Yesterday as we departed Fort Tilden after a blissful day I was talking about how I believe this time will be remembered not as the trump era but the time of the New Green Revolution, when environmentalism and the miracle of marijuana medicine merge to save and change the world for ever. As I was doing so this emerald legend rode up beside us and when we stopped the car I went over to ask for his photo. I’m the midst of this madness I just realized it’s the Vernal Equinox today which means it’s also the 6th Anniversary of RiDiNHii. When I started this blog we were living full time in the city and it was my lifeline to nature. Inevitably, that line has led us back where we belong and the timing feels very fortuitous. For this we are very grateful. Grateful to this land, the Algonquin spirits who still reside here and all who have supported us along the way. The reason I started RiDiNHii was to encourage relationships with our natural surroundings and I hope we have achieved this... oh and with all this spare time I been making progress on Green Love, promise! Ultima is a body of work that is deeply rooted in environmentalism, showing my concern for the future by depicting the ways in which mankind’s creations have an impact on the planet. Primarily it is about the modern conflict between the manmade world and the natural world, and between modern and primitive cultures. I portray this as an epic struggle and in my work these forces clash in theatrical, post-apocalyptic battlegrounds. My goal with this project is to create striking juxtapositions between the ruins of modern civilization and a futuristic ecological utopia. The narrative progression shows a rediscovery of these remnants belonging to the conceivably forgotten past. .
