thought, learning, & intellect headcanons

believe it or not, rionne is very intelligent. she's incredibly smart & intuitive, knows her way around legalities + contracts and even outside of the entertainment business she'd been forced into since infanthood, she could easily hold a fulfilling conversation covering a number of topics & theories and could probably host regular seminars and talks among the likes of harvard or oxford university for as long as she wanted to. the issue is, rionne has a questionable history — and although her past behaviors as a teenager & young adult were attributed to a number of factors, most people don't see her outside of the role of another washed up child star who sits on her ass & parties with hardcore drugs all day. so she readily plays into that trope, because it's just easier; and if we're comparing her outlook to those she chooses to surround herself with? it would be a jarring realization that these people are nothing like her, her peers are not her friends, and they never were in the first place. her strengths are clouded by these weaknesses, in that she could really change her behaviors as soon as she surrounds herself with likeminded individuals rather than the ones familiar to her; she just doesn't want to.

Leeva + Morrigan

okay so Leeva and Morrigan were close from the beginning, and bonded because of how they were both comparatively "outsiders" to society, Dalish elf and forest witch. and I mean, Leeva did have a big crush on Morrigan, too. they just never pursued it for a number of reasons - mostly that they were still grieving Tamlen, and that they were wary about the idea of romance with a human.

I think that they could have worked well together as a couple if things had gone slightly differently! Leeva loves kids and would be such a doting parent to Kieran, for one. but at the same time, Leeva's a lot more shy and anxious and withdrawn while Morrigan is... not lol. and they might have been good for rounding out each other and being a balancing act, but I feel like it's just as likely that they wouldn't be able to mesh in that area and their personalities there would clash. idk if I'm explaining it particularly well, but I just get the feeling that Leeva's personality would sometimes be drowned out by Morrigan's bolder one, if that makes any sense at all?? whereas they're more emboldened by Tamlen and Zevran's personalities. but with all that said, I still occasionally wonder if Leeva/Morrigan would be better, so... :P

Farira + Zevran

let the record state that I haven't finished Farira's playthrough yet, or Quista's. (Farira appreciates the compliment, by the way! :D) so if I load up the game sometime and change my mind on her romances and decisions, well, such is how it goes when my mind and OCs are fickle and I haven't touched a playthrough in months. 🥴

anyway, Fari and Zev! I also really considered this one, since Fari and Zev can be on basically the same wavelength at times; Farira was sort of conceived as "partying sorority sister: Orzammar royalty edition" who has issues with Orzammar's society and emphasis on caste structure, but still loves her people. she's just not interested in ruling herself, and she doesn't like the idea that it's something she'll have to do, it's too much pressure and she doesn't want the job. but that's only marginally related and I talk too much LOL; I think they would get along well and they could also last for a while as a couple. the only issue is really that there just isn't that attraction between them, at least last time I played, but they're still great friends and they care about each other a lot.

Quista + Josephine

poor Quista, her playthrough is even more unfinished than Farira's is. that's my bad, I'll wrangle my brain into finishing it sometime (thank you, ADHD). but Quista and Josie would actually be terribly adorable together, I think, and they might be better suited for each other than my plans for Quista/Sera? my only issue with the idea atm is simply that I've done Josephine's romance already with Rionne Lavellan, and I really love Sera and want to see her romance with Quista lol. I like the idea that she'll be able to draw Quista more out of her shell and inspire her to have fun. but if Quista's more into Josephine, then that's fine too and I'll let her go for it. it's all pretty up in the air rn.

2. a song i associate with my muse’s past —

keeping in mind that rionne has literally never had a Moment to herself since she was a literal baby and was thrust into the spotlight very young, mixed with the absolute chaos that followed, she’s got a sketchy past. the first song that comes to mind is overstimulated by jhene aiko, because it describes the period of rionne’s life when she was just...partying non-stop. drinking non-stop. taking and mixing a bunch of drugs that she never even knew the names or effects of. it’s also the song in which the lyric for her face tag comes from, so it’s rather appropriate! honorable mention songs include nobody by jhene aiko, note to self by mariah the scientist, and weekend by mac miller. may his memory be a blessing!

9. a song that would play while my muse is having sex —

let’s establish that izidora, when sexual, is disgusting — she will fuck any time, anywhere, to just about everything. she’s not exactly receptive to like, slow or moody / whispery r&b songs because she thinks that corny and will likely clown her partner for it. but most of the time, it’s chopped & screwed songs? or rap? or some random shit that managed to come on when the music’s on shuffle??? idk. something i think she would personally have sex to is fuck the world (summer in london) by brent faiyaz. and honorable mentions are pov by dvsn, slow motion by juvenile, and not nice by partynextdoor. are they necessarily fitting? no. but do the beats make her ass clap & have her feeling like a bad bitch? yes.

