MEET THE CLAN-

Ridgeclan is home to 10 cats at the start of moon 1 each ranging in different personalities and desires,

BURDOCKSTAR:

Burdockstar is the leader of Ridgclan at this current time, she is a rather young leader but that only means a longer time in control of her clan. Like her father before her she was trained to rule the clan with strict paws and a hatred for other clans within their borders.

BRACKENSTEP:

BrackenStep is the current deputy of Ridgeclan and yet some dont think he deserves the position, the tom is rather arrogant thinking he is the best warrior in the clan i mean he was chosen to be deputy after all. The truth only being that he was chosen because he would blindly follow BurdockStar off the cliff side if she so ordered it.

SILENT WHISPER:

With all the tough cats in the positions of power SilentWhisper is a nice face to have in the medicine den compared to the battle hungry Burdockstar. She is a very spiritual young cat who takes every sign she sees as a omen from starclan even though BurdockStar could care less for them.

GUSTGLARE:

The oldest warrior and cat living in the clan as of now, GustGlare is a spitful tom who thinks he should have been chosen as the new deputy. He knows he cant oppose BurdockStar but his resentment towards BrackenStep shines through to his apprentice BlackberryPaw.

SALMONSCALES:

For having a strange choice in name for a RidgeClan cat SalmonScales makes up for it in her loyalty and fierceness. She is very much the brute of the clan following any act of agression towards the other surrounding clans with glee.

WILLOWHEART:

Compared to her clanmates WillowHeart is by fair the kindest of all the warriors in the clan, she tends to help out any cat along the border who are from another clan before any agression breaks out, her luck hasnt run out yet and her acts of kindness towards the enemy havent been discovered.

SPARKRUNNER:

The youngest out of all of the warriors SparkRunner is a rather bubbly face to see in such a harsh clan, maybe its theur young nieavity or just pure blindness to the horrors of his clans actions he doesnt seem to grasp the corrupt teachings of his clan.

BLACKBERRYPAW:

With a mentor like GustGlare a cat is bound to end up nervous and insecure, as the only apprentice as of now and with talk of such traitorous plans from his mentor BlackberryPaw is certainly feeling the pressure of living up to his clans expectations.

DANDELIONKIT:

An excitable kit who always wants to prove herself with her already growing skills DandelionKit is very ready to become an apprentice to serve her clan she has fully bought into the lies passed down to BurdockStar ready to follow her teachings maybe she'll even become the great leaders apprentice.

HOLLOWKIT-

The younger half brother of the great BurdockStar he already feels the hatred of his half sister and clan members after all being a half clan abomination to his clan and spawn of a traitorous mother that hate is very much respiricated, even filled with so much hate he cannot wait to start his apprenticeship wanting to fufill and dark plans he has cooking up in that tiny child brain of his.

Designs for the clan leaders! I want each clan to feel uniquely they’re own, with physical differences & even different government systems between the clans, & the leaders are step one! Plus I wanted to take a break from writing lore and draw cats.

A daring group of cats who live in the woods on the cliffs of a state park, located along a river, RidgeClan is known for living on the edge, always chasing new challenges and laughing in the face of fate. This Clan is no place for cowards - to be a true warrior, a RidgeClan cat can show no fear. RidgeClan is full of acrobatic cats who are used to navigating and climbing the trees sprouting from the cliffs, as well as swimming. They are typically light on their paws, agile, and often covered in scars from their exploits - such marks are seen as a sign of courage from overcoming past challenges.

RidgeClan loves challenges, dares and feats of bravery - to become a warrior of RidgeClan, you have to cross a rushing waterfall to prove yourself. Due to their territory encompassing cliffs, forests and a river, they are known for being jacks-of-all-trades - most RidgeClan cats can climb, sneak, and swim. Wars against this Clan can be deadly, as they strike hard and without hesitation, like a tornado touching the earth. They may receive the least amount of prophecies from StarClan, but they still remember those in the stars by telling tales of the exploits of those who have long since passed. They are the bravest, and you will know it.

Meet the OCs: Horizonshine (she/they) - @clanborn

A courier of Brookclan, responsible for trekking over rough terrain to exchange news and deliveries between the clans. A friendly and persistent cat, yet impulsive and immature, with a history of “attention-seeking” behavior. Few members of her clan like them, which has left her resentful and out of place within her own home. She finds herself trapped in an apocalyptic time loop perpetuated by the Lynx, one of the clans’ gods.

Ratcatcher (he/it/they) - @andflightsofangelssing (art by @/sp1resong)

Ratcatcher is as of now a rogue. Previously, they were a medicine cat in the mountain-based clan of Ridgeclan. It started a revolution by accidentally revealing that their leader was corrupt, and made them sicken and/or kill innocent cats. Nowadays, he spends his time awaiting the delivery of his kits and bathing in the sun with his best friend, Ospreycatcher.

some warriors oc designs!! had these guys for a whiiiiile (over 4 years for canarystar n batear, 1 year and a half for orchidstar) but none of them got proper refs (except batear - her old ref is under the cut) until now :] canarystar and batear are the leader and deputy of ridgeclan respectively! batear is also canarystar's adopted daughter :] orchidstar runs pineclan!!

MOON 1:

A storm rages through the cliffsides crackling thunder and lighting disturbing SilentWhispers sleep, she cannot dream her way to her ancestors instead seeing flashes of hollowed stones arrupting into hot balls of flame as they grow taller and taller surrounding the area before she finally wakes up in a shiver, wondering what this means for her clan.

