YESSS SO TRUE, I actually just saw this twitter post a couple hours ago that casually mentions Levi's limited facial expressions in the anime compared to the manga:

He is of course the cool-calm-collected character but his expressions in the manga just make him more... human? That some of those emotions he tries to bottle up up still manages to escape because he canonically feels things that deeply. Then again, maybe it's another animation limitation/manga illustration advantage (ie. in Fruits Basket, none of the characters' expressions compared to the manga)....

Speaking of his patience and expressions towards Mikasa... I thought of this panel too. This is when he turns and sees Mikasa about to stand up to him for the serum/for Armin. In the anime (which they cut to an entirely different scene w the Cart/Zeke, THEN switch back to Levi's expression at Mikasa, which takes away the impact that he is reacting to Mikasa!!! GRR) he looks more angry? Tired? Inconvenienced? Whereas in the manga he looks freaking emotionally WRECKED by Mikasa's hurt expression -- it's that wide-eyed, panicked, "please don't cry" look (at least that's how I interpret it) that we've never really seen from Levi

Pls help me if you can. There's this chapter of the manga I recall where Levi is walking around with Sasha and Mikasa and these creepy old dudes are saying that Levi is acting high and mighty with "women in tow" or something like that. One of the guys even leans towards Sasha while Levi is looking at Mikasa. I think it's supposed to parallel Sasha stitching up shirtless Levi's wounds but he's looking at Mikasa instead. But I have a feeling I just made up the first chapter I described because I don't know the chapter number.😭

Fret not, fandom friend!! That’s actually funny because I literally just reread these chapters yesterday randomly! (I was just looking for the Levi/Dimo Reeves conversations, which I love and will forever be sad about WIT omitting it from the manga)

Anyway, the first moment you mention is in Chapter 57 right before “Eren and Historia” (Jean and Armin) are kidnapped.

I’ll include the full page/panels here because WIT also leaves out a fantastic detail of Levi being fixated on a poor mother and her child — reminding him likely of his own mother who suffered in the Underground, also reminding him that all people of Trost could suffer and go to ruin if they fail. This becomes a central push point for how he convinces Dimo Reeves to team with the Scouts willfully — to save Trost, Dimo’s town.

The anime really rushed through all of that, skipping these details made it a little confusing why the Reeves company complied w the Scouts so easily… such a shame!

Lastly, the second moment you mention is in Chapter 59! This is after Squad Levi kills people for the first time; Armin is having a hard time coping with having killed someone. Mikasa comes back in to switch watch-guard shifts with someone. It almost feels like Levi wants her attention while he’s shirtless 🤣 Another freakin panel WIT robbed us of!!!

I don’t think these are meant to parallel each other but it is fun to see both these panels honestly kind of emphasize Mikasa (and Sasha) being women (and the only women) around Levi. I’m now curious if the Sash/Levi ship exists (I can’t imagine 🤣 He’d be so annoyed w her) but to me? I’m biased and think it emphasizes Mikasa is the best and closest woman to him 😭 As a comrade and a human

This is not a deepdive analysis per se, rather just my observation to add fuel to my Rivamika brainrot.

Anyway...

Does Mikasa look like she is actually smiling while looking at Levi rescuing that kid from being publicly persecuted?

Yams could've drawn a frown on her face like Eren, or worried like Armin and Hange. Understandably, everyone else looked worried since they were garnering unwanted attention.

But I think it's interesting to note that Mikasa is possibly happy, or even impressed, by Levi's actions. I think this panel is significant because we can't forget how distraught she was over Eren and how he killed innocent people in Liberio, including children. Which goes to show how much she values human life, even if it's their so-called enemy.

And apparently, both Ackermans have a soft spot for children.

One of the amazing people in my groups noted that Mikasa may have started to develop feelings for Levi on chapter 123 (that same chapter that Levi rescued the kid) without realizing it (or maybe she has?) because it was also here when she started seeing Eren differently than the boy she grew up with.

