Important Players And Plans Team Key Players Role Strategy India Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal Batting Possibly moving Kohli to No. 3, strengthening the batting Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal Bowling Focusing on spin bowling Afghanistan Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman Spin Bowling Utilizing spin to challenge India's top order India wants Virat Kohli to have a better event because he has only scored five runs in three games. If Yashasvi Jaiswal is added, it could change how the batters play, which could mean that Kohli moves to the No. 3 spot. The pitches in the Caribbean might be better for spinners, which means that Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal could play essential parts. Conversely, Afghanistan has a strong group of spin bowlers led by Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rahman, who could make it hard for India's top-order batters. Meetings And Records From The Past In eight T20Is, India and Afghanistan have played each other. India has a strong record, winning seven of the eight games. Krishnamachari Srikkanth Expresses Concern for Rishabh Pant's Fitness for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
Tumblr media
India and Australia are very excited to perform in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The countdown begins now to the Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in three months. The first match will be played between England and New Zealand on October 5 in Ahmedabad. Visit finenews247 for the latest breaking cricket news online.
India, the host, will turn the World Cup game scenario on its head with their performance against Australia on October 8. The Chennai public will gather to watch the live IND vs. AUS 2023 match. We all have seen the dynamic performance that stood the mind of many cricket addicts.
India had a successful campaign in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, finishing as one of the top-four teams in the tournament. They won seven out of their nine group-stage matches and finished at the top of the points table. However, in the semi-final, India suffered a defeat against New Zealand and was eliminated from the tournament.
Australia, on the other hand, had an excellent run in the tournament and emerged as the champions. They won seven out of their nine group-stage matches and finished second in the points table. Australia then went on to defeat England in the semi-final and New Zealand in the final to claim their fifth ICC Cricket World Cup title.
In the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, which was co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, India had an outstanding tournament. They performed exceptionally well throughout the competition.
India won all their group-stage matches, defeating Bangladesh, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, and the West Indies. They finished at the top of Group B in the group stage.
In the knockout stage, India faced Australia in the quarterfinals and emerged victorious. They then faced arch-rivals Pakistan in the semi-final, winning that match as well.
In the final, held on April 2, 2011, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India faced Sri Lanka. After Sri Lanka set a target of 275 runs, India successfully chased it down with six wickets in hand and ten balls to spare. Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni played crucial innings for India in the final, with Dhoni hitting the winning runs with a six to secure India's victory.
This triumph in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup marked India's second-ever World Cup win, with their first coming in 1983. While Australia won the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy five times, i.e., in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015 seasons. Let’s see if this season will be the luckiest one for India or Australia.
According to today’s cricket news Online, Krishnamachari Srikkanth felt concerned about his country’s position in the World Cup, as India is dealing with an injured player. Rishabh Pant, after a road accident, is still recovering his health. But we have no idea whether he will be fit to confirm his seat in the India squad or not.I really think that Rishabh should get well soon, as the whole nation is waiting to watch him live in the upcoming cricket competition. Otherwise, Rishabh Pant’s absence would be a critical thing for India in the 2023 World Cup, Says former India opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth. He also pointed out that KL Rahul’s injury would be the reason for India's lower scores in the International League. However, at some point, I do think that India will score well with the opening players, like Captain Rohit and Shubman Gill, and will do better against each participant in the cricket competition. Second-string Indian team to play Ireland in two T20 Internationals
Tumblr media
A second-string Indian cricket team will play against Ireland in two T20 Internationals in Malahide on June 26 and June 28.
Cricket Ireland has confirmed that the Indian team would be touring Ireland for a short two-match T20I series in June.
However, the series is unlikely to see top players such as all-format skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, first-choice wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in action as the remaining one Test match from the last year's tour of England is scheduled to held from July 1-5.
"This summer will be a 'Season of Stars' as India, New Zealand and Afghanistan tour Ireland, while we will play South Africa in Bristol. We're set for the biggest home international season in Ireland ever!" Cricket Ireland tweeted.
India will kick off Ireland's bumper home summer by playing the two T20Is ahead of their tour to England, which starts with last summer's rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston on July 1.
After that, India is scheduled to play six white-ball matches -- three T20Is and three ODIs -- against England from July 7.
India last played in Ireland in 2018, winning a two-match T20I series 2-0.
"We are delighted to welcome back India Men's team for the first time since 2018, as well as the number one-ranked ODI side the Black Caps, who were last here in 2017, Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, said.
"Just as important, given we will shortly be heading to a T20 WC, are the two T20I series against South Africa and Afghanistan. Our thanks goes to Gloucestershire Cricket Club for agreeing to host the South African series.
"We decided to postpone both this year's planned tour to Zimbabwe in April and the home Bangladesh series into 2023. Even with these changes, we're still hosting a record amount of men's cricket against some of the world's top teams this year with more exciting announcements to come around our women's fixtures."
It is understood that Ireland Cricket's broadcast revenue from these two T20Is will help them earn more money than all matches against other countries in rest of the season.

