Break it again
Tumblr media
Thomas Magnum x reader
He broke your heart once - will he do it again?
Warnings: hurt, angst, fluff, comfort, reader has a broken heart
Word count: 4.659
Authors Note: Heya! I'm watching Magnum P.I. at the moment and I really love that guy ugh... I wish I could hire him to keep me company, I swear I'd just stare at him all day long. Now I have to wait for season 5 to air in Germany...
Anyways, have fun!
"No way!" TC mumbled to himself when you entered the bar, gathering Rick's attention. "Huh?" he hummed, following his friend's line of sight.
"No way!" he repeated TC's words, when his gaze landed on you as well; eyes widening in shock.
Your eyes scanned the small crowd gathered at La Mariana, before they landed on the bar to your right.
You couldn't believe your eyes as your mouth slowly opened in disbelief. Huffing you smiled, walking towards Rick and TC.
"Y/N!" the boys said in unison, grinning at you. "Where have you been?" TC wanted to know, engulfing you in a bone crushing hug.
Still smiling you hugged him back, ignoring the ache in your heart at his question.
He didn't need to know where you have been or why you left in the first place.
Even when they most likely knew anyways.
Rick rounded the bar, before he snatched you from TC's arms to hug you as well.
They used to be your family, your best friends.
But that was three years ago.
You still loved them, though - even when you had left them without properly saying goodbye back then.
Which made you wonder why they weren't angry at you, but instead were happy to see you.
"It's been what - four years?" Rick said when he let go of you. TC's brows lifted, as he shook his head. "It's been three." he corrected him.
"Feels like an eternity." Rick gave back, shaking his head as well.
His hand landed on your shoulder and he grinned. "Damn, we've missed you." he said, shaking his head again.
Then his eyes widened and he let go of you, stepping behind the bar and gesturing around him.
"What do you say?" he wanted to know, sounding proud.
Your eyes widened and you looked at him in shock.
"Wait, the La Mariana is yours?" you asked in disbelief, as a grin stretched your lips. "Actually, it's ours." TC chimed in, chuckling to himself. "We bought it a while ago, but Rick manages everything."
"Wow." you breathed, taking a look around you. "It's beautiful!"
Rick smiled. "Thank you." he said, wiping his hands on a towel. "It's been a hell of a ride, but we're very proud of it."
You nodded, feeling excited for them.
"Want something to drink?" Rick asked, tilting his head questioningly. You contemplated for a moment. "Surprise me." you then told him smiling.
He chuckled before he went to grab a glass, as he froze in his movement, his smile suddenly gone.
He was staring at a point behind you, and as TC sighed, you turned around to see what they were seeing.
Thomas Magnum.
"Oh." you made, staring at the man who once broke your heart.
The one who drove you away three years ago.
He didn't see you at first, talking to a blonde woman who was walking beside him. She was beautiful and you felt how you became jealous of her.
No, stop it. you warned yourself. Don't.
His eyes looked up a few steps away and landed on you, causing him to stop dead in his tracks, mouth open.
You bit on the inside of your cheek, chewing at the sensitive flesh.
You should have known he would appear sooner or later - where Rick and TC were, Thomas wasn't far.
Turning back around you tried to calm your racing heart, hands sweating.
"I need that drink, now." you told Rick, pressing your lips together. "Please."
Rick nodded silently, pouring you some bourbon, before sliding the glass over to you.
Your hands gripped it shakily, before you downed the shot, grimacing at the burning sensation in your throat.
But you needed it.
Then you turned back around, plastering a fake smile on your face.
"Thomas." you greeted him, trying to conceal your feelings, keep them in check. You didn't need him to know that your heart was still in pieces.
He needed a moment to respond, shaking the shock off and offering you a hesitant smile.
"Y/N." he gave back, swallowing. "Hey."
The woman beside him watched your interaction with furrowed brows, clearly confused.
"I'm Y/N Y/L/N." you introduced yourself, holding out your hand for her to shake. "Juliett Higgins." she gave back, shaking your hand. "Nice to meet you."
Nodding you looked back at Thomas. He didn't seem comfortable, and it satisfied you somehow.
You didn't feel comfortable either, when you left because of him.
It became silent for a moment, before Thomas cleared his throat awkwardly and faced TC.
"We need your help." he told him, biting his cheek. "Our client went on a hike in the mountains and she's missing since this morning. Could you fly up there and look for her? Please?"
Your brows knitted together.
Client? That meant he was still active as a private investigator, which meant he must've been pretty successful in doing so, when they still hired him.
Was Juliett his partner then?
TC nodded, looking your way for a split second, before he cleared his throat. "Sure."
Thomas thanked him, before he faced Juliett. "I'm gonna look after Gordon's tip about her ex boyfriend." he told her, avoiding to look at you. "Okay, then I will check her bank account and GPS." she gave back, nodding.
Then she looked at you, tilting her head.
"May I ask where you're from?" she wanted to know, eyes wandering towards Thomas, before looking back at you. "I believe I haven't seen you here before."
You nodded biting your cheek. "I live here." you told her, avoiding the others questioning looks. "Just moved back. Have been gone for a while, after I couldn't stand being here any longer. Personal reasons."
Thomas inhaled sharply, and you swallowed.
You intended to bite, and so you did.
Though it seemed to hurt you as well.
Juliett nodded, seeming pleased with your answer. "Where do you know the others from?" she asked further. "They've never mentioned you."
Ouch, that hurt.
Biting on the inside of your lip you contemplated your answer.
"She's like a sister to us." TC responded for you and you sighed inwardly in relief. "We met after we moved here."
Even though you were a few years younger than them, it had instantly clicked back then.
Julietts brows furrowed, but she just nodded.
She was probably wondering why Thomas and the others never mentioned you before.
Clearing your throat awkwardly you pulled out your wallet, handing Rick some money.
"Oh, no, no." he said, pushing your hand holding the money back. "It's on the house." He sent you a smile and you returned it. "Thank you." He just nodded and put your glass away.
"Well, then..." you said, looking back at the others, your gaze eventually landing on Thomas. He was already looking at you, irritation clear on his face, as his intense stare sent shivers down your spine.
He still had that effect on you, even after not seeing him for three years.
"Was nice to meet you all." With that you walked past them, biting your lip when you heard Thomas, though. He wanted to say something, but stopped himself, before he even really voiced anything.
Your steps faltered, but you continued on, swallowing.
You needed to be as far away from him as possible on Hawaii.
The waves crashed against the stones at the beach, calming you down a little. The wind brushed through your hair and you finally felt at home again.
When you left Hawaii you instantly missed it.
The waves, the weather, the air and the beach. You missed it all, causing you to come back after three years.
Maybe you had hoped he would've been gone by now, moved to another city, but somewhere you also hoped he hadn't.
Now you weren't sure what to think at all. Or what to feel, for that matter.
Someone cleared their throat behind you, snapping you out of your thoughts as you turned around.
You wished you hadn't.
Barely holding back from rolling your eyes you turned back around, continuing to watch the waves.
"Y/N." he said, stepping beside you as he tried to gather your attention. "Can we talk?"
