once this is all done and over with?” you spoke up to the man who had seemingly fallen asleep at your side. however, you knew him better than that.

he yawned, throwing his arm around your shoulders to conserve heat. “after we get out of this damn forest or after the war?”

“assuming that the war ends within the year, where do we go? what do we do?”

“in my dreams, i’m in the most amazing house laying in the comfiest bed with you right next to me. i got that feeling that i never want to move because i’m so damn comfortable. then i hear footsteps sprinting down the hall towards our room and in bursts a couple of little kids. three or four of em’. and you know who they look like? they look just like you.”

you give a hum of contentment. “sounds like a plan to me.”

“good, we can talk about it more tomorrow. right now, i’m gonna dream that my fingers aren’t ice cubes.”

“now that, i can get on board with.” you grabbed his hands in your own to help warm them up.

he guided you towards the ground. maybe you’d give anything to be back in that foxhole. and nobody ever wanted to be back in that stupid freezing forest. in spite of that, at the time you had everything. you had lewis and that’s what was important. you just wished you had more time. more time to love. more time to live.

eugene roe pushed through the men starting to surround you. he didn’t want to push lewis away. i mean, if anyone tried they would be very unsuccessful. his hand was glued to your own. he would never let go. eugene kneeled beside you. the gaping wound in your chest was bleeding heavily. why had the bullets hit you? who was going after the shooter? you didn’t deserve this.

even with eugene’s magic healing hands, you knew you wouldn’t make it when he stopped trying to pack the wound with spare gauze he had on himself (a habit he had never given up after the war). lewis looked at him and then back at you. you tried your best to sit up but your husband forced you to keep laying down.

“i love you, alright? i will always, always, always love you lewis nixon.”

and the tears fell from his face onto yours. that was the last thing you felt and his very choked up “i love you so much” was the very last thing you heard. then you were gone.

Walter Scott “Smokey” Gordon

The Real Smokey Gordon:

(His twin sister Cleta is standing next to him)

Walter Scott Gordon Jr. was born April 15, 1920 in Jackson, Mississippi to Cleta and Walter Gordon. He had a twin sister, named Cleta. His parents had married later in life, in the 30s, which was unusual for their time. His father, Walter Sr. was called either BeeBoy or Bee. Cleta Sr. had not gotten her name until she was three years old and had another sibling. BeeBoy was a spec builder and a real estate developer. His mother was a fiery teacher in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was once fired for getting caught not sitting side saddle “like a lady”. When news about her firing got to the students and parents, they threatened to fire the school board. Cleta was given her job back and inspired so many students that several named their kids after her. BeeBoy and Cleta were very popular in Jackson, Mississippi. This changed during the Great Depression, where they lost nearly everything.

His parents were not prepared to be parents, more or less parents of twins. After the birth of Smokey and his twin, Beeboy would sometimes drive up to his house after working, hear the twins crying from his car, reverse his car, and come back when his children had stopped and were asleep.

Smokey was bright, quick, and could remember details of almost anything he’d read. He even studied Latin. But for all his knowledge and skill, Smokey did poorly in school. He was smart, but he was witty and liked to joke around which didn’t go over very well with his teachers. They did not like his attitude in class.

Smokey’s family was not religious, but Smokey took it upon himself to become Episcopalian, a lay leader, and an altar boy. He memorized the Bible and could recite it from memory, This changed when Cleta Jr. died from breast cancer when she was in her early 30s, causing Smokey to lose all his faith. After that, Smokey would say, “Any god that could take away the most beautiful creation to walk this earth, I want nothing to do with.” But even after this, Smokey enjoyed religious discussions and could still quote the Bible down to the chapter and verse, saying that “Don’t you know the Bible is the greatest book ever written?”

Smokey graduated from Central High School and attended Millsaps College for many semesters. This didn’t work out for him in the end, since he focused on other things. Finally, he decided to enlist in the military.