And with Mikasa's ideal AU in chapter 138, she is seen to be with Eren, but it doesn't go unnoticed that he somehow looks A LOT LIKE LEVI. In the same dream, they're even drinking TEA. I wasn't the first one to notice, but I *tried to* painstakingly review previous chapters and the only time I ever saw either Mikasa or Eren drinking tea is when LEVI is around.

Additionally, before Mikasa's fantasy AU occurred, Levi can be seen saying/shouting something to her. We don't know what it is (yet), but I wonder if it was Levi who told her to forget about Eren and maybe wake her from her stupor and maybe fckng finally confess his feelings for her.

So yeah, I just wanted to share these tidbits. I can't do deepdive analysis like most amazing RM shippers do (because of excuses) but these panels have been on my mind for some time now and I wanted to unload it. More importantly because...

I literally read a one shot just this morning where Levi is a lead singer of a band playing at the bar and he recruited new band menders (aka the Levi squad except for Mikasa) caz his old band members ( aka the old Levi squad ) died. And the band sang "call your name" while Mikasa was in the audience. I was really confused at how similar the lyrics were to "their" canon situation or just situation itself. I was bout to search out the lyrics to see if theres an actual song or not. And I just got my answer through this post😭 And this analysis is literally mirroring my thoughts about this song being about rivamaki (in more organized way ofcorse) Also the rivamika interaction in fic was hella cute and fun too���🫶🏼

Why "call your name" is about rivamika - from Levi's pov.

Okay so the first paragraph goes

So apperently if your a delusional rivamika anti like me you'd go under rivamika posts and comments " oMG leVi iS liKe MikAsA's olDeR bRotHer 🥰" but I have to be honest and say that this is pure bullshit 🙄 or whateveRr. Anyway if you're smart like Ackermanshoe and other rivamika shippers ( 🤢 ) then you probably consider Eren as mikasa's brother because of the way she looks after him, and them essentially being a family after mikasa's actual parents died. So in my unbiased theory I'd have to agree that this song is from Levi's point of view, after the war has ended.

( Oh and thank you @thegloomybrat for telling me about this song it's painful :D I love it ! )

Of course from Levi's point of view Eren would be mikasa's brother or something alike because of their dynamic, like I said before Levi is the reality that Mikasa strays away from and he brings her back.

Here Levi digs deep into the past, recalling all his memories not only Mikasa killing Eren but also the war in general. "When she brings me coffee" OKAY IMMA BE HONEST HERE, even if I am a rivamika anti I have to say this is a freaking dead giveaway like (????!!!) Coffee is basically tea but for people who has no will to live and the one person who drinks tea more than anyone else in the series??? Yeah that's fucking right, it's Levi. Since unlike the entire fandom, I'm a SMART anti I can see this fact with my eyes closed. Hence in the first few lines Levi refers to Mikasa loosing Eren ( a month ago ), then he remembers the past when Mikasa brings coffee ( tea ) to him.

" I wish I could be with her till my last day" ( I'm crying 😭 )

Okay so in this Levi's point of view is clear as fuck, he loves Mikasa and wants to spend the rest of his life by her side. Note: this is the past Levi saying he wished he could stay with her until the end.

"she said she gave all her love to me, we dreamt a new life, some place to be at peace" Levi is probably implying that Mikasa cares about him now. Idk how, after reading this verse ANYONE could even think this is about anyone else but Levi and Mikasa. After all Levi's teashop dream and mikasa's desire to have a family all lead to a peaceful quiet life doesn't it? Mikasa returning to a ordinary girl is also her having a peaceful life. " She said She gave all her love to me' idk about y'all but this gives me hints of some promises, it's such a rivamika thing to do in my opinion.

"I lost my dreams in this disaster"

They BOTH dreams of the same peaceful life, but they both had to let go of what they WANT in order to survive, the disaster that got in the middle is the rumbling.

Now for the chorus

"I'm crying missing my lover.."

