There weren't many people that would do this, that would give it their all when sparring with the heir of the throne of Umoria, but the half-giant knew that playing with kid gloves wasn't the best way for someone to learn how to fight. And that was why, even now that he had been named Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, he was still the prince's chosen to train with. Because he pushed him, with strength and technique that came with generations of warriors with giant's blood in their veins, and because he understood... There was no coddling in war.

"One of these days, my prince, you're going to grow tired of me putting you to the dirt," Rodrik goaded, a small smirk upon his lips before he adjusted his weapon and began to surge forward to strike again.
After a few more moments, when they had finished sparring, he raised a brow at the prince as he approached him. "Tell me, your grace, what is it that has your ire? Surely I have not done anything to earn it."

"Again!" Gethin grunted as he stood up from the dirt, wiping sweat from his forehead as Rodrik's blow had launched him onto the well worn earth. This had been their sparring spot of years, even since Gethin had been a teen and been handed a sword. He had met the ground many time in their short time out here, the sun shining above and the creatures of the wilderness chirping and calling out around them. Gethin was clearly unfocused, sloppy in his approach, maybe a little angry. His grip tightened on his training sword, sweat soaking his light leather armor and he was on Rodrik quickly, sword lashing out, trying to strike back. His ire was not one Rodrik, but on his mind, letting out a nearly feral growl of effort. Perhaps landing on the forest floor with a well struck hit from Rodrik felt good? He didn't want to think of it. "Don't hold back!" Gethin huffed.