Huffing you shook your head.
"About what?" you asked, still not looking at him. "What could possibly be of interest for you to talk about?"
He sighed, putting his hands in his pockets. "You know what I wanna talk about, Y/N." he spoke, still looking at you.
"There's nothing to talk about, TC." you responded, already feeling bad for getting angry at him.
"I know why you left." he said. "But when you're gonna continue being angry at him, this won't work."
"Im not angry." you shot back, finally looking at him whilst crossing your arms above your chest.
"Yes you are." he returned, shaking his head. "You forget that I can read you like an open book, Y/N. He never said anything, but we know what happened. What I don't get is why you never talked to us, but instead left without a word."
Rolling your eyes you bit on your cheek, as the memory of him breaking your heart Colin Bridgerton style flooded your mind.
"Nah, never." you heard Thomas say, chuckling uneasily.
You knew it was wrong to eavesdrop, but you just couldn't help yourself. Drinks in hand you waited for them to continue around the corner.
"Why not?" Rick asked, sounding confused. "She's funny, smart and beautiful. She's all you could possibly want, Thomas. Still you don't want her. Why?"
Thomas sighed, needing a moment to answer.
"I would never date her." he then said and you felt your heart become heavy. Where they talking about you?
God, you hoped not.
"But-" TC started, but Thomas cut him off. "No, guys." he said, most likely shaking his head. "I don't love her like that. I would never date Y/N. I couldn't."
You felt the tears pricking at your eyes, blinking rapidly as you tried to push them back.
Your heart crushed, as Thomas ripped it from your chest and stomped on it.
He didn't love you - not like that.
The drinks almost slipped from your grasp, as you tried gathering yourself, before making your way back into the living room.
"He broke your heart." TC spoke, ripping you out of your thoughts. "And I get that you're angry and that you're not willing to forgive him just yet, but you have to at least try. If not for him, then for yourself."
You sniffed, wiping at your eyes in an attempt to stop the tears that threatened to spill.
"If you want to live here you will have to see him from time to time." he continued. "Especially if you want to visit us at La Mariana. I expect you to become a regular, by the way."
You chuckled through the tears, smiling a little.
"Who would pay your bills if not me?" you joked, looking at him. He chuckled, shaking his head. "That's what I'm talkin' about."
You stared at each other in silence for a second, before he hugged you. "C'mere." he said, pulling you into his arms.
Yours wrapped around his middle with your face against his shoulder.
"I meant what I said. You're like a sister to Rick and me. When you left, you broke our hearts. We just settled here and I just started Island Hoppers. I could've used some help, Y/N." he continued.
The tears spilled at his words and you did your best not to sob.
"I didn't want to go." you told him, sniffing. "But I had to. I loved him and he broke my heart. I couldn't be near him, but being with you and Rick meant that he would be there as well. It would have been inevitable so I left."
He shook his head, before he let go of you.
"Let's go back to La Mariana and get you something to drink." he suggested. "Rick's worried that you'll leave again."
Your eyes rolled playfully, head shaking. "No." you said. "I'm not going to leave you again. I will just avoid Thomas, or..." you paused, not sure about it.
"Or you'll talk to him." TC finished for you. "Yeah..." you mumbled, starting to follow him back to the street. "Something like that."
When you got back to La Mariana, Rick rushed to you and pulled you into his arms.
"Thank god." he mumbled and you chuckled at his reaction. "I thought he would have caused you to flee again."
"No, not this time." you told him, head shaking, as he let go of you. "Nor ever again. I've missed you guys and Hawaii too much and I'm not gonna let him ruin this again. I should have never left in the first place." You mumbled the last part, looking over at TC.
He smiled, bowing his head slightly.
Rick then walked you towards a table, handing you the menu. "Whatever you want, it's for free tonight." he told you, smiling down at you.
You felt the tears prick at your eyes as you nodded gratefully. "Thank you." you said, smiling back. He nodded, patting your shoulder, before he and TC went to the bar.
You looked over the menu, deciding what to eat, when someone sat down across from you.
Not looking up you sighed. "Yes, TC?" you asked, contemplating between nuggets and fish.
The person across from you cleared their throat and your heart missed a beat.
That was not TC.
Putting the menu down on the table you looked up. "What do you want, Thomas?"
He cleared his throat again, sliding uncomfortably on the bench.
"We need to talk." he finally said, avoiding eye contact. "And what should we talk about?" you wanted to know, biting your cheek as anger bubbled up. "About the fact that I left because of you, or that I should leave again? Because that's not gonna happen."
He flinched at your words and bit his lip.
"No." he then said, shaking his head with his eyes glued to the table. "No, I should start by apologizing to you."
Your eyes widened. The Thomas Magnum wanted to apologize?
When you didn't say anything he looked up, his eyes meeting yours.
"What I said was wrong." he started, swallowing. It must've been really hard for him to apologize. "I never meant to hurt you, please believe me Y/N. When Rick and TC asked about you, I-" he cut himself off, wiping across his face with his hand.
He stared down on the table again and your brows furrowed.
"I panicked." he then said, shaking his head lost in thought. "I thought that because we were so close friends, that you'd never even consider dating me. So I said the same, never even considering that you would hear me."
"But I did." you told him, huffing. "I did and it broke me. It made me leave - something I never wished to do in the first place."
You heard him swallow again, as he bit his lip, nodding. His eyes seemed to glisten - but then it could have just been the light above you.
"I know." he said, sighing deeply. "And I blame myself for it. There's not one day that I don't feel guilty for what I did to you. I never told Rick and TC, but they surely know."
You nodded, fiddling with the edge of the menu.
"They do."
Nodding he brushed over his chin. "Yeah, I figured." he almost whispered.
It was silent for a moment, as neither of you knew what to say.
"Listen, I wish I could undo what I did, but I can't. I shouldn't have said what I said... I'm sorry for what happened and I hope you can forgive me some day." he spoke, looking at you with what seemed to be hope in his eyes.
Your breathing hitched as your heart pumped faster. Did he really mean what he said?
"Truth is, that I-" he cut himself off again, and his teeth grit. He was silent for a moment, as his eyes nervously switched from one point to another, wandering through the room.
"I lied."
Your brain seemed to come to an abrupt halt.
He did what?
"What are you talking about?" you wanted to know, clearing your throat as you noticed just how dry it had become. Was he doing this on purpose?
He breathed in shakily, wiping his hands on his legs, before he suddenly seemed to lose his patience.
"I lied, Y/N." he pressed, looking back at you. "I told them that I would never date you and that I wouldn't love you like that - it was a lie!"
Your heart seemed to shatter for the second time, as his words broke it again.
Mouth agape you felt your eyes sting. Was he messing with you?
He had to, right?
"What?" you managed to breathe out, noticing how your entire body began to shake in anger and disbelief. A tear managed to spill from your eye, but you didn't care.
"Are you telling me, that you loved me and even when I went away - because of you - you didn't tell me?"
His breathing hitched and he seemed to understand just how big his mistake really was. Swallowing he looked away, eyes watering.
"You could have stopped me - could have had me - but you chose to let me go with a broken heart?" you almost yelled at him, causing Rick and TC to nervously look your way.