Okay so idk if I talked about this enough before so I'll quickly touch on the fact that Levi "doesn't know " why Mikasa is SO attached to Eren is because he is jealous. 😒😒 Yeah okay y'all may have won this but even in my anti rivamika Goggles I can see his surpassed jealousy. THINK about it ? Levi is always on the frame when Mikasa is concerned for Eren and he always somehow breaks their convos it's a low-key thing Levi does but the tension is there. It's like when a newborn child is born and the mother gives all her time to the child because it's her child and the father often gets jealous because of it. No matter how you think about it Levi never had someone care for him in such way, even if it ain't romantic, it's jealosuy in some way or another. From his dead mother to uncle Kenny who left him, to countless deaths of his friends and comrades he had to bare it alone and carry it on his shoulder for so long. He is the definition of being lonely at the top, because of his strength. But not with Mikasa, the care she shows for Eren is unlike any other characters care in the series, in my unbiased opinion ( for the 50th time) Levi wants to be treated the same way. And he knows that Eren doesn't appreciate mikasa nearly enough. And no one better then Levi knowns what it's like to miss love from your life.

And so I have to say that he is missing her although he has been living with Mikasa ( and others ) for so long. Let's not forget that Levi is the most emotional character in the anime so obviously if from his POV he said he was crying missing his lover - being loved by Mikasa and added "I don't have the power on my side forever" he knows his weakness and it makes complete sense lmao. Alluding to "humanity's strongest" everyone thinks you're always strong but the fact Levi is actually emotional which is why he doesn't have the "power on his side forever".

"Oh where is my lover" again I have been saying this man is the most patient thing when it comes to mikasa and this is what I mean.

"I'm standing alone (....) Calling out you're name" so this is me referring to my previous post where I mentioned the unnatural amount of time Levi called mikasa's name through out the whole manga. It's sad but Levi has always been alone hasn't he? Even when he had Erwin and hanji and his old squad he was always a lone man due to his powers, I could see the barrier that his power puts between him and everyone else ( apart from Mikasa ofc). But it's strange because y'all remember Mike ? He was thought to be only 2nd best to Levi and yet he was still not nearly there. Interesting.

This could be a example of what I mean I say he is a lone man. After all his future wife and soulmate is literally busy babying another man right Infront of him ( no wonder he looks pissed of all the time lmao 💀 ).

Finally "calling out your name"

"MIKASA? MIKASA!! MIKASA.."

That was 90% of Levi's lines in the recent chapters lmao. I interpret this as Levi knowing this is the conclusion to Eren and mikasa's story and he knows he is the one who can get Mikasa back to reality. He finally called out her name, it's not even a freaking joke, he was literally calling her name and saying her name to himself ughh. Anyway like I said it's like he has accepted a part of him that he kept hidden for a while and now something new has awakened.

IN CONCLUSION, rivamika shippers kinda won this battle 🙄💔 and but tbh as an anti I have to admit that everybody is so wrong if they think this song is about anyone else but Levi and Mikasa 🤡🤡. It's clearly from perspective of Levi from the future who is remembering the past and his feelings for mikasa during it.

I love these two panels. I find them very interesting because, normally, when Levi approaches Mikasa to speak or give orders he always look at her directly. I thinks it's because he is "mentally prepared" to do that, like, he knows what he's going to tell her and how, but here, when Mikasa looks at him directly and catches him off guard, he opts to avoid her gaze...  (my headcanon here: Levi gets too nervous when Mikasa looks at him like that, so he prefers to avoid her gaze to not say or do sth stupid, like kiss her all of a sudden or hug her and tell everything is gonna be ok XD)

Sometimes, Levi avoiding Mikasa's gaze is shown in a very subtle way, like this panel here. We know they are arguing, but Levi prefers not to look at Mikasa when does it. (Just look Levi’s head angle when he is talking.. it looks like he’s talking with Hange)

He also did this here when he tells Mikasa something that might hurt her, like here, when he interrupts her all of a sudden to tell something she was afraid of. (Our man always worried about not hurting Mikasa’s feelings)

I’d dare to include this panel here too. I wasn’t sure at first, but then I zoom the panel and saw the way his eye is drawn (the pupil to be more accurate)  and I concluded he’s looking down even though it seems otherwise

The next panel is Mikasa’s reaction and we can also see that in the next page he continues speaking, but, again, not looking at her, even when she was the only one refusing (it’s almost like he is feeling guilty of having told her about what they needed to do with Eren and hurt her...And look at that angle, it’s like he’s talking directly at her but without daring to face her.)

