To keep from being eaten by a modern-day witch (Deborah Harry), a young paperboy weaves three twisted stories to distract her. In “Lot 249,” a vengeful college student (Steve Buscemi) resuscitates an evil mummy to teach unsuspecting student bodies (Julianne Moore, Christian Slater) a lesson in terror. Then, “Cat From Hell” is a furry black feline who cannot be killed… he may have nine lives, but those who cross his path are not so lucky. Finally, in “Lover’s Vow,” a stone gargoyle comes to life to commit murder.
Pre-order Tales from the Darkside: The Movie.

This is long but it is important. Thanks for this!
#resist
This is where I stand. I feel that our 45th President, his Cabinet and administration, and the majority of Republicans in Congress are a real and active threat to me, my way of life, and all the people I love. Some people are saying that we should give Trump a chance, that we should "work together" with him because he won the election and he is "everyone's president." I am willing to do all of that if/when his policies seem reasonable. However:
•I will not forget how badly he and so many others treated former President Barack Obama for 8 years...
•I will not "work together" to privatize Medicare, cut Social Security and Medicaid.
•I will not "work together" to build a wall.
•I will not "work together" to persecute Muslims.
•I will not "work together" to shut out refugees from other countries.
•I will not "work together" to lower taxes on the 1% and increase taxes on the middle class and poor.
•I will not "work together" to help Trump use the Presidency to line his pockets and those of his family and cronies.
•I will not "work together" to weaken and demolish environmental protection.
•I will not "work together" to sell American lands, especially National Parks, to companies which then spoil those lands.
•I will not "work together" to enable the killing of whole species of animals just because they are predators or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them.
•I will not "work together" to remove civil rights from anyone.
•I will not "work together" to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive.
•I will not "work together" to slash funding for public education.
•I will not "work together" to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.
•I will not "work together" to get rid of common sense regulations on guns.
•I will not "work together" to mark transgendered men and women as something to fear.
•I will not "work together" to eliminate the minimum wage.
•I will not "work together" to support so-called "Right To Work" laws, or undermine, weaken or destroy Unions in any way.
•I will not "work together" to suppress scientific research, be it on climate change, fracking, or any other issue where a majority of scientists agree that Trump and his supporters are wrong on the facts.
•I will not "work together" to criminalize abortion or restrict health care for women.
•I will not "work together" to increase the number of nations that have nuclear weapons.
•I will not "work together" to put even more "big money" into politics.
•I will not "work together" to violate the Geneva Convention.
•I will not "work together" to give the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party and white supremacists a seat at the table, or to normalize their hatred.
•I will not "work together" to deny health care to people who need it.
•I will not "work together" to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of a "pre-existing condition."
•I will not "work together" to increase voter suppression.
•I will not "work together" to normalize tyranny.
•I will not “work together” to eliminate or reduce ethical oversight at any level of government.
•I will not "work together" with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators.
•I will not support anyone that thinks its OK to put a pipeline to transport oil on Sacred Ground for Native Americans. And, it would run under the Missouri River, which provides drinking water for millions of people. An accident waiting to happen.
This is my line, and I am drawing it.
•I will stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings.
•I will use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN:
That "winning", "being great again", "rich" or even "beautiful" is nothing... When others are sacrificed to glorify its existence.
If you agree, feel free to copy and re-post (this results in larger numbers of people seeing a post than sharing...just press your finger down on your phone screen, hit "copy", go to your Facebook...comment by pressing your finger on your comment area and hit "paste"), and if you want, sign your name below ours.
Also, if we have left anything out, feel free to add it to this list.

Indexes of advertisers & fashion houses participating in the Fashion Pageant 1924 St. Louis
This entry is part 3 of 26 in the series 1924 St. Louis Fashion Pageant
These last pages contain the list of participating St. Louis fashion houses and an index of advertisers, as well as general business to business ads and misc. fashion advertisements. What an interesting glimpse into the history of fashion- who would have guessed that St. Louis had so many designers and was a center of fashion in the 1920s?!