The first time did not go as planned and Smokey was denied because he was colorblind and had flat feet. Dejected, he turned to BeeBoy for guidance. BeeBoy told him that the Army tried to distance you from your home, so your homesickness wouldn’t cause you to run the first chance you got. BeeBoy told him that if he enlisted up north, they’d send him down south and vice versa. With this in mind, Smokey hopped a train to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to try again.

Still colorblind, Smokey memorized the men reading the letters in front of him and passed. He heard about the paratroopers and decided to enlist, liking the idea of the extra pay. He didn’t exactly think that he was getting more pay because he was jumping out of an airplane and into enemy fire.

Smokey was not originally a Toccoa boy. He started his training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and got transferred to Camp Toccoa, Georgia. BeeBoy was right with that perspective at least.  Smokey was in the 3rd Platoon of Easy Company.

Smokey got his nickname during the war. He had a chewing tobacco habit and it earned him the nickname, he also liked to smoke pipes and cigars. He would never drink, stating that anything he drank he would drink it with voracity so he stayed away from alcohol. He preferred water. And he drank a lot of water. I’m not kidding, he drank more than the average man. He drank so much water he would try and find ways to get other’s water during training. He started carrying candy bars around to get an extra few sips of water. He’d carry around Hershey’s Bars to exchange for water (don’t ask me why all of the Easy Company boys like Hershey’s, I really cannot explain it.)  Smokey was also sort of a smart ass. One day, he gave his last cigarette to Tab, then said the payment was a dime for a match to light it. 

In England, Lipton and Smokey would prefer to go tour museums and art galleries than go out drinking. They’d go together or sometimes even alone. Smokey did not give up his mischievous personality and one day, he took a trip to Bath, England with another guy. They went on a museum tour and when lunchtime came, the museum closed briefly, but Gordon and the other man hid inside until it was safe. Then they stripped and swam and played around in the Ancient Roman baths. Before the museum opened, they got dressed and rejoined the tour.

Winters, in his memoir, writes that Smokey and his friend Paul Rogers, enjoyed passing their time by picking a victim to dedicate a poem to. Their victim had received company punishment and therefore needed a poem about them told in front of the company when they were assembled. The victim would be throughly embarrassed and angry. If the victim of their teasing blew up on them, they got more joy out of their teasing. The more embarrassed their victim became, the happier Smokey and his friend were. Their easy target was Floyd Talbert. Tab, one Christmas Eve, had a bit of a temper tantrum when his silverware was removed and stormed out. Smokey met him afterwards, telling Tab he had skipped possibly his last Christmas dinner on Earth. 

Smokey jumped into Normandy on D-Day. He landed on a farm, near an apple tree,with half his machine gun.The first person Smokey saw in Normandy was John Eubanks. Eubanks was supposed to be carrying the tripod for machine guns, but when he didn’t see a purpose for carrying it without a gun or a gunner around him, he got rid of it. Smokey found a way around it, and set his gun on low stone walls to fire it. 

Guth joined them shortly afterwards as they wandered around Normandy. At one point, a voice called out the code word “FLASH”. Before anyone could do anything, Eubanks called out “Lightning!” WRONG CODE WORD, the right one is thunder. They ducked, knowing what happened when they said the wrong code word, and a grenade was thrown at them by the other man, who promptly ran away. The men found Talbert a short time later. Together they joined a group of 502nd men that took out a bunker, near a bar in Ravenoville, with Smokey’s orders.

Smokey was injured in Normandy in his calf, by a piece of shrapnel that went in his leg and out the other. When he was evacuated to England, he had a long cast up his leg. It ran from his hip to his toe. In this hospital period, Smokey met with groups of military upper brass as they went through. These groups spoke with the wounded men and gave them Purple Hearts if they qualified. This award was supposed to stay pinned to their pillows, but every time a group was gone, Smokey would take his off and put it under his pillow. He slowly collected a small amount of these by the end of the 8 weeks he was there.