(”I know I’m hurting so bad honey, but you need to understand. Forgive me please”)

Is this then another proof for:

“His battle skills are impeccable, but when it comes to love/romance, he is incredibly clumsy.“ ?

[Rivamika mini analysis]

I've been watching (again) the Shiganshina arc and the fact that Mikasa has prioritized Reiner over Eren and Armin shows how much her character has evolved, but I'm sure SOMEONE helped make this happen.

Mikasa from the beginning was shown as an impulsive person who did not mind having to sacrifice even her own life as long as Eren was safe.

Mikasa was surrounded by partners from the beginning even though she did not completely trust them. She followed her instincts if it came to saving Eren, no matter the cost.

But hey, hey. ¿Who do we have here?

Levi noticed early on that Mikasa was a very impulsive person, but he never doubted her abilities as a soldier. He had just lost his entire squad and despite that he entrusted him with a task that he could not do with anyone else.

The fandom overlooks this moment, but Mikasa was the first person she trusted after losing her squad and Levi was the first person Mikasa trusted to rescue Eren...

From then on, Levi always tries to make Mikasa come to her senses when she wants to take a chance for Eren. He was one of the few people who helped her to control herself and, above all, to trust not only him but also all of her friends.

Why I truly love aot and its themes/ bits of Rivamika

I'll be elaborating on some very deep topics like xenophobia, racism and politics. Please be cautious if this triggers you.

I decided to write out my thoughts after facing harassment yet again today for my ethnicity while I was walking on the street. I'm East Asian, and I've always had to deal with unfortunate events like this, but since the 2020 pandemic and all the politics surrounding China, things have become even worse. It was since then that I found an even deeper comfort through reading the aot manga. It depicts the ugliness from mankind beautifully, as contrasting as that may sound.

Politics and Extremism

I personally really despise discussing too long about politics with my friends and family. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong staying updated with what is happening in the world. However, it can truly divide people from one another. When this is taken to the extreme, innocent people from said countries and nations are put under the same box as the government. It's a game of the powerful deciding on big plans, and who suffers the most? The average citizen. Eren's mom getting eaten is a good example of that.

I've heard and seen plenty of times, people saying Asians deserve the racism and assault solely because of what our governments did. What has the average citizen to do with any of this? Just because we are born Asian? Just because they are Eldians, they have to attone for their sins which they did not commit?

It's dangerous to take things to the extreme. They are wrong, we are right. It places real human beings in boxes. Maybe that's why I find Gabi so interesting, because her character is the perfect embodiment of this said mindset which unfortunately, a lot of people carry.

It's the powerful who put us against each other. Most of us regular folks have done nothing wrong. Just like how most of the Eldians and Marleyans are free of any sins.

Rivamika, being a minority and why they're so freaking inspirational

Partly why I feel so attached to these two characters, is because I feel like many of us, including myself, relate to their struggles. Being a minority in a foreign land, having to work ten times as hard to prove yourself, is something many minority groups face in the real world. Levi being small, and looked down on over and over again, yet every single time, he proves himself to be strong both mentally and physically. Mikasa and her mom nearly being sold to work in the underground sex industry because their race was appealing. Asian women in real life have been subjected to sexualization for the longest time. Yes, the Eldians in the walls have hard lives too, but Mikasa and Levi face additional danger and prejudices in a place they call home. Being judged in real life for my ethnicity, my height, my culture. Seeing these two thrive together (adding on, they're the last ones who are still alive up until now) in those chapters and on the big screen gives me hope and inspiration that it's possible to endure and to work hard in life despite all these setbacks I face.

Having a community or even one person who understands this, can truly be the difference of feeling alienated or feeling like you belong. As these two understand each other's struggle more than anyone else, I hope they find their place together.