"Do you know just how much I suffered, because of you?" Now you were yelling at him, as you stood up, looking down at him, as some of the customers turned your way as well. "No, Thomas, you don't know. You only care about yourself - So don't tell me that you loved me! Because clearly you didn't!"
Making your way past Rick and TC, who walked over to your table, Rick tried to stop you. "Y/N-" he spoke, grabbing your arm, but you freed yourself, walking past him and out of La Mariana.
You couldn't believe him. How could he do this to you?
The tears now fell freely, as you made your way to your car. Leaning against it you slid down, sitting on the ground as you lost control over your feelings.
Crying you buried your face in your knees, sobbing and shaking.
All this time he let you believe that he didn't love you, that he would never do so. All this time you suffered because of a lie.
The realization of him loving you didn't make you happy, as you had imagined so many times before. It made you angry and even more sad, knowing that he had let you live in the dark for so long.
You didn't know what to feel, besides the emptiness that slowly overtook your whole body.
You felt numb.
The tears subsided after some time, but the pain was still there. Your heart ached so badly you were scared you would actually die of a broken heart.
You heard steps coming your way, before someone crouched down before you.
Even though it was already dawn, you could clearly see that it was Rick.
"Hey." he spoke softly, grimacing at your tear stained face.
"I wanna be alone, Rick." you told him, sniffing, but he shook his head.
"Forget it." he gave back, sitting down beside you. One of his arms wrapped around your shoulders and he pulled you towards him.
The smell of his familiar cologne calmed you down a little.
"Thomas is an idiot." he quietly said, his fingers brushing over your arm. "Only he could fuck up this badly."
A bitter chuckle made its way through your lips, as you nodded. "Yeah, that's exactly like him to fuck up." you spoke.
It was silent for a while, as you both were lost in thought.
"We tried to convince him to be honest about it." he eventually spoke up. "We were so sure about his feelings for you, but he denied them. Even when you were gone, he didn't change his opinion. If he would have been honest from the start, he could have stopped you. After you left, he wasn't himself for a couple weeks. But he was ashamed, was so sure you wouldn't talk to him, so he eventually accepted it instead of talking to you."
Shaking your head you bit your lip, to stop another wave of tears from falling.
"If he would have been honest, I would have forgiven him." you gave back, clearing your throat. "We could have been happy."
Rick contemplated for a moment, scratching his chin.
"You still can be." he then said, causing you to sit upright and stare at him in confusion.
"What do you mean?" you wanted to know, brows furrowed. "I mean that his feelings for you never changed." he gave back. "His face when you stormed out the bar proves my theory."
Shaking your head you looked away. "If anything, it's a theory." you said, not believing his words.
He sighed, turning your head back to him with two fingers.
"If I know one thing, than it's that two of my best friends - my ohana - are in love." he explained, looking you in the eye. "And this is your only chance to talk about it and get it right. To not lose that opportunity again."
You stared back at him, swallowing. If he was right, than this was your only chance.
But were you ready to forgive Thomas? Were you ready to waste another few years with a broken heart, if not?
Before you could decide, TC walked out with Thomas in tow. Swallowing you stood, Rick following you.
Rick and TC nodded towards one another, before they left you and Thomas alone.
Breathing in deeply you tried to calm yourself down.
If you were going to talk to him, you didn't need to let the entire neighborhood and customers be part of it by yelling at Thomas.
It was silent, as you stared at one another without uttering a single word. Biting your lip you decided to start if he wouldn't do it himself.
"Did you suffer?" you wanted to know, biting your cheek. He looked away for a split second, before nodding once. "Yes." he answered, swallowing. "But I believe you suffered even more than I did."
Huffing you nodded. "Yes, Thomas." you replied, crossing your arms above your chest. "I did. In fact I suffered so badly, that for three years I didn't let any man get near me out of fear that the same thing would happen that happened with you."
He swallowed again, before he took a step closer.
"Y/N - I'm so sorry for what I did to you." he apologized again, looking sincere. "I'm so sorry and I don't know what I should do to make you believe me, to make you forgive me someday."
Shaking your head you felt your eyes beginning to burn again. You were going in circles with this.
"What are we doing here?" you asked, looking away from him, suddenly feeling defeated and tired. "I mean, what are we doing? You broke my heart and now you broke it again. What makes you believe we can actually fix this?"
"Do you still love me?" he asked, instead of answering you. His question stole your breath, causing your gaze to snap back to his.
"What?" you gave back, brows furrowed.
"Do you still love me?" he repeated his question, still looking at you. He really wanted an answer to it.
Breathing heavily you stared back at him, speechless. Why did he want to know that?
"What if I do?" you finally answered, having trouble to keep up the eye contact. Your voice was smaller than before.
"Then I'll tell you, that I still love you, too." he responded, taking another step closer. "Because I do. And I want to fix this so we can finally be together."
You couldn't stop the tears anymore, as you bit your lip. Did he really want this?
"Yes, Thomas." you spoke, swallowing. "Yes, I do. But how am I supposed to forget what happened? Because I can't."
He nodded, looking away for a split second. "Then don't." he said, looking back up at you. "Don't and we'll take it as en example how not to do it. Let us prove that we're stronger than this."
Shaking your head you wiped your tears away.
"I really want to, Thomas. But... why didn't you talk to me sooner? Why didn't you tell me the truth when I left?"
Biting his cheek he wiped his face with his hand.
"I was scared." he spoke, shaking his head as well. "I really wanted to, but I was scared you wouldn't believe me. I pushed it further and further away until it was too late. And I hate myself for it, believe me. I do."
"I would have forgiven you, you know?" you told him, taking a shaky step towards him. "I really hoped things would take a turn, that you would call or something - but after a few months my hope vanished. I thought the only solution was to go, but that meant that I had to leave my ohana as well. All because of you."
He nodded, sighing shakily.
"I know." he spoke. "But I'm willing to do anything to gain back your trust - and your love. Whatever it takes."
Another wave of tears streamed down your face and he stepped forward, his fingers hesitantly brushing the tears away.
"Please tell me that you want this as much as I do." he whispered, looking you in the eyes. His pupils were dilated, making his brown eyes almost seem black.
"I do." you gave back, as his hand cupped your cheek and your head leaned towards it. "I really do."
Your heart raced, and you felt how you became warmer. Ignoring what happened and what led to this situation, you somehow felt like a teenager that just confessed to its crush.
He breathed a breath of relieve, smiling hesitantly.
Something inside you convinced you to forgive him - then and there. Forgive him for breaking your heart and stealing you three years that could have been wonderful.
And so you did.
"I forgive you." you mumbled, eying his lips that seemed so close, yet so far away.
His brows shot high, as he couldn't believe what you were saying.
"What?" he mumbled back, confusion clear on his handsome face. "I forgive you." you repeated, a small smile stretching your lips. "If we want to do this, I'll have to start by accepting your apology and forgiving you."
He blinked a few times as if trying to understand what you just said, before he started to smile.
"Oh, thank god." he mumbled, before his lips finally met yours.
Kissing him for the first time felt like a dream come true - which it was.
