I didn’t really feel like doing this so instead I give you my End of the Year Top Ten Lip products list. Enjoy!

10) Rimmel, Show offs matte lipstick in greige. They discontinued the formula. The fuckers! I’m using the last of this sparingly while I cry about it.

9) Alba Lip gloss: This has been the year of over-priced, sparkly, obnoxiously sweet smelling lip glosses and I’m kinda over them. This one is from the drugstore, it comes in a tube so you can just squeeze it out and dab it on without destroying your lipstick and it smells faintly of coconuts. It doesn’t feel heavy on the lips and it’s not super sticky.

8) Bioderm Sensibio lip balm. Look at me I’ve got lip balm from France.  And it’s only $5. And it doesn’t smell like mint or roses or any of the other scents that I’m quasi allergic to. It is super hydrating, plain lip balm. I swab it on before bed and first thing in the a.m. so that it soaks in before I put on my lipstick. My lips are living again. 

7) Liipstick Queen, Jungle Queen. This replaced my beloved NYX butter in fireball. Great color, great formula but shitty, shitty packaging. It came open in my purse. Thank god the lining of my purse is that exact same hot orange color. (Thank you @idlesuperstar). Then I discovered Lipstick Queen and now I have this gorgeous green metal tube that stays tightly shut. The shade is a perfect hot coral color for summer and the formula is smooth, creamy and opaque. This is the exact shade Norma Desmond would have worn sitting by the pool with her toy boy in Sunset Boulevard. It matches Leopard print and sunglasses perfectly. TDF.

6) Lipstick Queen Cupid’s Bow in Desire. I really got into the whole Nudestix trend. I bought a bunch of them. I loved that they worked on the lip and the cheek. I loved the fucking tins and the sharpeners. The only problem was the lipsticks were kind of shit actually. Like they have ZERO staying power. They should just have called every shade WHY BOTHER.  Also they were mint scented. UGH. WHY??? Enter Lipstick Queen Cupid’s Bow. It looks and acts just like a nudestix lippie. You can use it on the lip or cheek. It can be used as a liner or on its own. It has a mild vanilla scent. No tin, but you get a really good sharpener. And guess what? It actually lasts more than 15 minutes. HOO. RAY. (PS you can get them on amazon for like $12 which is about half of what a nudestix costs). I am love.

5) Jeffree Star liquid lip in No Tea No Shade: I confess I bought this lipstick because of the shade name and because of the packaging. I love the chunky pink plastic feel of it, like Hello Kitty or Barbie but feels seriously heavy and expensive in the hand. The formula is really good. It is the only lip product that can survive eating and drinking for me. The shade is beautiful. Not super wearable for every day, but fuck it, sometimes you need to wear a deep maroon with gold flecks. And OK I bought this before I know JS was racist trash. I’m not sure I’ll ever buy another lipstick from him because even though I love this, because I just don’t want to support him.                                                                     

4) Winkylux Creamy Dreamies in lip silk and milk shake. This has been the year of Winkylux for me. I have seriously bought like every fucking thing they sell. Their price point hits the sweet spot between drugstore and luxury and they always have sales and coupons and deals. I’ve been getting their lipsticks for around $12 a piece which is just about Revlon territory.  The creamy dreamies is a good classic cream formula, blottable, buildable and really smooth and nourishing. Milk shake is a gorgeous, bright, every day red and lip silk is completely sheer and works as a wonderful base for matte lipsticks.

3) Lipstick Queen Red Carpet Lipstick in velvet rope: OK, I have to tell you guys a story. When I was a kid my mom’s gay friend Todd went to New York in the last days of disco and he bought my mom a Halston lipstick at Barneys. It had a gold metal tube that looked like an art deco sculpture. She wore every last particle of that lipstick, making it last through the Reagan administration. So that is the lipstick by which all others are judged and this Lipstick Queen is probably the closest I’ll come to the Halston. Just pulling it out of your purse is a fucking event. The color is exactly like a velvet rope, a deep, dark red. It lasts better and is way more comfy if I wear it over a Cupid’s Bow.  This is a fifty dollar lipstick but I got it on Amazon for like $28 or something. Still spendy but not so horrific. 

2) Fenty Beauty in Sci-fly. OMG this lipstick is amazing. I’m so in love with it. I’ve only had it a month, otherwise, it might top the list. The color is a gorgeous sheer, berry purple with flecks of glitter. It feels gritty in the tube but goes on pretty smooth. It’s a skinny bullet so you can always get a good shape, but unlike most skinny bullets it’s not got MOM’S LIPSTICK written all over it, because it’s fucking FENTY. The packaging is amazing and light and remarkably secure. I love carrying this in my purse. It’s unscented which is so great and I fucking LOVE the formula. It lasts. A sheer lipstick that lasts!  Especially over a lip liner, this will stay on me for like five hours. AMAZE BALLS. Rihanna's makeup is not just celebrity BS. It’s real. I wish I had the $$ to buy the whole damn line.

1)Winky Lux Whipped Matte lippies. I started out the year with one of these, a brown-leaning nude, called Meow.  I loved it so much I got another. And another. Annnnnd another. Then I got the mini pills kit. The Winky Lux lipsticks are shaped like pills. They are super cute. The packaging is secure and even the minis give you a ton of product for the size. I love how compact these are while still being cute and usable. The formula is really good. They last 5ever, are super saturated and opaque but they don’t dry out my lips, especially if I use them with the Creamy Dreamy Lip Silk. These have replaced all the cheap drugstore matte lippies that I used to wear on the daily. Those just destroyed my lips over time. They also went off pretty fast so you had to use them quickly. I’m finding that is the case with the Winky as well and my Meow has started to smell a bit iffy after about 9 months or so, which is tragic. Still I will probably repurchase because it’s such a great color and because I did get most of the way through the tube.

