how would a helmet (e.g. a mando bucket) protecting the lekku affect a togruta's ability to hear?

A togruta's montrals are themselves hollow structures which 'catch', amplify, and redirect sounds to the ears. Since solids are very conductive to sound, a tightly fitted helmet which makes direct contact with the montrals would theoretically make very little difference. However, this would limit the helmet's protective use as any impact force would also go directly to the togruta's head with as little impedence!

Padding and extra airspace between the helmet and the montrals will muffle and interfere with noises respectively, so modern helmets designed for togruta (as with helmets for use in loud environments like aviation) have inbuilt speaker-microphone systems to compensate -- to the point that padding is put in place to eliminate all other noises to avoid confusion. Precise enough systems can also limit the impact a helmet has on echolocation, though many who wear helmets accept and adjust to essentially losing this sense when wearing them; it takes some getting used to, but it is doable!

Today is January 23rd, 2024 and the anniversary of my first long term attempt at webcomic that I started when I was fourteen. Despite having shelved it long ago back in college, I still privately celebrate it every year in my heart as a personal milestone, as the comic in question; "Faeries Bible" was the first time I committed to a single project for any long period of time, running for 7 years with 150 pages plus 2 short 10-12 page spinoffs.

I don't do something every year but decided to indulge myself by drawing a tribute, not of Faeries Bible characters specifically, but a tribute to all the stories and OCs that came before it from the time I was 11 to the time I was 14, at the point I stopped calling each story my first, my second, my third, etc. story. There were many ideas that never left the concept phase, but these were the ones I stuck with long enough to be considered stories.

So this year I decided to indulge some old (fictional) friends.

re:soundsocks and other earpieces, you seemed to imply that covering ones montrals would cause a togruta to bump/stumble into things; does this mean that togruta generally lack proper proprioception in the same way that octopi are said to visually gauge each arm's position, or more akin to relying on montrals to a point where only a sudden lack of their echolocation is disorientating, like a cat with clipped whiskers?

The latter! Togruta's proprioception is generally considered comparable to humans', but the addition of echolocation means that they are accustomed to additional spatial awareness. They form and maintain a map of their environment based on sound which is 'audible' in most directions regardless of where the individual is looking. E.g. they are much less likely to trip over a low obstacle while looking elsewhere as they are still immediately aware of its position relative to their shins. This leads to a tendecy to pay less attention to where they are going with their eyes, meaning that when echolocation is impeded they end up bumping into obstacles they would have been tracking by sound alone.

Loud and rowdy by nature and Peppiruni's mortal enemy! (/jk) he quite known by his role as wreseler and entreteiner, his hatred to Peppi is mearly a show, they are actually Friends!

His kind makes sound by rubbing their wiskers in between their fingers imating Synth sounds to electric guitars and electric organs

Nomsetty the Rare Ronoiser

Ooooh La belle Nomsetty! This lovely dovey Ronoiser is quite inventive with desserts and baked goods, and much to her boyfriend's enbarasment also quite loving! (Don't worry he does love her back with all his heart :) )

She makes sound just like a Ronoiser, for she is just a rare one

Brunio the Rare Spaghodeon

Despite of his unusual height and lose eye this monster is anything but mean! In fact one of the kindest monsters that Peppi has ever met, even better knowing they are Brothers! (Brunio is adopted but who cares? Bros are Bros :) )

He makes sound just like a Spaghodeon, for he is just a rare one

So our cast of three monsters and one human go through The Pillur Valley to meet up with Geroar & Jhon, who right now are in The PizzaCliffs (Pizzascrape)

But a while after they arrived there suddenly Peppiruni stops on his tracks and starts to listen to the ground, after a while he gets up scared and runs to a pole where there's a bell and starts ringing it

As it turns out this Island not only uses the power of steam and magma to its advantege (such as in elevators and trains) but is also very sismical

As soon as the bell rang everyone started packing their things and evacuating to safety, for earthquakes might cause the pipes with lava to explote!

Despite of being retired Peppiruni is still going to help with his duty with the help of Peppino

Finally everyone is safe and quite suprised of how fast and strong Peppino is for a human!

In fact now he is quite known, mayde too much...

Oh... now a certain someone knows he is in the island

HEYDAY⠀⠀...⠀⠀⠀⠀are a five piece k-indie band that originally debuted on march 27 in 2016 under MEDIA MAYHEM in 2017 . the band would leave the company not even a month later after having their contracts forcibly terminated . while it is still unknown exactly why the group were forced to leave the company , it is assumed it had something to do with an incident involving the band’s female counterparts MAYDAY .

the current lineup consists of iseul , elias , gyujin , jihe and everett , with the band having made their re - debut on september 21 , 2021 under doellette after the acquisition of contracts the year prior . while originally the public were skeptical of their return to the music scene , public opinion seemed to be swayed after the release of SINK YOUR TEETH , their first release under the new company . shortly after sink your teeth’s release it was announced jihe would be going on hiatus after an overdose .

while he was on hiatus , the band once more came under fire for the member’s supposed drug use , before he himself had to issue an apology stating it was an accidental overdose on prescription medication . the hiatus would be short lived , however , as he would return not even two months later for the band’s release SHATTERED . while the group’s reputation is strained , leading to a decline in popularity compared to when they first emerged , heyday still manage to maintain a strong , steady fanbase – although it had been reported any and all new releases and comebacks are funded by the members themselves , as doellette seemingly views them a ‘waste of funds’ .