As you kissed him back your hands wrapped around his neck, his wandering to your hips and the back of your head.
Fireworks spread through your body, leaving goosebumps and tingles in their wake.
It felt right, as all the troubles of the past three years fell off your shoulders. As he kissed the pain away, he somehow stitched your heart back together along the way.
When your lips left his you stared each other in the eyes, breathing heavily. His pupils were blown, and so must have been yours.
"I love you, Y/N Y/L/N." he confessed, as his fingers brushed some stray hair from your face.
"I love you too, Thomas Magnum." you confessed in return, a giddy feeling making its way up to the surface.
"Let's do this together then." he spoke, smiling down at you. "Yeah." you gave back, biting your lip. "Let's do it."

Requested by Anon - Reader is a Navy Captain who helped bring the guys back home. She and Rick had a connection, but nothing ever happened. One day she shows up in Hawaii, and meet him by accident. I know it’s too long for a request, but maybe? Characters – Rick x reader, Magnum, TC, Nuzo Word Count – 724
Crossing the dirt ground you moved with your team, moving quietly you managed to take down the men surrounding the building before they realised, they had been infiltrated. You had surrounded the building and them team was communicating. ‘Go ahead.’ You told them, you watched as Finn put the charge on the door before moving out the way, you turned your head as she door popped off and you filed in, two men behind you as you crouched down in front of them, placing your gun behind you. They looked at you with squinted eyes, you reached for your torch light as the others did as well. The light shining down on them showed the skinny and tired looking men. ‘Time to get you guys home.’ You said, before standing up. You reached you hand out and the one you had known as Wright, took your hand and stood up whilst the other two were pulled up as well. You looked at you men who nodded. ‘On me.’ You said, switching off the torches and turned around, holding your gun as well. You left the building, signalling to the men that were waiting and watching as you lead the group towards the helicopter that was hidden. You stood to the side when you reached it, motioning for the men to get in, and the others moved around getting into their seats before you got into the front passenger seat. You held on as the chopper rose and the houses became smaller. ‘It’s a pleasure to have you back with us.’ You said, they looked at you and nodded. ‘It’s an hour flight out before we land at base, snacks are in the tub, make yourselves at home.’ You told them, motioning to the tub, before you leaned forward. ‘Alpha one, this is ground team one.’ You said into the mic, looking at the land that was moving fast underneath you. ‘Do you have the packages?’ The voice came through, you looked at the men again and nodded. ‘Yes we do, sir.’ You said, rolling your shoulders. ‘Well done Captain.’ You nodded, as the boys looked at each other before taking a bite of the sandwich.
- - -
‘Watch it.’ You said, the man bumping into you. You let out a scoff as he turned and apologised looking at you, you recognised him, but you shook your head as you turned back. ‘Captain Y/L/N.’ The man said, you turned to him and raised an eyebrow. ‘Yes, how can I help you?’ You asked, he stood tall in front of you. ‘I’m Rick Wright. You saved me and my team.’ He told you, your eyes narrowed before you smiled and nodded. ‘Yeah.’ You said, he was healthier now and had bulked up. ‘How are you doing?’ You asked him, he scoffed before reaching up and rubbing the back of his neck. ‘Better than I was then.’ He replied, you nodded. ‘What brings you to Hawaii?’ He asked you, you shrugged your shoulders. ‘Decided that I wanted to see the world as a tourist and not a Navy Captain.’ You told him, he nodded. ‘You on a break then?’ Rick asked you, you shook your head. ‘No, finished up my service just a little over a year ago.’ You told him, as you moved aside from a pedestrian that was walking past you. ‘Are you doing anything just now?’ he asked you, you shook your head. ‘No.’ You told him. ‘Why don’t you come to my bar then?’ He offered, your eyes widened. ‘You own a bar?’ You asked shocked, he smiled widely. ‘Yeah, the team and I all retired here.’ He said. ‘Everyone’s here?’ You asked, he nodded. ‘Yeah, I own a bar, Magnum is a private investigator, TC owns a tour company and Nuzo has family.’ He told you, you smiled widely glad that they were all living their lives with each other. ‘Wait, you guys are the base for Robin Masters books, aren’t you?’ You asked him, his face dropped before nodding. ‘You’re a fan?’ He asked you, you shrugged your shoulders. ‘I’ve read some of them.’ You told him, you had both started walking as you continued the conversation, as you asked him where you were in the books and how they had been coping and where you had visited so far.

ship: Rick Wright (Pink Floyd) X fem!OC
warnings: drug references
summary: In the winter before the Summer of Love, Rick meets a young woman at one of his gigs.
word count: 3629
a/n: This is an adaptation of a story I wrote 4-5 years ago, and I have done a fair amount of re-working to make it more readable and to remove some of the pick-me energy that was pretty prevalent in my old stories. If you happen to read this and recognize the plot from way back when I first published this; hello! Please do reach out if you remember my work, I'd love to reconnect with the community again.
Tumblr media
It was New Year's Eve, 1966, and I could smell a change in the air. I could tell that the dawn of ‘67 would bring revolution to the history of young people everywhere, but not even a new era of mankind could shake off my nerves. I was supposed to be meeting a girlfriend for a shindig at some underground club in celebration, but she had cancelled our plans at the last minute and I didn’t like the idea of being carted off somewhere to be murdered. That being said, it was the biggest night of the year and I was hardly going to let a little imminent danger stop me. So I armed myself with a little kitchen knife, a can of toilet refresher spray, a lighter, and a bottle of champers. One last time, I looked myself over in the mirror. I had donned a little white tassel dress with bell sleeves that fell just above my knees, over which I wore a lichen green Afghan coat to stave off the English weather. I had even done my eyes like Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra with golden lids and black swirling wings, and spritzed myself with Belle De Rauche. I felt sexy, but I knew that feeling sexy and being sexy were two entirely different breeds of cat. With one last tousle of my hair, I headed out.
After walking a while I noticed flurries of soft snow filling the air. It fell down like floating pearls to leave little burning tingles on my nose and cheeks. I fluttered my eyelashes as the snow weighed them down and giggled. All through the street people were stumbling around grinning, their eyes locked on the sky. I had seen a panorama of different people in this part of Cambridge, but one thing that united us all was a universal love of snow. Outside the UFO Club I noticed a line of people in all kinds of fancy dress were huddled together beneath the eaves of a building. I cursed under my breath and pulled my coat closer around myself, ready to turn around and go home when I heard a familiar voice call out to me.
“Jenny!” It was my cousin Rodney Maudsley standing right at the front of the line. His auburn hair was a splat of blood on the snowy street.
“Hi Rod!” Grinning, I hurried over and flung myself on him. “Fancy seeing you here!”
“Where else would I be?” He cackled, tossing an arm around me. “Look, Adam, this is me cousin, Jenny. Cute huh?”
A tall man with short, black hair was standing by the door. He had a grey woolen blanket bundled around his body to keep himself warm and a little paper name tag around his neck.
"Indeed she is. Rodney." He grinned eerily as he greeted me in a cockney accent. "It’s wonderful to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too, mate.” I smiled, grateful to have a clear voice for once.