I knew it, it was rare to see him crossing his leg in a wheelchair and it's true, on the boat he could barely support himself and they still hadn't chewed on his leg. Also all the way to Marley he was sitting or lying down, even on the roads he sat while talking to Eren. If he managed to move it was because of his maneuvering team, after his leg, Falco was the one who brought him from here to there, I also doubt that he had a good fall after Falco lost his titan power .

Now I am happy, because he is not disabled, but I suppose that his leg and spine must tire him to walk, that is why he prefers the chair to go to places where he cannot have support or because he must walk a lot.

So let's draw the captain with his new life as an ambassador of peace and maybe there is still the possibility of Ackerbabies.

Anyway, he goes home and there is Mikasa.

What really happened at the end?

A meta-analysis that would focus on what happened to Levi after they have won the battle.

I want to give credits to: @riva-koucha ‘s analysis. What I’ll be discussing here is to support her earlier analysis.

Why is Levi with Onyankopon?

I will start with this one. Many of the SNK fandom had started to think that Gabi and Falco have been the two who are taking care of Levi.

Might be right, but mostly, the possibility is very high in being wrong. Why is that?

Gabi and Falco have both still have their parents. Let’s be realistic here. It’s sweet that Levi have kids to take care of him... but I want to be realistic. We all know the love that Falbi have over their parents and it would be odd to think that they would just adopt some Ackerman. I’m not going to explain deeper, but in a literal sense, Gabi and Falco are not with Levi. They only visited him and hence would accompany both Onk and Levi... to Paradis.

Next. Why Onyankopon then?

I reread SNK Chapter 132-139 again. Yes, unfortunately, and it hurt so bad that I can no longer feel anything at all.

Onyankopon’s trust and respect towards Hange had blossom a great impact on him. The lines he had said above, only proved his willingness to do anything as a consequence of what the anti-marleyan did.

And I think that would only strengthen the panel why is he with Levi. Because Levi was Hange’s best friend. Something that Onyankopon wanted to repay Hange’s sacrifice. And it is very natural to take care/assist of the person who had done a great service in stopping the war.

Where is Levi and Onyankopon? And why are they there?

I would like to assume that they are in London. Looking by the panel above, we could see the big ben there as well as Onyankopon’s race.

London is very known for good tea. Our best boi Levi deserves a good ass tea for all that happened. I can’t say that they both lived there, but I would like to think that they were out there for a vacation or a tour before Levi truly goes home (will be discussed later)

Next. The alliance.

I think many people already assumed that the Alliance have been going on and off Paradis and other nations. But let’s read again the lines below:

The time skip had only been three years.

There are many factors that would prove that the Alliance have never returned to Paradis during that three years time skip. (I won’t discuss how Mikasa went back maybe she swim or whatever. I don’t want to talk about her)

Because the rumbling destroyed 80% of everything. How could they go back? Transportation resources have been destroyed and it would take not just a year to rebuild anything that would take them back to Paradis.

And it was expected for them to receive hate. Likewise the quote, do not add more fire when it’s burning.

And lastly, this is the very obvious proof.

Their families were taken by Historia. If they were just going round and round the world, the dialogue above is unnecessary to say.

So... going back to Levi.

Same for Levi, he haven’t yet returned to Paradis. And this time, he will return back to his HOME after three years. And how is that?

Look at the plane’s direction and look at the direction where they are going.

If we are going to use real life directions... and they are in Big Ben. Well then the direction they were heading to only indicated an airport.

More proof? I think the wheelchair would explain it too. Levi is not amputated but the fact that he limps when he would be walking, only shows that he needs to be using a wheelchair whenever traveling long distance trip.

And lastly, this.

I needed to fucking search shits about the bag Onyankopon hold, and it’s very uncanny to think why only hold one.

Take note that Onyankopon and Falbi lives outside Paradis. And it’s only Levi who lives at Paradis... safe to say that the travel bag is for him.

So yeah... Levi’s going back home.

