sorry if this is a odd question, but do androids exist here? i know there is technology for parts to put on to people, but have androids been created yet? and if so, would they ever be playable?
not odd at all, we were actually planning on releasing more about androids in our next world update, so i was excited to see this!! but yes, androids have existed! but given the artificial intelligence canonically hasn't had a major breakthrough ( yet ), they're currently pretty primitive "robots," not quite sentient yet. they're more for functional tasks, like for around the house / certain workplaces, very programmatic and task-oriented.
however, one of the new locations we were planning to release next is a major AI company, and with that, we were going to canonize some major progress in AI that would result in more intelligent androids being released. we wanted to test the waters with that first and let it simmer for a while, before taking another step towards the point where androids could become more sentient. i'd say unfortunately that's the earliest we would consider making them playable, but only because we don't want the development to feel like it just happens overnight in canon.
but with all of that said, if you're v set on writing one but ( understandably ) would rather not wait that long, message us so we can talk about it! i'd personally have no problem allowing an early exception given that their backstory would make sense in canon ( ie. they would probably have to be "obscure" technology, or else news of their existence would have already had major ramifications on the setting, etc ) .
my main concern is making sure you feel like you still have complete freedom to create & develop your muse and for you to feel comfortable that they & their backstory gels well within the existing world. because technically we'd be open to android muses who are still in that "primitive" stage right now if you wanted to write it, but i could see their timeline being heavily reliant on the rp's world development, and we wouldn't ever want you to feel constrained about developing some of the most important parts of your muse, if that makes sense? in that case, we'd rather talk through sort of a custom background for them so that your muse's development wouldn't feel "stuck" on the plot and you'd feel more in control of them!
#sorry for the long answer i just wanted to convey that even tho the android plotline will only just kick off soon--#--we still want you to be able to write The Muse that You Want!! and we'll happily work w/ you to make it happen!!#rmnt:answered#rmnt:faq

how long would you say it takes a starcraft to travel between ansan and astra?
as a disclaimer, this is a purely made up number haha, but i'd say about 1-2 days with current technology! longer if you're taking the scenic route, but let's say as fast as a day if you're taking an express flight?

so are you only allowing one of each vocation? are the vocations listed in the citizen tag all taken?
only some of them - on the locations page, if a listed occupation has a number ( owners, for example, are limited to 1 ) , then we're only allowing that many of that occupation. if the slot has already been taken, it will say (1/1) and be listed on the citizens page/masterlist as well. i believe both the /locations and /ml pages are up to date with occupations, but if there's anything inaccurate please let us know! to make it easier to tell, we've added (1/1) indicators on the masterlist for jobs with limited slots. we do allow duplicates of all other occupations within reason ( we're trying to avoid 10 cashiers at the same location, for example ) , so if an occupation is already listed on the masterlist but it isn't a limited spot, go for it!

are astrans able to vacation/stay short-term in ansan and vice versa? how frequent do you imagine any temporary stays could be, especially w/ the slowdown in effect?
yes, though astrans would be able to vacation back to ansan more easily than the other way! especially if they have already have an ansan residence to go back to, they wouldn't have to worry about how long they can stay ; since they're already registered citizens of astra, they're technically already "accounted for" up there, so going back would be no problem. it's only if they decided to give up their citizenship there that they would probably have difficulty getting it back / being able to go back. it's more difficult to vacation in astra if someone isn't already a registered citizen there, mainly because of the space issue. but i wouldn't put it past wealthy people to be able to do it anyway, if they have enough money / connections for a private flight to take them there. i imagine they'd be able to pay off the right people long enough to stay there for a few months, so it's not impossible! it might just get trickier the longer they stay / more often they go, since they're more likely to attract the attention of the no-nonsense government officials who are stricter about enforcing the policy for non-residents. i hope that helps, let me know if there's anything else!

hi admin, would we be able to request wanted connections in the future?
yes! we did make a page but we've decided to hold off accepting wc's until after opening, so that by then the masterlist would be up to date & everyone's blogs would be visible to anyone looking to fill them. we'll include it in the opening announcement too, but you can see the form in advance HERE!

hello! i noticed that you can bet on the fighters @ the underground. is it the same for nightrunners where there's some sort of betting system going on for racers?
definitely! the races are less "organized" than the fighting, as in yes there are popular places to race (i.e. seonjaedo), but unlike @ the underground, impromptu street races could occur just about anywhere, which was the only reason i didn't mention a specific betting system in place. so maybe there'd be no betting if it happened someplace more obscure, but i could see them happening during larger nightrunner gatherings, since i'm picturing these betting systems as more crowd-organized -- there wouldn't be one if no one cared to get one going, etc. and on that note, just like fighters, racers would probably want some kind of "representative" hanging in the crowd to take bets for them if they want to be able to benefit some percentage from those bets (as opposed to people just betting with each other the way people bet on sports these days, ykwim).