“Orright, in yous go.” Adam ushered us inside. “Don’t want you to freeze now do we?”
“Many thanks, mate, many thanks." Rodney winked and sauntered inside, causing a small uproar in the waiting line.
The UFO Club was a miasma of alcohol, cigarettes, and a mingle of a hundred perfumes. Strange wailing sounds emanated from the far end of the room, catching me in a cobweb of curiosity. The noises did not sound organic, so I could only assume it must be a kind of music.
"So how do you know the bouncer?”
“Oh, friend of a friend..." Rodney responded, slipping his arm off my shoulder. "Y’know. You meet people, you like ‘em. In- a- anyway. Have a good one."
With the smell of Eau Sauvage lingering in the air, he was gone. I peered through the gathering crowd at the bar that had been set up at the end of the long shed, and decided not to follow him, as much as I wanted to. Instead I decided to stick to the wall and make my way towards the stage at the far end of the hall. I slipped into the shadows by the wall, dodging a mob of speed freaks who were debating Whitman so hotly that I wondered if a physical fight might break out. It was quite easy to get to the stage, as I was very petite and could easily sneak through the dim concert hall. I soon found myself in a little nook a few feet from the side of the speaker where I could see the whole stage from end to end.
Four men were littered over the stage, two standing with guitars, another sitting at a drum kit behind them, and at the far side was a man sitting at a keyboard, his face obscured behind a fall of mousy hair. I let my attention sit on each of them individually, allowing them each the opportunity to enchant me. Firstly, I looked at the bassist; he must have been very tall, since he awkwardly stooped over his instrument. He ran random objects such as bolts, washers, and screws over the strings of his bass, each one creating a unique noise effect.
The lead guitarist was painfully cute. His hair was a mass of black curls which trembled with every movement and I could see his face lit up with excitement at every pleasing sound his guitar produced. His whole body shook as he bent the sounds coming from his guitar into strange, wobbling frequencies using quick finger movements and occasional movings of the tuning knobs on the neck. It was a strain to pull my eyes away from him to look at the drummer who tapped at the drums in a seemingly experimental manner, almost as though he had never played them before. I soon looked back at the guitarist and watched him plucking at the strings for a while with a dreamy smile on my lips, but soon remembered that there was one last man I had not observed.
Regretfully, I looked away from the lovely guitarist and made my way to the far side of the stage, sticking close to it so as to avoid any dancers. I found a decent spot to stand, and looked up at the keyboardist who was sitting only about six or seven feet away. Just a moment ago I had thought that the guitarist was the most attractive man on the planet, but I was soon proved to be sorely mistaken. That little keyboardist who hid behind his hair was like heaven on earth: shy as a pixie and dainty to boot. He frowned down at his hands while he played, carving little furrows in his brow. In that moment I would have given my right arm for the privilege of knowing what was going on behind his eyes. I felt my heart start to thud as the song came to an end.
"That was Interstellar Overdrive." The guitarist mumbled into the microphone. "Next we're going to hand over to our keyboardist, Rick, for one of his songs."
"Er, yes, um..." Rick stammered in a voice like a wind chime. "This is called Remember A Day."
The music kicked in with a bluesy bass line, arpeggios on the keyboard, and a groovy, off-beat drum line. The guitar swooped from low to high like a police siren. I found myself beginning to sway gently to the music.
"Remember a day before today,” Rick's singing voice was gentle and ambient. It was similar to the voice of the guitarist, only it had a unique dreamy quality. "A day when you were young, free to play with time... evening never comes..."
His eyes roamed around the room as he sang.
"Sing a song that can't be sung without the morning's kiss..." It was that very moment that our eyes met. I could feel my cheeks growing hot as his attention lingered on my face. A small smile grew on his lips before he sang the next line. "Queen you shall be if you wish. Look for your king."
My face became a garden of blush. I looked away, feeling a foolish flutter in my stomach. When I found the strength to lift my head, he was looking back at his hands. I wasn’t sure if I should be disappointed or relieved. The song continued for a while, and it seemed as if he was purposely avoiding my eyes, so I slipped away into the shadows by the side of the stage. I could see no point in putting him off his playing by lingering.
"Alright, it's half-past ten," The bassist announced as the song came to a close. "And we'd all like to go and watch the fireworks, and I'm sure you all would too. So, have a good night everyone, and don't hesitate to come and say hello if you liked the show."
Nobody seemed to be listening to him as he spoke, just as nobody had seemed to be truly listening to the music. All of the bodies in the hall started to syphon out of the room before he had even finished speaking. With those words, all four of the performers shuffled off the stage and out of an exit door that I could see in the wing. I sighed regretfully as I watched the back of Rick's white frilly shirt disappear through the door. I stayed in my nook for a few minutes with my eyes fixed on the door, wishing with all my might that it would open again to reveal the gorgeous young keyboardist with a smile on his lips and love in his heart. Eventually I gave up and made my way to the visitors exit, which was clear of people by then. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned with a hopeful smile, but was disappointed when it was the drummer who greeted me. I hoped it didn’t show.
"Are you the girl with the Afghan coat?" He inquired, folding his arms.
"Erm..." I frowned. "Well, yes, I am wearing one, but lots of people do. I don’t think I’m who you’re looking for."
It was a bold-faced lie on my part, that keyboard boy had to be looking for me. I couldn’t tell you why exactly, but my confidence crumbled at the thought of talking to him.
"Oh no, I don't think so." He smiled. "You fit the description perfectly. Listen, my friend, Rick the keyboardist, he wanted to talk to you, but he has an awful chip on his shoulder about girls."
"What?" I was really in for it now. "A chip- look. I'm really, truly sorry if I distracted him. I don’t usually stare like-"
"No, no!" He shook his head, giggling goofily. "He's not angry, not at all. Listen, he told me not to tell you this, but he said that you're the most beautiful girl he's ever seen."
"If this is a joke, it's not funny!"
"I'm not joking!" He exclaimed. "I promise. He'll even tell you himself. Please, just don’t run off. If I don't get you to see him, I'll never see the end of it."
“Surely he’s exaggerating?”
“No, no.” He beamed. “Rick’s plenty of things, girl, but he’s not a liar.”
“God…” I buried my face in my hands, my cheeks burning. “I hope you aren't playing with me."
"I'm not." He took me by the arm. "Just come here for a sec.”
He led me around behind the speakers and up a few steps onto the stage. We picked our way over the snaking auxiliary cords and various instrument stands to the far side of the stage where we came to the exit door. I stopped short, suddenly apprehensive. What if everything was not as it seemed?
"Now, you just wait here," The drum boy smiled sympathetically. “And don’t worry. Oh, and my name’s Nick, just by the by.”
"Jenny." We shook hands.
“It’s good to meet you, Jenny.”
“Alright.” He laughed. “Just stay here, yeah?”
I nodded as Nick disappeared through the door, leaving a trickle of cold air behind him. I caught the door before it fully closed and peered through the crack into the ally beyond. My Rick had his back facing me, and the other two stood around him. The bassist leaned against the back wall smoking a fag, and the guitarist fought a losing battle to spray him with what I assumed was perfume.
