Storyboarding - you need to improve

I made this Storyboard to improve the test animation i made for practice, and seeing what i can do so far. However, as you can see i don’t know much about storyboarding. My storyboard is too sketchy, it’s not clear what is going on the scene - the only person who could possibly understand this is myself.

So how do i storyboard?

I started looking into storyboards, i picked the storyboard from The Gorillaz’s song Rhinestone eyes, i picked this one as it’s a very famous storyboard and it’s a good reference to see how movement is still being presented through the storyboard.

Basically storyboards need to be clear, we need to see what is happening - you also don’t need to draw the inbetween frames for movement. As long as you’re showing the general jist of movement, you’re fine. Basically make a storyboard that anyone can understand, it needs to be coherent and clear to see.

Amended storyboard:

This is the new and improved storyboard, it’s a lot cleared and very basic because i’m not really sure what the characters are going to look like. But this is an improvment, i still have a long way to go when it comes to storyboarding but this is a good start. What’s happening is that the boy enters the museum, flicks through Goodwin’s flipbook and leaves, his shadow comes back and decides to have a little adventure of his own.

These (the image below) are some detailed notes i needed for scale of characters,perspective and environmenet - references were used for this.