The only 2 pages left to scan are the color ads at the end, which I will post tomorrow!
I’ve gone ahead and converted the index of advertisers and the list of fashion houses to text (forgive my lack of formatting), and then below that are my scans:

Blu-ray Review: Tales from the Darkside: The Movie
Tumblr media
Tales from the Darkside: The Movie is, of course, a feature film based on the horror anthology TV series, but many fans also recognize it as the true Creepshow 3. Unlike the eventual third installment, which was made years later to cash in on the title recognition, Tales from the Darkside involved many of the crew members behind the first two Creepshow films. George A. Romero served as a writer, bestowing directorial duties to frequent collaborator John Harrison (who served as first assistant director of Creepshow and Day of the Dead). Produced independently, the film was released by Paramount in 1990, just two years after the series wrapped its four-season run.
In lieu of repeating Creepshow's comic book inspirations, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie adopts a Grimm's fairy tale approach. The Hansel and Gretel-esque wraparound, written by Michael McDowell (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), stars Debbie Harry (of Blondie fame) as a suburban housewife preparing for a dinner party. The main course? A young boy (Matthew Lawrence, Mrs. Doubtfire). In an attempt to prolong his life, the imprisoned child regales his captor with three spooky fables.
Tumblr media
McDowell adapts Arthur Conan Doyle's "Lot 249" short story for the first segment. Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs) plays Bellingham, a grad student who brings a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy back to life to exact revenge on his preppy classmates - Andy (Christian Slater, Interview with the Vampire), Lee (Robert Sedgwick, Die Hard with a Vengeance), and Susan (the big screen debut of Julianne Moore, The Lost World: Jurassic Park) - who conspired to cheat him out of a fellowship.
Originally planned for Creepshow 2, the middle segment sees Romero adapting Stephen King's "The Cat from Hell" short story (later collected in Just After Sunset). In it, a rich, wheelchair-bound old man, Drogan (William Hickey, Christmas Vacation), hires a hitman, Halston (David Johansen, of the New York Dolls fame), to eliminate an unlikely target: a black cat, which Drogan alleges already killed the manor's other three inhabitants.
Tumblr media
The final story, "Lover's Vow," is the strongest. McDowell wrote it based on the Japanese legend of Yuki-onna. It centers on Preston (James Remar, The Warriors), a struggling artist whose life turns around after a run-in with a giant, talking gargoyle. Preston is sworn to secrecy in exchange for his life. 10 years later, he must face the consequences when he shares the secret with his wife, Carola (Rae Dawn Chong, Commando), who he met that fateful night.
With polished production values, a star-studded cast, and top-notch special effects, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie stands strong among the best horror anthologies. A rarity for the subgenre, it's fairly consistent in terms of quality among the segments - arguably even more so than either Creepshow film. While Tom Savini's handiwork is missed, there are no complaints about the special effects accomplished by KNB EFX Group (From Dusk Till Dawn, Scream), with the legendary Dick Smith (The Exorcist, Scanners) serving as consultant. The gargoyle is their most impressive feat, with an expensive animatronic head plus a gnarly transformation sequence, while "Cat from Hell" showcases the goriest scene.
Tumblr media
The wraparound helps the film play as a cohesive piece, but Harrison worked with cinematographer Robert Draper (Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers) and the composers to give each segment a unique aesthetic. The wraparound offers a modern look and features music by Donald Rubinstein (Martin), including a reimagined, orchestral version of his theme from the TV series. "Lot 249" draws inspiration from 1940s adventure cinema with a warm color palette and an orchestral score by Jim Manzie & Pat Regan (Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III). "Cat from Hell" embraces film noir with shadowy camerawork and blue-tinted flashbacks (with clever, in-camera transitions) and an atonal score by Chaz Jankel (D.O.A.). "Lover's Vow" features a cool color palette and soft lighting to reflect the romance, which is echoed in Harrison's own music.