India Down Kiwis In First T20 Match
India vs New Zealand - 1st T20I
Despite a century partnership (109) between Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman, New Zealand were beaten by India in the first T20 International in Jaipur on Wednesday as the home team reached a 165 target in 19.4 overs.
India in the process took a bit of revenge on the Kiwis for their loss in the T20 World Cup group stage that put them out of contention as new skipper Rohit Sharma and Suriyakumar Yadav slammed five sixes and 11 fours combined in making 48 and 62 respectively before both fell to paceman Trent Boult who had best figures of 2 for 31.
New Zealand did not have much of a chance in curtailing the Indian batting as Sharma and his opening partner KL Rahul (15) put on 50 runs in the first five overs that set the course for the home team in the absence of Virat Kohli who relinquished the captaincy after the T20 World Cup.
India had to make 10 runs in the last over which Rishabh Pant (17 not out) took care of.
In hindsight New Zealand finished the match to regret that a total of 164 was never going to be enough against India's star-studded batting line up in accustomed home conditions.
After losing opener Daryl Mitchell for a first ball duck and then recovering through the century second wicket stand between Guptill (70) and Chapman (63), New Zealand could not build up on the foundation with 6.4 overs left as Glenn Phillips fell leg-before without scoring to Ravichandran Ashwin two balls after Chapman was dismissed.
Scores: New Zealand 164 for 6 in 20 overs (Martin Guptill 70, Mark Chapman 63, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 2 for 24, R Ashwin 2 for 23) India 166 for 5 in 19.4 overs (Rohit Sharma 48, Suriyakumar Yadav 62, Trent Boult 2 for 31)

(on his birthday celebration) I can’t understand this cake-in-the face business (laughs), it’s quite messy. It was disappointing to lose that last game with a lot of wickets in hand. Shreyas Iyer (DC): We’ll bowl first. The wicket looks dry and the dew factor coming in later is a factor. That (the trends) definitely goes into our mind but we were constantly batting first in the early part of the tournament. But the wickets have become drier and that’s affected our plans. We want to end up in the top-two, and the boys are really motivated. After some bad performances, we sat together and talked about where we went wrong. Same team. TOSS: Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer wins toss, opts to field against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the captains – David Warner (SRH) and Shreyas Iyer (DC) – are in the middle for the toss. I asked Dhoni during 2008 Australia series: Irfan narrates how he wanted clarification from team management - cricket
https://liveindiatimes.com/i-asked-dhoni-during-2008-australia-series-irfan-narrates-how-he-wanted-clarification-from-team-management-cricket/
The former India pacer Irfan Pathan is still remembered as one of the best bowlers to be a part of the Indian cricket team. The left-armer made a name for himself when he picked up a hat-trick in the first over a Test match against Pakistan, dismissing Salman Butt, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf. Pathan was also a part of the 2007 T20I World Cup-winning Indian team, and with figures of 3/16 in 4 overs, he was named the man-of-the-match in the final against Pakistan. But Pathan’s international career had a disappointing end as he was unable to make it into the team on several occasions after the 2007 ODI World Cup.
Later in his career, Irfan received criticisms from fans and cricketing pundits that he is no longer able to get swing on the ball and also lacked pace. In a recent interview, Pathan opened up on the same and said that he was not completely backed by the team when he needed them to.

“When I was dropped, I was man of the match in the last ODI, and had man of the match in my last T20I. Wriddhiman Saha came back into the side without playing cricket for a year. When he was away, Rishabh Pant had already scored two hundreds, but still Saha was given a chance. Some players are backed, some are not. Some are fortunate, some are unfortunate. I was among the list of unfortunate ones,” he said in an interview to Sports Tak.
“People were saying that ‘Irfan Pathan cannot swing anymore’ and the team needed to change the atmosphere around this, but it was not done. If I am bowling as a first change, then of course I will not get as much swing as I used to. My role was changed. If I want to bowl attacking, my captain would tell me that my role is to contain – which meant I had to bowl more variations, and cutters.
youtube
“When you bowl more cutters, your bowling also changes accordingly. Even in practice, you are told to bowl this way. So, you changed my role, no problem. But now you back me. I feel that was not done completely,” he said.
Pathan went on to recall the 2009 T20I encounter against Sri Lanka in which he and his brother Yusuf Pathan stitched an unbeaten 60-run partnership for the 8th wicket to win a difficult match for India.
Also read: Bowl six balls at one place, he would hit them in six different directions: Brett Lee picks three batsmen he played against
“I remember Sri Lanka T20I match in which me and Yusuf won the match for India. If any player in today’s day and age, picks one wicket – of someone like Sanath Jayasuria, and then wins a near-impossible match for the team with the bat, he would not be dropped for at least a year.
“I remember, we went to New Zealand next, we played five ODIs, I didn’t play a single game. India were 3-0 ahead, one match was washed out, one game was left, and I didn’t even play that game. I had asked coach Gary Kirsten at that time what could I do to improve my game. He said, you are batting and bowling well, but certain things are not in my hands,” Irfan further revealed.
On being asked by the reporter that did he ever ask skipper MS Dhoni what can he do to be in the team, Irfan recalled the 2008 series against Australia.
Also read: ‘Was busy watching Tendulkar, Dravid and Ganguly’: When Bangladesh batsman was left starstruck by India’s Big Three
“Yes, I asked him. During the 2008 Australia series, Mahi bhai’s statement came out in the media that Irfan wasn’t bowling well. So I thought I had bowled well throughout the series, so I went and asked Mahi bhai about this. Sometimes, the statements are twisted in the media, so I also wanted to clarify. So Mahi bhai said ‘no Irfan, there is nothing like this, everything’s going as per plans’. When you get a reply like this, then you believe that okay, you do what you can. Also if you keep asking explanations again and again after that, your hurt your self-respect.
“I don’t have a habit of setting up hookah in someones’ room or talk about this. Everyone knows. Sometimes if you don’t speak about it, it’s better. A cricketer’s job is to perform on the field and that is what I used to focus on,” he further said.
“What it means to be a cricketer is to perform and if someone performs, he needs to be rewarded. If you don’t reward him, his confidence is bound to get hurt, no matter who that player is,” he added.

