Road Bullies

This might not be the best first ever post on Tumblr. But hey! This is the very reason why I created an account here. I just don’t think that I wanted to post this on my Twitter account, so yeah.

I have been driving for a few years now. I’m driving a hatchback car. Road bullies are not new to me. They are everywhere. But I have never experienced being bullied until yesterday.

Yes. Yesterday afternoon (or early evening), I was bullied by a jeepney driver in one of the residential streets in Makati City in the Philippines. It was not a good encounter. I was on hazard because I just dropped my sister, her kids and my brother-in-law in their home. I was sitting on the driver’s seat, arranging the car mirrors like every driver would do before they start to actually drive. Then all of a sudden, a jeepney appeared from the highway turning to the street where I am at. There was not really enough space for the both of us as there are lots of cars parked on one side of the road and we only have one lane to share. I was about one house away from the highway where the jeep came from. But instead of backing off and let me drive the remaining 5-10 meters to the highway, the jeepney driver was so eager to let me drive back to the other end of the street which is around 100-200 meters long.

There’s really no way for me to go. And he purposely scaring me by continuing to drive towards where I am. My car and his jeepney was literally few inches away.

Good thing that a man came and assist me on driving my car up to the sidewalk so that the bully jeepney driver can get through since he didn’t really seem to want to give up. The driver was hard-headed, the man who helped me said.

Like I said, it was not a good experience and it pains me and even made me very angry to see and witness and experience that road bullies are real. I hope they will learn their lesson someday. And I hope no one else experience the same ever. Because it really drained all my strength. I felt depressed and anxious but there’s nothing that I can do anymore.