"Syd, stop it." Rick snapped. "I smell fine."
Syd muttered something unintelligible and backed off. Nick cleared his throat and Rick spun around on his heel, almost tripping over. My heart gave a little squeeze.
“Oh.” He breathed. “You didn’t find her?”
Gently, I closed the door. I sat down on a stool near the mic stand and fought to find a breath that I didn’t know was missing. I closed my eyes and buried a hand in my hair. He was so cute it was like a knife in my guts.
"Hello..." Rick’s voice was so soft that I almost thought I had imagined it. I must have jumped in my seat because he laughed a little. “Did I scare you?”
“Just a little." I responded, letting out a breath.
"I'm Rick." He padded over the wires and stuck his hand out.
"Jenny."
I placed my hand in his and waited for him to shake it, but instead he took my hand and pressed it to his lips. I felt as if there was a bird struggling to burst out of my chest.
"Enchanté." Before he had the chance to say anything more, soft little noise came from the open door. The bassist peeped through the doorway with an equine gawp across his face. Rick chuckled awkwardly and itched the back of his neck. "Do you perhaps want to go for a walk?"
I nodded, and we made our way out into the open street. People milled around, kicking snow and laughing. I felt the familiar magic that comes with shared happiness.
"So erm..." Rick mumbled. "Won't you tell me about yourself?"
"Well I'm not very interesting, y'know." I clawed for something to say. "I'm twenty-two years old, I love the Beatles just like everybody else... um, I'm a Scorpio if you happen to be interested in that kind of thing. I like to write poetry and go out to clubs... like I said, there's nothing interesting to know."
"Well, you sound very interesting to me. I like poetry too. What kind of things do you write about?”
"Just things that I see that make me think about life… the rhythm of samsara and all that. For example I'll write a little something about the snow when I go home tonight... and perhaps a few words about my new friend Rick."
"I'm going to write a song about tonight, for sure." Rick smiled at the floor. "It's far too beautiful not to capture. I feel so lucky to be walking around in this lovely new snow with a gorgeous girl like yourself."
"Don’t be like that." I laughed and gave him a friendly punch on the arm. "If anybody's gorgeous here, it’s gotta be you!"
"Shh!" Rick smiled. "If you keep up like that your nose'll grow."
“Don’t talk bad about yourself.” I stopped walking and looked into his eyes. “You’re lovely.”
“I’ll stop if you stop.” Roses bloomed on his cheeks.
Time breezed by, and an hour of conversation and a bottle of champers later, I felt as if I had known Rick for years.
"You remind me of somebody, Rick. Like a character in a story, but I don't remember who."
"You remind me of someone too. Perhaps... Cathy and Heathcliffe?"
"Oh!" I giggled. "So you're going to run off on me and I'll end up wasting away in bed?"
"You won't waste away. Not if you can catch me!" With that, Rick took off running in his Sunday best.
For a moment I stood gaping like a codfish, then shook off the shock and pelted down the street after him. Laughs burst like champagne bubbles between us, and our feet pummelled a rhythm as we ran through the neighbourhood. The bystreets grew deserted as we ventured into the built up part of town, though a few daring people sat on top of their roofs to watch the fireworks. I slowed to look up at the couples, families, and groups of friends, all huddled together. Something in me ached. Rick slowed to a jog.
"Come on slow poke! Come and catch Heathcliffe!"
"I can't!" I called back with an empty grin.
Rick sighed and jogged over to me, coming to rest so close that I could feel the heat radiating from him. Our breaths billow in white clouds, mingling like twin souls.
“Is something the matter?”
I shook my head, my loneliness melting away. An impish grin grew on his face, and swiftly he bent his knees and lifted me off of the ground by the waist. I squealed and clutched his shoulders, not so much afraid of falling, but afraid of the moment ending. An unexplainable magic crystalised in his silver-grey eyes and I was so stricken with it that I almost kissed him. Instead, he just placed me back on the floor. He wordlessly took my hand and pulled me away from the footpath and through a gate. I realised we had run all the way to the local park. Rick looked at his watch.
"Seven minutes until midnight." He grinned. "Come on!"
I followed him down the gravel path that ran through the park, watching all the trees glittering white in the snowfall. In the very middle of the park there stood a chestnut tree with a platform and canopy made of wood planks nestled up in its huge branches.
"Can you climb?" Rick inquired as we stood beneath the bough.
I did not respond, only ran up to the tree and clumsily pulled myself up into the branches. I clambered up the tree and onto the platform, which was quite a bit smaller than I remembered from my childhood, and huffed in embarrassment. Rick looked up at me and laughed, then climbed up to join me. I offered him my hand to pull him up, but he refused and managed on his own. The tiny seat forced us to press together, and I relished the warmth of him beside me. We sat in silence for a moment, while I ruminated upon what Nick had told me.
"You didn't have to lie to Nick, y'know." I muttered. "I'm sure he would have come to find me anyway."
"What do you mean?" His blessed brow furrowed at my statement.
"Well, he said that you thought I was the most beautiful girl in the world..."
"That bloody bastard!" Rick slapped his thigh in annoyance. "I told him not to say!"
"I think he was just being cheeky. Besides, I was afraid you were angry with me, so I think he told me to stop me from bolting."
"Why would I be angry with you?"
"Well, I thought I distracted you from your playing. I didn't mean to. I just couldn’t help but stare at you."
Rick blushed lightly and avoided my eyes, smiling to himself. There was conflict on his face for a moment, as though there were two ideas warring in his mind.
"I wasn't lying, y'know..." He mumbled, still refusing to look at me. "You really are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."
"Thank you, but surely I’m not the most beautiful.”
"No, no, no, you are!" He looked at me finally, visibly distressed. "I've seen plenty of pretty girls, but there's never been one that's quite as lovely as you. I don't know, there's just something about you that I can't put my finger on. You're just bewitching."
"To tell you the truth, I'm thinking something very similar about you. You look like an angel."
I looked up into his eyes, like silver coins shining in the weak light of the moon. Snow flurries had caught themselves up in his soft locks, and I suppressed the urge to comb them away with my fingers, settling on simply brushing the powder off his shoulder. Rick's cheeks and nose were flushed with fervor and I knew I must look the same. Words were rising in my throat like some unstoppable force. Words that I knew I would regret.
"Rick, do you believe in love and first sight?"
"Well, I never used to..."
"Did something change your mind?"
Rick just nodded and leaned in ever so slightly. His gaze was fixed on a point below my eyes.
"How long 'till midnight?"
Rick broke concentration to look at his watch. "One minute."
I gave away to my urge and tangled my hands up in his hair, watching as the snow fell away. Rick's hands lurked on the back of my neck, thumbs stroking gently at my skin. He leaned in and our lips almost touched, but I ducked away.
"How long now?"
"Fifteen seconds." Rick whispered. "Fourteen, thirteen, twelve, eleven..."
"Ten," I joined the counting. "Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one."
