Magnus Chase and the ship of the dead
Can I just say how much I loved this trilogy? Honestly of all the Rjordan book series.. The Kane Chronicles, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus...Trials of Apollo.. THIS is my favorite series. It’s not because of the Norse Mythology, In fact I enjoy the Greek Mythology much more, but it’s the characters. I simply cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading about Hearth, Blitz, Magnus, Sam, Alex, TJ; Mack and Halfborn. They’re just this perfect little family and I fell in love with all of them. Seriously, if you have not read this series, do it now, because I promise you, there won’t be any regrets. It’s funny and exciting and sometimes sad and heartbreaking and I swear, if I could, I would hug them all, because they could really use a hug now and then.
Don’t continue reading now, unless you are not prepared for one small tiny minor spoiler.
So I can’t just tell you about the every word that is written in this book, because to be honest, in order to describe everything, that made me like it just as much as the ones before, I would have to do that.. so here are only three simple reasons, why you should read this book too:
The yellow ship. You gotta love the banana ship. Every journey to save the world from the Norse apocalypse should start with a yellow ship, that brings every person you encounter to immediately hate you on sight! It’s a requirement. Dare I say more, than quote from the book for you here: “With a ship that colour, we figured they deserved to drown!” Read the book for the most yellow boat to ever sail across the nine realms.
Character backstory. We come to know so much more about all of our favorite floor mates during the journey on the banana boat. There is more background to Mallory Keen, Halfborn and Alex and TJ and Gods! I just love them more because I know them better. Read the book to fall even more in love with our them.
I love hate to say this, but the third reason are my ships.. (No not the yellow boat again, also not the creepy ship of the dead.. I mean the fun kind of ship you obsess over because these people are a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. and come on, they’re clearly soulmates) These are just my favorite and most loved ships: Sam and Amir (those two are so sweet, I feel my teeth rotting from thinking about them and they’re also CANON :D [I’m sorry for my excitement there, but canon ships rarely cross my way] ) and then there are so many small Fierrochase-moments in this book (yes, there was someone out there who - thank the gods for that - found a better ship name than I) that I just want to scream my happiness out in the world. Also (don’tyou dare think I forgot them) Blitzstone. Am I able to tell you anything, you don’t already know about those two? They’re obviously the cutest and just about any interaction between them makes me smile for the rest of the day. So read the book for all your favorite ships, because come one I don’t believe anyone out there, who read the first two books, that they aren’t shipping anyone.