Tales from the Darkside: The Movie has received a Collector's Edition Blu-ray from Scream Factory. The film’s existing high definition transfer is presented with DTS-HD Master 5.1 and 2.0 audio options, along with two audio commentaries. The first is a new track by co-producer David R. Kappes. Perhaps better suited for the documentary portion, his memory is understandably hazy after 30 years, but he looks back fondly on the film plus shares anecdotes about working on Jaws 3-D and Harrison's Dune. The second commentary is an archival track with Harrison and Romero recorded for a DVD release circa 2000. It's a warm chat between longtime friends.
Tumblr media
The Blu-ray is worth the upgrade for Tales Behind the Darkside: The Making of Four Ghoulish Fables, a feature-length documentary featuring Harrison, Remar, Chong, and various crew members. It's broken up into six parts (one for each segment, pre-production, post-production, and the release/legacy), totaling over 100 minutes. It's a joy to see Scream Factory return to the cohesive, documentary format rather than individual interviews. Michael Felsher was the perfect candidate to pull it off; not only is his Red Shirt Pictures is responsible for many of the best Blu-ray extras, but he also helmed Just Desserts: The Making of Creepshow. The disc also includes 11 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from KNB, the theatrical trailer, two TV spots, three radio spots, a still gallery, and a behind-the-scenes gallery.
Tales from the Darkside: The Movie will be released on Blu-ray on August 25 via Scream Factory.

Microreview Round Seven: BOOKSHELVES
This round is open to interpretation, so don’t let the word bookshelves stop you. Whether your collection is big or small, physical or digital, your parents’ or from the library, it counts as a bookshelf here. To play: answer the prompts and tag your friends to do the same. Optional: use #microreview and check out @microreviews  for “rules,” reviews, and more!
I was tagged by wonderful @shadowtearling (THANK YOU!) to talk about my bookshelf and pleeeeease…. I love my piece of heaven! If I have a bad mood or need to calm myself down, one look at my bookshelf saves the day. It’s not big, but it’s mine.😍 The photo doesn’t show all books as I also have another bookshelf at my parent’s, in my child room, but I still haven’t had time to take all my precious books to my flat.
What genres or types of books dominate your shelf?
As strange as it may sounds, I’ve never thought about it before. Probably classics, as I had to read a lot of them during my university studies - my fav one being Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice and All Quiet on the Western Front. Recently I’ve got hooked on a fantasy genre, so I’ve been extending my collection with fantasy worlds - but I am picky. I don’t fall for dwarfs, giants, dragons and stuff. The fantasy must be original, have a message… The best ones are stories taking place in the future after some apocalyptic event. My fav one is definitely the Tearling series by Erika Johansen. I am a bitch for these.
What do you wish you had more of?
I wish I had all of my most favourite books in two languages: Czech, my native language, and English. First, I need to complete my Harry Potter collection. So far, I have all seven main books in both languages. Then I have some special HP related book but each either in one or the other: Hogwarts Library, The Cursed Child, Film Wizadry, Page to Screen, HP world dictionary, HP actors’ biographies, colouring books etc. which I want also in Czech/English, if it exists. yes, I’m a Potterhead if you haven’t noticed
The same I want with the Tearling Series. I’ve got two out of three books in Czech (the third is released in autumn), just one in English. And if Erika releases another Tearling related stories, you bet they’re gonna shine on my bookshelf…
Then British classics… I plan to have Brontës, Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Mary Shelley etc. bilingually. *dreamy eyes*
Last but not least, I just need to have all @positivelyamazonian stories printed, as books, and placed on my bookshelf, among my most favourite jewels.
Smallest book?
Pierre and Luce by Romain Rolland (104 pages). I’ve recently bought it to my collection because romance classic and because it had such a beautiful cover I couldn’t resist. Also, I have this personal, silly, fluffy reason - my name is Lucie and my bf’s is Petr which are Czech versions of Pierre and Luce… Like that couldn’t miss in my book heaven, right?! *sentimental*
Largest book?