I took Rick by the chin and pressed my lips gently against his. For one dreadful moment his body tensed and I thought he was going to break away from me, but then he melted into the kiss. His hands found my waist, and mine rested behind his neck, lips moving together in a wordless incantation. The champagne on his lips tasted of starlight, and my head swam with patchouli and tobacco.
"Happy New Year." Rick whispered.
"Happy New Year." I returned and leaned in for another moment of bliss.

Swing of Things
When Magnums ex comes back to the island, along comes another person from his past that he and his team thought had been killed. Characters – Magnum x Reader, TC, Rick, Higgins, Hannah. Word Count – 1369
‘Can I help you?’ A British accent came through the intercom. ‘Does Thomas Magnum live here?’ You asked her, grinding your teeth together as you leaned against the wall. ‘Yes, but he’s out at the moment.’ She informed you and you let out small groan. ‘Can I take a message?’ She asked, you let out a deep sigh. ‘Do you think I could come in and wait for him?’ You asked, blinking furiously trying to get rid of the black dots. Your hand slipped from the intercom and you collapsed into the wall, falling to the ground.
‘You need to go to a hospital.’ A blonde British woman said, you assumed she was the voice behind the intercom. ‘No, I can’t.’ You said suddenly, wincing at the pain, she looked at you as if you were crazy. ‘She’ll find me.’ You told her, she looked at you worried before wrapping your arm over her shoulders before pulling you up. You let out a small cry of pain but once you were up you started walking towards the large house. ‘May I ask how you know Thomas?’ She asked, as you continued to walk up the long path. ‘Old friends from the force.’ You said, then I clicked in her head, since Thomas and the team had described you. ‘Your Y/N.’ She said, you hissed a bit but nodded. ‘Take it he talks about me?’ You asked, she scoffed before answering. ‘Now and then.’ She said, you smiled at him before tripping over your feet.
‘Higgins?’ Magnum shouted through the house, he stopped in his tracks when he saw her standing there, playing with her hands. She looked up with worry etched on her face. ‘You have someone waiting for you.’ She told him. ‘Who?’ He questioned, her eyes flickered to the doors before she swallowed. ‘You might want to call Rick and TC.’ She said, he furrowed his brows before walking past her into the room, he ‘Y/N.’ He asked, you looked at him and tried to move but the pain spread through your side and he was quickly over by your side. ‘I’ll call the others.’ Higgins said, before leaving the pair of you.
‘What was so urg-‘ They trailed off when they saw you leaning against the counter. They crossed the room quickly and wrapped you in a hug, squeezing you tightly, you ignored the sharp pain in your side. ‘Will you be careful, she’s hurt.’ Higgins said as she back into the room. ‘How’d you get out?’ TC asked confused, as they stepped away from you. ‘Someone released me.’ You informed them, Higgins hands you the shirt and you nodded at her. ‘Who?’ Rick asked, your eyes flickered to Thomas and the two men knew the answer. ‘Hannah?’ TC asked, you nodded your head. Thomas stiffened beside you. ‘Said she needed a distraction for you when she done something.’ You told them, and they all looked confused. ‘Anyway, I’m gonna go change.’ You said, motioning with the shirt, they nodded as you walked away from them, following Higgins to another room.
‘Hannah did this to you.’ Magnum said, the shirt you had been given should off all the torture scars you had received in your time locked up. You looked over your shoulder at him as he walked over to you. ‘Magnum.’ You warned him; he shook his head. ‘No she did.’ He said, you shook your head slightly looking away from him. ‘Okay, whatever can we just put this behind us?’ You said, just wanting to leave it behind, you were out now, and you weren’t going back. ‘No because we got out you never.’ He said, annoyed at himself that he didn’t try harder. ‘Exactly, you four got out.’ You pointed out, he shook his head sighing. ‘Come on let’s face it, I was expandable.’ You told him, and his head snapped around to you. ‘Y/N.’ He warned you. ‘Don’t lie.’ You tilted your head to the side, smiling lightly. ‘You weren’t expandable to the team.’ He said, you smiled wider at him before turning back to the ocean. Where do you think we’d been if it hadn’t happened?’ He asked, placing his hands on the wall. ‘You’d be married to Hannah.’ You said, you knew that deep down he would have been in with her for a long time. ‘You really think so?’ He asked shocked. ‘Oh yeah, you worshipped the ground she walked on.’ You pointed out and he scoffed trying to dismiss it. ‘I think you’d have two kids, maybe three.’ You said, turning and giving him small smile. ‘Rick well.’ You said raising a hand. ‘He’d need to find someone to put up with his craziness.’ Magnum stated, you nodded as you smiled wide. ‘Does he still dance when he makes sandwiches?’ You asked, Magnum scoffed and nodded. ‘And sings ridiculously off tune.’ Magnum said, you let out a loud laugh. ‘Oh god not much has changed.’ You said, glad that your problem hadn’t affected them. ‘TC, well I actually think he’d still have the tour business.’ You said. ‘You do?’ He asked shocked, you nodded and smiled at him slightly.
‘So what went on between they two?’ Higgins motioned as they watched you talk to each other. ‘They were the best of friends.’ TC said, she turned to them. ‘I thought you were best friends.’ Higgins asked, motioning between the two of them and Thomas, but they quickly shook their heads. ‘Oh no, they were creepy. Also knew what the other was thinking.’ Rick said, a shiver running down his spine. ‘We thought they were going to get together.’ He explained. ‘They never?’ She asked shocked, they shook their heads. ‘Nope, he started dating Hannah.’ TC informed her and she frowned.
‘Y/N?’ Thomas asked, but there was no answer. They all shared a look before they walked further in, searching the large house for any sign off you, the thing that was left behind was a hand-written note on the kitchen counter. Thomas picked it up before and read it, before handing it over to Rick. ‘She’s been taken.’ He said confidentially, Rick took his turn to look over the letter. ‘How’d you know?’ TC asked as Rick handed him the letter. ‘When has she ever called you Theodore?’ Thomas asked, TC nodded. ‘Only when I’m in trouble.’ He said, they all nodded as footsteps made them look up. ‘This was on her pillow.’ Higgins said, they turned and looked at the necklace you had been wearing. ‘What is it?’ Rick questioned, Higgins played with it until it halved and revealed a USB drive, she quickly made her way over to her laptop before plugging it in as the men followed behind her. ‘What is it?’ Rick questioned. ‘A location.’ Higgins said as the digits came up on the screen.
‘Please.’ You whined, feeling the sensation of tears building up. ‘No please.’ You begged her, moving around on your knees. The bigger bits of dirt digging into the skin, piercing them. ‘You always were weak.’ She said, you let the tears run down your cheek, letting it clean away the dirt. ‘Stand up.’ She said, placing the gun under your chin and kept it there until you were standing up facing her. You kicked your leg up and it connected with her knee, her leg went the wrong way and she collapsed onto the ground. You quickly grabbed the gun pointing it at her. ‘You bitch.’ She hissed out as she tried to get up, but only moved to her knees when you clicked the safety off. ‘Yeah, well you trapped me in a cage for years’. You informed her, her eyes narrowing. ‘It’s only fair.’ You said before bringing the butt of the gun down, connecting with her head. You sighed when she dropped to the ground unconscious but breathing. ‘You’re late.’ You said when the door swung open and the trio of boys walked in, with Higgins following close behind. When they saw you, unharmed and Hannah’s, motionless body next to you, they holstered their weapons. ‘Took a little while to get back into the swing of things.’ He said, you smiled tiredly at him.

