fret's been mulling over this for the better half of a week. he doesn't know how to touch the conversation, how to begin to apologize. he's never fucked up this bad before. he's been too afraid to even show his face around rindo in person.

it's past midnight & he has been tossing & turning & trying to get to sleep. but he can't. the guilt that's been building up these past few days is starting to eat him alive & if he doesn't do something this second, fret thinks it might eat him whole.

[ MESSAGE TO : RINDUDE ] hey are you awake?

[ MESSAGE TO : RINDUDE ] i wanted to say i'm sorry about before.

[ MESSAGE TO : RINDUDE ] i'm so fucking sorry man.

     IT'S BEEN ALMOST A WEEK since his & fret's fight, & rindo hasn't seen nor talked with him once. this isn't by accident. no, he suspects it's a pointed effort on both their parts. the others have noticed — hard not to — but he never knows what to tell them when they ask, usually just giving some vague reply about a disagreement & letting things blow over. he'd even given the same excuse to shoka, despite her being his closest confidant. it just isn't something he wants to talk about. certainly doesn't help that he has no idea how to talk about it.

     how silly of him to think he could get away with that.

     shoka messages him that night. it's not easy to talk about, but he finds the words somehow, even as vague as they are. her advice plays in his head on repeat : just be honest with him. ha ! just talking to fret was easier said than done ! he doesn't even know where to begin when it comes to apologizing ! thus, rindo is left staring at his & fret's message history well into the night as he agonizes over what to say & how to say it. he could just not, he thinks, rolling onto his side as he lays in bed, the phone screen lighting his face in the darkness of his room. no, he told shoka he'd talk to him. rindo groans inwardly. just be honest with him.

     but honest is : i could've been nicer, but you overstepped & i didn't mean it, but i warned you before. honest is : i'm so sorry but i hope you're sorry too. honest isn't kind, & honest could just make things worse. honest is hard — tremendously hard — but honest is necessary. his thumbs move to the keyboard &���—

     as if on cue, fret messages him first. it almost makes rindo angry. it feels like he's been given a scapegoat, or like when he tried to apologize for snapping at him over teaming up with kanon. fret had gotten to him first then, too, meaning rindo still hasn't apologized for that one either. it feels almost like a robbery.

     still, the relief is palpable, running over him like a wave that takes away that immediate frustration & grants him a sense of clarity. what once had been agonizing was now, perhaps, the easiest thing on the planet.

I just realized the main story of Neo talks about Covid, too (and not just Another Day).

It’s in Week 1, when you’ve gone back in time to try and keep the Deep Rivers Society from ambushing you. You hear about this guy who’s pretty big, selling masks and hand sanitizer. And Frets says, “Sounds right up your alley, Rindude.” And Rindo replies, “Mine (my mask is for fashion.”

Now I kind of want a fanfic about how our characters dealt with Covid.

Or maybe I also don’t want that. IDK.

Btw the rats are immortal I think

I'm guessing the poison wasn't expired? Either way that's actually crazy- I suggest you either find a magic nut cracker, find the sugarplum princess and harness her power to defeat the rat king, putting an end to this invasion OR gather as many as possible, put them in a locked box so that they may consume eachother and then release the remaining cannibal rat out into the habitat of your worst enemy. :)

I leave for a week to find my ask box full of rats!!! It's chill lol- gives me the chance to put my Beatrix Potter artists studies to good use (finally!) On another note, I saw a mouse in the london underground the other day. It was very small and round and pretty cute tbh- I've never seen a rodent in that kinda environment before so it was kinda cool- :)

I get so happy everytime you post fics, I loved the Shinigami meets Saga and the my immortal parody was hella funny and gives me an excuse to draw in the emo art style again