“...have appeared on Paradis... to advocate for peace.”

I want to use riva-koucha’s analysis that the word used there is not just ‘appeared’ but ‘RETURNED’

And I’m not the only one who could see why Levi shows no smile at his last panel (whereas everyone else was smiling) it’s because I assumed that he has unfinished business with someone who just disappeared after he had told her to STAY WITH HIM. You know who I’m talking about.

That’s all. It might also be my last meta-analysis, (who knows) or maybe another when someone could caught my eye. I do not want to discuss about Mikasa, I have nothing to say about her. That’s how disappointed I am.

Unmentioned Rivamika moment(s): Vol 13 (Ch54)

First off, Levi is negotiating with Dimo Reeves — instead of resorting to violence (because duh, Levi and Mikasa absolutely COULD), Levi decides to bring Dimo to the top of the wall overlooking Trost. He chose the approach of reminding Dimo that the suffering people of Trost rely on him/Reeves Company.

Again, instead of dominating over Dimo, the Captain of the Survey Corps, Levi — the strongest of humanity — sits with him. Makes himself equal to remind Dimo that they are both humans of the walls who need to support each other.

Mind you, Mikasa at this point is Levi’s right hand person and soldier. I’m verrry convinced that, as she is standing and watching Levi’s approach to helping Dimo Reeves make the right (or in his opinion, better) choice, she is both fascinated and inspired by him. Mikasa is the second strongest of humanity who looks up to Levi, the strongest, and she sees this display of him using his humanity — not his strength for once — to inspire people to the truth. Look at the final panel ^ that shows her as the focus looking at Levi as he sits down level with Dimo!!!

AND THEN! This threw me in a whiplash! As they’re talking, Dimo brings attention to the fact that Mikasa Ackerman was the one who SINGLE HANDEDLY took them out in the past. You can’t tell me Levi heard that and didn’t have a reaction; a moment of being impressed by Mikasa. You can’t tell me that BECAUSE HE DID HAVE A DAMN REACTION! Iono if Dimo means to bring Levi’s attention to Mikasa, but that’s exactly what he did. Levi seems to look back at her (maybe?) after this.

Morning everyone

Regarding yesterday's speculation of Jean possibly being mikasa's "man" that she will find love in, I have something to say.

You see Mikasa is only 23 after this 3 year time gap everyone is saying Eren taught her how to live and stuff which blegh. Sorry being in your early 20s barely mean anything when you assume that she has never seen anyone else but one man in her entire life as a romantic partner. It's not the fact that she has not move on it's the fact that she has to move on because in the end of it all, it's only natural. And after 10 years of loving someone why is everyone so fixated on her marrying a guy she would not love? Jean is clearly that person, so when someone says Mikasa deserves better and should end up with Jean do you guys not see her side or what? And mostly it's unfair to Jean as well. Jean who I don't remember simping over Mikasa ever since S4 started, why do you except him to hold on to his unrequited feelings after so long? Especially after pieck is there and in 138 when she was leaving Jean was in the foreground of piecks vision, clearly signifying his importance.

Now your asking why is Levi a better option for Mikasa than Jean? Well aside from the fact that Levi is the only one who has ever helped Mikasa with her development, and the only person she has ever voiced her OWN opinion towards is Levi. Regardless I find it weird how Levi was not shown smiling in the end, you know what that means to me? It's means he is awaiting an answer, he still has a goal that's yet to me met. Furthermore Levi and Mikasa has a journey to look forward to, a similar point they can meet at and relate and talk about, their clan. And I still believe in mikasa's dream where Aron yougurt basically had Levi's face, it was simply a hint towards mikasa's future. And going on off of the theory that Mikasa had already started replacing Eren with Levi in her subconscious and ignoring 139, I can be at least 99% sure that if she is destined to find the meaning of true love it would in Levi's arms.

So yeah let ppl believe what they want, they still think Eren and Mikasa had "true love" so you know how their brains work. But I want everyone in this fandom to never let go off rivamikas potential and possibility for them in the future. I have said it countless time and I'll say it again, they are handmade for each other.

