Happy Birthday Scottish actress  Joanna Vanderham, who was born on 17th October 1990.
Born Joanna Rosie-Le Van Der Ham in Perth and brought up in nearby Scone. Her father Tom, a businessman, and mother, Jill Belch, a professor of cardiovascular research at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, her parents split up when she was eleven, Joanna has two sisters and a brother, Â er eldest sister and brother are also doctors.
Joanna  joined the local drama club aged nine. She attended school in Dundee where she read six Shakespeare plays .Othello was her favourite and she would always have her hand up to take a part. She did Scottish Highers in: English, Drama and History before being accepted at 17 for The Royal Welsh College in Cardiff.
In her second year she played Cathy in The Runaway, a six part serial for Sky TV, with in my opinion, a stellar cast that included, Ken Stott, Alan Cumming Keith Allen and Jack O'Connell . Recording this meant missing two terms when she was filming for three months in South Africa but the college graded her work from her film performances, giving her a first.
Having graduated she was immediately recruited for the central role of Denise in The Paradise, an eight part series for BBC based loosely on the Emile Zola novel Au Bonheur des Dames. She then filmed The Go-Between a BBC TV movie, in which she plays the young Marian, with Vanessa Redgrave playing the older version of her character.
She also appears in the film What Maisie Knew with Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd and Julianne Moore, and as Pamela in the BBC drama Dancing on the Edge, The  Mini Series banished and  One of Us , a Netflix original set in Scotland, on which Joanna commented she loved filming âthe puppies on the farm helped you forget how cold Scotland isâ
Joanna is probably most famous for the role of Penelope Blake in the acclaimed Cinemax series, Warrior and in the American superhero television series Legends of Tomorrow as Atropos.
Season 2 of the Irvine Welsh based series Crime is being filmed at present, Joanna plays police office Amanda Drummond. Joanna was last on our screens in the excellent drama Control Room, set in Glasgow
Joanna Vanderham has been in many plays around the country, starring in some for the Royal Shakespeare Company and received a Commendation at the 2016 Ian Charleson Awards for her role as Queen Anne in Richard III at the Almeida Theatre.

She also appears in the film What Maisie Knew with Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd and Julianne Moore, and as Pamela in the BBC drama Dancing on the Edge, The Mini Series banished and One of Us , a Netflix original set in Scotland, on which Joanna commented she loved filming âthe puppies on the farm helped you forget how cold Scotland isâÂ
Joanna is probably most famous for the role of Penelope Blake in the acclaimed Cinemax series, Warrior and in the American superhero television series Legends of Tomorrow as Atropos.
Iâm quite excited about the latest project that Joanna is set to appear in, Irvine Welshâs upcoming TV series Crime. I have seen the trailer and it looks like you will see lots of scenes around Edinburgh, among the co-stars are Ken Stott and Dougray Scott, Crime is the sequel to his earlier novel, Filth and airs on Britbox from November 18th. Joanna plays police office Amanda Drummond, originally played by Imogen Poots in the film Filth.Â
Joanna Vanderham has been in many plays around the country, starring in some for the Royal Shakespeare Company and received a Commendation at the 2016 Ian Charleson Awards for her role as Queen Anne in Richard III at the Almeida Theatre.

DAISY PULLS IT OFF: Olivier Award-winning comedy revived with age-blind, diverse cast for modern London. Directed by Paulette Randall MBE.
A ripping revival of Denise Deeganâs Olivier Award-winning, festive heart-warmer Daisy Pulls It Off is set to wrap up Park Theatreâs 2017 season. This affectionate parody of 1920s boarding schoolgirl novels, directed by Paulette Randall MBE, will feature a truly diverse ensemble cast.
Starring Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter film series, Hollyoaks), Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, Shameless), Shobna Gulati (Dinnerladies, Coronation Street) and Clare Perkins (EastEnders, Family Affairs), the official press night will be on Friday 8 December, 7pm.
Paulette Randall says: âWe knew straightaway that we were never going to cast an actual bunch of 12-year-old schoolgirls to portray the playâs army of smart, brave and hilarious characters. So why even try with a bunch of sort-of lookalikes? Instead, weâve thrown the rulebook out the window, casting a brilliant bunch of talented and diverse actors who, gloriously, tick none of the boxes. Not being bound by age and race has been such a freeing experience, and the results are hugely exciting. Our only criteria were: Are they smart? Are they brave? And â most importantly â are they hilarious? Itâs all about creating a modern Daisy for a modern London crowd.â
Daisy Meredith, the energetic new girl from an underprivileged background, is the first scholarship student to attend Grangewood School for Girls. Faced with prejudice and pranks from the wealthier schoolgirls, Daisy also discovers her new school is faced with financial closure. Having won over a zany group of chums, Daisy concocts a wizard plan to save the school with the discovery of a secret treasure.
Daisy Pulls It Off won the 1983 Olivier Award for Best Comedy and ran for 3 years, launching the careers of actresses like Samantha Bond and Gabrielle Glaister.

Fleet Street. 1969. The Sun rises. A young and rebellious Rupert Murdoch asks the impossible and launches The Sunâs first editorâs quest: to give the people what they want. No matter the cost.
Following a sell-out season at the Almeida, Ink, written by James Graham (This House) and directed by Rupert Goold (King Charles III), transfers to the Duke of Yorkâs Theatre for a strictly limited season.
With a cast featuring Bertie Carvel (Doctor Foster, Matilda) and Richard Coyle (The Associate, The Lover), this ruthless, red-topped new play leads with the birth of this countryâs most influential newspaper.
James Graham said: âItâs been such a creatively rewarding experience, building this show at the Almeida. Iâm in absolute awe of our actors and the creative team, led by Rupert. And grateful to the audiences whoâve been coming and supporting the work. After being given the chance to revive This House in the West End earlier this year I think itâs really exciting to see so many new and politically-engaged plays being given the chance to find a wider audience.â
Rupert Goold said: âIâm thrilled the Almeidaâs production of Ink will transfer to the West End this autumn and that we are able to share James Grahamâs brilliant play, together with Bunny Christieâs ingenious set design and our sensational company of actors, with a wider audience. Ink is a play about ambition, truth and the power of the press â and for that reason it has never felt a more timely and significant story to tell.â