3:35 am: Welcome once again to Timesofindia.com’s live cricket coverage and if you are joining us from India, a very good morning as well to you. It’s day three of the second and final Test between India and New Zealand at Christchurch.
India’s top-order frittered away a golden chance with another shoddy batting performance as New Zealand regained complete control by stumps on day two.
Mohammed Shami (4/81 in 23.1 overs) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/62 in 22 overs) were brilliant in their execution, dismissing New Zealand for 235. However, India’s top-order failed miserably once again in the second innings as New Zealand bounced back, reducing India to 90/6.
India are now effectively 97 runs ahead with only four wickets in hand and it will take a miraculous effort to avert another series whitewash after the ODIs.
India had Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant batting on 5 and 1, respectively, when stumps were drawn on day two at the Hagley Oval.

Preview: India vs New Zealand - World Test Cricket Championship Final
India vs New Zealand - Prelude
Test cricket will come alive in all its focus on Friday while all roads will lead to the countryside of Southampton, the venue of the maiden ICC World Test Championship final as India and New Zealand make history as the first two countries to feature in the quest for top honours in the intellectual or traditional format of the sport.
Tumblr media
India with a powerful bowling and batting line-up are tipped as favourites by most analysts and pundits, but there are also the experts who believe that the Kiwis will be under less pressure and hence go in with a chance to prove many wrong.
Ironically the New Zealanders have had better preparation than the Indians having played in a two-Test series against the host England and won the final match after drawing the first while perfectly acclimatizing to the English conditions.
New Zealand had two landmark plus points in both the batting and bowling when fast bowler Tim Southee who broke into the New Zealand scene as a youth International blasted out the England batsmen one by one in the first Test to end with six wickets at Lord’s after debut making opening batman Devon Conway smashed a historic double hundred.
With fellow fast bowlers Matt Henry, Trent Boult, Neil Wagner and Kyle Jamieson to choose from, the New Zealanders can be assured they will go in with their best ever fast bowling battery since the days of the Richard Hadlee era of the 1980s.
Their batting too is sound on a firm footing with the likes of veteran Ross Taylor, captain Kane Williamson and Tom Latham forming the vanguard.
The match will also be the ultimate test for the Indian swing and pace bowlers comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma who are all capable of delivering the knock-out blows to suit the big occasion having proved how dangerous they are when their team came from behind to beat Australia 2-1 in a recent Test series down under.
With two world class spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja also lined up, the Indians have the potential to bowl out New Zealand twice for a historic result.
But for anything to happen much will depend on how India’s formidable batting line up face up to the in-form New Zealand bowling.
Here is where the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant will have to be at their final best.
Here's hoping that the English weather will hold up and permit five wonderful days of Test cricket to unfold.
SportCast will be pleased to bring you the post day's coverage of this historic Test match.

It is also not clear when Pant will join the squad, although he is expected to be available for selection for the first Test at Trent Bridge. On July 15, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had said in a media statement that Pant was asymptomatic but was nearing "completion" of his ten-day quarantine period as prescribed by Public Health England for all those who test positive for Covid-19 or are identified as close contacts. Pant would have finished his isolation by July 18 and, subject to clearing two Covid-19 tests would have been fit to join the squad. After the Indians dispersed for a three-week break a day after the World Test Championship final, which ended on June 23, Pant had moved out of the team hotel and Shah later confirmed that Pant had tested positive outside the team's bio-secure bubble. So far, Pant and Dayanand Garani, a support staff member, are the two members of the Indian contingent to test positive. The development came after the Indians had been given their second Covid-19 vaccines in London on July 7. Garani, who works as a throwdown specialist as well as a masseur, tested positive on July 14. Consequently, the BCCI medical team placed him in isolation along with bowling coach Bharat Arun (and his family, which is travelling with him), Saha and reserve opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran, all identified as Garani's close contacts. This group is currently in London and will undergo Covid-19 tests on July 20 and 22 before they travel to Durham.