Non-fiction: My encyclopedia, having around 800 pages, which I was given as a present by my parents when I was a child. They themselves have a huge history of the world with nearly 2000 pages - heavy beast it is. Fiction: A Dance with Dragons by G. R. R. Martin
Oldest book? Newest book?
Oldest: I have some books I took from my grantparents’ library dating back to 1950s; mainly war narratives by Erich Maria Remarque. At my parent’s I also have a book with fairy-tales from 1940s. Newest: Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Sussana Clark and The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza.
Does anything live there besides books?
Does colouring books and diaries count as books? If yes, then I keep crayons there.
I tag: @positivelyamazonian @hydraballista @a-super-evil-cat-who-murders @castlekriegler @maximanxd
I am not forcing you to do this but it would be so nice if you could share your book heaven. Also, anyone who I didn’t tag but would like to join, please, do it! If I have any favourite not TR related stuff on my dash, it’s book related posts.

R's Reviews: #09 - Chef
#09 : Chef IMDB SCORE : 7.3/10 TOMATOMETER : 86% RR RATING : 9/10 Jon Favreau delivers yet again as a director, this time allowing himself to flaunt his acting talents in the lead role of acclaimed chef Carl Casper. The plot follows an astounding head chef, who seeks a fresh start to exploit his passion and creativeness after he is derailed by a seething review from Los Angeles' most prestigious food critic. Humiliated, Carl quits his job to then be convinced to travel to Miami with his estranged ex-wife Inez (Sofia Vergara) and their tech savvy 10-year-old, Percy. The journey to self-discovery is ignited by Inez's divorcee - Robert Downey Jr.'s abnormal character of Marvin, as he gifts Carl an abused and grotty old food truck. Carl, with the help of his son and life long colleague, transforms the four-wheeled garbage into an inspiring solution; a solution which will reunite his drifting family whilst serving has his fresh start. 'Chef' is a masterpiece, giving audiences an inspiring storyline fuelled by mouthwatering dishes and a well-fitted soundtrack consisting of intense latin rhythm, featuring legends such as Santana. Another great aspect was of course the cast, whom although were used in small-parts all contributed to the excellent production. The additions of Scarlett Johansen, Dustin Hoffman, and John Leguizamo all gave realistic performances that matched an admirable script, which did not drift into mockable or cheesy cliches with it being a reuniting of a father and his distant son. The main characters were all immediately charming, which engaged audiences into their story - especially the character of 'Percy'. Newcomer Emjay Anthony gave a very genuine performance, this surprised me due to the young age of the promising youth actor. 'Chef' is a surprising treat, to which all courses are fast-paced yet satisfying. For me, this is near-perfect movie with zero flaws which concludes in a fulfilling finale. Captivating performances of Favreau and Anthony make this a must-see feel-good film.

Free Agency: A Veterans Nightmare?
This offseason has been fairly exciting with the addition of the Vegas Golden Knights and some big name free agents switching teams. However, it has also been a nightmare for some of the most well known Veteran players who are waiting for a contract. The most well known Veteran Free Agents include Jaromir Jagr, Jarome Iginla, Shane Doan, Andrei Markov and others. Most teams seem disinterested in these players but many of them are still useful and are eager to continue playing in the NHL. The question is where will they end up?
Mike Fisher
Age: 37
Position: Center
2016-17 Games Played: 72
2016-17 Goals: 18
2016-17 Points: 42
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 16:37
Previous Team: Nashville Predators
Contract: 4,400,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Mike Fisher is a useful Center with a good that was solid on face-offs and helped lead the Predators to a Stanley Cup Final in 2016-17. His 42 points were the most in a season since 2013-14 and he doesn’t demand a high amount of ice time or role.
Best Fit: Nashville Predators, this is obvious. His wife, Carrie Underwood is a country superstar, he is happy in Nashville and was the Predators captain last season. He will likely take a pay cut and the Predators will have money after signing Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson.