Tab was also injured near Carentan. This was the night of Stab-A-Tab, where Talbert was stabbed by another Easy man by mistake. Smokey, with his tradition of making poems out of people’s misery, made one for Tab. The Night of The Bayonet was Smokey’s tribute to Tab when they returned to Aldbourne, England. He also gave Talbert one of his Purple Hearts as well. According to Smokey, whenever the night was brought back up, Tab claimed he could’ve shot the kid six times, but didn’t think they could spare to lose a man.

Smokey was also promoted to the NCO ranks during their time at Aldbourne. He would eventually end the war as a corporal. It’s also said that Lipton and Smokey went to tour Scotland after recovering. 

Surviving all of Holland, we end his military chapter in Bastogne. I can’t tell you what he did in Holland, but I will let you know if I can find anything. (I do feel super bad about this but I can’t find anything right now.) 

In Bastogne, Winters remembered walking past Gordon one day, as Gordon sat at the edge of his foxhole, staring out at the forest, without recognizing him at first, and then thinking, “Damn! Gordon’s matured! He’s a man!”

Smokey was shot on Christmas Eve morning. His partner was newer, and had no experience with foxholes. Their foxhole was not deep enough for the tall 6′1″ paratrooper, and Smokey was shot in the shoulder as he was drinking coffee. The hot drink poured into his lap as his body slid down. The bullet entered his left shoulder, traveled through him, and left through his right shoulder. It touched his spinal cord and he was paralyzed from the neck down. 

He was dragged out of his foxhole by his close friend Paul Rogers and Jim Alley. They took him into the woods to see Doc Roe. There Doc attended to him with morphine and plasma. Lipton ran over to see how he could help Smokey. He was leaning over Smokey, trying to get a response out of the wounded man. Another man pointed out that Lipton was actually standing on Smokey’s hand and that Smokey could not feel it. He had lost his sensations in most of his body. This is when they realized just how serious Smokey was hurt. 

Smokey was evacuated to an aid station, to England, to a hospital in Wales, He was put into a cast that left his head to his waist covered, only his face was left exposed. This caused a problem due to the fact his wounds from the bullet couldn’t be treated. They drilled holes into his head to install Crutchfield Tongs, to stop any movement. He was forced immobile, laying on his back, for six weeks. 

One day, a doctor looked at Smokey and told someone to watch out for Smokey because he was goldbricking. Goldbricking is an excuse to escape a task, Smokey was so mad that he yelled at the doctor, “Damn it! If I could get out of this bed and I’d show you what goldbricking is.” The doctor left, successful with his attempt to rile up Smokey to keep his fight going. Smokey would keep in touch with this doctor, even after the war, for the remainder of his life. 

Smokey gained control of his pinky finger during his time of recovery He was labeled walking wounded a short bit later. But he was still not free from the hospital. He was shipped off to Atlanta, where he’d stay in a hospital until the war was over in 1945. He was able to go home by that time, but continued to remain in the Army. In his letters home, he was never able to give an answer to that question of when he’d return. 

Even though he was now well enough to go home, they were going to send him to Fort Benning for restricted or limited duty. BeeBoy, who Smokey called to tell the news, started yelling and threatening the Army that he’d take Walter to the US Senate, strip Smokey, and let them determine if he was going to be sent home or not. I’m not sure if that message to the driving force with the doctor, but Smokey was soon discharged with 90% disability. 

The rest of his life, he suffered with chronic back pain and shoulder pain. His back would hurt if it was touched, even if it was a pat on the back. He took an Army aptitude test to see what his career should be, and got bulldozer operator. But Smokey didn’t like this idea and decided to put his strength more in knowledge than what the Army had expressed. 

Under the GI Bill, Smokey went back to school. He attended Cumberland  Law School in Tennessee. 6 months into this school, he returned to Mississippi, took the state bar exam and passed. He went back to school to officially achieve his degree, but he was already a licensed attorney. Even before graduating. 

