halloween abound and im like well this ship needs the vampire werewolf fic but whod be who and honestly picturing randy as a werewolf who is just trying not to hurt people and fights his instincts at every corner hes not even a very big wolf some would say hes just as pathetic human or not next to vampire benson who goes out and tears into people but it never quells the anger and hunger hes offputting and people can sense the danger he has suspensions about randy and ends up stalking him in his free time and he finds a wolf who chains himself in the woods poor randy is not living his normal life or his supernatural one

so benson stands by as wolf randy growls and snarls and tries to get to him unable to control himself or the beast thats been caged too long

I was looking for a good screenshot of gloom spawn to show a friend who hasn't played totk, and I noticed something I never got close enough to see before (because if there's a gloom spawn I am up a tree a mile away firing bomb arrows before you can say 'complete the compendium')

Spoilers ahead.

This screenshot is from Nintendo via Polygon (source), so I assume it hasn't been edited.

The hands are wearing rings.

The rings look like the rings on Link's borrowed hand. They do NOT look like the rings Ganon is wearing - his are on the index and middle fingers only.

TOTK has a pretty heavy emphasis on hands. There's Rauru's hand, of course, but also the very near miss of Link grabbing for Zelda at the beginning of the game (using his decayed hand specifically), which is finally rectified at the end when he IS able to grab her as she falls.

Consider also the obvious connotations of depression associated with gloom sickness.

I had been assuming that gloom spawn were extensions of Ganon, especially given Phantom Ganon, but this makes me think that perhaps the gloom spawn are supposed to be a representation of Link's fears and general state of mind - of his own hands betraying him when it mattered most.

William John Viola Jr (25 January 1951 - 12 July 2024)

Mr Viola is remembered for his contemplative video portraits, experimental soundscapes, and immersive new media installations that grapple with universal human experiences of life, death, and evolving consciousness.

Over the course of his five-decade career, Mr Viola helped cement video as a contemporary artistic means of expression by exploring the possibilities of image and sound technology through single-channel displays, special effects, and closed-circuit sculptural installations.

He often alluded to this experience in his practice, drawing from this memory and spiritual traditions like Zen Buddhism, Islamic Sufism, and Christian mysticism for works like his five-part video series The Reflecting Pool (1977–79), which challenges viewers’ understanding of time and consciousness by focusing on moments of transition, such as day to night or movement to stillness. 

Over the course of his life, Viola was the recipient of numerous awards and honorary degrees and was the focus of major solo museum exhibitions, including the two-year show Bill Viola,' A 25-Years Survey, which originated at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1997 and traveled to six museums in the United States and Europe. He also represented the US at the 46th Venice Biennale in 1995, where he presented a collection of five installations titled Buried Secrets that included the video work "The Greeting" (1995) — a project inspired by the early 16th-century Italian Mannerist painter Jacopo da Pontormo’s “The Visitation” (1528).
