i love this so much and 100% agree
yakuza (2005) / like a dragon: infinite wealth (2024)
#really helps with the long running theme of growth and change#kamurocho changes with kiryu. always has and always will.#also just a nice way to see how far things have gone since 2005#even how scenes are shot reflects this. kiwami and kiwami 2 are pretty faithful in replicating camera angles#but they add a differing flare in comparison to their og counterparts mainly due to lighting.#i did scene comparison gifs on my old (deactivated) blog and it’s pretty telling how it reflects the direction.#same goes for music composition#just overall lil changes and additions really help set the scene and are pretty nostalgic in their own right#(the ps3 titles especially feel straight outta the time period and i love them for it)#rgg’s one of the only series i’ve seen that’s dedicated to subtly showing the passage of time and it’s amazing#n seeing 8’s version helps with that conclusivity + the rearranged funk goes on combining old and new#it now feels like the town’s reached its climax no longer the sole focus of the world#but also not able to truly move on even after the tojo clan ceased to exist. the memory’s still there even as things change.#sorry for the tag ramble