But he never practiced law. He became an oil broker instead. He had no car but was given work fairly early after the war. He wrote to Henry Ford II and the letter got him a car from the local dealership and he paid without having to wait for a new car. And instantly he got a way to work. 

In 1950, while on a vacation, Smokey met his future wife. Her name was Betty Ball Ludeau from Louisiana. Smokey asked her to reintroduce herself several times, causing a bit of embarrassment on her part. But it’s Smokey, that’s almost expected. He swore it was love at first sight and he knew he was gonna marry her. 

During their relationship, he worked in Hammond, Louisiana with oil and would drive to go see Betty. The pair had little in common, he didn’t like dancing or saloons like she did. He pursued her with a passion, and she refused him, She rejected several marriage proposals from Smokey, but Smokey continued to ask. She rejected him many times till one night he learned the answer. She blurted out that she couldn’t marry him because she didn’t know how to cook. Smokey told her he “wasn’t marrying her to be his cook”, he “was marrying her to be his bride”. Throughout their marriage, he would call her “his bride”. She finally said yes. 

They were married June 14, 1951. Smokey said she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen to anyone who would listen when Betty entered a room. He claimed she was the most entertaining woman he’d ever met. Smokey dearly loved Betty. Everyday he’d tell her, “...have I told you how much I love you today? And tell me. what can I do to make you happy?” 

Smokey didn’t have many hobbies due to how much he worked. He had no problem requiring the same amount of effort out of his kids, all five of them. There was Elizabeth “Bebe”, Linda, Eunice Gay, and Cleta, his daughters. He had one son, Walter S. Gordon III. He often ran by military tactics, and not parenting tools such as Dr. Spock. His kids chores were based on the military scale, he would inspect their completed chores and give them more if they weren’t done correctly. They didn’t want to be doing nothing around Smokey, for he’d given a good work ethnic and doing nothing around Smokey was nearly a crime. They also appeared to have hired a Nanny to help with all 5 kids, they called her MowMow. Often times, the only control the house had was when Smokey was in charge. When family arguments arose, it was all to blame the kids, even if they didn’t do anything (specifically for the cases where they escaped punishment when they thoroughly deserved the punishment). 

 He’d sometimes take his 5 kids out of school during the week to join him on a trip. They’d all travel on his business trip with him, missing school, and heading to New Orleans, Louisiana.  Like everything else, their vacation was scheduled like military tactics. They had scheduled meeting times and places, where they’d to his hotel. He’d send them off to an arcade with 5 dollars and would continue with his business trip. At dinner, they’d go to a fancy restaurant. They were all around the age of 5-11, which to Smokey was old enough to be able to function properly, even though they weren’t adults. 

Even though he loved working, Smokey was a family man as well. Whenever invited out for drinks with co-workers, he’d chose to go home to his wife and kids instead. He loved his kids and his family a lot, focusing his time on them instead of other places when he was home from travels. 

Smokey loved his kids about as much as he loved money, Often times, using money to bribe his kids to come home and visit. He’d send them a check that wasn’t signed, bribing them with signing it when they next returned home to see him. Or he ripped a $100 in half, send half of it with a letter that stated they’d get the rest when they came to visit, and they’d come back, curious about his latest antic. 

Smokey continued to love jokes. He loved practical jokes, sometimes planning them out for months. He once sent a letter to a reporter he saw dining at a diner he regularly was at, she left without paying for 2 cups of tea. He then adopted a pseudonym, wrote a letter where he portrayed the owner of the diner asking her to pay the diner back for the tea. One time, the lieutenant governor of Mississippi, a friend from law school, sent a  joking letter to Smokey that read: “...I have been informed that you were wounded in the head in the last war. As a public official of the great state of Mississippi, I want to take this opportunity to say I am indeed sorry they didn’t kill you.”

