one interesting thing about the character icons in rtdx is that in the game files every pokemon has at least a neutral, a happy, and a pained icon but some pokemon that were important characters in gti and psmd have their more unique sprites here and they have an updated resolution for the switch

#bwark #riolu and lucario also have all of their portraits from being a playable option in psmd #i wanna say that maybe in case they want to make another pmd game for the switch they updated all of these for pokemon that might reappear #there. as like why would they bother updating these icons for characters like ampharos and nuzleaf when they aren't important in rtdx #but that also might just be a reach since i don't know the ins and outs of development lol #i just think it's interesting that they're here and in higher quality
