In which they are travelling in a van (Merry) and later a bus (Sunny) through all of Brazil. That might be very selfish, but I'm doing it anyway. Thank @majubengel's amazing art for it.

They set pretty good places/locations for each straw hat: Luffy from Belo Horizonte (it's my city and I might be way too happy about it but whatever), Zoro from Salvador, Nami from Belém, Usopp from Brasília, Chopper from Canela, Robin from São Raimundo Nonato, Franky from São Paulo, Jinbei from Fortaleza and Brook from Cu de Judas (don't look this up btw it's not a real place it means judas' ass hole and it's just an expression to a very distant isolated place nobody knows), they also said Doflamingo is from Rio de Janeiro

Some other notes: non-human species are now brazillian folklore creatures. Perona is some kind of loira do banheiro (with the difference that she is alive). The Wano people are all of japanese descendant (Brazil is the place with most japanese people outside of Japan in the world). Doflamingo is basically a dono do morro very influencial in all favelas of Rio. The Amazon Lily girls are Icamiabas, who are said to have been a group of indigenous fighting ladies at XVI century who were mistaken to be the amazons. Kept the Charlotte family food theme cuz I want it (has no explanation for it actually). CP-9 is from ABIN (though they are much cooler than ABIN). Ohara is set in Serra da Capivara as it is a historical spot with lots of cave paintings and stuff. Chopper is a veado-bororó-do-sul. Luffy is basically Chico Bento (look him up). Campinas is Egghead cuz it's a technology poll. Gramado is Elbaf cuz its a touristical point because of its influence from european immigrants' culture. Law is from Niterói cause... well, Niterói and Rio are similar to US's New Jersey and New York. Sorry, Niterói, you get a horrible death from bio weapon, swear it's nothing personal (I also wanted to "parallel" revolta da vacina). Chose Ouro Preto to the setting of Thriller Bark due to it being full of ghost stories, old buildings (like, centuries old) and stuff. Sea Lords are Boiuna and Minhocão. One of Hancock's sisters is basically the Princesa Encantada de Jericoacoara. Her place was taken by Mihawk and that's Kuraigana Island. Fishman Island is Manaus.

After the first time watching Across the Spider-Verse I CANNOT get over Pavitr Prabhakar showing the audience around his version of Earth (Earth-50101 I think? IDK man I have dyscalculia, you think I can keep track of numbers?) saying:

"This is where the traffic is! And this is where the traffic is! And this is where the traffic is! And this is where the traffic is! And this is where the British keeps/has/stole [????] our stuff!"

PAVITR- I nearly choked on my popcorn because of that line delivery in that same, cheery voice.

I'm also fully subscribed to the theory that Gwen's storyline is one big blatant metaphor for [her] being transgender. The specific colorways used after she's forcibly sent home by Miguel (yikes, btw...) and talks to her dad during That Scene. There's a flag in her bedroom that says in bold capital letters "Protect Trans Kids" (or "Youth") for heck's sake. That's a pretty damn obvious thing to have in the background! There looks to be a patch on her dad's uniform in the color-scheme of the trans flag!

I was seeing so many little parallels to my experience with trying to decide if I'd come out to my parents as bi a few years ago between the conversations Gwen tried having with her dad, and the last segment of the movie between Miles and Rio.

It felt like a very strong metaphor for Coming Out and my personal takeaway after watching it for the first time is that it's little coincidence this movie came out during Pride Month.

I definitely want to go see this in theaters again. This movie was a beautiful work of art.

I was discussing this with a friend. I did a research paper on queer coded characters in animation. As a result I read a bunch on queer theory and queer readings of film. Throughout watching I couldn’t get out of my head how revealing that they are Spider-Man/woman/person (you know) feels very similar to coming out. Ngl (and spoilers) when miles revealed he was Spider-Man to the wrong Rio I really related. It’s like he’s is revealing this huge part of himself that he is forced to keep secret and Rio kinda doesn’t care. That’s kinda what it was like for me coming out. Granted I love my parents and they support me but… it wasn’t what I was hoping for. Anyway gay and trans spider people for life.

Sara - she/her (they) i think she's a trans girl, her family is super supportive (including kai, even if she doesn't know it) and she met ryoko right after choosing her name and was just beginning to grow her hair out. she was pretty shy so ryoko's basically seen her become herself. wen she started growing out her hair she became obsessed with taking proper care of it and styling it a bunch. also nearly immediately ruined her first girls uniform playing in a creek (thats a whole other story i have written though)

Joe - he/him/any he's a trans guy, he doesn't really wanna medically transition & he has no plans for it. met sara & ryoko around start of highschool where he did sara's hair once and ryoko has regret it ever since. he's not secretive about it but people usually think he's fully cis and he doesnt really mind it. sara immediately clocked him (he didn't though) and they were like hey. heeeyy

I made this post before about the trans episode of The Good Doctor but that was on season 1, I'm on season 4 now and there's another one! Like last time, I loved the ep, and I will give you context:

The episode 4x09, "Irresponsible Salad Bar Practices" (title unrelated to the patient btw) includes the case of Rio, a trans man with a brain tumor. He is an adult (unlike the trans character of the last ep), has been on T for a while and has had top surgery (the actor, a trans man himself has lovely top surgery scars, but i digress). He's also in a relationship with a cis gay man, that's important to know.

The episode starts with him doing a check up, where Dr. Reznik asks him for his gender and pronouns to update the hospital records cause "Software clearly needs a trans update." Ok, the important bit is that Rio need surgery to remove the tumor. The tumor has grown rapidly, they think because of high levels of hormones... Rio is pregnant.

