Ballalgad - World’s easiest 15 minute trek!
17 June 2018, 1-day Sunday TTMM trek to Ballalgad by 26 of us.
This is one of the easiest treks to climb, taking not more than 15 minutes to reach from base to the top.
A dilapidated fort and fort walls are seen. From the highway & it’s base village Kajali, one can seen a small hillock covered by greenery and some of its fortifications are visible.
EXPERIENCE:
↑ 06:50 This Dahanu local starting from Borivali is actually train to Surat. There is no indicator on the railway station or announcement of any kind informing the same. We asked other passengers to know if were we in the right train! ↑
↑ Window seat of joy ↑
↑ 09:45 We alighted from the train at Sanjan, a railway station in Gujarat. ↑
From Sanjan, we shared a 10-seater tumtum or rickshaw that wait just outside the railway station.
↑ Border crossing: Shot from Gujarat looking into Maharashtra - my great country India ↑
↑ The hillock on the left of the highway while travelling from Sanjan to Kajali is Ballalgad. ↑
↑ An 11 km ride from Sanjan takes us to the base village of Kajali ↑
↑A Baobab tree and the village municipal school announces that the base village Kajali has arrived ↓
As you go ahead on the tarred road, it forks.Take the road that is nearer the hillock of Ballagad. The road to avoid is the stem of the forked road that goes to the right inside or away from Kajali village.
↑ This second BAOBAB TREE marks the trailhead. Take the road behind this tree which is nearer to the hillock of Ballalgad and ignore the road in front of this Baobab tree. The road in the front to ignore will take you away from Ballalgad ↑
These 2 Baobab trees in Kajali may be around 1000-2000 years old! So you can pose with one of the oldest and tallest living creatures of Planet Earth!
↑ After the 2 baobab trees, this huge banyan tree will arrive. leave the road and start climbing the hillock of Ballalgad after this tree ↑
In 15 minutes you will reach the top of Ballalgad.
BALLALGAD:
↑ The highway is easily seen from the top of Ballalgad ↑
Fun time at Ballalgad:
↑ Candid clicks by my mom ↓
↑ What did he see? ↑
RETURN JOURNEY:
13:00 We reached the base village Kajali and had arranged the rickshaws for our return.
13:45 We were at Sanjan railway station waiting for 14:20 train to Virar.
17:30 We were home.
Everyone felt this was a leisure trek. An absolute beginner’s trek. But that’s fine. Our group had members right from 10 years to 70 years! And everyone did the climb in 15 minutes and descent in 20 minutes. The world’s easiest trek, indeed.
While returning we checked out this Parsi Stambh or pillar which has a time capsule containing miniature items and replicas of items belonging Parsi culture buried at its base.
(This trek was done in our usual TTMM style. Check the disclaimer TTMM to know more about this kind of trekking).

I like to think that miao miao will visit whenever you need, even if you are studying in another state, so Wei and his family has a habit of leaving small openings so miao miao can enter.
Miao Miao is not locked in the house like typical house cat and it can leave whenever it wants.