Forger
Your old friend, Rick, calls you in to help with a case, when it turns bad, and you and Magnum are taken by the culprit. A/N – I did a lot of research and found out some interesting facts. Characters – Rick, Reader, Magnum, Higgins, TC. Word Count – 1363
'Rick.' You said, he turned around and smile before walking over and enveloping you in a tight hug. 'Y/N.' He said, pulling back. He turned to the two handsome men and a beautiful woman who were standing watching the pair of you. 'I want you to meet Higgins, TC and Magnum.' He introduced them to you, you nodded and smiled. 'Nice to meet you.' You said to each other, before you turned back to Rick. 'So, what do you need help with?' You asked, Rick motioned to Magnum. 'How quickly can you identify a fake?' He asked you, you shrugged your shoulders. 'How long do I have?' You asked him back. 'Not long.' He said looking at his watch. 'Do you have the item?' You asked, Higgins reached forward and handed you a tube, popping the end of you pulled it out and slide the painting out. As you opened it your jaw dropped. You couldn’t believe what you were seeing in front of you. 'What?' Magnum asked as you ran your fingers over the painting, feeling the bumps of paint. 'On March the eighteenth, nineteen ninety the biggest art theft happened.' You said as you flipped it over and looked at the stamp on the back. 'They stole thirteen pieces, that was worth five hundred million dollars.' You then turned it back over and looked at the signature. 'This is the Vermeer's The Concert, worth two million dollars.' You informed them, only Higgins realised what they had gotten a hold of. 'That was, is, worth the most.' Higgins said, you nodded as you looked back down at the painting. 'Are you saying the person who hired you, is the burglar?' TC said, turning Magnum. 'We can’t give this to the person.' You said, motioning to the picture. 'Why not, there paying us.' Magnum said, Higgins hit him on the shoulder. 'They stole it from Boston twenty-nine years ago and the owner Isabelle passed away looking for it.' You informed them, you had always been a big geek when it came to paintings. 'Well who can we give it to? Does she have children?' Rick asked. 'No.' Higgins said behind them all, everyone looked up and noticed she was on her laptop. 'We can return it to the museum.' You told them. ‘What about the people that want it?’ Magnum questioned. 'But what about giving them a fake?' Rick asked looking at you, you shrugged your shoulders. 'What fake, we can’t exactly just produce one.' TC stated. 'Actually if you get me acrylic paint, lemon juice, and a potato.'  You told them, they looked at you confused. 'What colours?' Rick asked breaking them out of the confused thoughts. 'Red, blue, green, yellow, brown black and white.' You listed them off, he nodded.
'This isn't the painting.' The small, heavy set man stated as he examined the picture. 'Excuse you.' You asked. 'Do you have the authentication sheets?' He asked you, you rolled your eyes. 'Why would I have them if the person I got it from stole it.' Magnum asked, he turned away and suddenly the guns were pointed at you. You raised your hands before lowering yourself to your knees.  ‘We just want the real painting.’ He said, bending down looking at you. ‘That’s the one we found.’ You told him. ‘Then why does it smell like lemon?’ He asked, you didn’t react, but you knew it was done too quickly. ‘We used it to clean it.’ Magnum said, you clenched your jaw and shook your head. ‘Anyone would know that lemon degrades the paint.’ The man said, magnum winced slightly before something dull hit your heads and you fell forward, everything going into darkness.
‘Hey, you okay?’ Magnum asked, as he nudged your side. you groaned and rolled onto your side before moving until you were on your knees. ‘Yup.’ You replied, your head suddenly pounding. ‘How are we going to get out of here?’ Magnum said to himself, you sighed and moved your fingers, still feeling your ring on it. You let out a sigh of relief. 'Can you reach my ring?' You asked him, he looked at you confused. 'Can you?' You asked turning around so your back was to him. He looked down at your tied hands. 'Yeah.' He said, you nodded before you felt his fingers wriggling around your fingers. When they disappeared, you turned around as he held up the sliver ring. 'Put your finger in it and twist.' he did as you told him, he looked at it as the small saw came out. 'Where'd you get this?' He asked, as he started working on cutting his rope. 'I made it.' You said, as the roped fell from his wrists, you held your wrists out and he started cutting yours as well. When you dropped the ropes you took the ring back before sliding it back on your finger. 'So how'd you meet Rick?' Magnum asked you, you scoffed at the thought. 'He dated my sister, we were in the same business.' You said, frowning slightly. 'Same business?' he asked, you nodded waking around the room. 'We might have been forgers.' You told him, you stood behind the door, wrapping the rope around your fists. Leaving enough excess between your hands. Magnum caught onto what you were doing and crouched back down onto his knees. 'Shout for help.' You told him, he nodded. ‘Help, help. There’s so much blood.’ Magnum shouted, you listened as you heard footsteps come quickly, they unlocked the door before stepping in, looking around for evidence of blood, but there was none. Just as he was about to turn around you wrapped the rope around his neck, pulling tight as he struggled you pulled tighter. He struggled grasping at the material before he slowly got heavier. 'Night night.' You said, lowering him to the ground, you stood up dropping the rope to the ground. 'Are you sure it was just forgery?' He asked you, you shrugged before he picked the gun up and you made your way through the halls, luckily not getting caught.
'Did you see the news? Rick asked, you nodded. An anonymous person had returned the long-lost painting back to its rightful place. He looked at you with a raised eyebrow, you shrugged at him. ‘What?’ You asked him, he shook his head. ‘I’m just glad you done the right thing.’ He told you, you placed a hand on your chest looking offended. ‘Did you seriously think I was going to steal it?’ you asked him, he shrugged and looked behind you, smiling slightly and nodding at the person that was behind you.
When he walked away Magnum took his place. You smiled at him as he held a beer out for you and you nodded slowly, accepting the beer. Taking a sip of the cool liquid, you let out a small sigh. ‘You good?’ You asked him, looking at the purple mark that was above his eyebrow. He nodded and rested his back against the small wall. 'You said that your sister was in the same business.' Magnum said, you looked away from the sunset. 'We had a disagreement one morning, then four hours later her body was found.' You told him 'She had been murdered?’ He asked, you nodded taking another sip of the beer. 'Do you know who done it?' He quizzed you, you couldn’t help the smirk that took over. 'Oh yeah.' You said, rising a swig. 'When I was done with him, there was more blood on the ground than in him.' You told him truthfully, no point in hiding anything, he could easily find it with a simple search. He didn’t seem shocked or affected by it. 'When are you heading back to the mainland?' He asked, you turned to face him. 'Actually, I'm staying here for a while.' You announced. 'Got a lot of places to see.' You explained, as he looked at you. 'Maybe I could show you around some places?' Magnum offered, you placed the beer bottle down and nodded. 'I'd like that.' You told him truthfully, he smiled before you both took a sip of your warming beers.
