Rix’s Return

“Can’t believe it took so long bud, can you?” Rix asked, wiping some of the sweat from his forehead as he put up his sword. The dragon lightly huffing while playfully swatting at his rider. “Hey don’t give me that look! It’s not like iiiiii started this war, I just finished it.”

The dragon rolled his eyes, grumbling as he turned away from his rider. Rix shook his head at his dragon’s childish, sighing. “Yea, I know, I miss him too bud… Wanna go ba- Toothless! Fucking hell lemme actually get on the saddle before you take off!!”

Rix could feel the warmth of the sun as he moved the branch, smirking back at his traveling companion. And for once, it wasn’t Toothless. But the dragon was indeed following them.

“I thought you would enjoy the quietness.” Rix said, knowing sometimes he appreciated not always having to be around the Vikings he call home. Where he doesn’t have to listen to the yelling, the loud voices, the commands of the other dragons.

And it also made things better that Dongmyeong was with him. Someone who’s been there as Rix has been… not as much as he wanted to be. He wanted to give Dongmyeong a perfect life, he wanted to give him all the treasures possible.

“Thank you, for coming out here with me.” Rix said, taking out his sword from his waist and the sharpness of the blade easily cut through the brush in front of them. The chief was making sure that Dongmyeong had the clearest route as possible.

Putting up the sword, Rix turned to glance at Dongmyeong with a small smile. Hand reaching out for his.

the refreshing waters of a lake, away from prying eyes.

Wind rushed in his ears, his body leaning to the left a bit and adjusting his balance as Toothless turned his body sideways. Wings stretched out and the pair flying between the rock walls. The tip of Toothless’ wing broke the surface of the water, Rix feeling the warmth of the day.

A familiar growl of a coo caught his attention, looking where Toothless was and saw the familiar figure. Rix smiled, letting go of the saddle and the wind immediately catching him. His body turning, diving into the water and feeling the water rushing around him. Kicking his feet and breaking the surface, Toothless already haven perched on a large ledge after Rix jumped.

He swam to the bank, closed to Dongmyeong and smiled at him. “And here I thought maybe you would’ve gotten lost~ Good job princess.”

From a chief to a destroyer.

Flames crackled, boots walking along the ashen village. Blood dripped from the blade of the axe, hand wiping at his cheek. A smile spreading across his cheeks, eyes watching the hauntingly beautiful orange glowing in the night.

A roar echoed out, Toothless standing on the broken statue on the chief. Wings spread out, blood and saliva dripping from his sharp fangs; claws ripping the stone under him.

Those who were alive were hiding, terrified of the due that destroyed their home in the twilight hours. But… Those could not stay hidden from a dragon forever, it was cruel the way that Rix played with them. Gave them hope that they had picked a good hiding spot before he was pointing his bloody axe to their hiding spot.

Claws ripping apart the obstacles and hearing the screams as he continued walking along the broken village. Rix didn’t steal supplies, he didn’t raid treasures, he just killed everyone and left when there was no life left.

Rix would’ve been oblivious if he didn’t know that Dongmyeong liked dragons, so why not surprised him? The chief to be was mischievous about it. Rix adjusted his armor before feeling the muscles of the dragon under his touch. “Let’s go visit our new friend, yea bud?”

The night fury cooed under him, trilling in excitement and taking off in the air. Toothless looked around, eyes watching the terrain for the familiar person. “Bingo, grab him.”

He tucked his wings, diving down. The whistling sound of the wind surrounded him, claws opening as Toothless suddenly grabbed Dongmyeong. Wings opening sharply, sailing over the ground before taking up into clouds and fog. Rix could hear Dongmyeong screaming, chuckling and patting Toothless’ neck. “Toss up.”

Toothless threw Dongmyeong up in the air, Rix leaning back to catch Dongmyeong. Arms holding onto Dongmyeong, laughing as he covered Dongmyeong’s mouth. “Oh stop screaming, you loved it.”

Free hand grabbing on the saddle, leaning to the side and the night fury flying through the opening between mountains. “You’re not gonna die, just look at the sights.”

He spoke while lowering his hand from Dongmyeong’s mouth, keeping a hand on him to keep him from falling. The wind cool, fresh from the rainstorm just last night. Toothless’ wings spread out, wind catching under.

Rix looked over, chuckling at hearing the excitement from Dongmyeong. “Festivals are always fun, I even dressed up Toothless for this festival. Though, no one else gets to see him. I’m trying not to spill blood today.”

It seemed like forever since Rix was able to see Dongmyeong. The chief had easily grown irritated without Dongmyeong by his side. Dongmyeong had become his anchor, the reason he had always been so calm. And now the rest of the village was beginning to see Rix without Dongmyeong calming him down…

So when he saw someone he cared for so much trapped on a hunter ship. Rix could have swore that he had seen red… The last thing he had heard was Toothless’ angered roar.

“Rix…?” He knew that soft voice… Slowly gaining consciousness, feeling the hand on his arm. A soft touch, almost nervous. So he knew that it wasn’t a hunter, glancing back to see Dongmyeong standing there. “Myeong… you’re okay…?”

“Yea… you…” Rix glanced around the ship, blood soaking into the wood. Separated limbs and dead bodies scattered around the deck, Toothless standing near the head of the ship. “I saw you were here, are you hurt? Did they hurt you?”

“No, I’m okay.” Okay… Rix knew that. He wouldn’t let anything happen to Dongmyeong. Not someone so precious to him… He rather fight the gods than let Dongmyeong get hurt.
