I've been listening to the Kaleidoscope of Death audio drama and one thing that really hits me is that LQS truly doesn't understand why RNZ would want him, what RNZ even sees in him. He isn't as terribly dense about RNZ's flirting as LJS is in the drama - though when RNZ finally grabs him and kisses him, LQS is all, "You weren't joking?" - his self-esteem is just as low, though, and it's actually heartbreaking, the way he's all, "RNZ is so amazing and then... there's me."

What were your thoughts about THAT love confession in The Spirealm? I thought it was quite daring to include but sadly might have been a factor in its cancellation. Still loved it and I wished more stuff like it was included.

The one from Li Dongyuan to Ruan Nanzhou. I took it as a love confession since he mentioned that he didn't like Bai Jie anymore and he was head over heels for "her" before plus the little heart sign

OH that scene! tbh I took it a bit more jokingly 😂 (i.e. not a legit confession) especially since ldy in the show is a bit more of a comic relief character. I think there are a lot more flirty/ *confession-ey* scenes between rnz and lqs just that they don't explicitly say "I like you" (although, there is that one scene where rnz asks lqs if he's really okay with accompanying him to the twelfth door and lqs goes "��愿意" - which in english would be translated to an innocent "yes" or "I'm willing" but those three characters also happen to be the what people say in chinese when they get married i.e. "I do" and when I heard that I went fucking nuts). if they really had said something along the lines of "I like you", I think that would've been really flirting with the censors already. that being said, the "I don't like rbj anymore, I like you" from ldy with the little heart came as a really cute and funny surprise - the context with his death though (even though I knew it was coming since he also dies in the novel), not so much 🥲