Prediction: Signs a two-year deal with the Predators.
Chance he Retires: 5%, He was so close to his first Stanley Cup and he had a great season.
Francois Beauchemin
Age: 37
Position: Defenseman
2016-17 Games Played: 81
2016-17 Goals: 5
2016-17 Points: 18
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 21:30
Previous Team: Colorado Avalanche
Contract: 4,500,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Beauchemin has been a good, durable defenseman since the 2005 NHL Lockout and although he isn’t really recognized as a star defenseman, he is a good puck moving veteran presence on any team. The Colorado Avalanche were awful last season and that might have hurt Beauchemin’s stock but teams should still be interested in defenseman for the right price. He was however bought out by the Avalanche this offseason as he was expected to receiver 4.5 million next season with the club.
Best Fit: Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have plenty of Cap Space and zero defenseman over the age of 26. A mentor like Beauchemin would go a long way for a team trying to make a statement next season.
Prediction: Signs a 1 year deal with either Carolina, New Jersey or Ottawa.
Chance he Retires: 20%. Beauchemin being bought out by the Avalanche hurts and most teams wouldn’t need his services but a 1 year deal seems reasonable for a team looking for depth on the back end.
Mike Ribeiro
Age: 37
Position: Center
2016-17 Games Played: 46
2016-17 Goals: 4
2016-17 Points: 25
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 15:58
Previous Team: Nashville Predators
Contract: 3,500,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Ribeiro was an set-up specialist in Nashville with 111 Assists in 209 games. He is an undervalued and sometimes heavily criticized forward that was sent down to the AHL mid way through this season where he had 26 points in 28 games. Ribeiro obviously still has game but with his goal scoring dropping and his defense liability, teams aren’t looking at him.
Best Fit: Florida Panthers. The Panthers are in a weird stage and nobody is sure whether they are rebuilding or trying to contend. Attending a veteran like Ribeiro as an option at Center adds to their depth and makes them more dangerous in the East.
Prediction: Ribeiro doesn’t get offered a contract and he retires after the season starts.
Chance he Retires: 75%, Ribeiro was always a pleasure to watch but it seems like their is no interest in the forward.
Chris Neil
Age: 38
Position: Right Wing
2016-17 Games Played: 53
2016-17 Goals: 1
2016-17 Points: 4
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 07:34
Previous Team: Ottawa Senators
Contract: 1,500,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Neil is one of the last true NHL Enforcers and after spending his entire career with the Senators, the two sides parted ways this offseason. Neil is a fighter and a 4th line energy guy that brings it every night. Could be valuable to a team in need of a true 4th line.
Best Fit: Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes ranked dead last in Fighting majors with only 6 in 2016-17. Although their roster is fairly full already at the forward position. Neil could be a healthy scratch most nights and come in when the team needs energy or during injuries.
Prediction: Neil doesn’t get a Contract, signs a front office job with the Senators.
Chance He Retires: 90%, NHL Teams don’t value guys like Chris Neil anymore unfortunately.
Brian Gionta
Age: 38
Position: Right Wing
2016-17 Games Played: 82
2016-17 Goals: 15
2016-17 Points: 35
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 16:36
Previous Team: Buffalo Sabres
Contract: 4,250,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Brian Gionta was the Captain for the Sabres over the past 3 seasons and was a good leader for the rebuilding franchise. With the return of former captain Jason Pominville, the Sabres seemed to have moved on from Gionta and his services. He has scored at least 33 points in 4 consecutive seasons and is a Stanley Cup Champion.
Best Fit: Winnipeg Jets. The Jets have added defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and Goaltender Steve Mason this offseason and seem determined to make the postseason. Adding Brian Gionta would add some much needed Veteran experience in the forward core.
Prediction: Gionta signs a one year deal with a team.
Chance He Retires: 30%, Gionta’s Stats are strong and his past three seasons haven’t given an indication of him slowing down.