Hi! This is just an announcement post to say that I uploaded a makeup tutorial.  It was kind of a “practice” video. I have this urge to film makeup tutorials, but I keep making excuses- there’s no room in my apartment, my lighting sucks, editing is a struggle, my arms look big, I don’t have time, I act awkward on camera, somehow it looks like I have a lazy eye when I’m talking to the camera, etc.  This one has all of those aspects, but I still went ahead and did it.

The makeup has all kinds of flaws and didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted.  I would describe this makeup as a get ready with me while I slap on and go look. If I was going out somewhere, I would have cleaned up my contour with translucent powder, carved out my brows, and more finishing touches. In reality though, I put this on and took it off to just hang out in my apartment.  Please excuse those undesirable little things.

About the makeup

I used the Tartelette in Bloom palette because it’s been too long since I picked it up to use on my self and the champagne gold shade was calling my name. For this look I tried out the Voila style lashes by Esqido.  They contacted me to send them a sample of the pair of my choosing and their lash glue.  I was very excited to receive an email from them with the offer because I’ve seen youtubers talk about these lashes for years.  They were very lightweight and popped right on when I used them.  The lash glue comes in a lipgloss style packaging with a brush applicator. The packaging is the prettiest lash glue I’ve ever tried, and it seemed to do the job. These are lashes that screamed “bridal” to me.

Spring Beauty Haul

I’ve shared my everyday makeup routine, and a few skin care lifesavers but I’m constantly changing things up and trying new things to better equip myself with right set of products that’ll allow me to put my best face forward. Around this time of the year I like to review the contents of my makeup bag and hit the refresh button. I don’t usually have time to really indulge in self-care, so when I find a product that is gold you better believe I’m going to share my intel! So today I figured I’d offer my insights on a few products that have been in constant rotation – from primers (for both my face and my lashes!) to the perfect pore-blurring powder. If you’ve tried any of these products share what you love, or loath, about them in the comments below!

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer - For under $10 this primer does wonders for my skin! Smoothes and mattifies my skin so that the remainder of my makeup application is effortless. I highly recommend!

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Primer Mascara - I can’t recommend this product enough! You swipe on your lashes just before you apply your mascara and BAM, major drama! It pairs with any mascara, not just this one, and creates amazing volume while still being lightweight.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Maple - This has by far become not just my favorite lipstick but my favorite shade of red! Pairs perfectly with my olive skin tone and the formula is comfortable on the lips. A standout product, for sure.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer - This stuff is pure magic! I was really hoping it didn't live up to the hype because $24 for concealer is a little ridiculous but it's as good as it's advertised. Full coverage concealer for mom's everywhere. FYI - only available at Ulta.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder - Gah, this leaves the skin looking perfect! Blurs pores and has a silky finish, so your skin appears flawless. Also mattifies without looking cakey.

Previse HydoMilk Hydrating Lotion - I received this product in my Sept. 2015 BOXYCHARM and applied every so often but have recently rediscovered it and I’m in love. Very moisturizing and leaves the skin feeling smooth and hydrated. I love to apply this at night after washing my face.

Hi everyone! I’m back with one of my oldest polishes to show you. The name of this color is Gold Silk by Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro. This, my friends, is the polish that started everything. I bought it at the grocery store back in 2013 simply because I liked the color and the square-shaped bottle. I had no idea how much I would love it! Little did I know that the brush and formula would be incredibly easy to work with, so I would then go on to purchase as many other colors from this collection as I could find before they became discontinued. Why do they always discontinue the best stuff?!

I haven’t worn this color in a long time – at least five years – so it’s good to have it back on my nails again. It’s a lovely light shimmery beige with a frosty finish. I think it looks good with the warm undertones in my complexion. However, I would have given it a different name. The color leans more towards nude than gold, but somehow silk seems to make sense. I guess I would call it Beige Silk or Champagne Silk instead.

The first coat was very sheer with visible nail lines, so I added a second one as usual. I’m satisfied with two coats, but a third one wouldn’t hurt. The summer is a good time to wear light colors like this, but it’s really one of those classic shades that could be worn all-year round. A good thing about light neutral colors is that if you accidentally get some on your cuticles when you’re applying it, it doesn’t stand out that much and it’s not as obvious when it starts to chip – which will take a while. As if the wide brush and smooth formula weren’t enough reasons to love these polishes, somehow they also last a long time as the cherry on top!

I was able to find a few more new polishes to try and review, so I plan on doing two in August and two in September. So, I’ll be back in two weeks with the next one!

Sparkling Holiday Nails

Holidays is around the corner, today I'd share a very pretty and sparkling 

holiday nail tutorial! It's very simple and easy to create!

Nail polishes used, from left to right

Rimmel Gold Silk, e.l.f. Golden Goddess, Quick dry top coat

1) 1 coat of the essie base coat (you can use any base coat from any brand)

2) 2 coats of Rimmel Gold Silk (to create a soft rose gold base, view review here)

3) 2 coats of e.l.f. Golden Goddess (for the mix of gold glitters and sparkling effect)

4) 1-2 coats of the top coat, and you're done! ^_^

these mix of glitters are so hard to capture from my camera,

but I think this one shows nicely! As my hands move, these

glitters shine gorgeously! I really like it! What do you think?