Smokey is seen as the link between Ambrose and Easy Company. Ambrose lived about 15 minutes away from each other in Mississippi (not neighbors as the story is told). In 1988, Ambrose’s assistant heard about the group of veterans attending a reunion in New Orleans. They met with the assistant and were interviewed, and soon they connected the assistant to Smokey who lived nearby. They had set up an interview with Ambrose and Smokey, Lipton, Guth, and Winters. Smokey and Ambrose became close friends and their friendship lasted for a long time. 

Smokey returned to Mississippi towards the end of his life, he was away from his bride, but they made weekly visits to each other. He spent much of his time with Tracy, his daughter and her kids. They talked daily, until one day where he didn’t call, two days after his birthday. Tracy’s nanny tried to call, and couldn’t get an answer, so she traveled with the grandkids to Smokey’s house. He was an early riser, and would have gotten his paper and started his day by then. She arrived to see he still hadn’t grabbed his paper. There, Miss Lilian, the nanny, and his 5 year old grandson found him in his bedroom and he was rushed to the hospital. 

Smokey had suffered a stroke in the night. At first, it was believed he would recover, but a few hours later, while in the hospital, he had another massive stroke. He passed away 3 days later on April 19, 1997. Smokey was cremated and remained with his son, until his wife passed away in 2009, when he was buried with her. 

His funeral was exactly how his life was, happy and full of jokes. Stories of his pranks and humor were shared along with a bunch of smiles.  Gordon’s life should be remembered the way he was, with a few stories that make you smile and a heart full of love and humor

Leo, lord knows he deserves better than the ROE MC.

HC for Leo:

1. He was always jealous of Liam, since the day his baby brother was born. At first he was jealous of Liam’s doting mother. She was always kind to Leo as well, treating him as her own son, but he could never forget his real mother and the way she left him without ever looking back. Then he was jealous of how smart and well-liked his little brother was, as he excelled at everything he did, and all the adults loved the sweet little gentleman over his rebellious teenaged half-brother. As adults it was no secret that Constantine and Regina believed Liam was better suited for rule. Leo didn’t want the crown, but he resented that no one seemed to believe in him. He never let go of his own resentment until the day he told Liam that he had abdicated. Watching the weight of the responsibility settle firmly on Liam’s young shoulders, he felt a guilt it had never occurred to him to feel before.

2. He always had a thing for the nerdy twin, and she featured prominently in many of his fantasies. He also fantasized about having both of his wife’s twin sisters at once. She caught him watching a porn of a man having a three-way with two brunette twins and never forgave him for it.

Hello beautiful @ladynonsense!  These are so fun!

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why? 

So, I hate all of the characters I’m supposed to hate - the bad guys.  The father from Endless Summer, the Duke and Countess from D&D, Anton or whatever his name was in TRR (come on, have a better reason for trying to kill people!), etc ...

but what I want to talk about is a character I wanted to love, she had all the right characteristics, she was geeky (Me), she was a twin (something I’ve always wished I had), she was smart (I want to say me again), she was driven (something I wish I were more of sometimes), and she was going to be a freakin heir to a fortune!  That’s right, the nerdy twin from RoE.  Smart does not have to be boring but damn it, I cannot make it through her storyline on the replay.  I’ve never wanted a skip function more.  I want to love her!!!  Her love story is even kinda cute.  But her story line is soooo one dimensional that it makes me yawn.  I mean, I wouldn’t romance me if I were her.  LOL 

10. Most disliked arc? Why? 

There are two that spring immediately to mind:

A.  The pathetic excuse for an apology we get from Madeleine to Hana.

B.  The Red Carpet Diaries “stepping on the painting” debacle and then Megs having to essentially gravel to everyone to get them back together ... there was some almost forced-on-Megs moments with Matt ... the writing with Victoria was not good (imo) ... nothing about that part of the plot was well put together.  I truly thought it was some of the worst writing from PB.  

And a third because I just thought of it ...