Andrei Markov
Age: 38
Position: Defenseman
2016-17 Games Played: 62
2016-17 Goals: 6
2016-17 Points: 36
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 21:50
Previous Team: Montreal Canadiens
Contract: 5,750,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Markov is one of the best players on this list of Veterans and is still better than a lot of NHL Defenseman. He has consistently been one of Montreal’s and Russia's best defenseman for the best 10 years and it seems absurd that he is still available. The Canadiens are hopefully looking to sign him after missing out on star forward Alexander Radulov.
Best Fit: Montreal Canadiens. Markov has spent his entire NHL career with the Canadiens and it wouldn’t seem right to have him finish his career elsewhere. Montreal still has 9 million dollars in cap space to sign the Russian defenseman.
Prediction: Signs with the Montreal Canadiens to a 2 year deal or signs in the KHL, so he can compete in the 2018 Olympics.
Chance He Retires: 1%, There is a good chance that he heads to Russia but Markov will not retire.
Mark Streit
Age: 39
Position: Defenseman
2016-17 Games Played: 68
2016-17 Goals: 6
2016-17 Points: 27
2016-17 Minutes Per Game: 19:23
Previous Team: Pittsburgh Penguins
Contract: 5,250,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Mark Streit is arguably the best Swiss Defenseman of all time and at age 39 still has some game left but league interest is dwindling. Streit was acquired by the Penguins at the deadline from the Flyers and had 1 goal and 6 points in 19 games with the club. He also played 3 playoff games but was largely a healthy scratch throughout the postseason. His offensive numbers have dropped significantly over the past few seasons and the Veteran may just retire now that he won his first Stanley Cup with the Penguins this season.
Best Fit: Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers have been Streit’s home for the past 4 seasons and at 39, the veteran defenseman is likely content in Pennsylvania. The Flyers also only have room to slot into their top 6 defensive pairings unless Travis Sanheim or Robert Hagg find a permanent NHL spot.
Prediction: Streit retires a happy man and moves back to Switzerland after winning his first Stanley Cup in his 12 year NHL career.
Chance he Retires: 80%, Mark Streit could still play if he wanted but it would make sense for the Veteran to retire after winning the Stanley Cup.
Jarome Iginla
Age: 40
Position: Right Wing
2016-17 Game Played: 80
2016-17 Goals: 14
2016-17 Points: 27
2016-17 Minutes per game: 14:44
Previous Team: Los Angeles Kings
Contract: 5,333,333 Cap Hit
Analysis: This past season was awful for Jarome Iginla. He had previously scored at least 20 goals in every full season since 1998 when he was 22 and scored 13 goals and 32 points. This season he had 14 goals and 27 points. 27 points is the lowest point total of his career and the first time he has recorded under 40 points since 1998. Iginla was slightly better after being traded at the deadline to Los Angeles, where he scored 6 goals and 9 points in 19 games. This season unfortunately gives major red flags to all GM’s of a future star that is well past his prime.
Best Fit: Calgary Flames. Iginla is a Canadian and Calgary hockey legend. He spent 16 seasons in Calgary and the best memories of his career are in Calgary. The Flames could give him a veteran minimum to add leadership to the young club on a one year deal.
Prediction: Iginla unfortunately doesn’t get offered a contract and has to retire.
Chance he retires: 75%, Iginla is still valuable with his leadership abilities but his days as a top 6 forward are over.
Matt Cullen
Age: 40
Position: Center
2016-17 Games Played: 72
2016-17 Goals: 13
2016-17 Points: 31
2016-17 Minutes per game: 13:55
Previous Team: Pittsburgh Penguins
Contract: 1,000,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Matt Cullen is one of the best shutdown Centers in the NHL and he has been a key piece to Pittsburgh’s last two Stanley Cups. He has played 49 playoff games in the past two seasons with 6 goals and 15 points. Cullen is playing like a 30 year old and could easily sign another contract to benefit any teams bottom six immediately.
