man,,,, honestly Volume 7′s second half really carried it for me. I LOVED the first half- it really hit all the comedic aspects for me and the Summer Rose lore STILL has me chewing glass daily. Seeing the parallels between the Ace-Ops and our gang and how they operate and how Winter bridges between the two sides the whole Volume, too. One of my favourite parts of the Atlas arc as a whole is JNOR’s side and especially Ren and Oscar- seeing Ren spiral like that really hurts, and Oscar just absolutely carried v7 for me with his conversations with Ironwood (god the contrast between the two, by the way), give the poor kid a break... Aaron Dismuke has always done amazing work voicing him, too. And QROW MY GUY WHO DESERVES A FUCKING BREAK ALSO. He doesn’t need solitary confinement he needs a fucking therapist. That fight scene was so good but also so heartbreaking. The music work was incredible as always, Alex Abraham delivering 🔥 Penny this Volume was so sweet but I’m also just so sad for her she doesn’t deserve to be put through so much crap and dehumanised like that by so many people in and out of her life. Let her go about it in peace guh. Overall I’d rate it a funnie 7.5/10! Really well-balanced, I feel like most of the weak spots for me came from runtime constraints really (i.e. just timings on transitions between big emotional beats), the others from just not really feeling sure over how to process everyone’s alignments on the protect Atlas vs save Mantle situation. And GOD Kiersi and Eddy made a really great debut in my book with this one. I really enjoyed everything we got from it, overall <3