16. a song that my muse can’t stand —

pavati tries to be open minded when it comes to music and varying genres / artists, and never likes to outwardly say that she hates a specific song or artist. like, that’s rude & diminishing! that being said, she do be hating some songs though. it’s not many, but she do. a song that comes to mind that pavati would probably hate is roxanne by arizona whateverthefuckhisnameis, because it’s just so stupid? like, so what if she doesn’t like waiting in long lines? most people fucking don’t! so what if she spends her daddy’s money? that’s her business! plus, she don’t like you but you still singing about her! get over it! another honorable mention song that she’d also hate macarena by tyga, because do we even need a reason?

When he asked to come over with help on an assignment for a professor she’d already taken before, Rionne was actually in a generous mood for once. Between her own classes and the upkeep of the residents filling her hall, the woman barely had the time of day to finish her own work majority of the time — why not make use of the offer to get in some studying of her own as well? They were probably around an hour and a half into their separate readings when Rionne decided that they’d probably a lot more motivated if food and some drinks were involved in the mix, but she definitely doesn’t expect to see Marco sound asleep by the time she’d gotten back from a raid at the closest 7/11, nothing but humor touching her face as her eyes settled on Marco curled up around a cute and particularly fuzzy blue pillow. She wasn’t gonna blackmail him for it, though — at least not now, anyway. Instead, she decides to snatch his book out of his hands before he wound up drooling all over it before tapping his shoulder softly until Marco woke up. “New rule. Next time, can you give me a head’s up before our little study party turns into a slumber party?”

I doubt if there’s anything else that could even come to a close second after you’ve already lost your other half.” Not a shred of anxiety rested within Rionne’s voice, and she meant that sentiment quite literally. “My twin sister’s been missing since I was barely in middle school and I don’t talk to my parents anymore. But I guess if there’s one thing that counts, it’s tweaking and hallucinating that your dead sister’s in the room with you while popping a few in some girl’s bathroom at a party.”

at least, they suck when you promised that you would stay sober for these kinds of things, and as much as rionne desperately wants to indulge in her typical club going activities — mainly, drinking herself stupid and doing lines with random strangers in between breaks in the bathroom, she’s not exactly in the mood to cause a scene where one wasn’t necessary.

in fact, the only reason she went (and dragged braylen along as her plus one, with promises that she’d do just about anything the other asked in return) had been because a friend had been showcasing their dj set tonight, so drinks were half off. and she’s only had one. and it came from a rather unattractive party goer hoping to bend her over behind a dumpster later on, at that. so rionne hadn’t been hiding the fact that she severely regrets going out, and she expects to look across the bar and see the usual vaguely annoyed expression worn by her friend — instead, she’s met with a humored smile.

“yeah, so this was ass. hit up denny’s next and i’ll drop you off?”

What recurring dreams do they have? — for rionne.

rionne’s dreams — nightmares, as she would call them, consist of one thing and one thing only: her twin sister. it’s all different scenarios, sober or wasted, after a bender or after nights of insomnia, it’s all boils down to the same subject. it’s scary, to tweak in the middle of the room and see the reflection of a ghost that looked just like you, but thirteen years younger than you. in every scenario and every dream, monroe never ages, no matter how old rionne had gotten. the scariest ones were when monroe never moved. never spoke. the ones where rionne had been damn near ninety, grandkids and all…and monroe never once aged. or worse: when even in a heavy drug induced haze, she couldn’t get the stench of death from outside of her nose and couldn’t unsee empty sockets and the worms that fell out of her nose.

but she doesn’t even tell her group therapist that. so she pretends to laugh it off, blame it on overdoses of mixed pills and white powder noses. pretends it’s nothing. because monroe was dead, and that was that.

she’d been drinking again. there was also a fairly lit blunt in her hand, taking a few pulls from between her fingers, because cigarettes were too deadly for her. ironic. and there’d been a stranger talking to her for the last hour, and oddly enough, she welcomed the entertainment rather than telling him to go fuck himself a long time ago. it somehow makes her feel…more here. if here were a feeling able to be processed into words. something about the whole ordeal also felt cathartic to her, even though she doesn’t ask for the impromptu life lesson that he gave and she doesn’t quite feel like revealing all of her life tragedies either — that much, he could’ve looked up on his own. there were plenty of news articles to go around for the last decade.

“you do this often?” she didn’t mean to interrupt, at least no so harshly. her tone ran soft, and she allows the blunt to touch her lips for the last time before ashing it into the bar’s counter top, soon directing her full attention onto the stranger. “i don’t pin you as the type to give life lessons to strangers at a bar. but hey…what the fuck do i know?”