I already ship Rivamika for many years and yet I'm still here, loving the pair.

The relationship between Mikasa and Levi is decent which moves into healthier development especially character development. For example, Levi in the Databook is the worst in teamwork, but when he's paired up with Mikasa in the Uprising Arc, they made good chemistry and team. Meanwhile, Mikasa is a very stubborn girl and she clearly is a person who was difficult to handle. When she bonded with Levi, Mikasa did obey him mostly without hesitation. Also, Levi taught her to control her emotions as Mikasa would be so reckless when it comes to Eren.

I ship Rivamika in the first place because of the mutual respect and trust, similarities and parallels between the two of them and they do care for each other. Levi respect her and Mikasa respect Levi too. In the last arc, Mikasa was shown to be more respectful toward Levi and HECK YES THE ACKERTEAM! They also become obvious to care with each other.

From all of the analysis, there's come the possibility of them being a romantic pair when Mikasa was older, they might be with each other (Lol this is only my shipping goggles and headcanons) Put this aside and let them in my imagination haha.

I ship Rivamika at first because I could see the romantic things between them. No. NO IT'S NOT. It's because of the things that I've already said above. They have a lot of chemistry between each other than with other pairings. Not to bitch about other ships but this is MY OPINIONS and I don't have the intention to shit on other ships. Like I always said in every posts;

"Chemistry between characters doesn't mean it has to be romance blossoming between them. BUT, chemistry could be meant mutual trust and respect, similarities, care for each other, emotional connection, etc."

Good chemistry also means when the person doesn't feel unsafe or uncomfortable to talk about something in their mind. In the Uprising Arc, Levi and Mikasa revealed their pasts and moments of them awakens their Ackerpower. Both of them listened to each other and you could see Levi was really concerned with Mikasa. Mikasa didn't hesistated to talk about her pasts to Levi. It's good to see Mikasa opened up to someone other than Eren and Armin. That's already her character growth.

Mikasa hates Levi!!! Then why she talked about her pasts to her enemy? Why did she even bother to listen to Levi if she hates him?

At last, I'm just not into a pair without any interesting relationship or even with 0 chemistry. It's just kinda boring tho hahaha. I'm more into spicy things mwheheheeh. I ship Rivamika because of the chemistry, mutual respect and trust, care to each other, etc, of them in CANON NOT BECAUSE I SHIP THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE BECAUSE I COULD SEE ROMANTIC THINGS BLOSSOM BETWEEN THEM. Did I ship Rivamika romantically? Yes, I do and all of the cheesy romantic things that I've created between them are just FANON and put them aside in my imagination haha. Fanfictions are there so don't bother with canon things hahaha. Why stressed about Canon when you have goddamn beautiful fanfics JUST FOR FREE?

Yes yes yes same!! Tbh I think their age gap (when Mikasa is a grown adult) adds and emphasizes so much more about their dynamic and how much they relate and connect and understand each other despite the gap.

As a huge Fruits Basket fan (that’s where onigiri-dorkk comes from!!) I honestly hated the Kyoko x Katsuya ship with Kyoko being a literal 14 year old and Katsuya being a 22 year old or something. Kyoko was an immature and broken/vulnerable middle schooler; Katsuya was a student teacher. AND Katsuya made moves and flirted on Kyoko while she was in grade school. Big yikes. Their ages were vital to their roles. This is the kind of age gap where I understand people’s anger towards a ship, because I hate it too.

Levi and Mikasa are VASTLY different. At 15, Eren, Mikasa, Armin and the rest of the 104th Scouts pretty much let go of their childhood/teenage years by becoming literal soldiers. They’ve killed people, they’ve seen their comrades die in brutal ways, and they’ve been close to death altogether. Isayama never really chose to explore them as ~teens~ and instead chose to humanize them in emotional and dire ways — because of that, it’s almost like Isayama didn’t intend for their teen ages to actually be significant to the story. To be quite honest I’ve always mentally seen them as much older than they are because holy crap they’ve been forced to grow up quicker.