This all is handled nicely and respectufl, not once he is missgendered, not once they assume any of the patients decisions because of his gender or his pregnancy. Except fo Shaun (surprise!). As always, because he's a stereotype of an autistic man, he asks very inappropriate and offensive questions that are none of his business and are not medically relevant. Just because he wants to understand.

This annoys me, but I can't really complain cause it's also what I like the most in these types of episodes. Shaun genuinely wants to learn and be better.

Anyways, he asks Rio's boyfriend, Eli, if he "considers himself gay" even though he "has vaginal intercourse". Eli answers with some restraint (I would have punched him, who the fuck cares, Eli isn't even your patient. But anyways...).

Later on in the episode, Shaun says the following line when talking to Eli (which saves the entire thing imo). "I read that cisgender people often reduce transgender people to their genitalie, and that that is offensive. Did I do that to you and Rio? I'm sorry."

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to add the rest of my favorite line! Shaun says he's confused about Rio because he has gone through hormone replacement therapy, he has had top surgery but now "he's choosing the most female act" and Eli, very calmly responds "it's not female if Rio is doing it" which is exactly what I said to my mom one time when there was an interview on tv about a pregnant trans man. I love that line. Pregnancy is only a female act, when females do it. Anyways, Shaun looks taken a back for a second and just answers "yes" and then continues to talk about how Rio must have dealt with prejudice, and he relates to that.

This proves once again that Shaun wnats to learn, cares about learning, and he can do it on his own. He didn't harrass his trans patient with questions (at least after realizing he didn't like that). He went and did research on his own, realized his mistake and apologized. That's so important to me! Because none of his offensive remarks, on this episode or back to the one in season 1, none of those comments where from a place of hate. And I do want to bring up this point again, that his ignorance about trans issues has nothing to do with his autism. His bluntness and need of logical understanding have (because, again, he's a stereotypical cookie cutter autistic writen by allistic people). His ignorance has a lot to do with the fact that this man was homeless for a while, didn't have a supportive enviroment, i don't really know what his school life was like, but he lived in a small town, his "mentor" was his younger brother, who died when they were kids. It's not like he had many oportunities to open his mind to the wonders of the trans community you know?

Once again, not defending transphobia or justifying anything. Just sharing my humble opinion about the lowest rating episode of the whole show so far, according to IMDb (although that has everything to do with the reviews being like "this woke series, why do you talk about trans issues and racism? this is supposed ot be ESCAPISM not a documentary" as if that was a valid review lol).

The episode also included a case to do with racism, which I also really enjoyed and think it was handled nicely. But alas, I don't think my opinion is too important as a white dude who doesn't know much about racism and the shit that black people go through, specially when seeking medical attention. I can give my opinion on trans issues all I want, but that's as far as my experience goes.

Btw, Rio had his surgery, is perfectly fine and soon to be a dad with his lovely soon to be husband Eli :')

Rambling about Leon Dompteur

Does anyone also feel like Leon is definitely a trans ally.... It’s just so certain in my head. I think it’s because his route centers a lot around identity and its performance. For someone that has to pretend/act as something people around him forces him to be his whole life, he’d understand so well. I’m definitely not saying it’s directly analogous to being trans, his story is more about showing the inherent fakeness of the monarch’s social status. Like there’s nothing holy in a king’s blood. What makes a prince is, for him, probably entirely just performance. 

The fact that he succeeded in keeping his secret for, idk how many years old he is, should’ve made him even more disillusioned with the monarchy. I think his route could’ve gone deeper with this. I don’t know why they don’t. There’s so many things to say about his situation. Like how did his relationship first went with his brothers? How did his rage gone so easily? Throughout his route I feel more angry for him than he is. They did say he has grown up and moved on... I don’t know, I wouldn’t grow up so easily in his place. 

There’s something straight up nightmarish about his life that the route just won’t touch. I’m Looking at him and I’m like “yeah, there should be something horribly broken in there.” To be who he is at that point I imagine there’s so many growing he had to do. Why didn’t they show that growing in the actual route? WHy is it something that I have to theorize and think about? Do they deliberately want us to write fanfiction about it ourselves OR WHAT

Back to the trans ally thing. I’m not going about the theory that gender is a performance btw... It’s just that, probably, the anxiety, the constant gaze you feel viscerally from everyone around you, the constant brainwork of whether or not you look convincing, whether or not they can Tell, that conviction in the back of your mind that your life is always on the line. Chevalier did literally threatens to cut his head off when he told the truth. That threat probably has always been there. How do you fucking grow up with that, by the way. How do you start at 6 years old and dealt with That.  AnywaY. That constant anxiety. Can definitely relate to the trans experience. Both in transitioning and in being forced to be the gender assigned at birth. ISN’T IT AMAZING HOW MUCH I CAN CONFLATE EVERYTHING INTO WHAT I WANT

My OC Valerie is trans. I’m pairing her mainly with Leon. I’m gonna make them so happy. Can you imagine any other character being accepting? I feel like Leon is the safest guy here. Amazing. Can you imagine the nightmare their life would be if he becomes king, probably even worse than the previous Belle and King, BUT THEY’RE GONNA BE SO HAPPY. Leon doesn’t give a shit about blood heir, he won’t give a shit about political marriage. He can make anyone a prince. He’d invent meritocracy. Valerie is gonna be super strong and powerful, people that talked shit Fear her. They’re gonna be so in love and so happy. This ends my cope for today

edit: I completely forgot about the existence of Rio. Now HE’S the ultimate trans ally. NO ONE can compete with him

Alright so this is my very first book rec masterpost and I tried to fit all the information I can remember. I’ve started reading books with lgbt+ themes mainly in the last year and have found many of the titles in other recs so I’m sure that a lot of the books here are not new to anyone, but I’d like to share anyway!
