The Tale of Despereaux (2008)
The Tale of Despereaux is Directed by Robert Stevenhagen and Sam Fell. Its an animation about a mouse who wants adventure and wants to save the princess, the rat who is considered an outcast but wants to rejoin society, and a princess, who spends all her remaining days locked away in the castle hoping for it to rain.
This animation inspired my character who I would like to use for my final project this year. The style and even the character of Despereaux intrigued me. The idea of a heroic character mistaken for the villain is something I want to add for the project.

The Tale of Desperaux (2008) - dir. Sam Fell & Robert Stevenhagen
An all-star cast (of voice actors), and some beautiful animation come together to bring us a very predictable tale about striving to be good. Desperaux himself has zero character development. The animation is gorgeous but very simple, there's often only one or two things on the screen, and then a backdrop. The contrasting is interesting...
I don't know. I could tell while I was watching it that most people probably didn't like it. It's not very memorable, but I enjoyed myself. I was rooting for Roscuro, partly because I love Dustin Hoffman, but partly because this little trilogy of triumphs revolved around him. Lacking a clear protagonist (we all know who it was supposed to be) but making up for it with heart, I thought it was charming.