what is the process of the lottery? have people already signed up for it or is everyone automatically signed up? around when are the winners usually announced?
yes, people have to enter manually in order to have their names in the running! i'm thinking that entries are usually accepted for the first half of the year, until a deadline around june-july when the winners are announced, and then the rest of the year is typically the whole onboarding process for the winners preparing to go to astra. so technically, muses have had since the start of the year to decide whether they want to enter their name in the lottery, and it's still open now. this year the winners' announcement has been delayed, so there's a little extra anxiety about whether they'll actually have any winners, considering astra's slowdown policy & all. but as a mild spoiler, the lottery & winners' announcement itself will be a plot drop soon enough, so you'll get to see how it plays out!

are occupations limited if they don't have numbers listed on the locations?
i believe i only put those limits on more specialized roles like owners, so no, we would be open to multiples of others! since there are so many locations, we aren't worried about too much overlap right now, but obviously we'd love to see occupations spread out rather than, say, having 15 djs haha.

i'm sorry if you already said this in the rules somewhere, but do blogs need to be done when we send our apps? i'm not sure if i can finish my blog before i leave for a trip this weekend, should i just wait to send my app?
no worries, i don't believe we mentioned it! no, the blog doesn't have to be finished. we only ask you to send the account in because it's easier for us to have a working list of accounts to set up acceptances. so you can send in your app whenever you feel ready!

hello!! i was wondering what types of reasons you could see someone getting kicked out of astra and sent back to ansan? for example, i was envisioning a former holofilm actress muse who was forced to leave astra after being caught up in a scandal of some sort.
oh i absolutely love that idea!! did you have a specific film genre that she was acting in? i could think of a few possibilities:
if she would have been involved in something akin to a propaganda film? if you wanted something recent / more directly tied to a plot drop, i was thinking of making astra's 50th founding anniversary part of our first plot drop, and i'm sure a bunch of holofilms / music / general art has been in the making for it. if she was involved in something that high-profile but was then also in a scandal, the astran government could've forced her to leave to preserve their own image.
anything similar where she might have done something that negatively affected astra's image, especially if she was a big public figure. i think astra is very concerned about keeping its image.
if she just felt like she had no choice but to leave -- maybe the scandal was so wide-reaching that it sort of "shunned" her in the industry, and she wasn't able to get the same roles she used to. maybe a manager advised her to leave or she decided to herself.
on a similar vein, if she was swept up in a scandal but is trying to cover it up. or maybe someone is making her cover it up? either way, she needed to be distanced from it.
if you're looking for something more general, being caught up in any illegal activity could have put her in danger of being asked to leave.
you're happily allowed to take creative license wherever you need to, like if you need specific details / npcs to make your plot work. if you have any other questions or you'd like to work something into the world lore related to her background, just let us know!

could I have more information on how many people go to astra by the time the RP takes place? I know in the plot it says there's a lottery, is that the only way people can get there now (so only 10 a year)?
that's right, technically the lottery is the only way to become an astran citizen these days, but people with right kinds of money / connections still find their way up there. before the slowdown policy, when more flights were leaving the airstrip, there were probably some stowaways too, but now restrictions and security have gotten tighter overall, and even if someone managed to get onboard somewhere, they would have still had to escape notice once they landed on astra without a citizen papers. ( and on that note, i think that could be an interesting backstory, if someone once did actually manage to sneak up there, but then they were caught and sent back. ) so, to official public knowledge, only 10 people have been getting sent to astra every year for the last couple of years, but dozens more might have found their way up through underhanded means. if there are any other details we can clarify, just let us know.

hi lovely admins!! i just want to make sure i read the rules right, are we allowed to apply for our second muse right away? does this count during this period too?
hiya! yes, you can apply for your 2nd muse at any point, so you're welcome to apply for both now if you want!

is it possible for muses that have already been to astra but came back or do you only allow muses that have never been there?
absolutely, go for it! i did my best to add as much workable info to astra's description as possible, but if there's anything specific you have questions about, feel free to ask / dm any time. i'm also fine with you headcanoning specific details about day-to-day life there if you need to! since it's about the size of a small nation, i think there's a lot of room for variety in terms of experience. i would just add that if your muse willingly left recently (as in gave up their citizenship), they would have had to be aware that there was no guarantee they would be allowed to go back if they changed their minds.