C.  Oh, the duel in D&D was also bad.  Clunky, eventually anti-climactic to the point of being almost meaningless, maybe the rest of the story will bring it a greater purpose, but so far it’s felt very out of place to me.

Oh and a fourth ...

D.  The diamond scene at the Hollywood sign in RoD with Logan ... was it a goodbye?  It was strangely placed, makes no sense to me, and I kinda want my money back for it. 

27. Least shippable character? 

Is it weird to say MC? 

Not Megs, obviously, cause she’s awesome ;)

But, seriously, sometimes we get so little information about our own background and then we can choose to make some truly awful decisions (or just sneaky, THOT decisions) and I do wonder what anyone sees in our MC.  This is especially true in the later books of TF and TRR and RoE for me.  It’s like the more time I spend with MC, the more I think it might be better of the person I am romancing finds someone more worthy.

1. Which of your MC’s would win the hunger games?

ILITW MC probably b/c she survived that shit so. But my PM MC is so ready to kill a bitch that she just might.

2. Which MC is your favorite?

Probably the Freshman MC? I don’t really have a reason for it, I just love her.

3. If only one LI could be transported into your real life to become your real-life partner, who would it be and why?

MAXWELL. I love him with my whole damn heart, tbh. And if my future spouse doesn’t get me a centuries-old sword to cut the cake with? I’m sorry but I’m out. (Why? He’s just pure sunshine and supports MC no matter what and cares so deeply about everything and I just want to hug him all the time and tell him he is good enough, better than good enough, perfect. I’m sorry but I have a lot of feelings about Maxwell.)

4. Which character do you relate to most?

Jane, from VoS maybe? I really relate to that desperateness to be loved and get married and have a fairytale ending. Or maybe Freshman MC just because she’s a writer and she’s a little lost. (And I got to make her officially bi, so that.) A little bit Sloane from PM too just with the social anxiety and awkwardness thing, not the super smart scientist thing.

6. Which book have you replayed the most times?

I haven’t replayed any of them? I started to replay Endless Summer, so I guess that. (B/c the first time I romanced Sean but he pissed me off by the end of book 2 so I wanted to hit on Jake instead.)

7. Would you rather have Hero 2 or Most Wanted 2?

Hero 2! (I never played Most Wanted...)

8. Did you like LoveHacks?

Not really. I finished it but I lowkey hated it.

9. Do you like RoE?

Yeah! It was fun. I got to date Leo, who I loved already from TRR, and the twins’ LIs were amazing. It was a lot of fun all around.

10. Which MC in your opinion is the most beautiful?

The two newest books - HSS:CA and ILB - have the hottest MCs. (Although my ILITW MC was hot too. Too bad she’s dead.)

11. Which female character (from any book) is the prettiest in your opinion?

It’s gonna be a tie between Lily from Bloodbound (aka one of the first LIs that the moment I saw her I was like... I’m in love) and Kepler from AtV. (Although my Hayden is also fire.)

12. Which male character (from any book) is the most handsome in your opinion?

I haven’t actually played TCATF but I have seen Raydan, so him. But also my boy Zig, second in my heart only to Maxwell, also Zig was probably the first LI that when I saw him I was like “this one please.”

13. Which character is the most intriguing?

I have a lot of questions for Alana from PM.

14. If you had to befriend anyone from any book, who would it be?

Maxwell, obviously. Hana, my girl. Lily. Nadia. Madison from the Freshman (still upset she’s not an LI) and Michelle from Endless Summer. Also Olivia (also disappointed she’s not an LI.) And Addison (someone’s gonna have to explain to me why I got to make out with her but she wasn’t an official LI choice in the last chapter.)

15. Which MC has the best outfits?

ITB and ILITW both had some great starter outfits. (Red Carpet MC actually has some cute stuff too if you dig through her closet to find it.)

