I love RPGs and otome games so much! Will you make an Undertale and Deltarune comic book series based on these games? Can you draw Sunny Day Jack's own psyche (inner world) from the deepest depths of his mind?

Well, I haven't made a comic series, but I did create the art and half the writing on this ask blog for Undertale called @risenchild. Sorry to say that it's on hiatus and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

As for Jack's drawing Jack's psyche... that's pretty tricky. If we're talking about an artistic medium, then making representations of what's going on in his head are pretty subjective.

Personally, I think, given how warped Jack's sense of identity is, it might look a lot like a studio set, distorted like an old VHS recording and with static along the edges of that world. The sunny world of the SunnyTime Crew Show would be overtop things that represent Joseph and his world. Pieces of Cloudy Town and the other cast members, kids in the audience, childish crayon drawings for more distant backdrops or on walls.

Underneath the child-friendly brightly colored paints would be more messed up visuals, especially influenced by his death. Jacktor's death was clearly a very traumatic one, and the fact that Jack has convinced himself that he is the character means that there are a lot of negative associations with Joseph Cullman/[Redacted] Haberdae. I imagine once peeling back the candy coated shell, there will be some truly horrifying things underneath.

I could try to take a crack at drawing this. I mean, it's not the first time I've drawn a warped character's twisted mindscape, but sadly I'm not sure when I'll be up for drawing again. I hope this description I painted with my words will be a good enough substitute.

Okay, I’m not gonna say @risenchild’s Frisk would spill quite this amount of sass all over her friends if they were bragging about how awesome it was to assault a child with intent to murder/kidnap, but...

I noticed you're reblogging a lot of Caretaker AU content (which is incredibly well drawn, and the creator seems very kind and approachable, by the way!) and I was wondering: what kind of AU sparks your interest? And which ones (besides the Caretaker one) are your favorites?

My dear Anon, why would I ever even need anything else, but the Caretaker?

In general, I’d say that the way to my heart is either through complete silliness (anime influence very much welcome), or at the very least recognizably carry the spirit of the game. Doesn’t have to be a carbon copy, but it does help keep my interest if at least the personalities of major characters remain at least familiar, even in an AU.

I’m willing to go with just about everything you throw my way, so long as the core spirit of the game is relatively intact and the story remains engaging enough. If you can put a new spin on old ideas, that’s another thing that’ll get you really good marks in my book.

As for specifics? Well, let’s see…

I have a soft spot for Underfell. I can never take their overly elaborate designs seriously, but I really like it when an Underfell version skirts the edge of silly and serious; where the characters somewhat ineffectual loser villains, but there is a genuine dark undercurrent. A good example would be the comic @hiimtryingtounderfell , which I think manages that dividing line pretty well.

Undersale, by @petite-pumpkin is another one I really like. Where at the time of writing it’s more of a collection of concepts than anything, it’s just such a refreshing and really dang cute take on the concept of swapping.

Other than these two, there are some other AUs I like, though I don’t necessarily follow them very closely (or even know the main artist/creator, WOE IS ME), but I still find their designs/story elements interesting. Examples would include Arctictale (there’s something just incredibly soothing about it), Underkeep (I’m a sucker for the designs), @risenchild, Playbacktale by @linssins, Oceantale (I think this is a Korean AU, but do correct me if I’m wrong), I used to follow Storyshift for a long while, and probably several more I just can’t recall off the top of my head.

But yeah, I’d say this is the basic rundown of some of the stuff I like. There’s way too many to count, but these were the ones I especially remember for one reason, or another. With that said, I’m also fairly curious on what AUs you (or anyone else by extension) like and why.

So if anyone feels like sharing their favorites with the class, please, feel free to do so!

This banter with the Chara variants is hilarious. Chestnut has her head too far up her own ass to admit her void stalemate won't ever go anywhere. I don't know what's up with the other one but they seem equally as pompous. All this "all worlds deserve to be erased" and yadda yadda; no personality beyond a pointlessly sadistic mightier-than-thou attitude. Continue roasting some more variants, it's hilarious. I'm rootin' for ya, kid.

Okay I know I said I was thinking of doing Repostober, but how about reblogtober instead with some extra commentary? What better way to start spooky month than some spooky faces made by the demon who comes when you call its name?

Seriously, making the various expressions, especially the spooky ones, is one of my favorite parts of @risenchild. Sorry about the super long hiatus, but between being unable to draw and my woeful lack of spoons, I'm just not able to work on it right now.

I’ve noticed that sometimes there’s confusion over how Chara is really feeling over on @risenchild​, so I decided to make a simple expression reference sheet.

Oh dear, the last one broke the emotion chart program. I guess that’s all we’ll be getting this time. Hope it was helpful anyway!

Who are your favorite Chara interpretations from other users?

Hmmmm well… I like @channydraws ichi a lot and @dreeming-royalty ‘s vampire knight chara is pretty cool too!!! Also afac did a really good job with their characterization I think! But if we’re talking Evil Charas I’d have to say that @katelynntheg and @risenchild write them very well…. And @the-mad-hattie ‘s smol chara is just plain cute! Here’s some doodles …..
