We've made it safely back home. We got into Kansas on Sunday and took a Lyft to Liquid Art Winery so we could both drink. The flatbread was amazing, I gotta say, and the cider always hits. Dad and I came through back in 2018 and he bought a case of the apple pie cider to take home, and I recently finished that case, so we bought a few more bottles to bring home. (They didn't sell by the case anymore, lmao, and it's not like we had the room in the car the way Dad and I did in the truck.)
It was a great trip, but I gotta say, I was glad to sleep in my own bed last night. Nineteen days on the road is a long time.
In three weeks, though, I'm off on another road trip, this time with some friends for some concert shenanigans. So stick around, and I'll see you all again next month!

110. Get VIP passes to a show 194. Stay awake for 24 hours 120. Party in a private booth Okay y'all, so the last weekend in April my friends and I took a road trip to Vegas for my birthday! This is where a whole lot of foolery happened lol We left for Vegas at 10:30 and got there at around 2:30. We got ready in the parking garage (yes the parking garage. 😂 I wanted to go to a restaurant and change but nooo monique said we could change there so we went with it 😂 when in Vegas right?) anyway so we had all been up since at least 6am the previous day, so we were in for a long night. Lol so we headed to Drais after hours around 3 and the shenans began. I was so tired lol but we had lots of fun. So we get to drais and this promoter stops us and says "Y'all going to Drais? I nod and say Yea. And he's like come on I'll get y'all in. So we're like okay! Lol so he gets us in for free and we head into the elevator to get to VIP. Once we get there the guy buys us drinks and says, "enjoy sweethearts." 😏 so we're chillin there and the guy starts asking us what we're doing later on.. I say we're gonna go to a club and he's like ok. You ladies want to go see Migos? We're like yea but the tickets are too expensive. He reaches in his wallet and hands us 3 VIP tickets to Migos that night. I was like whhhhaaaattttt?! Lol Thank you! Then We got the heck out of there because I didn't know if he wanted something else from us lol he was being too nice 😂 We got back to the hotel about 8am tired and lookin a mess 😂 We ended up not going to the show because we were tired as heck and needed a nap lol but it was great to be given that for free tho! Just wished we weren't so tired lol We ended up back there the next night and did it all over again lol We had too much fun that weekend! It was amazing!

We put Dad out to sea. It was unreasonably gorgeous, and everything worked just right. Mom's cousin brought cupcakes, not knowing red velvet was Dad's favorite. It was just... perfect.

Monterey dump 1.
Oh, Casa de Fruta rocks. :3 (they're chocolate.) It's been a good while since I've had them. We got to the Pajaro house on Sunday, and had our choice of the bedrooms since it turned out to be just me and Mom. The view was amazing, and the tv had an hdmi cable available so I could hook my laptop up. A friend came and spent Monday with me which was the best time, and then Tuesday.

San Dimas dump, pt 3.
Dad's memorial went great. It was exactly the kind of thing he would've loved, and it was nice seeing everyone out here again. Mom and I went to Legends after unwinding, since this has been a rather Route 66 centered trip so far, lol.
Today we head up to Monterey!

San Dimas dump, pt 2.
So San Dimas has a car show now! This isn't even all of the photos I took, just what fits in tumblr's 10 photo limit. Mom and I talked about how much Dad and Leather would've loved this. I still wanna know who the hell has a lambo in San Dimas, though.

San Dimas Dump, pt 1.
It's been a long week, but a lot of it has been behind-the-scenes stuff: prepping for the memorial, catching up with family. I finally made it to my alma mater on Friday, got recognized by some of my teachers and caught up with them. The band's come a long way since I was there, which was such a delight to learn about (I was part of the band teacher's first freshman class, so there's some sentimental connections going on there). We went to Montana's, because as a kid I'd always wanted to visit but my parents moved to Missouri before I was old enough. Of course, I couldn't drink this time, for health reasons, but we'll rectify that next time we visit.

The bitch is back in the valley! Will probably be taking it easy the next couple days to recover from driving so much. Tonight, Mom and I walked to dinner and imbibed, so I am possibly a little drunk right now.

Tempe! I didn't even think to get pics of campus lmao, i spent 2 and a half years there i don't need more reminders of it. Mom and I got a couple "house divided" stickers for the vehicles before heading out. I have had in n out for lunch two days in a row now, i am Living The Life.
Stopped in to spend some time catching up with the girlfriend and meeting the cats—these are the only two i managed to get pictures of, but trust i got plenty of feline affection. :3
Got turned around a bit on our way out of town, ended up seeing The Best license plate and frame in a sbux parking lot. Sw1ft13, if you're out there, i love you.

Mom crashed early last night so I didn't have a chance to take photos of everything I wanted until today. (I also ended up in a foul mood bc of some hotel guests' self-absorbtion that was indistinguishable from out and out selfishness.)
Anyway. Gallup, NM, and the historic El Rancho hotel! Dad and I stayed here on a different cross-country trip, so I wanted to bring Mom here as well. The hotel is so delightfully western themed, with homages to old Western stars everywhere. All of the rooms are named after stars, which was so fun. The elevator is fun and Old—it's up to you to open and close the doors! (Which is where the selfishness comes in: multiple times in our one night stay, someone left the doors open behind them, and no one else could use the elevator because of it. I got very loud in my disapproval.)
Drove through a storm to get there; it was absolutely wild seeing the lightning (which I did not manage to get a picture of) as we approached.
Today is my old stomping grounds of Tempe, AZ, so I'll be back to update later!

Hello, Texas!
Story time: when i finished undergrad at ASU in 2016, Dad, Leather, and I roadtripped back to STL to bring all my stuff home. At some point, we got turned around and had to find our way back to the freeway. We're sitting at an intersection waiting to cross and we both go "is that---?" So naturally we stop in to see the genuine building featured in Cars. Leather comes in with us bc we couldn't leave him in the truck and the woman running the shop said it was okay, and we have a cute little photo op in one of the booths.
Fast forward to today, and I tell Mom we have to stop here because, obviously. And there's this photo carousel in the shop with pictures of dogs who've come in. Mind you, it's been eight years since we came through, but sure enough. There's our boy and half of Daddy. It was amazing to see—they'll live on in Shamrock for a while more.
And what's a stop in Amarillo without a visit to Cadillac Ranch? (Can you tell I've never used spray paint before?) I didn't actually write anything; I was primarily interested in covering the fucking swastikas some asshat thought to paint. Another girl covered a significantly larger hate message while I covered the symbols, because there's no room for that shit, here or anywhere. Super windy, so I was more concerned with not getting pain on Windy and keeping my skirt from flipping up, but it was overall a blast.
Tomorrow, Gallup!

Day one of the road trip complete! We stopped at an adorable r66 diner for lunch, called..... the Route 66 Diner. It was Family Day & graduation week at the nearby military base, the place had gotten slammed for lunch just an hour before we got there. We're in Tulsa for the night—okay, technically we're in Broken Arrow, which is important solely because of the Midnighters series bt Scott Westerfeld. Iykyk. I'm gonna try to get photos of Bixby signage tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for me. Had dinner at BJ's, which is hilarious bc they have a brewery in West Covina, aka (roughly) our primary destination.
Tomorrow we make our way to Amarillo, and we are aiming to hit Cadillac Ranch in the evening, so look forward do those photos!
