F’murr died today and it’s breaking my heart a little.
F’murr (Richard Peyzaret) was a french comic book author. His work was published in the newspaper Pilote. He wrote and draw at least twenty books, but his most well known series was, by far, Le Génie des Alpages (The Alps Genius)
(source)
Le GĂ©nie des Alpages is a comic book about a shepherd, his dog, and his flock of sheeps. A very weird dog and a very, very weird flock of ewes.
(source)
This is a perfectly normal ewe. Other ewes include Einstein the physicist ewe, Romuald the megalomaniac leading ram, several names ending in -ule (Infractule, Renoncule, Fistule, ...) which were all said when a man wanted to be introduced to the whole flock...
(source)
.... yes. Ewes attacking tourists and robbing them, clan wars, several discussions about books and litterary subject, a lost lion looking for his “petit liré”, an equally lost sphinx, a bagpipes-playing ewe, a crazy cable car, and several ugly sweaters.
(source)
And giant dogs. Obviously.
F’murr was famous for his strange, almost post-modern humor, often bordering on absurd, on weird puns, or on litterary references (and is sadly almost not translatable).
(source)
This strange comic helped shape my own sense of humor, and I really, really love it. And I’m really, really sad that F’murr left us.
#upthebaguette#f'murr#that man was a very good author#I love his comics#it's so weird and fun#I'm so sad :(