16. Which book would you want to be transported into and live the life of that MC?

If I was braver, I would say PM, b/c her life is interesting af. But probably The Freshman, even though that basically just is my life, b/c she gets a lot of free and impressive writing opportunities just handed to her and also has a lot of people in love with her.

17. List 5 characters you dislike the most.

...idk if I remember characters I dislike well enough to do this but: Duke Richards, Parker from RoE, the dick who runs Eros, Adrian from Bloodbound tbh, and Sean from Endless Summer by the end of it.

1. Which of your MCs would win the Hunger Games?

It's not always the matter of strength, skill or even will. It's also about how lucky that MC is.

I'll go for THOBM if she's recovered from the loss of her bro. (Funny huh? but I gave her a somewhat survivor background due to her family).

But if TRR MC was strip of her emotions, she'll display each head of my MCs in front of her castle. I HC her to have the ability to adapt in any environment and grasp ANY skill at a short period of time (maximum of days), which could take a normal person to master for years. And if she lost the ability to feel, she'll see no difference when painting a beautiful picture, playing the piano or killing her friends (whether its an aliens, a vampire or Burger King)

My MC Hunger Games would be:

Badasses dying. (ES, Hero, ILITW, BB, PM etc.)

Empaths semi-surviving (TF/TS/TJ, HSS, RoE etc.)

Dark Horses winning. (THOBM, TRR etc.)

Yeah...I have a thing for that. Sounds boring? Sowee! Hehehehe!

I dont know if my badass MCs are just weak, or the not-so-badass characters just outsmart them or if its a matter of pure luck. I dont know, but I think thats the reason why its fun.

I like party-twin and the first book is okay but it kinda dwindled as it goes on.

Oh gosh...the most beautiful is Eleanor Waverly! Like everytime she appears on my screen or whatever, Hallelujah Chorus by Handel Messiah is playing! She's so perfect in personality and looks, it's like God made her directly from Heaven----!!!

Sorry I got carried away...the most beautiful is Eleanor but I think the prettiest is Hana, Madison or Asian F!Hayden.

12. Which male character (from any book) is the most handsome in your opinion?

It's Kingky King Liam ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) or maybe there's still someone I forgot but

RAAAAAAJJ!!! Omg I soo love him!! He's so dorky yet got that hidden smarts and loves to cook uber delicious food plus he's so huggable and has an awesome shirt collection!

I'll go for TRR and RoE. I'll wanna steal their wardrobe.

Manny and Prince Marco and...I really dont keep track of people that I dislike/hate. But if they really made a mark on me, like pissing me off to the core, I’ll remember them, just like these two.

The Ultimate Choices Tag Game

1. Which of your MCs would win the hunger games?  I would have to say Devon from ILITW. She knew how to adapt to her surroundings and didn't hesitate to do what she needed to do. I have complete and total faith in her ability to dominate the hunger games.

2.Which MC is your favorite?  Now this is a hard question because I love each of my MC's for different reasons. Since I can only pick one, I am going to have to go with Ava from Perfect Match. Not only is she beautiful, she's smart and not afraid to get her hands dirty to save the people she loves. (Especially Damien.)

3. If only ONE LI (from any Choices book ever) could be transported into your real life and be your real life partner, who would it be and why? (I hope you get I what mean) This is a tricky question for me. My husband is lot like Chris from the Freshmen so it is kind of like I already have one of the LI in real life lol That being said, I would probably have to bring Zig. Not for romantic purposes but because I think he would make an amazing friend. He's so loyal and supportive.

