There's a lot of really mixed reactions running around Arknights tumblr rn so I just wanna say how nice it is to have your posts about Lonetrail running around, they are a breath of fresh air since this is like my favorite Arknights thing everrrr

yea, its pretty sad to see especially that a lot (me included) have been waiting for this event! its fine if people give criticism, even tho most things i have seen are mostly about "too long", "not related to rhine lab", "this passage with the doctor was wtf", etc... so it's mostly not very constructive. i can get not everyone likes it, and im not going to force anyone to, but posting complains and negative stuff is eh, i think, to people who enjoyed the event it's sad to see

so im glad you enjoy my posts! im just a little silly and i enjoy stuff, i don't really like being negative, even if there's flaws in arknights, im not blind, i just enjoy seeing my favorite guys! and i hope everyone can enjoy it too!!

Alertness and preparedness are just part of Saria's being, now, with so much of her life asking her to handle whatever new current work at Rhine has brought the labs into. So she readily agrees to come along when Silence asks her to, on the last night before the latter's return to Tremont.

She is still caught off-guard when they end up at the greenhouse, with most of its lights having been dimmed to reflect the night outside. 

Silence must see her moment of surprise, because she murmurs, "I asked Perfumer; It's alright."

Saria nods, but still considers her carefully. "Is there a reason, you asked for this?"

She gives a little shrug, looking to the dark sky above. Perhaps she sees the stars, in her mind's eye, those displayed by the veil, those shrouded by them. But all she says to Saria is a simple, "It's been awhile since we took a walk through here… and it'll be awhile, until the next time we can."

"...I see." She offers her hand. "Let's take our time, then."

And they do. For they have the space for it now.

What about Saria and Ifrit thinking about a gift for Silence's birthday while she is gone for another affair? So they can still celebrate it when she's back! Time for Saria to try to show care and Ifrit helping her with it

"She's being flooded with gifts these days."

"All the more reason we gotta get her something meaningful, something from people who actually wanna get her something and not the Columbian head honcho of, of ethics."

"That's not her title, Ifrit." It's an absent-minded reminder, though, followed by a beat of silence before, "She has a good scarf, but some accessories to match might be nice."

"Oh! Like a hat, or something?"

"Yes.... And it'll make a good math lesson for you."

"What?"

There's the smallest trace of amusement present at Ifrit's dismay. "You want this to be meaningful, right? Well, a handmade gift should be the perfect piece. And your control's fine enough, that I think you can manage it."

"Ohhh, fine... what do we need?"

"Yarn. And to pick some patterns."

Hi I finished lone trail and (explosion sfx)

Can I get something happy with Mumu hanging out with Ifrit and Rosmontis?

"Mumu! Hey, Mumu!"

She turns to find Ifrit trotting up with Rosmontis close behind, and she manages to smile genuinely at them. "Morning, Ifrit. What are you and Rosmontis up to?"

"We were looking for you! We heard from Perfumer that you agreed on having a little section of the greenhouse, and I'd told Rosmontis about your old viv-er-"

"Vivarium," Muelsyse prompts.

"Yea, that! Saria had mentioned you had a ton of different species! So Rosmontis wanted to see what kind of plants you had."

She looks between them, and even with the difference in visibility, the hopefulness is easy to spot in both. "Alright, you can come see. But you have to clean up properly. They're sensitive."

"Sure thing!"

In a few meticulous minutes, she's watching Rosmontis gently brush some alpine paw, tenderly taking in the texture of its cortex.

Lonely as she is still, the ache is less, with their wonder about her.

for the rhine fam word prompt, with ifrit seeing saria and silence in the same room again, perhaps "candy"?

"Silence! Welcome back!" Ifrit bounces up to her to give her a hug, and she manages to shake off enough fatigue to smile and welcome her into her arms with a firm hold.

"It's good to be back... but, you didn't have to come out all this way to welcome me. It would've been more comfortable to wait in the landship, surely."

"We wanted to come see you!" Ifrit beams, and leads her over to the transport shuttle where Saria waits. "Saria's got something for you too!"

Silence's eyebrows rise. "You do?" She lets Saria take her bags from her hands, noting with approval that she's moving well. Physio must be going smoothly.

In response, Saria brings out a bag with a rustle. She recognises them as tea-flavoured snacks, that some of the Higashi Operators have. "We figured you might like a little sugar, after your trip."

She hesitates, but takes them with a smile, meeting Saria's eyes and relaxing when she sees a quiet fondness in return. "Thank you, for your consideration."

Ifrit hums, triumphant, exuberant, bouncing with joy. "Let's eat 'em together okay?"

maybe some comfort from the others when The Events finally take their toll on silence's body?

Her lethargy has her so deep after a week of meetings that on returning to Rhodes, she only wakes the next day, sunlight bright through the window of her room—with Saria at her desk, pen scratching quiet but sure, and adding to the pile of notated papers, contents summarised and marked for who needs to see them.

"You've been awake as long as me," is what she comments after she drinks her fill from the cup of lemon tea handed to her, and is denied the chance to stand up.

"I can shut off my phone without fear of national displeasure," is the low but not unkind rebuttal, and Saria moves to place a tray of slightly mangled omelette before her. "And they still think you'll bend more easily than me. A misconception, of course, but they have been quicker to say what they want, when I tell them I'll pass on the message."

Silence sighs, but she takes up her fork. "Will you at least catch me up on what I've missed?"

"Of course. Though we'll have to pause when Ifrit comes by again. She'll want to see if you liked her eggs."

Silence pauses, smiles. "Mhm. Of course we should have time for that."

[gets back in line] maybe saria finally figuring out how to relax a bit? (with some help from the fam of course)

They let Ifrit guide on this because frankly, neither of them have sought out 'having fun' in years. It's easier too, to not get caught in the work that's awaiting them, letting her guide them from shop to shop and seeing what draws her eye.

It's a bit of extra elbow grease to get her to stop actively looking for potential threats, but Ifrit gives herself a pat on her back, watching her turn her attention to picking out full—and really nice!—outfits for a wide-eyed Silence.

When she goes to oversee the creation of Kirsten's grave next to her parents, Muelsyse comes too. As does Ifrit.

Saria expects the former and protests to the latter, the memory of Kirsten's apathy to the means of progress vivid in her mind and smarting in her fists, but Ifrit interjects immediately:

"It's not for her. It's for you, and who she was to you. Course you'd be hurting losing someone you knew so long. So I'm going, so you don't have to try to manage all alone."

This clear-eyed declaration, Saria can't deny. So she takes her to the grave, and that old hillside where they once saw the stars, so that Ifrit might see the beginnings, and the ends.

tell me what you thought. did you see her as an elite operator? did you see her with her flamethrower still? did you see her getting treated in one of the beds? is that where she stays now, has to? did you see her encouraging a young child going through treatment?

who is watching her grow? is there hair getting the texture and silver of old age? are there feathers? are those watching her, looking from behind? beside? or a glance in the corner of their eye? or are they beyond, or elsewhere, or nowhere at all to be found?

consider ifrit as part of rhodes in ten, twenty, thirty years.

my mind went from 'silence looked up to saria as a younger scientist' to 'what if saria had known a scientist like silence when she was younger, where would that have led' to 'imagine a grown silence and a baby saria together' so that's where we are in the post-story bliss