Best Fit: Pittsburgh Penguins. I can’t see Matt Cullen signing anywhere else in the NHL. He either retires with Back-to-back Stanley Cups or returns to play with Pittsburgh in an attempt to get a third. The Penguins still have a spot for him in their bottom six available if he decides to stay.
Prediction: Cullen signs a 1 year contract at a veteran minimum with the Penguins.
Chance he retires: 40%, Cullen was the hardest to predict because of how likely both scenarios are.
Shane Doan
Age: 40
Position: Right wing
2016-17 Games Played: 74
2016-17 Goals: 6
2016-17 Points: 27
2016-17 Minutes per game: 15:02
Previous Team: Arizona Coyotes
Contract: 3,876,134 Cap Hit
Analysis: Shane Doan and the Coyotes have finally split ways after 21 seasons with the franchise that drafted him when they were still the Winnipeg Jets. Doan’s offensive numbers were fairly disappointing in 2016-17 but the long time Coyotes captain believes he can still play another year.
Best Fit: Vegas Golden Knights. Shane Doan has the best experience of a new club starting in the Southern United States and he would be able to be a strong leader and a fan draw in the Vegas area. The Golden Knights also have nothing to lose because everyone’s expectations of the franchise in its first year is fairly low.
Prediction: Doan retires and signs with the Arizona Coyotes to work in the Management part of the club.
Chance he retires: 65%, The Golden Knights idea makes a lot of sense, he could also return to his rookie club, the Winnipeg Jets. So Doan could be playing next season but he likely retires.
Jaromir Jagr
Age: 45
Position: Right Wing
2016-17 Games Played: 82
2016-17 Goals: 16
2016-17 Points: 46
2016-17 Minutes per game: 16:59
Previous Team: Florida Panthers
Contract: 4,000,000 Cap Hit
Analysis: Jagr is the best player on the list and he is 45 years old. He played all 82 games last season and was 4th on the Panthers in scoring with 46 points. Regardless on how well Jagr plays next season, he is a hockey legend and will attract fans every game. He also is a great leader and is smart about the way he handles himself off the ice in his conditioning and diet. It’s absurd that he is still available.
Best Fit: Calgary Flames. The Flames top six needs some addition help next season to push them onto the second round. They also need a good veteran forward to help Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Bennett, Sean Monahan and Curtis Lazar. Matt Stajan is their current veteran. Jagr is 12 years older than him and unlike Stajan, Jagr actually has a lot of playoff experience.
Prediction: Jagr signs a one year deal with a club. Any club would be good for him. I just hope he doesn’t head to Ottawa, Boston, Pittsburgh or Chicago next season.
Chance he Retires: 0.001% Jagr will probably play until his kids get drafted into the NHL, so it’s pretty much a 0% chance he retires.

This is where I stand. Our 45th President, his power hungry cronies taking positions of authority in his Cabinet and administration, and the majority of Republicans in Congress are a real and active threat to me, my way of life, and all the people I love. Some people are saying that we should give Trump a chance, that we should "work together" with him because he won the election and he is "everyone's president." This is my response: •I will not "work together" to privatize Medicare, cut Social Security and Medicaid. •I will not "work together" to sell American lands, especially National Parks, to companies which then despoil those lands. •I will not "work together" to enable the killing of whole species of animals just because they are predators, or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them. •I will not "work together" to remove civil rights from anyone. •I will not "work together" to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive. •I will not "work together" to slash funding for education. •I will not "work together" to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder. •I will not "work together" to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of a "pre-existing condition." •I will not "work together" to increase voter suppression. •I will not "work together" to normalize tyranny. I will not “work together” to eliminate or reduce ethical oversite at any level of government. •I will not "work together" with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators. •I will not support anyone that thinks its OK to put a pipeline to transport oil on Sacred Ground for Native Americans. This is my line, and I am drawing it. •I WILL stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings, and for the beating heart that is the center of Life itself. •I WILL use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN: That "winning", "being great again", "rich" or even "beautiful" is nothing...