4. To which character do you relate the most? This is probably going to be my longest answer. Hana is the character I relate to the most. I grew up with all these expectations of who I should be. We didn't have much because my mom was a single parent. She always found a way to pay for things like dance, swimming, cheer, softball, glee club, etc. I spent a lot of time honing skills that could 'help' me get into college because it was going to be the only way I could go. There was also the way people in our town looked at me. When you live in the projects, that is where you are expected to stay. It still hurts when I think about the people who said I was going to be just like all the other girls who grew up in low income. Pregnant and a drop out by 16. None of them seemed to care that I only had eyes for one boy. A boy that was probably just using me for easy sex according to most of them. He came from money and college was something he didn't have to worry about. I spent most of high school feeling not good enough for him or trying to prove myself to others and to my mother. Feeling lost and not good enough really sucks. (For those who are curious, I'm still with him. We've been married since we were 19 and have 2 amazing children that have grown up entirely too fast.) So yes, I feel like Hana. I struggle with believing in myself or believing others when they tell me I'm good at something because I don't feel that way most of the time.

5. What was the first book you’ve ever played? Most Wanted. In general, I like crime mysteries. I was actually really disappointed in Most Wanted though. I didn't like Sam and I hated that they started hinting at a romantic involvement. I just wanted the crime solving folks.

6. Which book have you replayed the most times? The Royal Romance. There's just something about the characters that make me 'feel.' And that isn't an easy task.

7. Would you rather have Hero 2 or Most Wanted 2? Is it wrong of me to say neither? Both books bored me to tears.

8. Did you like LoveHacks? Oh yeah. I am a sucker for friends falling in love with each other. Since that is the premise for most of the book (okay maybe not but for me it is) it was an easy mini series to get attached to.

9. Did you like RoE? I really wanted to like it. It had an interesting concept but there was such poor character development I couldn't get into. The MC came across as this 'what do I do, what do I do' ninny who, no matter what choices you made, was stupid enough to sleep with any guy who said the right things. Don't get me started on Nana. I understand that she wanted her grandchildren to 'earn' their inheritance but the way she went about it was wrong. I also don't think she was all that great of a person when she was alive either. The aunt didn't develop those feelings overnight or without something stirring them up. Plus, trying to force the nerdy twin into doing outlandish things? Not cool. Things like tattoos should be personal, not forced.

10.Which MC (in your opinion) is the most beautiful? (you can post a pic of them so we can all admire them). I know most won't agree because I see this face getting a lot of hate but I think the LH/HFTH/TRR MC is the prettiest.

11. Which female character (from any book) is the prettiest in your opinion? For me, it would have to be Sloane. She is so sweet and that smile...ah! She's just adorable!

12.Which male character (from any book) is the most handsome in your opinion? This is so hard but I have to say Mark from LH. He's such a doll.

13.Which character is the most intriguing? Maxwell from The Royal Romance. Everyone sees him as this fun loving guy but I think there is more to him then that. And I think it would be cool to see other sides to him.

14.If you could befriend one character from any book, who would it be and why? It would probably be Madeleine. A lot of people hate her, but I think she is the type of person who once she gives her friendship she is loyal until her dying breath, plus she is honest without bias. That is hard to find and something I look for in a friend.

15.Which MC has the best outfits? Red Carpet Diaries for sure. I would wear every single one of those outfits.

16.Into which book would you rather be transported and live the life of that book’s MC? Home For The Holidays. The love she shares with her mother and brother, as well as the way her hometown respects her, is just so sweet. I didn't like the way we were forced to 'promote' Holly's awful book but I did like the rest of the story. Who knows, maybe one day I will re-write the thing in a more likable manner.

17.List 5 characters that you dislike the most. Victoria from RCD (the way she originally attacks the MC is a deal breaker for me. I don't care how angry you are, you don't physically attack someone) Nadia from Perfect Match (I just want to shake her and tell her to knock it off most of the time) Jane from ILITW (she was the one who led them to the meeting house, she's the one who insisted on befriending the evil demon living inside, and she's the one who turned her otherwise docile brother into a jerk who was willing to kill. I have so many more reasons but those are the main.) Marty from LH (he knows what a sexist pig TJ is but yet he does nothing about it. And to me that is worse than TJ being a sexist pig.) Emma's mom in HSS (She just comes across as a little too desperate and unable to live without a man in her life.)