Whilst on patrol along the base of the weeving thunderpath that spreads up the mountain BurdockStar, BrackenStep and SalmonScales watch from a far as a twoleg drops off their kittypet and speeds away, the patrol watch as the kittypet chases after their twolegs only to be hit by another on coming monster.

Whilst on a hunting patrol with their mentor BlackberryPaw managed to catch a mouse within the rocky terrain of their territory, GustGlare isnt very impressed the mouse is small and would barely feed one of the kits but BlackberryPaw tries to be proud of his catch.

Character Highlights: Peakclaw

Peakclaw is a gray speckled tom. He was one of the Clan founders and was mate of RidgeClan’s deputy, Brindlecloud. He currently resides in the dark forest.

Peakclaw joined RidgeClan as an apprentice, though he’d insist he was practically a warrior. He was a BoulderClan apprentice and found himself in trouble there often. He would sneak out to explore the twolegplace, and while he’d never take up a kittypet mate, he found the winding streets and strange dens intriguing to explore. Brindlecloud approached him during his first gathering (he’d been prevented from going for four moons in a row). They asked him if he ever felt like he should be somewhere else. He said that he did, and Brindlecloud told him about the Clan they were trying to create. Peakclaw thought it was an ingenious idea and eagerly agreed; some of that enthusiasm was inspired by the sparking crush he had on the warrior.

Bugstar finished his training, and Peakclaw hated every moment of it. He didn’t get along with any cat in the Clan, except for Brindlecloud and that meant that he just spent all his time with Brindlecloud and didn’t pursue other relationships. If you asked most RidgeClan cats about Peakclaw, they’d say they either had never spoke to him but heard he was a real fox-heart or say that every talk they’ve had with him ending with an argument.

Perhaps it’s BoulderClan independence that caused this haughtiness that got Peakclaw in trouble. BoulderClan were known to believe they were better than the other Clans as they were better fed and could spend more time on finer arts. They often composed poems and created art on stones with berries as paints. Peakclaw was no different, though the harshness of RidgeClan territory limited the time he could spend on his art. Brindlecloud found all these things novel and interesting; Bugstar saw them as a waste of time.

Generally, Peakclaw gets along with BoulderClan refugees and Brindlecloud. Few else.

It would be many, many, many moons before he got his first apprentice, Lavenderheart. They died the day they received their warrior name, having gone with their friends to hunt in celebration and ending up buried in an avalanche. It was a hard hit to Peakclaw.

Peakclaw raised two kits with Brindlecloud, Duskcloud and Cypresswhisker, though Peakclaw ended up outliving his entire family.

The moment Brindlecloud retired, Peakclaw set forth a plan he had been making for many seasons. To Peakclaw, Bugstar deserved to suffer for how he forced Brindlecloud into a role they never wanted. However, they held off on enacting retribution until Brindlecloud was retired so that the mantle of leadership wouldn’t fall upon them. He waited for Bugstar to go on a solo hunting trip, and then, he attacked. The old tom was no match for Peakclaw; after all, Peakclaw was trained by the leader: he knew all their tricks. By the time any cat found Bugstar, the old tom was lifeless and covered in wolverine scent, disguising any other smells.

It was for killing his own leader that Peakclaw was sent to the Dark Forest. He only regrets breaking Brindlecloud’s heart and spends a lot of time by the StarClan border, hoping to see them. So far, he’s only been able to talk to them once: the first day he was sentenced.

random notes to get to know the clans

EmberClan

- territory is a thick forest on the western side of the valley

- cats spend the majority of their time in trees, like SkyClan but more extreme

- Political system: Monarchy, matriarchal line of succession

- Warrior role is split between Predators (hunters) and Claws (fighters)

- Cats will decorate themselves with various accessories (bug wings, flowers, leaves, etc) for ceremonies, holidays, according to rank, etc

- matriarchal society, female > male

- BIG focus on motherhood and raising kits, not necessarily in a "you are supposed to have kits" way, but a "That takes a lot of work and you are a cats first mentor, greatest influence, and the backbone of the clan" way

- most common threats are birds of prey or dead/falling trees

- Worship 4 deities, each related to one of 4 seasons

NightClan

- live in other half of thick forest, east part of the valley

- Political system: Theocracy (based on religion)

- Leaders are "divinely chosen" - leaders get signs telling them who their successor should be

- Very religious clan

- Leader is political lead and spiritual lead, med cats are strictly healers and have no explicit spiritual role

- Not much of a focus on bloodline - cats are all raised by the same cat and mothers leave the nursery as soon as their kits are weaned

- apprentices do not have an assigned mentor - training them is the shared responsibility of all warriors

- black cats considered beautiful, white cats considered holy

- worship ancestors and a singular god that is seen as the leader and power of starclan itself

RidgeClan

- live in the northern part of the valley, more in the mountains than the valley itself

- Live entirely underground, windclan tunneling to the extreme

- Political system: Council

- Used to have a political structure similair to canon warriors, with an undertone of the physically strongest cat being the leader, but has recently been changed due to RidgeClan's Civil War

- Dedicated roles for Mentors and Constructors - cats responsible for making sure tunnels/caverns are safe and sturdy

MistClan

- token water based clan

- live in the southern part of the valley where the river leaves the valley and all rainwater/runoff pools

- Political system: Democracy

- Leaders are voted for using a pebble system similair to the ancient cats

- All ceremonies happen at a waterfall out of camp, with the exception of burials

- dedicated mentor & mediator roles

- Prefer diplomacy and conversation over battle, would rather solve things with words

- clanblood elitists, least likely to take in outsiders