Levi has always seemed like a Kuya, a big brother, to the scouts rather than a father figure — obviously his youthfulness in his looks is a big factor for us readers to mentally aging him down/making us feel and believe that he actually relates more and is closer to Eren and gang’s age, but also him being as much a main character as Eren, Mikasa and Armin (literally more of a popular character than Armin lol, poor Armin) subconsciously forces us to put Levi on the same level (for me, age) as the rest of the gang. This is why as their Captain he’s always seemed like a big brother to the gang — twice in my life I’ve grown to love guys who were like an older brother to me; they were people I respected and who also respected me, and that bond from being so close was what became the catalyst to something blossoming.

That aside, it’s obvious we have to accept the actual canon fact that there is an age gap. My reasons above are mainly to emphasize that it’s not crazy of us to put Mikasa and Levi in the same ship and level, because Isayama has given us so many reasons to put them on the same level.

If we’re gonna be real about the age gap tho, Mikasa being 21 and Levi being ~33-35 really isn’t that bad. AGAIN, these humans have shared so much of the same life experiences TOGETHER. If people’s problems w age gaps are with the difference of maturity or life experiences, then adult Levi and Mikasa are far from problematic. And then if we’re gonna be EXTRA real about the age gap, which mid-30’s man (who’s likely looking to settle in life after war after all his losses and sacrifice) wouldn’t fall in love with a beautiful early-20’s gal who he relates to, who has been with him through thick and thin, who has saved his life countless, who understands him, who is the only stronger human than him in their world??? People say it makes Levi creepy or ruins his character if he fell for Mikasa but literally?? I’d fall in love w her too, dayum 😂 On the other side, adult Mikasa who is trying to learn how to live a normal life after the war without her first love would absolutely realistically want to stay connected with the few friends who survived the war with her and invest new love in them. And of that small handful of friends, who does she connect with most? Who does she relate to most? Who understands her the most? Isn’t afraid of her strength? Who doesn’t dehumanize her? L E V I!!! Hellooooo Mikasa would never settle for a random commoner who hasn’t shared the LITERAL most important and intense phase of her life. A commoner would be HELLA afraid of her strength; even Jean and Connie are constantly intimidated by her.

ANYWAY all that to say, screw everyone who makes a big deal about the age gap. Levi and Mikasa make each other better and know best how to take care of each other because they understand each other in ways others are literally incapable of understanding — an age gap does not and will not and cannot take away from that kind of a dynamic. Long live Rivamika 😭💕

LOL I got all the feelings tonight

LOL and the fact that they really do say it like we care what they think of our ship.

Well anyways i love how Levi is older than Mikasa. It kinda make this ship look like one of these medieval couple from the old classic books? i don’t know, it just gives me these kind of vibes.

But i have to also admit that I only ship season 4 Rivamika where Mikasa is 20 years old. I think she is pretty old enough and matured to be shipped with him. In this case I don’t see any problem with their age difference because Mikasa is an adult just like Levi.

I’m SCREAMING I just noticed another parallel between the lovers, Levi and Mikasa. I think the “I’m with you” and “Stay with me” beautiful parallel has always outshined these chapters, but I reread and it was fun seeing yet another similarity.

During their first battle, Levi essentially tells Mikasa, “You help/draw attention. I’ll kill the enemy.”

Then we get to the final battle of 138/139. This time, the tables are flipped and Mikasa is the one telling Levi, “You help/draw attention. I’ll kill the enemy.”

I could write pages about Levi’s eyes GLOWING here after taking a command from Mikasa (he likes it 😏) but I’ll leave it as just this. I love that the more I reread + rewatch AoT I find more reasons to love their dynamic and their moments. The mirrors are so intentionally written.

I love how often, in the freakin HEAVIEST of situations, Levi and Mikasa are constantly counting on each other — and not from afar! They’re each other’s right hand person. Levi is Mikasa’s partner in crime, and she is his. And they’ll assist each other in everything. I LOVE THEM

Also I’m v convinced this was exactly what Levi thought taking a command from Mikasa
